Also, it can take a higher temperature to melt the composition so there's expense there.”

Marijuana Cuts Tumor Growth by 50%

The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies.

They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, Delta-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), inhibits EGF-induced growth and migration in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expressing non-small cell lung cancer cell lines. Lung cancers that over-express EGFR are usually highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.

THC that targets cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2 is similar in function to endocannabinoids, which are cannabinoids that are naturally produced in the body and activate these receptors. The researchers suggest that THC or other designer agents that activate these receptors might be used in a targeted fashion to treat lung cancer.

This documentary explains the Rockefeller influence on the health care industry, and particularly how safe alternatives have been silenced in favor of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Going back to the early twentieth century, this movie explains how it all got started, and why we are in our current health care predicament. It then provides cures for those suffering with cancer.

Cap-and-Trade Market Spanning North America Weighed by States

California, New Mexico and 10 U.S. Northeastern states may try to create a North American carbon market on their own now that President Barack Obama has given up on cap-and-trade legislation that stalled in Congress.

The emissions-trading system would be based on a planned carbon market in California, the most populous state, and an existing regional cap-and-trade program for power plants in the Northeast, according to state environmental officials. Three Canadian provinces have also shown interest in a cross-border carbon-trading system, the officials said.

“The key is to have as large and as liquid a market as possible,” John Yap, British Columbia’s climate-change minister, said in a telephone interview. Under cap-and-trade, the government creates a market for pollution rights by issuing a limited number of carbon-dioxide permits, which companies can buy and sell.

Of the six states in the Midwestern Greenhouse Gas Reduction Accord -- Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin -- Democrats lost the governor’s race or control of the legislature to Republicans in five, according to data from the National Conference of State Legislatures. Many Republicans in national and state politics have opposed cap-and- trade, which they say is an energy tax in disguise.

Feds Warrantlessly Tracking Americans’ Credit Cards in Real Time

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/12/realtime/

Federal law enforcement agencies have been tracking Americans in real-time using credit cards, loyalty cards and travel reservations without getting a court order, a new document released under a government sunshine request shows.

The document, obtained by security researcher Christopher Soghoian, explains how so-called “Hotwatch” orders allow for real-time tracking of individuals in a criminal investigation via credit card companies, rental car agencies, calling cards, and even grocery store loyalty programs. The revelation sheds a little more light on the Justice Department’s increasing power and willingness to surveil Americans with little to no judicial or Congressional oversight.

“Unconstitutional” food bill driven by Big Food lobby dollars

Rady Ananda, Contributing Writer
Activist Post

While over 200 organizations lobbied on the Food Safety Modernization Act (S.510), no one seemed to notice an unconstitutional section in the bill until after it passed on Tuesday.

That day, Roll Call advised that the bill contained a provision, Sec. 107, allowing the Senate to raise revenues. This violates Article I, Section 7, of the U.S. Constitution, granting that power exclusively to the House. S.510 opponents now celebrate the House’s use of the “blue slip process” to return the bill to the Senate.

Fed wants to strip a key protection for homeowners

Americans continue to lose their homes in record numbers, the Federal Reserve is considering making it much harder for homeowners to stop foreclosures and escape predatory home loans with onerous terms.

The Fed's proposal to amend a 42-year-old provision of the federal Truth in Lending Act has angered labor, civil rights and consumer advocacy groups along with a slew of foreclosure defense attorneys.

Since 1968, the Truth in Lending Act has given homeowners the right to cancel, or rescind illegal loans for up to three years after the transaction was completed if the buyer wasn't provided with proper disclosures at the time of closing.

Attorneys at AARP have used the rescission clause for decades to protect older homeowners stuck in predatory loans with costly terms. The provision is also helping struggling homeowners to fight a wave of foreclosure cases in which faulty and sometimes-fraudulent disclosures were used.

The violations must be of a material nature to invalidate a loan under the extended-rescission clause. To do so, homeowners — usually those facing financial problems or foreclosure — hire an attorney to scour their mortgage documents for possible violations regarding the actual cost of the loan or payment terms.

TSA turns off naked body scanners to avoid opt-out day protests

Anticipating a nationwide grassroots surge of protests against naked body scanners and aggressive pat-downs, the TSA simply turned off its naked body scanners on Wednesday and let air travelers walk right through security checkpoints without being X-rayed or molested.

All across the country, air travelers are reporting that the TSA simply deactivated the naked body scanners and let people go right through without a scan. "Backscatter scanners are off. No scan. No patdown." reported a traveler from the Seattle airport. "Backscatter machines aren't being used at LAX," reported another traveler. "They're all roped off."

As soon as the TV cameras leave, however, they can turn those machines right back on and start molesting people once again. Top ten lies about Senate Bill 510, by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) The Food Safety Modernization Act looks like it's headed to become law. It's being hailed as a "breakthrough" achievement in food safety, and it would hand vast new powers and funding to the FDA so that it can clean up the food supply and protect all Americans from food-borne pathogens.

Here are the ten biggest lies that have been promoted about S.510 by the U.S. Congress, the food industry giants and the mainstream media:

Lie #1 - Most deaths from food poisoning are caused by fresh produce

Lie #2 - Under S.510, the FDA would only recall products it knows to be contaminated

Lie #3 - They didn't tell you that nearly 70% of grocery store chickens are contaminated with salmonella every day

Lie #4 - S.510 will exclude and protect small farmers

Lie #5 - The FDA needs more power to enforce food safety

Lie #6 - Fresh produce is contaminated because of a lack of paperwork

Lie #7 - The American people are dying in droves from unsafe fresh food

Lie #8 - The FDA just wants to make food "safer"

Lie #9 - Food smuggling is a huge problem in America

Lie #10 - S.510 will make America's food supply the safest in the world

Fed Names Recipients of $3.3 Trillion in Crisis Aid

The Federal Reserve, under orders from Congress, today named the counterparties of about 21,000 transactions from $3.3 trillion in aid provided to stem the worst financial panic since the Great Depression.

Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. were among the biggest borrowers from one program, the Term Auction Facility, with as much as $45 billion apiece. Some aid went to U.S. units of foreign institutions, including Switzerland’s UBS AG, France’s Societe Generale and Germany’s Dresdner Bank AG. The Fed posted the data on its website to comply with a provision in July’s Dodd-Frank law overhauling financial regulation.

The information, which also includes the amounts of transactions and interest rates charged, spans six loan programs as well as currency swaps with other central banks, purchases of mortgage-backed securities and the rescues of Bear Stearns Cos. and American International Group Inc.

Industry bought Congressional votes to pass S. 510 food safety bill

Despite an incredible outpouring of public opposition to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "Food Safety Modernization Act", or S. 510, the Senate voted 73 to 25 to pass the bill anyway. And data presented by Maplight.org, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization, shows that big industry groups and large food producers spent millions of dollars buying off Congressmen to garner support for it.

According to the site, Senators that ended up supporting the bill received nearly $10 million in political contributions from interest groups that also supported the bill. This amount was more than four times as much as groups opposed to the bill spent on overall contributions.

S.510 PASSES: THE SENATE EFFECTIVELY DECLARES ITSELF AN AGENT OF FOREIGN PRINCIPALS

As most of you know, S.510 the fake food safety bill which had nothing to do with food safety, passed the Senate this morning. This bill, which will go down in history as one of the greatest weaponless assaults on the States by the central government, is intended to knock the knees out from under what little is left of our economy.

Section 404 of the bill, forces the subjugation of the citizens of the States to unlawful trade agreements, international organization demands, and will reduce operating standards across the board for bio-piracy corporations in order to maximize their profits and to end as much competition in those markets as possible. These unlawful agreements and the mandates from such odious organizations as the World trade Organization, Codex Alimentarius committees, and other foreign principals have unlawfully usurped US laws and sovereignty, forfeiting our right to self determination and governance.

The bill, which expands a notoriously dysfunctional and incompetent agency, the FDA, is also intended to abrogate the rights of the citizens. The multiple constitutional violations in the bill went by unnoticed by members of the Senate; probably because the majority of them never even read the bill and had no idea what was in it. These violations of rights also seemed to by pass the mental faculties of several high profile front groups and individuals.

TSA Agent Claims Videotaping Against the “Rules” Declares TSA Above The Law

The TSA has now been caught denying American citizens the right to videotape their encounters with airport security. It is very clear that TSA believes they are 100% above the law.

Apparently, the TSA goon was not even aware of his own rules. No where in TSA regulations does it say that TSA agents have the right to deny American citizens their right to film in a public setting.

See, the TSA needs to ban cameras in airports so that citizen journalists can no longer document their molestation at the hands of an agency that should have no legal authority to supersede the Constitution.

Not only did the agents declare videotaping illegal, they went as far as to claim that TSA is above the law!

Stop S.510, the fake food safety bill, at your state line

"S..510 calls for the Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, to contact the governors of each state to determine which agencies within the state will contract on behalf of the state to administer the USDA/FDA federal plans for seizing control of food production and supply, handing it over to multi-national corporations and setting into motion the eradication of family and independent farms and ranches. These new “business plans” (which is what S.510 is, a business plan), require contracting with state agencies accompanied of course, by bags of USDA bribery money called “cooperative funding”.

The federal government, including Senator Reid, who is yet again pushing for a vote on S.510, the fake food safety bill, know they cannot pass any enforceable law on the federal level dealing with agriculture; it is not in the enumerated powers, and will exist only as a non-positive code and title. Because these “laws” are outside the scope of the federal government, they cannot be used to criminalize what was other wise your right to do without their interference. Non-positive code and title, in this case Title 7 USC, cannot be revised, codified and assigned a public law number as these corporate codes are outside the authority of the federal government. Should S.510 pass, it is null and void on its face, as if it never existed, but not one of your Senators or Representatives will tell you this.

It is expected, that failure to pass this assault on private agriculture and the intent to export as much of the US food supply as possible, President Obama will incrementally implement the provisions of S.510 using Executive Orders and using the Food Czar’s office to issue edicts and mandates that we, as citizens of the sovereign states will be told, we must comply with. No hell we don’t have to comply.

US Government seizure of the internet has begun; DHS takes over 76 websites

DHS simply seizes web domains that it wants to and posts an ominous "Department of Justice" logo on the web site.

Over 75 websites were seized and shut down last week, and there is no indication that the government will stop such efforts. Right now, their focus is websites that they claim "violate copyrights," yet the torrent-finder.com website that was seized by DHS contained no copyrighted content whatsoever. It was merely a search engine website that linked to destinations where people could access copyrighted content. Google also links to copyrighted content -- does that mean the feds will soon seize Google, too?

America: The Grim Truth

Americans, I have some bad news for you:

You have the worst quality of life in the developed world – by a wide margin.

If you had any idea of how people really lived in Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many parts of Asia, you’d be rioting in the streets calling for a better life. In fact, the average Australian or Singaporean taxi driver has a much better standard of living than the typical American white-collar worker.

I know this because I am an American, and I escaped from the prison you call home.

I have lived all around the world, in wealthy countries and poor ones, and there is only one country I would never consider living in again: The United States of America. The mere thought of it fills me with dread.

It is becoming increasingly evident that every industry has been infected by "Too-Big-to-Fail" consolidation that has resulted in a near-picture-perfect oligarchy -- a form of power structure in which power effectively rests with a small segment of society distinguished by royalty, wealth, family ties, or military control (Wiki).

Big victory against Monsanto's rBGH treatment for dairy cows.

Now, here's the BIG news. The court challenged the FDA's finding that there is "no measurable compositional difference" between milk from rbGH-treated cows and milk from untreated cows. According to those who have worked on this issue for nearly two decades now (maybe more), the FDA's claim that there was no compositional difference between milk from rbGH-treated and untreated cows was THE MAJOR roadblock to any good regulation. And the court finally struck it down, citing three reasons why the milk differs: 1. Increased levels of the hormone IGF-1, 2. A period of milk with lower nutritional quality during each lactation, and 3. Increased somatic cell counts (i.e. more pus in the milk).

Below, you will find the exact language of the court's ruling, as well as testimony submitted to the FDA's Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee all the way back in 1993 by Michael Hansen, Senior Scientist at Consumers' Union. Amazing how it only took 17 years to get the truth legally recognized.

A senator from Oregon has threatened to block a copyright enforcement bill that would give U.S. law enforcement the right to shut down Web sites without trial or defense if it finds the central reason for the site is to distribute copyrighted information illegally.

Ron Wyden, (D-Ore.) calls the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, or COICA bill the "wrong medicine" for copyright infringement, partially because it includes enforcement measures like a sledge hammer, when ice tongs are more appropriate.

The world experienced a major food crisis in 2008 that led to civil and political unrest from Bangladesh to Haiti and added millions more to those suffering from malnutrition. Though prices have dropped somewhat, some analysts say the crisis never totally ended. With prices rising dramatically in 2010, the world could be on the brink of a new crisis.

UCSF professors raise safety concerns about backscatter x-ray scanners.

Unlike a medical X-ray, the TSA X-ray machines are a sci-fi fan's dream: they are lower-energy beams that can only penetrate clothing and the topmost layers of skin. This provides TSA agents with a view that would expose any explosives concealed by clothing. But according to the UCSF professors, the low-energy rays do a "Compton scatter" off tissue layers just under the skin, rather than the bone, possibly exposing some vital areas and leaving the tissues at risk of mutation.

When an X-ray Compton scatters, it doesn't shift an electron to a higher energy level; instead, it hits the electron hard enough to dislodge it from its atom. The authors note that this process is "likely breaking bonds," which could cause mutations in cells and raise the risk of cancer.

Because the X-rays only make it just under the skin's surface, the total volume of tissue responsible for absorbing the radiation is fairly small. The professors point out that many body parts that are particularly susceptible to cancer are just under the surface, such as breast tissue and testicles. They are also concerned with those over 65, as well as children, being exposed to the X-rays.

Tester Amendment to food ‘safety’ bill puts lipstick on a pig

Rady Ananda, Contributing Writer
Activist Post

The voice of controlled opposition wants Americans to believe that the Tester Amendment to S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, elevates the bill to something we should adopt. The Tester Amendment puts a bandaid on a head wound. It does not stop the most lethal agency in American history from seizing control of the food supply from farm to fork.

Even though Big Ag now opposes S 510, we should continue to oppose the bill, as it amounts to federal assault on food freedom . . .

The 19 Senators Who Voted To Censor The Internet

This is hardly a surprise but, this morning (as previously announced), the lame duck Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to move forward with censoring the internet via the COICA bill -- despite a bunch of law professors explaining to them how this law is a clear violation of the First Amendment. What's really amazing is that many of the same Senators have been speaking out against internet censorship in other countries, yet they happily vote to approve it here because it's seen as a way to make many of their largest campaign contributors happy. There's very little chance that the bill will actually get passed by the end of the term but, in the meantime, we figured it might be useful to highlight the 19 Senators who voted to censor the internet this morning:

I've seen so many questions about why the TSA is doing this or that and it just misses the real point entirely. They are training the brownshirts (TSA) and they are training us to accept more and more personal incursions on our liberty. I know everyone who has traveled in the last few years has seen the increasingly abusive behavior by the TSA. Incremental steps and I promise you if you look back over the last 20 years or so, you'll see so many places where TPTB have encroached on our persons and have been allowed to. The only thing interesting here is the miscalculation. They've taken it one step too far a little too fast and we have screamed.

Not since Rick and Louis disappeared into the Casablanca fog headed for the Free French garrison in Brazzaville has a stroll on the tarmac thrilled so many. . .

TSA At The 'Tipping Point': Passenger Anger At Airport Pat-Downs Threatens To Boil Over

How did an agency created to protect the public become the target of so much public scorn?

After nine years of funneling travelers into ever longer lines with orders to have shoes off, sippy cups empty and laptops out for inspection, the most surprising thing about increasingly heated frustration with the federal Transportation Security Administration may be that it took so long to boil over.

The First Victory Against The Police State May Come Against The TSA

That person will have to remain on the premises to be questioned by the TSA and possibly by local law enforcement. Anyone refusing faces fines up to $11,000 and possible arrest.

Victory! Leahy’s Draconian Food Safety Bill Language Defeated For Now!

We’re thrilled to announce that today that, thanks to your calls and letters, the Senate Food Safety bill (S. 510) will not include those obscene ten-year jail sentences for food and supplement manufacturers who violate complicated FDA rules. Senate offices were deluged with your messages, and the Senate leadership listened to you!

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) is the manager of S. 510. He has pulled together what is called a Manager’s Amendment, which will replace S. 510; that package does not include the language from Sen. Leahy’s bill. There was a unanimous consent agreement in the Senate on Wednesday as to what amendments will or will not be raised when the bill is debated on Monday, November 29. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) says they have agreed to “up to five” amendments, mostly procedural, and ANH-USA has been assured by Sen. Harkin’s office that Sen. Leahy’s bill is not among them. Neither the bill nor its language can be considered without another unanimous consent vote by the entire Senate, so that issue is now dead.

ANH-USA has further learned that Sen. Hatch worked with Sen. Leahy to remove a section from the Leahy bill that specifically targeted supplements and made a lapse in filing to the FDA subject to the full ten-year jail term (see the reference to subsection V of Section 301 of the Federal Food and Drug Act). This is important, because this was the worst part of the bill, and Sen. Leahy could attempt to pass his bill again, either during the Lame Duck session or in the next Congress. We are grateful to Sen. Hatch and Sen. Leahy for working together to remove this provision.

This is the second S. 510 victory for ANH-USA members and allies. You may remember that last year we were able to make sure the bill did not require the development of a plan to harmonize with the Codex Alimentarius, which would have reduced access to higher, therapeutic doses of nutrients in dietary supplements.

We’re pleased that now no one will be putting small food and supplement producers (even mom-and-pop operations) in jail for ten years simply for running afoul of mindlessly complex FDA rules. This is an exciting day for natural health and health freedom.

Some background, for readers who haven’t been following the bill’s progress as closely:

The House version of the Food Safety bill passed some time ago. That bill includes draconian ten-year jail terms for even minor paperwork violations. Long jail terms were explicitly rejected by the Senate committee that put together the Senate’s version of the bill. But Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) introduced his own bill, the Food Safety Accountability Act (S. 3767). This bill adds back the ten-year jail terms for adulterating or misbranding food.

Bear in mind, the FDA defines those terms in its own way. In the FDA’s view, “adulteration” includes recordkeeping violations, while “misbranding” includes citing peer-reviewed science about the benefits of a dietary supplement. This new threat of sanctions would have given the FDA a hammer with which to threaten and coerce companies engaging in completely legal activities.

Sen. Leahy subsequently amended his bill to reserve the jail terms for someone who “consciously or recklessly disregard[s] a risk of death or serious bodily injury.” But of course, what is conscious or unconscious, intentional or unintentional, is to be decided by FDA prosecutors. No actual harm is necessary! And the additional language targeting supplements was added, although now removed.

The good news is that with the help of people like you, who were willing to speak out on what they considered an unjust threat, we were able to keep the Leahy language out of S. 510. Thank you—this victory belongs to you!

TSA Agents Absolutely Hate New Pat Downs, Find Them Disgusting And Morale Breaking

One of the common themes that people keep mentioning in talking about the new TSA pat down procedures is that those involved must "enjoy" the groping they're giving people. But, of course, most TSA agents are normal every day people who don't actually want to grope random people. Chris Tolles points us to a post from BoardingArea.com, who reached out to some TSA agents and found that many TSA agents hate the new rules and find it to be sapping morale to have to grope passengers. Some of it appears to be the verbal abuse they're getting from travelers, but some of it is just the fact that they have to keep touching people they'd rather not touch in that way:

"It is not comfortable to come to work knowing full well that my hands will be feeling another man’s private parts, their butt, their inner thigh. Even worse is having to try and feel inside the flab rolls of obese passengers and we seem to get a lot of obese passengers!"

Propaganda Alert: AP reports Small Farms are Exempt from Food Safety Bill

A day after the Food Safety Modernization Act (S.510) passed cloture with a vote of 74-25, the Associated Press put out some world-class propaganda claiming that "Some small farms would be exempt from government efforts to prevent foodborne illness under a Senate agreement on food safety legislation." The article claims a last-minute deal was struck to allow small farms to "avoid expensive food safety plans

That all sounds well and good, but it only exempts them from having to submit food safety plans, not from inspections that they get billed for, licensing requirements with expensive quality controls, product confiscation without cause or recourse, and even armed raids. We've already seen all of these ugly faces of food fascism unfold in America. Private organic co-ops have been raided by armed guards, lemonade stands fined and closed down, Amish Dairies raided, and a family farm had 50,000 pounds of cheese confiscated.

The Truth Comes Out From The Sexual Assaulters (TSA)

Well well look what we have here:

"This year alone, the use of advanced imaging technology has led to the detection of over 130 prohibited, illegal or dangerous items," TSA spokesman Greg Soule told FoxNews.com. The TSA would not disclose exactly what those items were, but it said they included weapons like ceramic knives and various drugs -- including a syringe filled with heroin hidden in a passenger’s underwear.

This year is almost over.

Various drugs may be dangerous (to the user) and are illegal - but they are not a risk to airline safety.

Senate Bill S 510 Food Safety Modernization Act vote imminent: Would outlaw gardening and saving seeds

Senate Bill 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, has been called "the most dangerous bill in the history of the United States of America."
