Judge Sides with NRA, 2nd Amendment Foundation, Disqualifies Washington Gun Control Initiative

A Thurston County Superior Court judge sided with the NRA and Second Amendment Foundation against a gun-control ballot initiative in the state of Washington.
On July 3, Breitbart News reported that the initiative, I-1639, was being presented as a simple attempt to raise the legal age for long gun purchases from 18 to 21. Although an attempt to disqualify 18- to 20-year-olds from exercising their Second Amendments is troubling enough, the reality of the matter is that I-1639 would have put in place a new system of background checks and myriad other guns controls as well.

The NRA-ILA listed a few of the controls I-1639 would have put in place:

[Created] a gun registry for any transfers of commonly owned semi-automatic rifles;
[Introduced] a 10-business day waiting period on the purchase of semi-automatic rifles;
[Imposed] criminal liability on otherwise law-abiding gun owners who fail to store their firearms to state standards;

Pair Attempts Armed Robbery On Two Cable Repairmen, Not Knowing That One Of Their Targets Was Armed

If there’s one thing that we know about the State of Texas, its that many of the residents carry a firearm. We also know that Texas has it’s fair share of crime, and seeing stories of armed citizens fighting back never gets old. It’s unfortunate for things like this to happen in the first place, of course, but seeing the average citizen fend off an armed attacker with a firearm of their own is a good thing

Gun Control In Action: 74 People Shot in Chicago Over the Weekend

According to the numbers available on Monday, at least 74 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, 40 of whom caught a bullet in just a seven-hour time period on early Sunday morning. The overall violence raged from Friday afternoon until Monday morning, shocking police and residents in a city that has become nearly accustomed to this kind of brutal, warzone-like bloodshed. The victims ranged from an 11 year-old all the way to a 62-year-old. Police said that some of the shootings were random while others were suspected to be targeted gangland executions.

The bloody weekend came hot on the heels of an announcement from Chicago authorities, touting the fact that shootings were down 30% in the Windy City.

Activist Kicks Off Effort to End Enforcement of Gun Control in Oregon County

The federal government relies heavily on state cooperation to implement and enforce almost all of its laws, regulations and acts – including gun control. By simply withdrawing this necessary cooperation, states and localities can nullify in effect many federal actions. As noted by the National Governor’s Association during the partial government shutdown of 2013, “states are partners with the federal government on most federal programs.”

United States SAFE Act In The Making: Penned & Promoted By Andrew Cuomo

If Democrats do in fact take over Congress, after the November 2018 midterm elections, and if Andrew Cuomo is elected to a third term as Governor of New York, Cuomo will be taking his plans for a National New York Safe Act to a receptive Congress, where he will lead the pack to destroy the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Of that, there can be no doubt.

Gun Owners Should Fear the Deep State

Some gun owners believe the deep state poses no peril to them because they are entitled to due process, a presumption of innocence and other constitutional rights. But such assurances can quickly become mirages when many politicians portray every privately owned firearm as a massacre in waiting. Many liberals will champion any “show us the gun and we’ll find a crime” crackdown. “Those who have nothing to hide, have nothing to fear” is an old saying designed to breed docility. But gun owners can afford to accept this adage less now than ever before. The deep state stands ready to exploit the rising tide of laws that turn gun owners into criminals who can be destroyed for political and bureaucratic profit.

3D Printed Guns: Debating Inevitability

For those fearful of guns being 3D printed and then used by criminals, they should begin understanding and then addressing what actually drives certain individuals to violence. Understanding that socioeconomic factors, not merely access to firearms drives violence, will open up the possibility to more practical solutions to diminish gun violence. Gun control efforts are already proven ineffective, and with 3D printing, soon to be rendered impossible. 3D printing will bring with it greater individual wealth and influence, but with it, society will have to learn to live with the greater individual responsibility that comes with it.

Gandhi advocated the right to bear arms; use of 'violence' to defend innocents against bullying, oppression

Gandhi is known around the world as the master of "nonviolence." And yet, in the face of being threatened with bullying attacks, even Gandhi directly advocated the use of violence in the defense of the innocent. Had Gandhi been alive today and witnessed the senseless loss of life at Sandy Hook Elementary school, he would have advocated arming the principal and giving her a chance to protect innocent lives through the use of defensive violent action.

Don't believe me? Read his own words...

"I do believe that where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence I would advise violence," Gandhi wrote in his famous work, Doctrine of the Sword.

CA Bullet-Microstamping Law Upheld By 9th Circuit, Even Though Technology Doesn't Exist

A California "microstamping" law that requires new semi-automatic handguns automatically imprint bullet casings with identifying information has been upheld by the 9th circuit court of appeals in a 2:1 split decision - despite the fact that the technology doesn't exist, reports ABC News.

The microstamping law - the first of its kind in the nation signed in 2007 by then-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, took effect in 2013. It requires that brand new handguns sold in California imprint the gun's make, model and serial number in "two or more places" on each bullet casing from a spent round.

The result of the new law was Smith & Wesson, Ruger and other manufacturers opting to pull out of California.

Gun rights advocates have slammed the law, as the technology doesn't exist to stamp bullet casings in two places as the law is written, and even if it did, criminals could replace or file down the firing pin and any other mechanism to "microstamp."

3D-Printed Guns Are a Great Example of Technophobia in Media, Politics

The hysteria over guns created by 3D-printing technology is a classic example of media and political panic driven by fear of new technology rather than any sort of measurable threat. This is "Craigslist Killer" territory, where a relatively new technology is presumed to somehow unleash all new sorts of problems.

The federal government wisely chose to settle a sure-lose lawsuit with Defense Distributed, a "capitulation" to reality that immediately set off alarm bells among law enforcement and state-level governments.

Paul Penzone, sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, claimed in the pages of The Washington Post that "anyone with an Internet connection and a 3D printer—readily available in stores and online—will be able to make an untraceable handgun, rifle or assault weapon with just a few clicks."

IGNORANT HYSTERIA OVER 3D PRINTED GUNS LEADS TO COURTS IGNORING THE FIRST AMENDMENT

A year and a half ago, we wrote about a troubling ruling by the 5th Circuit siding with the US State Department waving a magic "national security" wand to ignore the First Amendment implications of banning the internet distribution of the CAD files for 3D printing components for guns. As we pointed out over five years ago, the hysteria over these 3D printed gun plans was silly. Attempts to ban them from the internet wouldn't just fail, but would actually draw much more attention to them.

It’s Happening: Authorities Begin Stripping Citizens of Guns Following ‘Red Flag’ Law

Over 450 orders to remove firearms from individuals have been carried out under Florida’s new “red flag” law since it was enacted in mid-March, Tampa’s WFTS-TV reported Monday.

The Risk Protection Act was passed in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting in February. One of the most controversial provisions in it was that it allowed law enforcement to take firearms away from individuals who had been reported to be a threat to themselves or others with little to no due process.

In just Pinellas County alone, sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Schmittendorf said, authorities have “taken in about 200 firearms and around 30,000 rounds of ammunition.”

States Sue to Block Downloads of 3D-Printed Gun Instructions

Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson leads a group of eight states and Washington, D.C., in suing the Trump administation in case filed in federal court in Seattle. Ferguson alleges that the feds violated both the Administrative Procedure Act and the Tenth Amendment. Besides Washington, attorney generals in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Pennsylvania have joined in.

The suit asks for a temporary restraining order nationwide that would cover both the federal government lifting export controls and Defense Distributed from posting the downloads. (Fortune was able to download instructions from Washington State on Monday afternoon.)

Eight states are filing suit against the Trump administration over its decision to allow a Texas company to publish downloadable blueprints for a 3D-printed gun.

The suit, filed Monday in Seattle, asks for an order to block the federal government from lifting its ban on the gun plans and to prevent the company, Defense Distributed, from continuing to make the blueprints available on the Internet.

Democratic officials in Washington, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Maryland, New York and the District of Columbia are behind the suit.

Meet The 'Liberator': Test-Firing The World's First Fully 3D-Printed Gun

He hurries over to examine the firearm bolted to an aluminum frame. But the first to get there is Cody Wilson, a square-jawed and stubbled 25 year-old in a polo shirt and baseball cap. John may have pulled the trigger, but the gun is Wilson’s brainchild. He’s spent more than a year dreaming of its creation, and dubbed it “the Liberator” in an homage to the cheap, one-shot pistols designed to be air-dropped by the Allies over France during its Nazi occupation in World War II.

Unlike the original, steel Liberator, though, Wilson’s weapon is almost entirely plastic: Fifteen of its 16 pieces have been created inside an $8,000 second-hand Stratasys Dimension SST 3D printer, a machine that lays down threads of melted polymer that add up to precisely-shaped solid objects just as easily as a traditional printer lays ink on a page. The only non-printed piece is a common hardware store nail used as its firing pin.

More than 1,000 people have already downloaded plans to 3-D print an AR-15

Under a court settlement, people aren't supposed to be able to legally download plans for 3-D printed guns until Wednesday.

But because designs for the guns have already been posted online, by Sunday more than 1,000 people had already downloaded plans to print an AR-15-style semiautomatic assault rifle, according to the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

Shapiro has been fighting to keep 3-D printed guns out of Pennsylvania. At an emergency hearing held over the phone Sunday, the attorney general's office asked a judge for a restraining order that would block a website run by gun-rights group Defense Distributed from being accessible in Pennsylvania. The group's site allows people to download plans to make 3-D guns.

Government Admits AR-15s Are Not Weapons of War

In its settlement with Cody Wilson’s Defense Distributed the government admitted that semi-automatic firearms below .50 caliber are not weapons of war.

On July 10, 2018, Breitbart News reported that the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) brought a suit against the State Department on Wilson’s behalf. The suit was filed in 2015 and was the result of State Department action to force Wilson to quit sharing 3-D gun files online.

Wilson and SAF fought the suit on First Amendment grounds and secured a settlement with the State Department and the Department of Justice, the latter of which finalizes the settlement.

The amended regulations proposed in the settlement show the government will no longer look at semi-automatic firearms below .50 caliber as “military equipment” or weapons of war.

Lawsuit settlement will allow online blueprints for 3D-printed guns

Beginning Aug. 1, a Texas company will be able to publish its blueprints to make guns from 3D printers without fear of reprisal by the U.S. State Department.

Defense Distributed will be able to publish the blueprints as a result of a June 29 lawsuit settlement with the federal agency, report Wired, Vice News, the San Jose Mercury News, the New York Times and USA Today. Josh Blackman’s Blog posted a press release.

The State Department had warned company chief Cody Wilson in 2013 that he could go to jail for violating federal export controls after he published blueprints for a 3D pistol called “The Liberator”. Defense Distributed had claimed in its 2015 suit that the State Department violated the company’s First Amendment rights by trying to control its online speech under a federal law controlling exports of military articles.

How To End The Assault On Assault Firearms

One need not be a psychologist well versed in the twisted workings of the politically psychopathic mind to realize that “gun-control” fanatics’ long-range goal is to ban private individuals’ possession of all firearms of every type, so as to render Americans defenseless against oppression by a totalitarian police state. Although at the present time these fanatics cannot convince more than a tiny minority of Americans of the desirability of their ultimate aim, they have hit upon a strategy to achieve it step-by-step through plays on words. Their approach is based upon the old adage that “to kill a dog you must first call it mad”. To be sure, even they recognize that any firearm can be used to commit an “assault”, just as any firearm can be used for the purpose of “defense”; and that the capacity of any magazine designed to hold more even than two cartridges can be deemed “high” in comparison to a magazine holding only that many.

The Ninth Circuit Protects Gun Rights and Stops Confiscation

Every now and then the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals — arguably the nation’s most progressive federal circuit — can offer up a legal surprise. Yesterday, it gave us a legal shock, when a divided panel of its judges affirmed last year’s federal district-court injunction temporarily blocking enforcement of California’s confiscatory ban on so-called large-capacity magazines.

Under California law, any person who possesses a legally purchased magazine capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition must either remove the magazine from the state, sell it to a licensed firearm dealer, or hand it over to law enforcement. Those citizens who retained their magazines after the law went into effect risked a fine or up to one year’s imprisonment in county jail.

How Entertainment Shows Have Become Vehicles for Gun Control Propaganda

All of the major television networks use their primetime entertainment shows to push a pro-gun control agenda. Liberal television executives apparently think that they have the power to change Americans’ attitudes.

Not liking guns has been portrayed as cool for a long time. It is an old theme that dates back to the original 1980s MacGyver series, in which the titular character avoids using guns and expresses his aversion to them. This theme has continued with the current remake.

But the push to sway public opinion really seems to have picked up. This spring on ABC’s “The Crossing,” the sheriff’s young son says, “I don’t like guns” when a deputy suggests he may someday replace his father. The deputy appears discomforted by the exchange.

New Jersey Police Attempting Gun Seizures Without Warrants, Veteran Declines

In upholding proper firearm safety practices, the veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, of course, had not been storing his weapons in the 13-year-old’s room and also possessed “all the correct permits to own” the guns.

Even worse, Cottrell later reported that the police “had admitted several times that my son made no threat to himself or to other students or the school or anything like that.”

Still, the police demanded that Cottrell forfeit his right to bear arms “while the investigation continued.”

However, Cottrell was not about to give up such a freedom without a fight, saying “that he was ‘not going to willingly give up my constitutional rights where there’s no justifiable case, no warrants, no nothing.’”

While still a horrific rights violation, the responding officers did offer Cottrell a compromise hours later: to at least temporarily relocate his weapons.

DOJ Settles In Landmark Gun Suit, Safeguarding The Second Amendment

In 2013, hot-shot crypto-anarchist Cody Wilson warned the world that downloadable guns were imminent and gun control as we know it, a mere fantasy. Some five years later, fresh off a huge effective win against the State Department — which allows for Wilson to post his 3D-printable gun files online, "communist style," as he calls it — Wilson says gun control is officially dead. And he killed her.

"I barely put a million bucks into this and I got you the Second Amendment forever," he boasted to The Daily Wire in a phone interview. "What has the NRA done for you lately?"

Due to the terms of the surprising settlement of the United States government, Wilson can begin posting his open-source technical data, including files for every gun up to .50 caliber available through commerce, on July 27. An irrevocable content dump, according to Wilson, which renders gun control efforts increasingly futile.

Swiss Gun Rights Supporters Refuse to Capitulate to International Gun Controllers

In a piece for the SVP website, National Councilor David Zuberbühler outlined the party’s position on the new EU gun law. Zuberbühler explained that complying with the new rules would result in more bureaucracy and less security, by requiring the Swiss cantons to establish large and costly administrative schemes. Noting that the new restrictions would do nothing to combat terrorism, the councilor explained that violent criminals would acquire their weapons on the black market. Zuberbühler also pointed out that in 2011 Swiss citizens had the opportunity to adopt strict gun controls through a referendum. These gun restrictions were rejected at the polls.

A LANDMARK LEGAL SHIFT OPENS PANDORA’S BOX FOR DIY GUNS

Two months ago, the Department of Justice quietly offered Wilson a settlement to end a lawsuit he and a group of co-plaintiffs have pursued since 2015 against the United States government. Wilson and his team of lawyers focused their legal argument on a free speech claim: They pointed out that by forbidding Wilson from posting his 3-D-printable data, the State Department was not only violating his right to bear arms but his right to freely share information. By blurring the line between a gun and a digital file, Wilson had also successfully blurred the lines between the Second Amendment and the First.

"If code is speech, the constitutional contradictions are evident," Wilson explained to WIRED when he first launched the lawsuit in 2015. "So what if this code is a gun?”

County of Parkland Massacre Votes for Armed Guards in All Schools

The horrific Valentines Day massacre at Majority Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland County sparked a gun control movement among the student body. Out of it emerged the “March for Our Lives,” a highly organized movement aided in large part by the media and some elected officials.

While there was an initial rise in support for gun control following the shooting, it’s since faded. No meaningful Federal legislation passed whatsoever, though Florida Governor Rick Scott did sign legislation that raised the age to purchase a firearm to 21, introduced a three-day waiting period on all gun sales, and a ban on bump stocks. The same bill also increased funding for the training and arming of school staff. None of the semi-automatic weapons (particularly so-called “assault weapons”) that activists call to have banned were affected.

Trump pardons ranchers in case that inspired 2016 occupation of national wildlife refuge in Oregon

Good One! HUZZAH!

President Donald Trump has pardoned two ranchers whose case sparked the armed occupation of a national wildlife refuge in Oregon.

Dwight and Steven Hammond were convicted in 2012 of intentionally and maliciously setting fires on public lands. The arson crime carried a minimum prison sentence of five years, but a sympathetic federal judge, on his last day before retirement, decided the penalty was too stiff and gave the father and son much lighter prison terms.

Trump Picks Pro Second Amendment Judge Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court

Trump made the announcement at the White House, where he was joined by Kavanaugh and his family. Judge Kavanaugh's opening statement began with him making the point that “a judge must be independent and must interpret the law, not make the law.” It is a very reassuring statement to hear when gun owners greatest fear is to get another activist judge on the court.

WATCH: Armed Co-Worker Stops Vicious Attack on Female Restaurant Worker

Milwaukee police are seeking a male suspect who launched a vicious attack on a restaurant employee last week; the attack was thwarted when another employee pulled a gun.

TMJ4 reports that the incident occurred in a George Webb Restaurant on Milwaukee’s south side on June 29, but surveillance video of the incident was made public on July 6.

The video shows the suspect walk behind the counter and punch the restaurant’s female cook in the side of her face. She managed to stay on her feet after the punch and ran to a spot off camera. The suspect walked, as if pursuing her, but stopped when another female employee pulled a handgun and pointed it at him:

Anti-gun violence protesters shut down Chicago highway, governor gets blasted for calling it 'chaos'

The governor of Illinois has been accused of living in a “fantasy land” after he condemned Chicago’s mayor on social media for allowing the rally that saw the city’s interstate shut down by anti-violence protesters.

Thousands of protesters marched down the 2.5 kilometer stretch of Interstate 94, also called the Dan Ryan Expressway, protesting gun violence gripping the city. The Saturday march ran for roughly three hours and under 90 minutes after local police shut off northbound traffic while the governor's office wanted them to block just two lanes.

Kitchen worker pulls gun on man who ‘brutally’ sucker-punched her colleague (VIDEO)

A Milwaukee politician is appealing for people to help track down a man who was filmed sucker-punching a restaurant worker in a “sickening” and “brutal” unprovoked attack.

Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan has released CCTV footage of the one-punch assault in a restaurant kitchen, and praised the actions of an armed staff member. He called for the at-large attacker to be brought to justice. Wisconsin is a ‘conceal-and-carry’ state, and the footage shows how a second staff member pulled a firearm on the attacker in an effort to make him flee.

“One can only imagine what might have occurred if that employee had not pulled out her weapon,” Donovan said in a Facebook post.

'I'm not a killer or anything, but I do believe in defending what's mine': Texas mom shoots carjacker in the head after he tried to steal vehicle with her toddlers inside

A Texas mother shot a carjacker in the face as he tried to drive off in her car, with her two young children in the backseat.

Michelle Booker-Hicks was paying for her gas at a Shell station along Interstate 35 near Camp Wisdom Road on Wednesday night at 10pm.

Suddenly, she saw a man climb into her car, which had her two sons, both aged four, in the back.

Booker-Hicks jumped into the front passenger seat and shouted at him to stop. But he ignored her and carried on her driving.

She told Fox 4 she grabbed her gun from her glove box and opened fire, shooting the carjacker in the face, hitting him under his right eye.

American Revolutionary Song: Chester - William Billings

Chester was a patriotic anthem composed by William Billings and sung during the American Revolutionary War. Billings wrote the first version of the song for his 1770 songbook The New England Psalm Singer, and made improvements for the version in his The Singing Master's Assistant (1778). It is the latter version that is best known today.

The curious title of the song reflects a common practice of Billings's day, in which tunes were labeled with (often arbitrarily chosen) place names. Billings's song evidently has little more to do with any particular town named Chester than his hymn tune Africa has to do with Africa. With identifiable names for compositions, performers could select different lyrics to sing with the music without creating confusion.
This song would rival Yankee Doodle as the unofficial anthem of the rebel colonies

American Revolutionary War Song:Ballad of the Green Mountain Boys

Lyrics:

Ho--all to the borders! Vermonters, come down,
With your britches of deerskin and jackets of brown;
With your red woolen caps and your moccasins come,
To the gathering summons of trumpet and drum.
Come down with your rifle!
Let gray wolf and fox
Howl on in the shadow of primitive rocks;
Let bear feed securely from pig-pen and stall;
Here's two-legged game for your powder and ball.
Then cheer, cheer, the green mountaineer, then cheer, cheer the green mountaineer

On the south came the Hessians, our land to police;
And armed for the battle while canting of peace;
On our east came the British, the red coated band
To hang up our leaders and eat up our land.
Ho--all to the rescue! For Satan shall work
No gain for the legions of Hampshire and York!
They claim our possessions--the pitiful knaves--
The tribute we pay shall be prisons and graves!
Then cheer, cheer, the green mountaineer, then cheer, cheer the green mountaineer

Chiraq? It Has Been 1221 Days Since Chicago Had A Shooting/Homicide-Free Day

In a statement released by the police department last June following President Trump's tweet, police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said,

"If you have a magic bullet to stop the violence anywhere, not just in Chicago but in America, then please, share it with us..."

"More than just a new strategy or tactic, we are foundationally changing the way we fight crime in Chicago. This new strike force will significantly help our police officers stem the flow of illegal guns and create a culture of accountability for the small subset of individuals and gangs who disproportionately drive violence in our city."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Thank goodness they have such strict gun laws in Chicago!
