Trump, Macron to pursue 'common response' in Syria

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to pursue a "common response" to the Assad regime in Syria in the event of another chemical weapons attack, the French government said Tuesday after the two leaders spoke.

"The purpose of the meeting was to prepare for the bilateral meeting of the two presidents during the G20 meeting in Hamburg on 7 and 8 July," the Elysee Palace said in a statement about the phone call between Trump and Macron.

"They also took stock of the Syrian issue and the need to work towards a common response to a chemical attack in Syria," the statement continued. "The two presidents spoke about the situation in the Gulf and the need to avoid any escalation in the region. Both stressed that the fight against terrorism and its financing is a common challenge for all the countries of the region."

House Spending Bill Threatens to Suspend Nuclear Treaty With Russia: Bill Also Funds Missiles Banned by the Treaty

Tensions between the US and Russia touch a lot of fronts, including the 1987 Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty. The treaty forbids the development of intermediate range conventional and nuclear missiles, and there have been allegations one of the missiles tested by Russia is in violation of this treaty.

Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty signed in 1987
Russia has denied this is the case, but the House of Representatives appears uninterested in arguing the point, instead adding multiple lines to the nearly $700 billion military spending bill that was advanced in committee today, threatening to withdraw the US from the treaty, and funding US development of missiles that would deliberately violate it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This ... is an officially insane idea, and more US governmental demonisation of Russia, as a prelude to some kind of an attack against it, either in Syria; Iran; or perhaps (God forbid) a direct attack against it by the NATO military which has been encircling it, geographically, for more than the last year or so.

House Armed Services Committee Unveils $696.5 Billion Military Spending Bill

Just days after committee chair Mac Thornberry (R – TX) announced his intention to unveil a $640 billion military spending bill, the House Armed Services Committee actually unveiled a $696.5 billion bill, which you’ll notice is quite a bit more, but which is also being presented as a “cut” from the previous announcement.

The imagined cut is based on the idea that the $640 billion would’ve added quite a bit of funding for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO), and the new bill already includes $75 billion in OCO, which they’re presenting as meaning the bill is only $621.5 billion, despite the OCO money being very real, and also including substantial amounts that’ll be spent on things not related to overseas operations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This government does not necessarily need to spend more money; they need to spend money for our military more intelligently.

This should translate into the death of cost over-runs which are absorbed by taxpayers; the ending of problem-plagued programs like the F-35, with the companies like Lockheed Martin absorbing the costs of their failures, after a certain point, from corporate funding, and not taxpayers' funding.

The failure of weapons to perform as advertised should be treated as a form of corporate treason against this country.

Please don't get me wrong; as a Christian pacifist activist, who is constantly exhorting her government to use hard-won, moral negotiations as the way to resolve geopolitical disputes, I abhor war as a methodology for resolving disputes.

That being said, if the civilian leadership is going to use war to pursue its aims, our military deserve weapons that work. China and Russia are spending far less on their military outlays, but are winding up with weapons which do, and will work, very efficiently.

Top Senator Blocks Gulf Arms Sales Over Qatar Crisis

While previous Senate efforts to limit US arms sales to Saudi Arabia over human rights concerns narrowly failed, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee chair Bob Corker (R – TN) has now withheld all consent for US arms sales to not just Saudi Arabia, but to the other Gulf Arab states, citing the ongoing Qatar crisis.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt have all imposed a blockade on Qatar over the past several weeks, and have issued a long list of demands for Qatar to comply with as a condition for lifting it. Sen. Corker warned that this is undermining the ISIS war.

That’s been a concern from the beginning of the crisis, since the largest US military base in the Middle East is in Qatar, and much of the air war in Syria is based out of Qatar. So far,the Pentagon has insisted that hasn’t been impacted, but the longer the situation goes unresolved, the more likely it’s going to be a problem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I sense that this is just a small hiccup in President Trump's plans to sell billions in weapons to Saudi Arabia, as well as to other Middle Eastern "bastions of democracy" and will be overcome quickly.

Japan broadcasts TV warning urging citizens to lie on the ground or seek shelter if North Korea launches a NUKE at them

Japan has broadcast a television warning urging citizens to lie on the ground or seek shelter in the event of North Korea launching a nuclear attack.
The government advice also tells people to stay away from windows, protect their heads if they are indoors and to hide behind solid objects if an attack is imminent.

Instructions triggered by Japan's satellite-based J-Alert public warning system will be sent out through speakers installed across the country, the 30-second clip confirms.

The broadcast comes amid heightened tensions between the West and North Korea under dictator Kim Jong-un.

Trump’s Policy Is Clear: Civilian Casualties Don’t Matter in the War on Terror

? ecent news reports describe a massive increase in civilian casualties at the hands of the US military or US allies. In Mosul, Iraq, hundreds of residents have been killed as US forces join Iraqi troops in the last stage of their assault on the ISIS-held city. In Yemen, the United States is increasing its direct involvement in the Saudi-led air war being waged against the poorest country in the Arab world, as the UN and other aid workers struggle against mass famine and a looming cholera epidemic on top of the thousands already killed and millions displaced. And in Raqqa, Syria, US air strikes and white-phosphorus munitions have led to what the UN calls “a staggering loss of life,” as Washington provides backup to Kurdish and Arab forces now besieging the ISIS stronghold.

“Rarely a day goes by now when we don’t see three or four civilian casualty incidents…around Raqqa....” —AirWars

Preparing For War? US House Wants To Create First New Military Branch Since 1947

There’s currently a push in the halls of Washington D.C., to establish a new branch of the military by 2019, one whose focus would be operations among the stars. Proposed legislation by House representatives would create a “Space Corps” that would serve “as a separate military service within the Department of the Air Force.”

It would be the first branch added to the military since 1947 when the Air Force was officially established.

On Tuesday, the top two lawmakers of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Representatives Mike Rogers and Jim Cooper, added the legislation to the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The subcommittee oversees military space operations and works within the umbrella of the House Armed Services Committee.

“There is bipartisan acknowledgement that the strategic advantages we derive from our national security space systems are eroding,” Rogers and Cooper said in a joint statement.

The images Saudi Arabia doesn't want you to see

Batool Ali is six years old, though you would never guess that from her huge, haunted eyes and emaciated frame. Ribs jutting out over her distended belly, Batool weighs less than 16 kilograms (35 pounds). She is one of nearly half a million children in Yemen suffering from severe malnutrition.

In another hospital, Ali Annhari sits with his daughter Isra in his lap. Her eyes are glazed, an IV drip in her hand. She is suffering from cholera.
"I am scared of course," Annhari says, "three of my children had cholera. Your children are your world. I have been eight months without a salary, so we are struggling and borrowing money ... the treatment is so expensive."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Take a good, hard look at the images accompanying this article, and (something I rarely say), bravo to CNN for having had the "male attributes" to run it.

And please remember; the US government is enabling the Saudi genocide of children in Yemen. This genocide/assassination is taking many forms.

The Saudi military, under US military guidance, is bombing, killing, and maiming for life, Yemen's children:

Images: Yemeni children killed and maimed for life from Saudi bombings

Because, with US military aid, the Saudis are blockading Yemeni ports, so no food can get in, children are dying from complications of malnutrition:

Image: Yemeni child dying from malnutrition

Because malnutrition causes the body to shut down, and become prone to a host of diseases, cholera is sweeping through Yemen at this moment.

images:

Oh, and did I mention that the Saudis are using banned depleted uranium weapons in Yemen?!?

Images: Saudis using depleted uranium in Yemen

These DU weapons are having precisely the same effect on Yemeni children as it had on the children in Fallujah, and still births, cancers, and massive deformities are now the "new normal" for Yemeni babies.

Image: Yemeni baby deformed from exposure to DU weapons

I frankly can thing of few more horrific child abuse...than poisoning a child in the womb, through exposure to DU weapons.

When you assassinate children, you assassinate the future of the country those kids come from; and this, precisely, is what the Saudi military, enabled by the Us military, is doing in Yemen. And remember; this is done with your tax dollars, and in your name as well.

US Navy ballistic missile intercept test fails

The U.S. Navy conducted a failed ballistic missile intercept Wednesday with its SM-3 Block IIA off the coast of Hawaii.

The destroyer John Paul Jones, running the Navy’s top-of-the-line Aegis Baseline 9.C2 combat system, failed to intercept a medium-range ballistic missile launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Kauai, Hawaii.

The destroyer detected and tracked the target on the AN/SPY-1 phased array radar but was unable to intercept it. It was the second test of this latest iteration of the SM-3. The John Paul Jones successfully shot down a target in February with it. That test was the first intercept using Baseline 9.2C

Killer Drones and the Militarization of U.S. Foreign Policy

To many around the world, U.S. foreign policy has been dominated for the past 16 years by military actions in the Middle East and South Asia, and large land and sea military exercises in Northeast Asia. On the world stage, American efforts in the areas of economics, trade, cultural issues and human rights appear to have taken a back seat to the waging of continuous wars.

Continuing the use of drone warfare to carry out assassinations will only exacerbate foreign distrust of American intentions and trustworthiness. It thereby plays into the hands of the very opponents we are trying to defeat.

During his campaign, Donald Trump pledged he would always put “America First,” and said he wanted to get out of the business of regime change. It is not too late for him to keep that promise by learning from his predecessors’ mistakes and reversing the continued militarization of U.S. foreign policy.

The US Escalation In Syria And The Threat Of World War

In the wake of Sunday’s US shoot-down of a Syrian fighter plane and the following day’s warning from Russia that it will treat all American warplanes flying west of the Euphrates River as targets for its surface-to-air missiles, the threat of an armed confrontation between the world’s two largest nuclear powers is now greater than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis nearly 55 years ago.

This threat, which carries with it the grim prospect of the annihilation of humanity, is the product of a calculated escalation on the part of US imperialism.

In Major Diplomatic Shift, North Korea Open To Halting Nuclear, Missile Tests

Is Trump about to have his biggest diplomatic victory yet?

According to Yonhap, North Korea's top envoy to India on Wednesday offered a conditional moratorium, i.e. halt, on his country's nuclear and missile tests in what was said to be an "apparent bid to hold talks with the United States." While the North Korean offer is conditional, its "demands" are hardly outrageous.

North Korea Ambassador to India Kye Chun-yong said Pyongyang is willing to talk in terms of freezing its nuclear and missile tests under certain circumstances. "If our demands is met, we can negotiate in terms of the moratorium of such as weapons testing," Kye said in English in an interview posted on the website of India's television station WION.

He suggested that one of the key demands is the halt of the U.S. joint military drills with South Korea, which Pyongyang denounced as a rehearsal for invasion. Seoul and Washington say their annual exercises are defensive in nature.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that this could happen, particularly with south Korean President Moon being a "Sunshine" advocate (i.e., having more connection with North Korea, at all levels).

But the issue of backing down on the US/ South Korea defense drills may sink this before it can actually have a chance to float.

Additionally, the Syrian-Iraqi border will be strengthened and the logistics routes of terrorists from Deir ez-Zor to Jordan will be blocked, according to al-Asad.

He also said that the pilot of the Syrian fighter jet downed by a US aircraft is currency safe and sound.

"Using modern technology, the exact location of the plane crash was tracked to territory controlled by terrorists. The special units of the Syrian Army carried out a successful rescue operation and the pilot's health is out of harm's way now," al-Asad said.

US SENDS SUPERSONIC BOMBERS IN SHOW OF FORCE AGAINST N.KOREA

The United States flew two supersonic bombers over the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday in a show of force against North Korea, South Korean officials said.

The U.S. often sends powerful warplanes in times of heightened animosities with North Korea, and flew B-1B bombers several times this year as the North conducted a series of banned ballistic missile tests.

Tuesday's flights by B-1Bs came shortly after the death of a U.S. college student who was recently released by North Korea in a coma following more than 17 months of captivity.

Seoul's Defense Ministry said the bombers engaged in routine exercises with South Korean fighter jets aimed at showing deterrence against North Korea.

The U.S. military said the bombers conducted two separate drills with the Japanese and South Korean air forces. It said the flights demonstrated solidarity among South Korea, Japan and the United States "to defend against provocative and destabilizing actions in the Pacific theater."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Belligerence here is not going to get the outcome the US and South Korean governments want; it is negotiation for a full, and fair, peace treaty with no financial penalties, coupled with North Korea's giving up its nuclear weapons program in response, which could possibly deescalate tensions here.

Of course, that... would be logical.

America will regret helping Saudi Arabia bomb Yemen

“USA Kills Yemeni People”, screams graffiti plastered on walls in Yemen’s capital Sana’a. The Yemeni people who have been on the receiving end of US bombs dropped by Saudi pilots know all too well that the United States is complicit in their suffering.

The intense anti-US sentiment in Yemen should be a wake-up call for Americans: if you don’t care about the millions of suffering Yemenis, you might think about the future blowback.

Two US Senators, the Republican Rand Paul and the Democrat Chris Murphy, understand full well the implications and have been trying to halt the weapons sales. “The United States has no business supporting a war that has only served to embolden our terrorist enemies, exacerbate a humanitarian crisis, and incite fear and anger among the Yemeni people toward the United States. This will come back to haunt us,” warned Murphy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US-militarily enabled Saudi war in Yemen is breaking my heart. And I must warn you that the images you will see below are very, very graphic, but speak the truth in a very powerful, and darkly real, manner.

Children are getting killed and maimed for life by Saudi bombing.

Images: Yemeni children killed and maimed for life, through Saudi bombings

Because of the US-military-enabled blockade of Yemeni ports, no food can get in and children are starving to death from malnutrition.

Images: Yemeni children dying from malnutrition

Because of the malnutrition, cholera has a firm foothold on the population of Yemen:

Images:
children dying from cholera

Oh, and did I mention that Saudi Arabia is using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen?!?

Images: Saudi troops using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen

These depleted uranium weapons are having precisely the same effect on children in the womb as they did in Fallujah, Iraq; Yemenis are seeing a massive spike in horrific birth defects, and still births.

To poison a child in the womb, from exposure to this, and other, chemical weapons, is one of the worst, and most cruel forms of child abuse I can think of.

And yet, the House of Saud, the Saudi Military, American civilian leadership, and the American military seem to be perfectly morally comfortable with all of these very predictable outcomes.

I am not, thank you very much, morally comfortable with any of these very predictable outcomes, and find myself very frustrated to be a citizen of a country whose leadership is just perfectly comfortable in colluding with
the Saudis in committing war crimes against Yemen.

But as a Christian pacifist activist, I understand that I must use my frustration constructively, and become a witness, to the best of my ability, to the truth of what is going on here in Yemen.

We need to have a national dialogue on why the US government is enabling Saudi Arabia's genocide, in this horrific war against one of the poorest people on the earth.

Hiding in secret underground bunkers, eating wild birds and pets and saving secretaries but not wives: How government elites planned to survive a nuclear attack

America built a secret network of remote underground bunkers during the Cold War in case of a nuclear strike by the Russians.

But they were not made to protect civilians - the hideouts were just for top government officials.

In a plan as brutal as it was logical, the President and his inner circle would be saved while tens of millions of ordinary Americans would be incinerated.

Realizing that there was no way to save the population, the conclusion was that 'the government would protect itself and let the rest of us die' writes national security expert Garrett M. Graff.

The War on Yemen and the Senate Vote on the Saudi Arms Sale

The good news from Tuesday’s vote is that there is now much broader opposition to selling weapons to the Saudis when there is every reason to expect that those weapons will be used in Yemen. Sens. Murphy, Paul, and Franken have done great work in persuading many more of their colleagues to oppose such sales, and if they can continue to bring more senators over to their side the Senate may well block one of these sales before long. A close vote on this issue makes it much more likely that there can be a real debate over U.S. support for the atrocious and unnecessary Saudi-led war.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is no good news for the people of Yemen, and the Unhinged Surveilled States of America's "deep state"is still supporting Saudi Arabia's attempt to push back against the Houthi rebels, and forcefully reinstall the US government's puppet, Mansour Al-Hadi, by whatever means necessary.

This has translated into the following for the Yemeni people.

1. Yemeni children are getting killed and maimed for life.

Images: Yemeni children getting killed and maimed for life by Saudi air strikes

2. Because Saudis, with US military assistance, are blocking Yemeni ports, so no food can get in, Yemeni children are starving to death from malnutrition.

Horrifying images of starving children reveal the ongoing toll of Yemen's forgotten war.

3. Because of this malnutrition, Yemeni children are dying of cholera, and other preventable diseases.

Images: Yemeni children dying of cholera

Oh, and did I mention that Saudi Arabia is using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen?!?

Images: Saudi Arabia using chemical weapons in Yemen

These depleted uranium weapons are having the same effect that the use of these weapons did on pregnant women, and their children (and on US service members and their families) did in Falluja, Iraq, which meant massive stillbirths, cancers, and horrific physical mutations:

Image: massively deformed baby whose mother was poisoned through exposure to depleted uranium weapons.

When the intended consequences of a military campaign is the deliberate slaughter of children, through direct shelling; creating malnutrition and disease; and chemically poisoning them in the womb, as is happening through the joint US/Saudi war crimes in Yemen, you destroy the future of that country; ask the Palestinians, they are pretty familiar with that.

2016 'deadliest year' for West Bank children in decade

I am frankly appalled at just how morally comfortable the Royal House of Saud, the US Government, and the Saudi Government, collectively, appear to be with this genocide.

I, however, am very morally uncomfortable, being a citizen of a country which is actively, and aggressively, colluding in war crimes, and particularly war crimes of this magnitude.

US GENERAL WANTS 20,000 ADDITIONAL GROUND TROOPS SENT TO AFGHANISTAN

The US is definitely going to be sending more ground troops to Afghanistan soon, but the exact number is yet to be determined, with the Pentagon today backing away from media reports yesterday that they’d settled on a figure of 4,000 more troops, saying no final decisions have been made yet on numbers.

That might suggest they’re leaning toward an even bigger number, with influential retired Gen. Jack Keane suggesting that the US needed to send up to 20,000 more ground troops if they wanted to win the war, saying he believed the 4,000 figure was not likely to change the direction of the war.

Defense Secretary James Mattis conceded in testimony to the Senate this week that the US is “not winning” in Afghanistan, and President Trump has since given him unilateral authority to decide on troop levels and strategy. Mattis was seen as leaning toward the high end of escalation proposals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US military is Afghanistan for the pipeline routes, with which to checkmate Russia; the embarrassment of riches provided by its mineral wealth; and the opium poppy trade.

IF NATO, or US leadership were smart, they would leave Afghanistan as quickly as safely possible, and negotiate with whatever government remained standing in Kabul for all of the above.

Of course, that...would be logical.

Tillerson: US Working for Regime Change in Iran

Speaking to the House Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was asked about whether or not the Trump Administration’s policy is one of trying to impose regime change on Iran. While Tillerson insisted that the specifics of administration policy on Iran are still under development, he did confirm that the goal remains regime change.

Exactly how they expect to pull that off remains to be seen, but Tillerson said the US policy as it stands is to rely on “elements inside of Iran” who can be supported toward the end goal of regime change, with the hope it would be a “peaceful transition of that government.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why does there seem to be such a huge blood lust, on the part of the Deep State of the Unhinged Surveilled States of America, to go to war with Russia, to which an attack against Iran will almost inevitably lead?!?!?

Because it is on Israel's "US to-do list"?!?

Israel wants to see Iran regime changed, but constantly insists that this only happen through American blood, and American money.

US may attack Syrian troops with multiple rocket launchers — Russian Defense MinistryMore:http://tass.com/defense/951642

The United States may attack Syrian government troops with the HIMARS multiple rocket launchers moved to the al-Tanf military base in Syria from Jordan, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Russian Defense Ministry has been keeping an eye on the situation along the Syrian-Jordanian border," the statement said.

The US earlier relocated two High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems from Jordan to the military base located near the city of al-Tanf, 18 kilometers from the Jordanian border.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, "the deployment of any foreign weapons to Syria’s territory should be agreed with the country’s government."

Webmaster's Commentary:

This move appears to indicate the US desiring a wider war against the Syrian government, which will most probably mean war against Russia.

Yemen cholera toll nears 1,000 as 'humanity loses out to politics'

The death toll from a cholera outbreak is approaching 1,000 in Yemen, a war-devastated and impoverished country where "humanity is losing out to politics", a senior UN official said Thursday.

"Time is running out to save people who are being killed or being starved and now you have cholera as well adding to that complication," said Jamie McGoldrick, UN humanitarian coordinator in Yemen.

"We are struggling because of the lack of resources. We need some action immediately," he said at a press briefing in the Jordanian capital.

McGoldrick gave updated figures of more than 130,000 suspected cases of cholera and over 970 deaths, with women and children accounting for half of the numbers.

"What is heartbreaking in Yemen is that humanity is losing out to the politics," said McGoldrick.

Saudi Arabia using depleted uranium in Yemen

The use of these weapons is causing a predictable massive uptick in horrific physical and mental deformities in Yemen's newborns:

Massive birth defects expected in Yemeni children, courtesy of the Saudi use of depleted uranium weapons.

There is a brutal ugliness in this criminal Saudi war of attrition in Yemen, one which barely gets whispered about.

But as a Christian witness to this immoral and illegal war, which is deliberately murdering and maiming Yemeni children; which is deliberately starving Yemeni children to the point of malnutrition, disease and death; and deliberately poisoning Yemeni children in the womb with depleted uranium weapons, I feel compelled to speak the truth about what has been going on here.

And President Trump is so completely, absolutely, and horrifically on the wrong side of history here, I cannot begin to articulate it. His "bromance" with Saudi royals, on his first foreign trip, as a way to push more American weapons on them, just sickened me.

That he, and the US and Saudi governments are so morally comfortable with this genocide of Yemeni children reminds me very strongly of the statement made by the Papal Legate at the Catholic Church's siege of the Cathars at Montsegur. When information reached him that women and children were also in attendance where the men were being besieged, he responded: "Kill them all: God will find his own."

The talks in Washington will involve U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, as well as China's top diplomat, State Councilor Yang Jiechi, and General Fang Fenghui, chief of state of the People's Liberation Army, the U.S. State Department said.

It will be the inaugural session of the U.S.-China Diplomatic and Security Dialogue, a framework launched by President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a summit in Florida in April.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hopeful that something concrete comes of these talks, and that Chinese President Xi Jinping has made good use of those "hundred days" he requested of President Trump to work things out with North Korea.

Report: Xi asked Trump for 100-day grace period on North Korea

Unfortunately, however, Kim Jun Un's rhetoric has not softened against the United States, but in fact, over the last several months, appears to be becoming more threatening, rather than less; this has not been helpful.

But if there is no real resolution with North Korea over its nuclear weapons program at the end of the 100 days for which Chinese President Xi Jinping asked, we may well be looking at a war scenario against North Korea. President Trump may believe that not going ahead with some sort of a regional consortium, including South Korea, and Japan, and perhaps, Australia, may cause him to "lose face", a very critical concept in Asian diplomacy.

3 REASONS AMERICA SOLD MILITARY JETS TO QATAR

Unlike Iran which has the mightiest military in the wider Middle East, arguably even more disciplined than that of Turkey, the military might of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, for all the money they lavish on arms, is broadly incompetent and incapable. The average citizens of the small State of Qatar let alone the larger Saudi Kingdom are simply not equipped for serious, let alone long term military combat.

The United States just completed a sale of military hardware, including fighter jets to the pseudo-isolated Qatari state in a deal worth $12 billion.

This comes shortly after Donald Trump called Qatar a terrorist sponsoring state. Of course both Qatar and Saudi Arabia sponsor terrorism and for that matter they sponsor many of the same terrorist groups including ISIS.

Why then did America go through with its lucrative transaction that will see top-notch military hardware placed into the hands of a country that the US President called a terrorist supporting regime?

Putin announces plans to reinforce Syrian army

President Vladimir Putin has announced Russia's "medium-term" plans to beef up the Syrian army that is battling foreign-backed terrorist groups.

Speaking at a live question and answer session with citizens in Moscow on Thursday, Putin said the reinforcement of the Syrian army would allow Russian troops in the Arab country to return to their home bases.

Russia's air force, however, will continue helping Syria where necessary, Putin said, even though he expressed his keenness for a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Syria.

"We aim to establish a process a political settlement (in Syria) between all the sides involved," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly do not believe that the American military will give Putin the luxury of being able to fend off the "foreign terrorists" (which the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America is supporting) only via the use of air power.

And that has me very, very worried.

Netanyahu wants the UN out of the way to be able to achieve his objective

Israeli and US officials are in the process of jointly pre-empting Donald Trump’s supposed "ultimate deal" to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They hope to demote the Palestinian issue to a footnote in international diplomacy.

The conspiracy – a real one – was much in evidence last week during a visit to the region by Nikki Haley, Washington’s envoy to the United Nations. Her escort was Danny Danon, her Israeli counterpart and a fervent opponent of Palestinian statehood.

Mr Danon makes Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu look moderate. He has backed Israel annexing the West Bank and ruling over Palestinians apatheid-style. Ms Haley appears unperturbed. During a meeting with Mr Netanyahu, she told him that the UN was "a bully to Israel". She has warned the powerful Security Council to focus on Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hizbollah, instead of Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Haley has obviously become completely co opted by the Israeli government and AIPAC, on the issues of Palestinian rights, and a Palestinian nation; she is simply behaving as her masters in Tel Aviv and DC wish her to behave on this issue.

Bahrain Begins Jailing People for Not Endorsing Anti-Qatar Policy

Following moves to further criminalize public dissent, the island nation of Bahrain has arrested at least two people today on charges of being “Qatar sympathizers,” based on public comments in which the two men were seen as opposed to the Saudi-led blockade on nearly Qatar.

One of the two men was identified as Issa Faraj Arhama al-Burshad, a human rights lawyer who filed a lawsuit attempting to challenge the blockade, accusing it of breaking up families in Bahrain by expelling Qatari citizens. The lawsuit will not happen, and Burshad has been thrown in jail for even trying to do so.

The other man was not publicly identified, but was only said to have been a social media user who was accused of making postings that “opposed the decision of the kingdom” to move against Qatar. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have both threatened to jail anyone expressing “sympathy” for Qatar.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable.

This is all about the money, and those natural gas reserves Qatar shares with Iran.

STUDY: US ONLY ADMITS TO ABOUT ONE IN FIVE LETHAL DRONE STRIKES

A new report compiled by the Columbia Law School Human Rights Clinic and the Sanaa Center for Strategic Studies has found that the United States only admits officially to about one fifth of their drone strikes which end up killing someone, saying this hurts accountability.

That the US has been deliberately evasive about its drone program is hardly news, but this appears to be the first study aimed at specifically figuring exactly how many lethal drone strikes have been officially acknowledged.

This has been a growing problem with US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria as well, with official Pentagon figures on civilian death tolls dramatically lower than those recorded by private NGOs, with the difference often a factor of ten or more as the US downplays the tolls.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Federal Government believes it has only two functions; to continue to lie to the American people about what they are really doing, with these military operations, and rob them blind.

That, unfortunately, is all it is good for, currently.

Video: Syrian Army Reaches Border with Iraq, Strategic Implications, Failure of US Plan to Create a Buffer Zone Controlled by Western Backed Militants?

On June 9, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allied militia groups reached the border with Iraq in the area north of the US-led coalition garrisons at the village of At Tanf and Al Zquf. This advance dramatically changed the strategic situation in southeastern Syria and de-facto allowed the Syrian-Iranian-Russian alliance to win the race for the border with Iraq.

The key goal of the US-led coalition actions near the border was to prevent the SAA from linking up with the allied Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) operating in Iraq and to build a buffer zone controlled by Western-backed militant groups between the two countries.

The PMU is a major power in Iraq and an official part of the Iraqi Armed Forces. It’s currently conducting a large-scale operation against ISIS terrorists at own side of the border. The June 9 advance destroyed the US-led coalition’s plans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder; in light of this debacle, what is the US government and military are really prepared to do now to regime-change Damascus?!?

The following, very troubling article appeared yesterday in sputniknews.com:

Poster bearing a portrait of President Bashar al-Assad: Is US Preparing for Assad's Removal Amid Strikes on Damascus' Allies?

The article goes on to state:

"Washington is harboring a plan for a new "color revolution" in Syria, seeking to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and replace him with a pro-American submissive government, Russian Senator and intelligence veteran Igor Morozov told RIA Novosti.

The US is preparing a large-scale operation aimed at toppling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and replacing him with a pro-American puppet regime, Russian Senator Igor Morozov, a member of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, believes.

"The United States is making efforts to seize the strategic initiative in Syria by carrying out a 'color revolution' with the assistance of the armed forces; [they] are preparing an attack on Damascus to oust the current Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and install a submissive leadership in [Syria's] government," Morozov told RIA Novosti."

I hope to heck that Russian Senator Morozov is absolutely wrong on this; but unfortunately, just because a move is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid move the US government can make, us utterly no guarantee that they will not do it.

Such a move will most probably lead to war with Russia.

Did the US use white phosphorus weapons in its attacks on Syria and Iraq?

White phosphorus causes potentially fatal chemical burns which have been known to melt skin off the bone. It is similar to napalm.

Footage showed the signature spread of airburst white phosphorus munitions—probably M825 series 155mm artillery rounds—exploding over eastern Raqqa. It was posted last week by the anti-Isis activist group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently.

When M825 rounds explode, they jettison roughly 115 felt wedges that are impregnated with white phosphorus.

If exploded high above the ground, the wedges can spread over a greater distance, starting fires over a wide area.

Trump Just Dropped Chemical Weapons in a Major City, 100,000 Civilians Trapped

President Trump is now doing the unthinkable – in his war on terror, he has resorted to the use of chemical weapons.

Multiple reports are confirming that a US-led Coalition used white phosphorus-loaded ammunition in heavily populated cities of Iraq and Syria. Thousands of civilians are known to be in the areas where the weapons were used according to The Washington Post.

Use of such weapons violates international humanitarian law due to the types of injuries it can cause when other weapons are available to do the job. While white phosphorus isn’t exactly outlawed by the Geneva Convention, it is still illegal to use in densely populated areas. And, here’s why:

“When a white phosphorus shell explodes, the chemical inside reacts with the air, creating a thick white cloud. When it comes in contact with flesh, it can maim and kill by burning to the bone.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, has anyone happened to mention to you that the use of such weapons, particularly against heavy concentrations of civilians, is a war crime?!?

Well, Mr. President, I JUST DID!!!

And I must tell you also; I am profoundly unhappy about being a citizen of a country whose leadership is very comfortable committing war crimes!!

Pentagon Uses New Authority to Strike Somali Terrorist Outpost

The U.S. military used the expanded authority President Donald Trump granted to the Pentagon in March to strike a terrorist outpost in Somalia on Sunday, officials said.

Together with Somali partners, the Pentagon used a drone to target a command and control and logistics hub 185 miles southwest of Mogadishu — the nation’s capital — to kill multiple fighters with al-Shabab, a terrorist organization aligned with al-Qaeda, according to the Pentagon.

The outpost was described by a military official as a mid-level operation, not a high value target.

According to Pentagon Chief Spokeswoman Dana W. White, the bombing was in response to al-Shabab’s recent attacks on the Somali military and used the new authority the Department of Defense received from Trump.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We are told, by the presstitutes, that the US military is in Somalia to, allegedly "fight terror".

However, the painfully honest reasons for the US intervening in Somalia are the same for all other US military interventions; to regime change a government if it is not to the US government's liking (or protect it, if it is); expropriating that country's resources to which neither the US government, nor its minion multinational corporations have any moral right; and make sure that those resources are only sold in American dollars.

And if you don't believe me, please take a good, long look at the following article from indexmundi.com:

F-35s Grounded at Luke AFB After Pilots Report Hypoxia-Like Symptoms

The Air Force has grounded all F-35 Joint Strike Fighters at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, after pilots complained of hypoxia-related issues, officials said Friday.

"The 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, canceled local flying operations today for F-35A Lightning II aircraft due to a series of five incidents in which pilots have experienced hypoxia-like symptoms," Air Force spokesman Capt. Mark Graff said in an email.

A total of 48 aircraft and 49 pilots are affected by the temporary stand-down, according to Maj. Rebecca Heyse, a spokeswoman for the base.

"Flying operations are planned to resume Monday, June 12," she said in an email.

The incident is "limited to Luke" at this time, meaning other bases aren't affected by the order, Graff said.

The Three Superpowers Shape Up For War

“I don’t think anyone would survive such a conflict.”

Kim Jong-un Isn’t Crazy and China Doesn’t Have a Solution

No one who pays attention to the Korean Peninsula believes that there is an easy answer to the challenge of a nuclear North Korea. But finding solutions will become even harder if the problem is misdiagnosed.
The North’s leaders, starting with founder Kim Il-sung, appear to be eminently rational. His son, Kim Jong-il, wore platform shoes, had bouffant hair, donned oversized sunglasses and was particularly easy to caricature (think “Team America”). Nevertheless, Kim Il-sung, Kim Jong-il and descendent Kim Jong-un have skillfully wielded power, maintained control, deterred the United States and turned their small country into a Weltmacht of sorts.

The human cost has been great, but that’s no different than in the Soviet Union and People’s Republic of China. In those countries equally ruthless parties and leaders took control and made nations. The North’s political system is sui generis, but its participants act in an understandable and predictable fashion.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I wish Rex Tillerson would drop the position of "no negotiation until North Korea's denuclearisation."

IF the US, China, and South Korea came together with North Korea to hammer out a peace deal with which to replace the existing armistice, with the guarantee for peaceful, unrestrained trade in exchange for letting go if its weapons program, THAT would be treating him like a "civilised person."

Of course, that...would be logical.

Trump Faces Mounting Senate Resistance on Saudi Deal

PURPORTED ‘US AID WORKER’ KIDNAPPED IN YEMEN WAS COORDINATING WEAPONS SHIPMENTS

In 2015, US logistics coordinator Scott Darden was captured by Houthi forces in the Yemeni capital city of Sanaa, and held for six months before his release. During that time, he was presented purely as participating in helping the delivery of humanitarian aid into the country.

He did that, as part of his employment for New Orleans-based Transoceanic Development was overseeing the transportation of humanitarian aid to the nation, which in the midst of a Saudi invasion is struggling with a nascent famine. Today, however, the New York Times is reporting that his job also had him delivering shipments of war materiel to US special forces operating in Yemen.

Some officials were willing to confirm the broad details of this, but they and Darden himself were unwilling to provide specifics, citing its “highly classified” nature. This is fueling new calls within the House Armed Services Committee to exercise at least some oversight over what was being done.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why am I not completely surprised at the US Military's "business as usual" in Yemen, hiding behind the facade of "humanitarian aid" to distribute weapons to Al-Hadi loyalists?!?

DECLASSIFIED DOCS PROVE US GOV’T KNOWINGLY ARMED ISIS, CLAIMED WEAPONS WERE ‘LOST’

After an audit from the Department of Defense revealed that the Pentagon couldn’t account for over $1 billion in weapons and equipment that was meant for fighters in Iraq, the question remains: Did ISIS gain $1 BILLION in weapons and equipment as a result?

The September 2016 audit was declassified after the human rights organization Amnesty International filed a Freedom of Information Act request. It revealed that the Pentagon “did not have accurate, up-to-date records on the quantity and location” of the majority of the equipment that was meant for the Iraqi Train & Equip Program.

The missing equipment came from the $1.6 billion budget Congress allocated for the program in 2015. The budget was approved in the name of fighting the Islamic State of Iraq & Syria—a group of militants that didn’t exist until nearly a decade after the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a Jean-luc Picard, double-face-palm moment, at warp speed, upon reading this.

Jean-Luc Picard double face-palm moment

Since when, please, did American military in Iraq become simply "collateral damage" to the DOD?!?

As much as I hate the economic reasons for this war, and all the other wars in which the US military has become enmeshed, those in government who signed off on this should be charged with, and tried, for treason.

Putin on War With US: 'No One Would Survive'

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a series of interviews to renowned film director Oliver Stone, answering the questions on the most controversial issues of modern-day international politics. Talking on a possible military conflict between Russia and the United States, the Russian leader said that no one on Earth would survive it.

Putin on War With US: 'No One Would Survive'

Putin said in an interview with US film director Oliver Stone that no one would survive if a war began between Russia and the United States.

"I think no one would survive [such a conflict]," Putin said answering a question if the United States would be dominant in a "hot war" with Russia. The part of the interview was partially released by the US Showtime TV channel.

Putin added that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is constantly looking for an enemy to justify its existence.

"There is no longer an Eastern Bloc, no more Soviet Union. Therefore, why does NATO keep existing? My impression is that in order to justify its existence, NATO has a need of an external foe, there is a constant search for the foe, or some acts of provocation to name someone as an adversary."

However, Putin said that the hope for normalization of the Russia-US relations still exists.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putin was being his usual, blunt self in this interview, and on the issue of a "hot war" between the US and Russia, he is absolutely correct; most of humankind would most likely not survive.

And this is why I still hold fast to the concept of honest, hard-won negotiations between countries as a way to ratchet down geopolitical tensions, before someone, somewhere, does something incredibly stupid, and we are looking at World War III for certain.

IAEA: Iran Continues to Comply With Nuclear Deal

The latest quarterly report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has once again confirmed that Iran is continuing to comply with all of its requirements under the P5+1 nuclear deal, and that its stockpiles of low enriched uranium remain well below negotiated caps.

The IAEA report also confirmed that Iran has made no attempt to construct a heavy water reactor at Arak. Iran is expected to ultimately build a reactor at Arak to produce medical isotopes, though under the P5+1 deal the international community is to offer an alternative design that produces less plutonium as a waste product.

The lack of an active heavy water reactor, along with continued struggles to sell their excess heavy water on the international market, means Iran is once again nearing the “cap” on a heavy water stockpile. The P5+1 deal was supposed to assure Iran an export market for excess heavy water, to help recoup the cost of a production facility no longer needed because of the Arak redesign.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, if IAEA says that Iran is complying completely with the P5+1 Accords, why is the US still demonizing it?!?

The short answer is, because Israel wants it destroyed and balkanised, as it, allegedly represents an "existential threat" to Israel, even though it has not started a war in over 200 years.

And BTW, if you have not seen it yet, please enjoy the following video, done by a very charming Jewish vidiographer: "Don't Tell Mother I'm In Iran"

JUDGE DISAGREES WITH NYPD CLAIMS ITS LRAD SOUND CANNON ISN’T A WEAPON

A judge has ruled that a lawsuit against the NYPD for officers’ use of a Long Range Acoustic Device sound cannon at a Black Lives Matter protest can proceed, because “sound can be used as a force.”

The city had sought to get the federal lawsuit thrown out in part on the basis that “the LRAD is not an instrumentality of force, but a communication device,” and that “the officers’ creation of a sound that plaintiffs happened to hear cannot be considered ‘physical contact.'”

The lawsuit stems from a demonstration in Midtown in December 2014 in response to a grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Daniel Pantaleo, one of several cops who killed Eric Garner in Staten Island. The evening protest bled into early the next morning, and around 1 a.m. at East 57th Street and Madison Avenue, marchers were gathered in the street, and some in the crowd were throwing bottles and garbage at police when two officers with the NYPD Disorder Control Unit activated the LRAD.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sound, velocity of tone, and pitch can be used to create an auditory heaven, or hell, depending on how they are used.

Let's see what the company manufacturing these devices says about their capabilities:

The Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) is an acoustic hailing device developed by LRAD Corporation to send messages and warning tones over longer distances or at higher volume than normal loudspeakers. LRAD systems are used for long range communications in a variety of applications[1] including as a means of non-lethal, non-kinetic crowd control. They have been called "sonic weapons".[2] According to the manufacturer's specifications, the systems weigh from 15 to 320 pounds (6.8 to 145.1 kg) and can emit sound in a 30°- 60° beam at 2.5 kHz.[3] The manufacturer also produces systems for public address and mass notification use that broadcast 360°.[4] LRAD systems are used by law enforcement, government and defense agencies, as well as maritime and commercial security companies to broadcast audible notifications and warnings over distance. LRAD systems are also used to deter wildlife from airport runways, wind and solar farms, nuclear power facilities, gas and oil platforms, mining and agricultural operations, and industrial plants.

Sounds pretty harmless, from its manufacturers' perspective, right?!?

So what are the documented effects, when these LRADS are used for crowd control in very close proximity to those crowds?!?

The city of Chicago ordered $1 million worth of riot-control equipment including a “sound cannon” that can produce painful sound waves of up to 150 decibels. These devices, also known as LRADs or long-range acoustic devices, are being used increasingly across the U.S. and abroad as a method of crowd control. The LRAD’s power lies in its ability to emit sound beams as if traveling through a tunnel and can reach a target as much as 1600 feet away. For humans, pain is between 110 and 120 decibels. Any exposure to this device at its maximum power could cause irreversible damage and debilitating tinnitus (ringing in the ears) since the sound exceeds that of a jet engine or a gun shot near the ear. There have already been documented cases of irreparable hearing loss caused by exposure to LRADs. Karen Piper, who attended the G20 summit in Pittsburgh, sued the city after allegedly sustaining permanent hearing loss when the city used their LRAD. “The intensity of being hit at close range by a high-pitched sound blast designed to deter pirate boats and terrorists at least a quarter mile away is indescribable. The sound vibrates through you and causes pain throughout your body, not only in the ears. I thought I might die,” Piper, now an English professor at the University of Missouri, said in a press release. “It is shocking that the LRAD device is being promoted for use on American citizens and the general public.”

As a published composer and musician, I very much side with the judge in this case, and hope that the plaintiffs are successful in their lawsuits.

MDPD Wants to Record Entire County From the Sky Using Iraq War Technology

After the Freddie Gray riots in 2015, Baltimore residents began noticing small planes circling the city. As reporters later uncovered, Baltimore Police had quietly begun using a "wide-area surveillance" system, which deploys Cessna planes to constantly record the movements of an entire metro area. Police never bothered to tell the public they were using the invasive technology, which had been developed by the U.S. Air Force to help soldiers fight in the Middle East.

Now Miami-Dade Police are quietly trying to deploy the same system. In a county document posted online Tuesday, MDPD revealed the force has applied for Department of Justice funds to begin using wide-area surveillance (WAS) tools throughout the county. In a move that echoes Baltimore's lack of disclosure to the public, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez has already applied for the grant — and the county is now asking commissioners to sign off on the act retroactively at its next meeting June 6.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to ask; what have been the benefits to the Baltimore PD from this activity, and how does the Miami Dade police expect to actually benefit from the use of this surveillance?!?

There's a war going on in this country to eviscerate what precious few civil liberties we have left, and such surveillance reeks of this process.

Miami Dade Mayor Gimenez understands that, otherwise, he wouldn't have asked his city commissioners to sigh off on this act retroactively.

And if this allegedly about "reducing crime", let me tell you what investments will work far better than a bunch of airplanes surveilling your city as they do in a war zone.

First, create a functional educational system, which will prepare kids for the jobs in the later 21st century, which will look nothing like the jobs we have now, particularly when it comes to manual labor, which will be a thing of the past very shortly, due to automation.

And no matter what language kids speak at home, they must learn a functional English, in order to qualify for the better jobs. In 6 Baltimore schools, not a single student could pass the proficiency test for either English, or math.

Encourage start-ups and entrepreneurs locally, by having a system of taxation which doesn't strangle them just as they are starting out.

And finally, decriminalise drugs, to take the financial incentive out of joining a gang completely away.

Portugal did this, and their progress in the area of preventing drug use in teens and beyond was nothing short of amazing.

Portugal: what happened after their decriminalisation of drugs, from weed to heroin.

Of course, this is apt to happen in this country when pigs discover their ability to fly, as drug money is laundered by some of the world's biggest banks, and they don't want to give up that profit stream.Banks Launder Billions of Illegal Cartel Money While Snubbing Legal Marijuana Businesses

And many political campaigns are partially funded by drug criminals:
Image: Hillary Clinton posing with convicted drug felon, Jorge Cabrera, at a White House Christmas event

And please don't tell me she didn't know what his background was; she knew, but only the money he was able to provide her husband's campaign mattered, no matter how dirty and drug tainted it was.

Russian Lawmaker Issues Sobering Threat: We're Willing To Use Nukes To Defend Crimea

As of late, the media has forgotten about tensions between Ukraine, NATO, and Russia. Crimea and the conflict in Eastern Ukraine have largely left the public’s awareness. However, that shouldn’t be the case, because this region is still a powder keg that could blow at any time. And if it does, it could easily result in another world war.

If you don’t think the situation in Ukraine could still explode into a wider conflict, take a look at what this member of Russia’s parliament recently said at an international security conference.

“On the issue of NATO expansion on our borders, at some point I heard from the Russian military — and I think they are right — If U.S. forces, NATO forces, are, were, in the Crimea, in eastern Ukraine, Russia is undefendable militarily in case of conflict without using nuclear weapons in the early stage of the conflict,” Russian parliamentarian Vyacheslav Alekseyevich Nikonov told attendees at the GLOBSEC 2017 forum in Bratislava, Slovakia.

NATO LAUNCHES ITS OWN OPERATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The recent NATO summit took a decision to formally become a member of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS), in addition to its training mission in Iraq.

Despite all the speeches ringing alarm bells about the deadly threat coming from the IS – the mortal enemy of the West that vowed to fight it till it exists – the bloc’s combat ready forces are deploying…against Russia in the Eastern Europe! As a result, the alliance has seen no need to counter the IS plans to create a caliphate. It stubbornly turns a blind eye on the peril coming from the South.

Migrant flows are flooding the territories of European alliance members, terrorist acts are committed to kill citizens of the NATO member states, US and Turkish military are fighting the extremists on the ground but the bloc largely limits itself to words of condemnation while demonizing Russia – the country which says it does not want to provoke confrontation and calls for a dialogue!

Webmaster's Commentary:

It has become painfully clear, that the obvious intent of this military intervention, is regime change in Syria.

And the question must be asked; how long before NATO and US forces are in direct conflict with Russia over Syria?!?

And the way I see it, the short answer is, not long.

U.S. says China realizes limited time to negotiate with North Korea

China has realized it has limited time to rein in North Korea's nuclear program through negotiations and is open to further sanctions against Pyongyang, a senior U.S. State Department official said on Friday.

Susan Thornton, the acting assistant secretary for east Asian and Pacific affairs told a news briefing in Beijing that China understood that the U.S. viewed the North Korea situation as an urgent "time-limited problem set".

"So they know now that they don't have, I think, as much time to try to bring the North Koreans to the table to get their calculus changed and get them to the negotiating table," she said. "And I think that has lent some urgency to their measures."

Pyongyang has conducted dozens of missile tests, the most recent last Sunday, and tested two nuclear bombs since the start of 2016, in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions. It says the program is necessary to counter U.S. aggression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation; China, and the world, are being groomed by the US government for a US pre-emptive strike against North Korea.

There have been credible sources indicating that Chinese President Zi Jinping, upon visiting Mar-A-Largo in April, asked President Trump for 100 days to get the problem sorted with North Korea.

Report: Xi Jinping asked for '100-day grace period' on North Korea

The end of that 100 days comes roughly at the end of next month; and June starts this coming Thursday.

The question of whether President Xi will get his 100 days rests very squarely on the degree to which he can persuade Kim Jung Un not to continue his missile and nuclear tests before that time has ended.

And yesterday, the US military has just sent a 3rd carrier group to the Korean Peninsula:

US military sending a 3rd carrier group to the North Korean peninsula

It looks like the excrement is about to hit the ventilation system on the North Korean peninsula; I hope to heck I am wrong on this, but the continued movement of personnel and materials into this region bode ill for any substantive peace talks getting held in order to ratchet down tensions here.

US PLANS FIRST TEST OF ICBM INTERCEPT, WITH NKOREA ON MIND

Preparing for North Korea's growing threat, the Pentagon will try to shoot down an intercontinental-range missile for the first time in a test next week. The goal is to more closely simulate a North Korean ICBM aimed at the U.S. homeland, officials said Friday

The American interceptor has a spotty track record, succeeding in nine of 17 attempts since 1999. The most recent test, in June 2014, was a success, but that followed three straight failures. The system has evolved from the multibillion-dollar effort triggered by President Ronald Reagan's 1983 push for a "Star Wars" solution to ballistic missile threats during the Cold War - when the Soviet Union was the only major worry.

North Korea is now the focus of U.S. efforts because its leader, Kim Jong Un, has vowed to field a nuclear-armed missile capable of reaching American territory. He has yet to test an intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, but Pentagon officials believe he is speeding in that direction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But what is the US military actually able to do about the interceptor's miserable failure rate?!?

This will do absolutely nothing unless it is completely accurate in its interception process, and it looks to me as though it is going to need far more intense engineering, and time, to get these units fully operational.

SYRIA - TRUTH SLIPS THROUGH IN THE NEW YORK TIMES - NATO PREPS TO FIGHT IRAN AND RUSSIA

The Islamic proxy forces of the "west", al-Qaeda under its various disguises, Ahar al-Sham and even ISIS are mostly done. The latest especially is no longer a capable military force but is reverting to guerilla levels of operation. Its final defeat will take a long time but it must and will be achieved by local forces.

Despite that the U.S. pressed on NATO members to let the NATO organization join its "fight against ISIS". The single NATO members were already part of the U.S. coalition. But NATO as an organization brings large scale command and control capabilities as well as additional resources. (All under U.S. control.)

Webmaster's Commentary:

A larger, regional, if not world war, is coming; we have been in the opening phases of that war for some time now, even though few will acknowledge it.

I am reminded of the second Sherlock Holmes movie, "A Game of Shadows", where the evil Moriarty makes the observation that war is coming, and he has the "lock" on both the bullets and the bandages: so it is with the West's military/industrial complex, which has metaphorically punctured President Trump's throat; swallowed whatever morality President Donald Trump ever had before he took his Oath of Office, and replaced it with the pure, immoral venom of war.

That President Trump has thrown America's lot in with Saudi Arabia, coupled with the huge arms deal he just signed off on, is appalling to me, on every possible level.

This, for a country where its human rights record makes Attila the Hun look downright compassionate in comparison?!?

There is utterly no doubt in my mind that some of those arms will be used to finish the Saudi's on-going genocide in Yemen, then be used against Iran, which is both Saudi Arabia's and Israel's "alleged existential threat" in the region.

And why?!? Because, since the revolution in 79, it has become a moderate, flourishing constitutional Islamic republic, where the rights of religious minorities are protected, and its people are succeeding.

Oh, and don't forget; Israel's government got a little "antsy" over the Saudi deal, so President Trump has just OK'd another $75 million dollars more for "Israeli defense", over and above the $38 billion dollar, 10 year deal deal, signed in December of last year.

PM says US agreed to boost Israel military aid amid concern over Saudi deal

So I give you President Donald "Moriarty" Trump, who firmly believes war is good for business, because our weapons are the only things people from other countries want to buy; and so, war is what he shall have.

Never mind that the US and its allies may well not win this war, particularly against Russia, because this country doesn't have the weaponry; the money, the troop strength; or the manufacturing to insure a victory in a conventional war against Russia.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis’s Iraq “War Crimes”

March 1, 2017

Retired Marine General James Mattis, a man who has served over forty years in the Marine Corps, was sworn in as the US Secretary of Defense in January 2017. Before his confirmation, he was under public scrutiny—for instance, for his controversial comments on “political Islam” at the Heritage Foundation in 2015—but, Dahr Jamail reports, the bigger concern is that Mattis “is clearly responsible for carrying out and/or aiding and abetting in several war crimes.”

The November 2005 Haditha massacre was well documented and received international attention, even if Mattis’s role in it has been largely forgotten. After a roadside bomb attack on a Marine convoy, a group of American soldiers rounded up 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians—including women, children, and elderly people—and shot them numerous times at close range. When the Marines were brought to trial, Mattis was the authority that dismissed the charges against them.

‘TRUCKLOADS’ OF US ARMS AND AMMO REACH KURDISH MILITIA IN SYRIA – REPORTS

Over 100 trucks loaded with US armaments and ammunition, including heavy mortars and anti-tank missiles, have reached the Kurdish controlled northern Syrian city of Hasakah over the past weeks, Turkish and Kurdish media report.
The US arms shipment was reserved for the multi-ethnic Syrian militia known as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) dominated by Kurdish YPG units, according to the media reports.

The SDF is fighting Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL) and is preparing to launch an offensive on the city of Raqqa, considered to be the self-proclaimed capital of IS in Syria.

The trucks carrying the arsenal crossed into Syria from northern Iraq through the Simelka border crossing on two separate occasions on May 15 and May 20, Turkey's Daily Sabah reports.

The convoys reportedly moved to Hasakah and later headed to the Raqqa region where the SDF are currently battling Islamic State militants.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The question I would have to ask right now is, how long will Syria, Russia and Turkey allow this destabilisation to move forward in Syria?!?

Because the establishment of an independent Kurdistan will be seen as an existential threat by Turkey, who consider the Kurds an existential threat, and the Syrians and Russians, who don't dont want Syria having to yield one inch of its sovereign territory?!?

I don't know what the Vegas odds are on this, but I have to wonder; just when will American troops, fighting with the Kurds, be meeting up with Russian ground troops here?!?

Because my concern is, this is only a matter of when, not if, this happens, at this point.

US Killed Record Number of Civilians in Past Month of ISIS Strikes: At Least 225 Civilians in the Past Month

The US is eager to brag about their record number of airstrikes in the ISIS war, with the rate of growth in the number of strikes launched limited only by their ability to get enough weapons to drop on people. Officially, the death toll has remained trivial, albeit increasingly non-credible.

NGOs keeping track of the number of civilians the US is killing show a different story, however, with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights putting the death toll at 225 over the last month, which by their reckoning is the most civilians the US has killed in any one month span of the ISIS war.

That’s a conservative estimate too, even though it’s likely more than 10 times what the Pentagon will admit to. Indeed, Air Wars themselves counted 230 civilians killed in a single US strike in Mosul, and they too recognize that the civilian toll is continuing to rise precipitously

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the Pentagon and the money junkies, the civilian death toll in these countries is absolutely meaningless; it's just "collateral damage" in the process of regime changing Damascus, and insuring that Iraq's oil is only sold to parties the US wants it sold to, and is sold for US dollars.

The Republic Has Fallen: The Deep State’s Plot to Take Over America Has Succeeded

No doubt about it.The coup d’etat has been successful.
The Deep State—a.k.a. the police state a.k.a. the military industrial complex—has taken over.
The American system of representative government has been overthrown by a profit-driven, militaristic corporate state bent on total control and global domination through the imposition of martial law here at home and by fomenting wars abroad.

When in doubt, follow the money trail.

Enter Donald Trump, the candidate who swore to drain the swamp in Washington DC.

Instead of putting an end to the corruption, however, Trump has paved the way for lobbyists, corporations, the military industrial complex, and the Deep State to feast on the carcass of the dying American republic.

Xi asked Trump for ‘100 days’ to deal with North Korea problem

Chinese President Xi Jinping asked U.S. President Donald Trump for a 100-day grace period to deal with North Korea’s military provocations during their meeting in early April, according to several U.S. and Japanese sources.

At their talks in Florida, Trump asked Xi to strengthen economic sanctions against Pyongyang over its repeated ballistic missile and nuclear tests. China accounts for about 90 percent of North Korea’s foreign trade.

The U.S. president said that if Beijing did not cooperate, Washington was prepared to implement new sanctions against Chinese companies that have business dealings with North Korea, including several financial institutions, according to the sources.

Xi may have asked for the grace period to prevent such U.S. sanctions from making it difficult for the targeted Chinese companies to continue their business transactions with U.S. financial institutions and companies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF, in fact, this story is true, (and please note that this is not sourced), President Xi basically has until the end of June to turn Kim Jung Un's thinking around, when it comes to its nuclear weapons program.

The successful launching of a medium range missile last weekend does not seem to indicate that China has had an effect yet on moderating North Korea's missile program to date.

IF, in fact, these reports are true, I am hoping and praying that Chinese President Xi will "up his game" before the end of next month; otherwise, all hell could potentially break loose here, particularly if Kim Jung Un decides the "timing is right" to test a nuclear weapon

THE PRICE OF HELLFIRE MISSILES: EVERYTHING AMERICANS COULD BUY AT THE COST OF A DRONE STRIKE

As Donald Trump’s plan to Make America Great Again unfolds, there is at least one thing he will not need to worry about because the United States is already greatest at it — spending the most money to kill people. With US defense spending being more than the next 7 countries combined, none of our competitors will be catching up to us anytime soon. In this case, the greatness of the US is beyond question and it comes at a cost — but that is the price we pay for our freedom. And no one can put a price on freedom. But have any of you wondered — if you could put a price on freedom — what its cost would be? Or, in other words — how great exactly is the price of things like Hellfire missiles?

THE COSTS OF FREEDOM:
WHAT ELSE CAN WE BUY AT THE PRICE OF A HELLFIRE MISSILE?

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is amazing to me that Americans vote, and continue to vote, but absolutely nothing changes; the American Deep State's war agenda continues apace, with more military interventions through which foreign resources are expropriated, to which this country and its corporate minions have utterly no moral right; regimes are toppled and changed to insure that they are Western-centric (at least, nominally); those resources are only sold in US dollars; and countries get balkanized, and left in chaos and ruins, in order to insure that they will never again be an "existential threat" to the United States, militarily or economically.

If you want want an example of this, writ large, just please remember what happened to Libya's Qaddafi, when he was about to announce that his country's oil was going to be sold in a national Libyan currency, the gold dinar, rather than US dollars; his country got invaded, and he got assassinated.

No one wants to talk about this, but at this point in this country's history, it appears that citizens of this country are absolutely not in any degree of control over it, whatsoever.

Yes, we have these elaborate, Kabuki-drama style national, and state, elections; but at the end of the day, it is the corporations which buy candidates to craft legislation to their liking, and the Deep American State, which are in control.

The country I thought I knew, no longer exists, outside of a complete fantasy construct; and I feel like an alien in my own land.

My eyes wide open to the brutal reality I see, where the most fragile in our society are simply abandoned, and am anticipating a very terrifying, martial future in the days and years to come.

North Korea's Latest Missile Test Brings Us One Step Closer To WWIII (Here's How We Got Here)

As time goes on, North Korea’s nuclear program is making war with the United States more and more likely. As SHTFplan.com's Daniel Lang details, we’re on a terrible path that no one knows how to escape from.

On the one hand, North Korea is clearly led by an unhinged and tyrannical government that can’t be trusted with nuclear weapons. So you can understand why the US is so determined to stop their progress with these weapons. But at the same time, those nuclear weapons could one day guarantee that the leaders of North Korea will remain in power for a long time. Those weapons would make any potential aggressor think twice about trying to invade the bellicose nation, so there’s no way that North Korea is going to abandon its nuclear program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This possibility is making residents of Oahu, military, or non-military, more than a little nervous.

KIM Jong-un has vowed to increase North Korea's military might following the successful deployment of a new-intermediate range ballistic missile on Sunday.

KIM Jong-un has vowed to increase North Korea's military might following the successful deployment of a new-intermediate range ballistic missile on Sunday.

After watching the launch of the new Pukguksong-2 missile, the North Korean dictator was reportedly satisfied with its accuracy and branded it a “successful strategic weapon”, according to state-run media outlet KCNA.

After the second missile launch in less than a week, KCNA reported: "Saying with pride that the missile's rate of hits is very accurate and Pukguksong-2 is a successful strategic weapon, [Kim Jong-un] approved the deployment of this weapon system for action.

Webmaster's Commentary:

to President Donald Trump; China's President Xi Jinping; Japan's Prime Minister Abe; gentlemen, a word please.

As much a pain as North Korea's Kim Jung Un may be to deal with, the only resolution of the issue of North Korean missiles is through negotiation, and right the heck now, thank you very much!!

What should be happening is the establishment of a peace accord for North Korea, with iron-clad promises of free trade, and lack of any restrictions against its economy, with the quid pro quo of North Korea stopping its nuclear weapons program when this takes effect.

And a short memo to Secretary of State Tillerson, who has reiterated that only when North Korea ends its nuclear weapons program, will the US be ready to negotiate; Mr. Tillerson, Kim Jung Un understands that his only possible ploy for preventing an invasion of his country is the development of a nuclear weapon as a deterrent.

He has seen what has happened to countries which do not have this, and is trying to insure that North Korea doesn't become yet another victim of "regime change."

The time for serious negotiations is now: the potential for horrific damage from an attack against North Korea would be horrific for the region as a whole.

BAE TO SETTLE BRIBERY CASES FOR MORE THAN $400 MILLION

Britain’s BAE Systems PLC reached settlements totaling almost $500 million with the U.S. Justice Department and the U.K. Serious Fraud Office to resolve longstanding corruption allegations that have dogged one of the world’s biggest defense contractors.

Under the agreements, London-based BAE will plead guilty to charges in both countries, relating to transactions that took place before 2002. The investigations examined whether BAE had made illegal payments to officials in various countries to secure lucrative contracts. The accusations have cast a shadow over BAE’s business, even as it has expanded world-wide.

“It allows us to draw a very heavy line under the legacy of very historical issues,” said BAE Chairman Dick Olver. “We’re pleased to see the uncertainty removed.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

And yet, demonstrating that the US has an absolutely two-tiered legal system, no one who actually did the bribing goes to prison.

The Uber-rich, particularly if they are weapons-manufacturing-centric, simply get off with a financial slap on the wrist; the company's annual income is roughly around one billion (or more).

SPECIAL: Jared Kushner Working for Israel to Enable Saudi Arabian Nuclear Attack Against Iran UPDATE 2: Gulf NATO to Wage War on Iran & Syria

ROBERT STEELE: I have learned from a person I trust that Jared Kushner is being used by Israel to rapidly enable Saudi Arabian nuclear attack capability against Iran. In his recent call to the Lockheed CEO asking for a 12% discount (it should have been 50%) on Lockheed’s missile defense system, Kushner was overheard discussing the arming of the Saudis with nuclear missiles with what sounded like an Israeli intelligence officer. See the Updates. Donald Trump is becoming impeachable by We the People.

My source tells me that the Israeli’s believe they can incite a limited nuclear war between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and that the nuclearization of Saudi Arabia will discourage Russia from deepening its support of Syria while also serving as a threat against Iran.

In Afghanistan, Civilian Casualties Happen by Design, Not by Accident

Even the waves of so-called “terrorists attacks” in Germany, Holland and France last year underscores that these are the conspiracy theories aimed at continuous war in Syria and elsewhere. Many Europeans would still keep faith with the war-mongers’ cooked-up stories and back the US and NATO’s intervention in Syria. The sole purpose of all these planned attacks was and is to demonize the Islamic State or Al-Qaeda and draw a whole support to wage a filthy war against “the nations” where these terrorists operate.

Unrest in Afghanistan is a recipe for more US weapons’ sales to war-exposed countries, viable drug trafficking that generates a profit far beyond measure, unearthing of underground resources worth of several trillion dollars, restraining of the regional military and economic rival powers and so others.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The sickening rhythm of "invade; regime change; occupy; expropriate resources; and insure those resources are only sold in US dollars" continues, unabated.

And in his weekend trip to Saudi Arabia, with that ginormous US arms deal he greenlit, it appears that President Trump is setting up that country for a proxy war against Iran, to regime change that country as well.

But there is one minor problem; in both Syria, and Iran, Russia's leadership has pledged both countries to resist any attempt at regime change; and the Russian military is very formidable, at this point in its history.

War with Russia over Syria and Iran?!?

That's precisely where the US government and military are headed right now, and unless there are some American leaders willing to bring some semblance of sanity back to DC, it is not a question of if, but when, such wars will happen.

North Korea fires medium-range missile in latest test

North Korea on Sunday fired a medium-range missile, U.S. and South Korean officials said, in the latest ballistics test for a country speeding up its development of nuclear weapons and missiles.

The rocket was fired from an area near the North Korean county of Pukchang, in South Phyongan Province, and flew eastward about 310 miles, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. It did not immediately provide more details.

White House officials traveling in Saudi Arabia with President Donald Trump said the system, which was last tested in February, has a shorter range than the missiles launched in North Korea's most recent tests.

U.S. Pacific Command said it tracked the missile until it landed into the sea.

Preparing for the Collapse of the Petrodollar System, Part 1

by Jerry Robinson

Recently, there have been many news headlines containing the words “Iran”, “nuclear capability”, “Syria“, and “Islamic State“. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the drumbeats of a fresh war in the Middle East.

As an economist, I have been trained to view the world through the lens of incentives. (I am a "bottom line" kind of guy.) And just as every action is motivated by an underlying incentive, every decision has a related consequence.

This brief article details the actions, incentives, and related consequences that the United States has created through its attempts to maintain global hegemony through something known as the petrodollar system.

Mattis: North Korea Military Solution Would Be "Tragic On An Unbelievable Scale"

With the media narrative once again focused squarely on Trump and the "Russian connection", something which will unlikely change over the next week absent "fireworks" elsewhere, the story of potential military intervention in South Korea has understandably dropped from the front pages. Although with a second US aircraft carrier now en route to the Korean Peninsula, and with Trump desperate for another "big bang" distraction, is it shortsighted to underestimate the potential of another geopolitical hotspot emerging in the next few days.

While the answer is unknown, on Friday afternoon Defense Secretary Jim Mattis reminded the American public just how high tht potential stakes are when he said that any military solution to the North Korea crisis would be "tragic on an unbelievable scale" and that Washington was working internationally to find a diplomatic solution.

Webmaster's Commentary:

China is not the problem here; how the problem can best be characterised, is that the US government is intransigent in its position that there can be no negotiations before North Korea abandons its nuclear missiles program, which means, in Kim Jung Un's mind, that North Korea should be vulnerable to invasion.

What should be happening here is a multi-lateral conference, between the US; North Korea; South Korea, and China, which would create a peace treaty to replace the existing armistice, with the quid pro quo being, that North Korea ends its nuclear weapons program in return for guarantees on trade and free movement of its people and its goods.

Of course, that...would be logical.

US: Syria Restoring Its Territory Will 'Not Be Accepted'

As we reported last week the Syrian army is making progress in the southern desert. It is edging eastwards towards the Iraqi border and towards joint US-rebel positions at al-Tanf border crossing.

We asked what happens when these two forces come within shooting distance of each other.

The question is all the more acute now as it has become apparent the US believes Syria requires US permission to restore its territory. As The Telegraph reports:

The US has sent a clear message that any government advance towards their base will not be accepted. However, it is unclear how the special forces will react to any serious provocation.

You may have thought it would be the US which required government permission to set itself up in al-Tanf, but apparently it's the other way around. It must be that al-Tanf is actually in Arizona or New Mexico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Invading and bombing a sovereign country, which has done absolutely nothing against the US, as has been the case in Syria, where there is utterly no declaration of war, constitutes a war crime; I wish someone could explain that to President Trump.

But as I indicated in an article I posted yesterday, President "Moriarty" Trump believes war is great for the US economy, as he is on the cusp of his first visit as President to Saudi Arabia to sign new weapons deals with the Saudi government, which will be used to further the genocide in Yemen, as well as ultimately bring about a shooting war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia characterises Iran as its "existential threat" in the region.

But the Saudis (and the American military) had better be aware that should Iran be attacked, both political and civilian leaders in Russia have vowed to come to Iran's aid.

War against Russia, in light of the fact that the US military doesn't have the troop strength, the weaponry, the money or the manufacturing to win a convention war against Russia?!?

I really don't think so!!

How Military Industrial Complex is Pushing US Toward New 'Missile Crisis

The US' dangerous muscle-flexing in Asia-Pacific is a continuation of Obama's "pivot to Asia" strategy, US peace activist Jan R. Weinberg told Sputnik. To avoid yet another missile crisis all the parties involved need to start negotiations over the long-term disarmament and eradication of nuclear weapons in the region, he stressed.

In his March interview with Sputnik the founder of "Show Up! America," Jan R. Weinberg, warned that the US-led militarization of the Asia-Pacific region might turn into the "American Missile Crisis."

"The American Missile Crisis may very well become the term that historians use to describe the precipitously dangerous, present day, militarization and terrorism issues within the Indo-Asia-Pacific region," he warned.

The Buttinski Should Butt Out of Korea

Korea is none of the U.S. government’s business. The only proper course of action is for the Pentagon and the CIA to exit the country and bring those 23,000 American soldiers stationed in Korea home. No negotiations. No agreements. No talks. Just butt out of what is none of your business and exit the scene by coming home.

Why are there 23,000 U.S. troops in Korea? It’s because the U.S. government, headed by President Harry S. Truman and his newly established national-security establishment, decided to intervene in another country’s civil war more than half-a-century ago.

That’s right — a civil war. That’s all it was.

Armed Drones: America’s Favorite Weapon, Blurring the Line between Warfare and Assassination

President Barack Obama has received much credit for drawing down American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, but less attention has been paid to his administration’s embrace of armed drones. His expansion of covert drone strikes goes far beyond that of former President George W. Bush, and has blurred the line between warfare and assassination. The classified processes used by the White House for approving these remote killings in foreign countries – countries which the U.S. is not officially at war with – has people questioning not only the Obama administration’s tactics, but also the collateral damage of civilian casualties left in its wake.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The use of drone strikes obliterates the concept of due process, which is deeply woven into the basic tenants of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The collateral damage these strikes do is enormous.

And they may well be radicalizing generations of people against the United State; sometimes, I have to wonder if this is not part of the design intent, this creation of a perpetual state of war, from which the US military/industrial complex profits handsomely.

U.S. MILITARY IS WORLD’S LARGEST POLLUTER – HUNDREDS OF BASES GRAVELY CONTAMINATED

Last week, mainstream media outlets gave minimal attention to the news that the U.S. Naval station in Virginia Beach had spilled an estimated 94,000 gallons of jet fuel into a nearby waterway, less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean. While the incident was by no means as catastrophic as some other pipeline spills, it underscores an important yet little-known fact – that the U.S. Department of Defense is both the nation’s and the world’s, largest polluter.

Producing more hazardous waste than the five largest U.S. chemical companies combined, the U.S. Department of Defense has left its toxic legacy throughout the world in the form of depleted uranium, oil, jet fuel, pesticides, defoliants like Agent Orange and lead, among others.

In 2014, the former head of the Pentagon’s environmental program told Newsweek that her office has to contend with 39,000 contaminated areas spread across 19 million acres just in the U.S. alone.

The United Arab Emirates’s recent military decisions include violently ending democratic protests in Bahrain and participating in Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen. There have recently been massive protests against the Saudi Arabian/UAE terrorism against Yemen civilians, including using US supplied chemical weapons. The UAE participated in the terrible crimes that some call a genocide, and now they will be armed with another $2 billion dollars worth of US supplied weapons.

The Pentagon has issued a statement today confirming that the US State Department has signed off on a $2 billion sale of US-made Patriot missiles to the United Arab Emirates, adding to the tiny Gulf nation’s ever-growing military arsenal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How wonderful that US weapons manufacturers are making a killing under President Trump's watch, both literally and figuratively.

Are You Ready to Die?

In George Orwell’s 1949 dystopian novel, 1984, information that no longer is consistent with Big Brother’s explanations is chucked down the Memory Hole. In the real American dystopia in which we currently live, the information is never reported at all.

On April 26—16 days ago—Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznihir, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, stated at the Moscow International Security Conference that the Operations Command of the Russian General Staff has concluded that Washington is preparing a nuclear first strike on Russia.

How to smuggle US nuclear triggers to Israel

On May 3, 2017 the Department of Homeland Security released the most detailed files to date on the 1979-1983 Richard Kelly Smyth/Arnon Milchan/Benjamin Netanyahu krytron smuggling ring. The 100-page dossier (PDF) answers important questions about how highly sensitive US nuclear weapons technologies were smuggled out of the country in the early 1980s. The pages leave two key questions unanswered. The first is why Arnon Milchan was not indicted alongside his co-conspirator Richard Kelly Smyth. The second is why in 2016 Secretary of State John Kerry granted Milchan a long-term visa to reside in the United States even after career Department of State officials initially refused.

Trump Rejects Digital Catapults for Aircraft Carriers, Demands Return to ‘Goddamn Steam’

In the course of his interview with Time Magazine, President Trump revealed an exchange during a recent tour of the USS Gerald R. Ford, an aircraft carrier, during which he discovered that newer US aircraft carriers like the Ford use digital catapult systems for launching aircrafts.

Trump was apparently livid with the discovery, saying that digital “sounded bad to me” and demanding that the aircraft carriers go back to using “goddamn steam” for their launches, claiming it would save hundreds of millions of dollars.

There’s no evidence to support the money-saving suggestion, and the switch to the digital EMALS launchers was seen by the Navy as a necessary one. Steam-based launchers, which use the steam produced by the carrier’s nuclear power plant, are described as high-maintenance system with no feedback control, and that’s just the start of their problems.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word please; a return to steam would be the equivalent of demanding that the US Army return to horses and buggies for transport; not a very practical idea.

And if it is humanly possible for you to do, please withhold public judgement on any technology about which you know absolutely nothing, as was the case here.

Technology is great, when it works; your job, sir, as President, is to make sure that America's weapons manufacturers understand that they will deliver their products on time; that they work as advertised, and that they are within the original budget, or there will be real consequences, and not just fines.

US Fighter Pilots Set to Fly Israeli Skies in Joint Air Force Drills

The US Army has confirmed that Israeli and US pilots will be engaging joint drills this week at Uvda Air Force Base near the Israeli city of Eliat. Aircrews will be trained in a number of exercises at the base’s advance facilities while other squadrons train in the Negev Desert.

While the role of enemy aircraft will be played by the Israel Defense Forces' "Flying Dragon" or "Red" Squadron, based at Uvda, teams will operate “enemy” missile launchers and radars and infantry troops will be acting as terrorists, according to the Jerusalem Post. Haaretz reported that a number of F-15 fighters have already been sent over by the US; the "Flying Dragon" squad flies F-16 jets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder here who the potential "targets" are supposed to be; but right now, were I a betting person, I would bet either Iran or Syria, or perhaps both.

But the problem here, stretched out on the Bosendorfer, and napping for the moment, is the 6,000 LB gorilla in the living room, and that is the presence of Russia in Syria, and Russia's oft-stated promise to assist Iran militarily, should a foreign government attempt to invade it.

War with Russia over Syria and/or Iran?!?

That those collectively in the bowels of power in both the Unhinged State of America, and Tel Aviv, should even be "thinking" in this direction is collective, hubristic madness.

S. Korea's new president willing to visit rival North

New South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Wednesday he was open to visiting rival North Korea under the right conditions to talk about Pyongyang's aggressive pursuit of nuclear-tipped missiles.

Moon's softer stance on North Korea could create friction with Washington, which has swung from threats of military action to hints of dialogue as it seeks to formulate a policy under President Donald Trump.

Moon, speaking during his oath of office as the first liberal leader in a decade, also said he'll "sincerely negotiate" with the United States, Seoul's top ally, and China, South Korea's top trading partner, over the contentious deployment of an advanced U.S. missile-defense system in southern South Korea. The system has angered Beijing, which says its powerful radars allow Washington to spy on its own military operations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These statements and sentiments will be characterized by the American Deep State as "double plus ungood", and not the outcome they had wanted, particularly in light of the following:

New South Korean President wants to resolve THAAD issue through negotiations with China and US

So, what should be celebrated as a breath of fresh air for both North and South Korea, is most probably being viewed as an horrendous turn of events by the ever war-centric creatures in the bowels of power in the Unhinged States of America.

The question is, what are they actually willing to do about it, short of a decap strike against South Korean President Moon Jae-in, or a false flag, to be blamed on North Korea?!?

Unfortunately, this move in a peaceful direction by President Moon may well be thwarted by the American Deep State; it is a matter of when, and how, and tensions on the Korean peninsula will most probably be kept artificially high, courtesy of the US government, to achieve their goals, if possible.

US Says ‘Yes’ to Nuke Tests, ‘No’ to a Nuke Ban Treaty

Twice in seven days the United States shot nuclear-capable long-range missiles toward the Marshall Islands, but the same government refused in March to join negotiations for a new treaty banning nuclear weapons.

In late March, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley explained why the US would boycott the "treaty ban" negotiations that began March 27 at the UN in New York City. Haley said about nuclear weapons, "[W]e can’t honestly say that we can protect our people by allowing the bad actors to have them, and those of us that are good, trying to keep peace and safety not to have them." North Korean president Kim Jong-un could have said the same thing about his seven nuclear warheads, especially in view of US bombs and missiles currently falling on seven countries – Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and Libya – and engagement in massive war games off the Korean peninsula.

IRmep asks appeals court to block Trump transfer of $3.7 billion in US aid to nuclear Israel

On May 8, 2017 IRmep Director Grant F. Smith filed an emergency motion asking the US Court of Appeals for an injunction on the immanent transfer of US foreign military assistance to Israel.

On May 5 President Trump signed into law a temporary spending measure designed to keep the US government running until September. The law included $3.7 billion in foreign aid to Israel.

Appellants argue that Israel’s nuclear weapons program requires either that the aid be withheld, or that long-neglected special procedures under the Arms Export Control Act be followed. The Trump administration has not issued required special waivers, as has been done for Pakistan and other nuclear weapons countries, that would make the aid legal under the Symington & Glenn Amendments.

Jordan, US launch Eager Lion military exercise

Jordan and the United States kicked off Eager Lion, an annual military exercise with about 7,400 troops from more than 20 nations taking part, on Sunday.

US and Jordanian officials said the manoeuvres would include border security, cyber-defence, and "command and control" exercises to bolster coordination in response to threats including "terrorism".

"Joint efforts and coordination and the exchange of expertise ... are needed at the time when the region is facing the threat of terrorism," Jordanian Brigadier-General Khalid al-Sharaa, who will head the exercise, told reporters.

US Major-General Bill Hickman, deputy commanding officer for the American army in the region, said this year's Eager Lion exercise - the seventh so far - is "the largest and most complex to date".

These Nuclear Breakthroughs Are Endangering the World

At a time of growing tensions between nuclear powers – Russia and NATO in Europe, and the US, North Korea, and China in Asia – Washington has quietly upgraded its nuclear weapons arsenal to create, according to three leading American scientists, “exactly what one would expect to see, if a nuclear-armed state were planning to have the capacity to fight and win a nuclear war by disarming enemies with a surprise first strike.”

Writing in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project of the Federation of American Scientists, Matthew McKinzie of the National Resources Defense Council, and physicist and ballistic missile expert Theodore Postol conclude that “Under the veil of an otherwise-legitimate warhead life-extension program,” the US military has vastly expanded the “killing power” of its warheads such that it can “now destroy all of Russia’s ICBM silos.”

OBAMA DID A HIGHLY SUSPECT $400M + ARMS DEAL ON HIS FINAL DAY AS PRESIDENT, US LAWMAKER CALLS FOR PROBE INTO POSSIBLE $418M ARMS SALE TO KENYA

A North Carolina congressman is calling for a probe into a potential $418 million contract between Kenya and a major U.S. defense contractor announced on President Obama's last day in office -- a deal the lawmaker claims reeks of cronyism.

Republican Rep. Ted Budd wants the Government Accountability Office to investigate a deal between the African nation and New York-based L3 Technologies for the sale of 12 weaponized border patrol planes. He said he wants to know why a veteran-owned small company in North Carolina – which specializes in making such planes – was not considered as the manufacturer.

IOMAX USA Inc., based in Mooresville and founded by a U.S. Army veteran, offered to build Kenya the weaponized planes for roughly $281 million – far cheaper than what its competitor, L3, is selling them for.

"Something smells wrong here," Budd told Fox News. "The U.S. Air Force bypassed IOMAX, which has 50 of these planes already in service in the Middle East."

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Pure coincidence", my ASTROLABE?!?

If there was ever a political animal in the White House who understood how to milk crony capitalism, it was President Barak Obama.

I am quite certain that President Obama received his (covertly done) reward from L3 when then deal was struck; after all, being President of the Unhinged States of America is generally all about the money and deals you can conjure up afterward.

Sauron Rules in Washington

A reader asked why neoconservatives push toward nuclear war when there can be no winners. If all die, what is the point?

Their insane plan is as follows: Washington will ring Russia and China with anti-ballistic missile bases in order to provide a shield against a retaliatory strike from Russia and China. Moreover, these US anti-ABM bases also can deploy nuclear attack missiles unknown to Russia and China, thus reducing the warning time to five minutes, leaving Washington’s victims little or no time in which to make a decision.

It is Washington that wants to snuff out human morality and beome the master of the planet. As I have previously written, Washington without any question is Sauron. The only important question is whether there is sufficient good left in the world to resist and overcome Washington’s evil.

Elite troops are being worked too hard and spread too thin, military commander warns

The breakneck pace at which the United States deploys its special operations forces to conflict zones is taking a toll, their top commander told Congress on Thursday.

Army Gen. Raymond Thomas, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, called the rate at which special operations forces are being deployed “unsustainable” and said the growing reliance of the U.S. military on its elite troops could produce a dangerous strain.

“We are not a panacea,” he told the Senate Armed Services Committee. “We are not the ultimate solution to every problem, and you will not hear that coming from us.”

About 8,000 U.S. special forces are currently deployed in more than 80 countries, Thomas said. Many are at the forefront of advising missions in Syria and Iraq as well as counterterrorism missions in Afghanistan. There are about 500 special operators in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This over stress of our Special Forces is one of the reasons I believe that the US government will be returning to the draft in the very near future.

Please understand: I respect our military greatly, and believe that they should get the best of everything, including the kind of health care Dick Cheney receives; they have earned it.

But that being said, as a Christian pacifist activist, I wish to heck that the US government would frequently employ moral, hard-won negotiations as the way in which to resolve its geopolitical differences, rather than through war.

What the N. Korean “Crisis” Is Really About

The North Korean “crisis” is a Washington orchestration. North Korea was last at war 1950-53. N. Korea has not attacked or invaded anyone in 64 years. N. Korea lacks the military strength to attack any country, such as South Korea and Japan, that is protected by the US. Moreover, China would not permit N. Korea to start a war.

So what is the demonization of N. Korea by the presstitutes and Trump administration about?

It is about the same thing that the demonization of Iran was about. The “Iranian threat” was an orchestration that was used as cover to put US anti-ballistic missile bases on Russia’s borders. An anti-ballistic missile (ABM) is intended to intercept and destroy nuclear-armed ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) and prevent them from reaching their targets.

Alarm Grows in Washington as Saudi Coalition Attack on Yemen Port Appears Imminent

The Saudi war in Yemen has already been a humanitarian disaster, and nowhere has that been more apparent than in the nation’s Shi’ite north, where a naval blockade and the fall of all but one Houthi-held port have dramatically limited access to food aid. And it’s about to get a lot worse.

With signs that a Saudi attack on that last port, Hodeidah, the Pentagon has made clear they’d very much like to join the Saudi invasion, seeing the conquest of that last aid port as a hugely decisive moment in the war. Congress, however, isn’t nearly so supportive.

A new open letter from a bipartisan group of Congressmen has called on Defense Secretary James Mattis to “reconsider” the push for involvement, warning that support for the war was never authorized by Congress, and that the US shouldn’t participates in the “senseless humanitarian tragedy.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This statement from Congress is not going to deter the Pentagon from pressing forward with this US-militarily enabled, Saudi war crimes and genocide in Yemen; The US government has allowed the Saudis to buy weapons and has (allegedly) provided "guidance" for their air assaults.

Fact: the Saudis have been killing and maiming Yemeni children in these bombing runs.

Images: Yemeni children assassinated and maimed for life from Saudi bombings

Fact: the Saudi blockade of Yemeni ports has resulted in children dying horrifically from the effects of malnutrition and starvation.Images: Yemeni children slowly,
horrifically dying from malnutrition, due to Saudi port blockades

Fact: the Saudi military are using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen.

Images: Saudi military using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen

Fact: the use of depleted uranium is having precisely the same effect on Yemeni babies in the womb as it did in Fallujah, Iraq, which means that in Yemen, doctors whose hospitals have not yet been bombed into rubble by the Saudis are seeing a massive spike in cancers, birth defects, and stillbirths. Warning: these images are very graphic.

Images: Yemeni children born with profound birth defects, courtesy of Saudi use of depleted uranium

Having been complicit in Saudi war crimes in Yemen for the past two years, the Pentagon will only see the assassinations of innocent civilians with their "victory" at Hodeidah as simply collateral damage, and of no consequence whatsoever.

In fact, the US government's willing participation and complicity in Saudi war crimes in Yemen very much reminds me of the statement made by the Papal legate at the siege of Montsegur against the Cathars. Upon being informed that there were women and children there, as well as men, he gave the command: "Kill them all; God will find his own."

In fact, I am rather astonished that the US military hasn't dropped MOABS over all the major civilian population centers in Yemen by now, to kill every Yemeni civilian who is still breathing, to put an end, once and for all, to the Houthi insurgency

POWER IN MILITARY BLACK BUDGETS

The top five military contractors by sales are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumann, General Dynamics and Raytheon. In addition to the Department of Defense allocations, the top five intelligence agencies that often provide military use applications are the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the National Reconnaissance Office, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Program and the General Defense Intelligence Program. The actual amount of monies that go into funding off the books secret projects, estimated by Bill Sweetman as cited in the Economic Crisis and the Pentagon`s Black Budget, exceeds rational comprehension. "The Pentagon’s ‘black’ operations, including the intelligence budgets nested inside it, are roughly equal in magnitude to the entire defense budgets of the UK, France or Japan, and ten percent of the total."

Webmaster's Commentary:

The amount of money spent, and untracked here, is absoflippinglutely unbelievable.

North Korea says U.S. bomber flights push peninsula to brink of nuclear war

North Korea accused the United States on Tuesday of pushing the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war after a pair of strategic U.S. bombers flew training drills with the South Korean and Japanese air forces in another show of strength.

The two supersonic B-1B Lancer bombers were deployed amid rising tensions over North Korea's pursuit of its nuclear and missile programmes in defiance of U.N. sanctions and pressure from the United States.

The flight of the two bombers on Monday came as U.S. President Donald Trump said he would be "honoured" to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the right circumstances, and as his CIA director landed in South Korea for talks.

South Korean Defence Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun told a briefing in Seoul that Monday's joint drill was conducted to deter provocations by the North.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The American Deep State is hungry for war; and in light of the fact that the demonisation of Russia appears to be somewhat subdued, at least at the moment, North Korea made itself a convenient target when it resumed its bombing tests.

I would like to hope that South Korea is able to, peacefully, elect its new president one week from today, but that remains to be seen.

IF North Korea holds off on any testing until well after the elections in the south, hoping for a "dove" who favors the Sunshine Policy with the north, the only way the US government can get its war going is through a false flag; and if South Korea gets its peace candidate elected, look for a US-generated false flag, to be blamed on North Korea to get the war well and truly moving.

And looking at the predilections of the American Deep State, I would not put it past the US government to do just that.

The Relentless Push Towards War: “What Could Possibly Go Wrong… How About EVERYTHING?”

Possible reasons range from an itchy military industrial complex that is disappointed that it cannot seem to goad the US into war with Russia and North Korea just happened to be next on the list, to the idea that Trump is really seeking trade deal concessions from South Korea and is using the North Korean situation as leverage.

The latter is not out of the realm of the possible, with Trump having said he wants South Korea to pay for the THAAD system being installed and that he wants to renegotiate our balance of trade with them, too.

Who says stuff like that at a time when war might break out? Someone who doesn’t really appreciate the gravity of the situation, I’d suggest. I mean, if it’s a negotiating tactic, it’s one that could end up with a lot of people losing their lives and a ruined economy. If it’s a negotiating tactic stapled to a crisis, it’s still an odd thing.

Conclusion

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope and pray that the Trump Administration will find a way, other than war, to deal with North Korea; but right now, as this article indicates, elements in the Deep American state are leading the drive toward a war against it.

And unfortunately, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing our government could do, is absolutely no guarantee that it won't do it!!.

America’s War against the People of Korea: The Historical Record of US War Crimes

An armistice is an agreement by the warring parties to stop fighting. It does signify the end of war.

What underlies the 1953 Armistice Agreement is that one of the warring parties, namely the US has consistently threatened to wage war on the DPRK for the last 60 years.

The US has on countless occasions violated the Armistice Agreement. It has remained on a war footing. Casually ignored by the Western media and the international community, the US has actively deployed nuclear weapons targeted at North Korea for more than half a century in violation of article 13b) of the Armistice agreement.

The armistice remains in force. The US is still at war with Korea. It is not a peace treaty, a peace agreement was never signed.

How Bio-Weapons Led To Torture ... And North Korean Nukes

In Why North Korea Needs Nukes - And How To End That we pointed to the utter destruction the U.S. and its allies waged in the war on Korea on all parts of the country. That North Korea seeks "weapons of mass destruction" is quite understandable when one takes into account the hundreds of thousands tons of napalm used against it. But even Napalm and the criminal destruction of North Korean dams were not the worst depravation the U.S. applied. Biological warfare agents, primarily anthrax, were dropped over North Korea and China and killed civilians. The U.S./UN command denied such use and covered it up. One consequence of that cover up was the development of torture methods in the U.S. SERE pilot training programs and their later proliferation into criminal abuses in Guantanamo, Abu Graibh and elsewhere. An important piece of evidence of this trail was recently and for the first time re-published on the web

Before South Korea’s conservative presidents severed ties with North Korea from 2008, their liberal predecessors Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun promoted peaceful engagement and rapprochement, an approach called the “sunshine policy.”

The name stemmed from an ancient Greek fable where the wind and the sun competed to remove a man’s cloak. No matter how strongly the wind blew, the man only wrapped his cloak more tightly to keep warm. But when the sun shone, the warmth made him take his cloak off. The wind symbolized unsuccessful coercive policies toward North Korea and the sun stood for an approach able to persuade North Korea to take off its anachronistic and uncomfortable cloak, changing at last.

Russia will be able to give a tough answer to a nuclear strike that the United States may inflict on Russia, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, Franz Klintsevich said, RIA Novosti reports.

The senator has thus commented on the statement from first deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of Russia's General Staff, Gen. Viktor Poznikhir. According to the general, the US missile defense system in Europe creates an opportunity for a sudden nuclear attack on Russia.

According to Klintsevich, the general sent a clear signal to the US leadership and warned the United States any any development of events will not come as a surprise to Russia. "I think that this reminder will not be superfluous. Let them know what we know, so to speak," the senator wrote on his Facebook page.

BEXALERT: GOP Lawmaker: U.S. Won’t Spray Opium in Afghanistan Because Crops ‘Might Be Too Close to a Mosque’

WASHINGTON D.C. — The United States had the ability to use aerial spraying to destroy the opium crops in Afghanistan used by the Taliban to fund their terrorist activities after 9/11 but refused to do so out of concern that the plants “might be too close to a mosque,” declared Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) during a congressional hearing.

We all know why they wont spray the poppies. Cuts into the CIA's profits!

US Pacific Commander: Pyongyang’s Actions Could Justify Invasion of North Korea

Appearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) on Thursday, US Pacific Commander Admiral Harry Harris Jr. refused to take an American invasion of North Korea off the table, as Pyongyang has already “provided provocation” to justify such an invasion, the District Sentinel reported.

In an exchange charitably describable as awkward, Harris was asked by South Carolina Republican and SASC member Lindsey Graham, "Is it fair to say, we do not have any intention of invading North Korea at all? Nobody has told you get ready to invade North Korea."

"That is not fair to say, sir," Harris answered, probably not the reply Graham was hoping for. "I believe the president has said that all options are on the table."

Harris: "I don't want to get into what we could or couldn't do."

"Well North Korea thinks we're going to invade at any moment. Do you think that's part of our national security strategy – without provocation to attack North Korea?" Graham asked.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The cost of such an invasion of North Korea, in blood and money, would be horrific; I would like to hope that the US government is not seriously thinking about doing this.

China To Test New Weapons, Stage Live Fire Drills In Retaliation To US THAAD Deployment

Two days after the US military began to move the controversial THAAD anti-missile system into its deployment site in a South Korean golf course (over the protests of hundreds of locals who were promptly quieted when the police showed up), despite vocal protests from China which is "resolutely opposed" to the THAAD deployment and believes such a move would destabilize the regional balance of power, China said on Thursday that it would stage live fire drills and test new weapons to protect its national security, its Defense Ministry said.

"The deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea damages the regional strategic balance and stability. The Chinese side is resolutely opposed to this" Defense Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun told reporters on Thursday when asked about the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I thought that after Zi Jinping's visit with President Trump at "War-a-Largo", that relations between our two countries were going to get better; apparently, by moving the THAAD system into South Korea, and very much earlier than originally scheduled, President Trump has ticked off Chinese President Jinping mightily.

Please Lord, let cooler heads prevail here; Chinese rockets CAN hit Hawaii, so color Mike and I thoroughly nervous, upon this development.

Japan Warns Citizens To Prepare For North Korean Missile Attack

As the United States begins to move elements of its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to a deployment site in South Korea earlier than expected - in the name of defending against the “evil North Korea” of the mainstream narrative - Japan is warning its citizens they’ll have little time to find safety if Kim Jong-un launches an attack.

The government’s advice, essentially, is to find cover, meaning a sturdy building or structure — in itself a largely ineffectual tip, given their own guidelines admit “It is extremely difficult to be able to pinpoint missile landing areas before their launch.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I frankly think Kim Jung Un is too wily to order an attack against either Japan or South Korea, because he understands that the US will uncork, and turn North Korea into a molten sea of green glass if he does so; if something happens off of either country, it will most probably be a US-instigated "false flag" to get the war going, and time is definitely running out before South Korea's 9 May election to do this.

But I am still not really certain, at the moment, that this will happen; the Senators who attended yesterday's briefing left with little hard evidence, and probably, more questions than answers.

I will be very interested in seeing the responses of members of the House to their briefing, which happens later today.

Trump has Major Trip to Saudi Arabia Planned, will Discuss Massive Weapons Deal for Saudis

Bowing to pressure from the H.R. McMaster, Dina Powell, Gary Cohn coalition, President Donald Trump’s first overseas trip is scheduled to be in Saudi Arabia, multiple sources confirmed after Steve Holland of Reuters first reported rumors of the trip. This decision has split Trump’s base, which views the Saudis as the largest state sponsor of Islamic terrorism.

During the visit Trump will discuss a proposed arms package for the Saudis, which would include a massive missile defense system as well as civilian nuclear technology. Behind the scenes McMaster will be seeking Saudi support for a ground war in Syria, which Mike Cernovich first reported in an article whose reporting was confirmed by Eli Lake of Bloomberg.

“Trump doesn’t want to go,” one person with knowledge of the trip said, “but Powell and Cohn are making him.”

When asked how Powell and Cohn could force President Trump do to anything, the source replied,

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, now we know who's calling the shots on American foreign policy, and that's the "unholy trinity" of McMaster, Powell, and Cohn.

The offensive weapons will be used to finish the Saudi genocide in Yemen, which is an appalling mass of war crimes, which just gets worse by the hour.

And the defensive weapons are designed to put Saudi Arabia on defense and nuclear parity with Iran.

But getting Saudi Arabi to sign off on a ground war in Syria?!? This most probably means two things; direct military confrontation with Russia here, and most probably the return of the draft.

The reuters article about it indicates that such a meeting will most probably happen in late May, when President Trump will be Europe for meetings, or perhaps early June:

Trump is already planning to attend a NATO summit in Brussels on May 25 and travel to Sicily for a Group of Seven leaders' summit scheduled for May 26-28.

Even if the US really backs off on its aggressive posture against North Korea, we are still then looking at yet another massive military intervention in the Middle East. And frankly, I am expecting that to go just as well.... as have the US military interventions in Afghanistan; Iraq; Libya; Somalia; and Syria.

Pentagon Warns of Heavy Casualties in a New Korean War

While the content of a high-profile White House meeting in which the entire US Senate was briefed about North Korea has not been totally made public, official attempts to emphasize the non-military efforts being made appear to be just one aspect of the story, as the consequences of a military conflict appear to also have been discussed.

Military officials emphasized the increased naval buildup around the Korean Peninsula, and preparations being made for a new Korean War, while also offering some frank warnings that North Korea would certainly retaliate against an American attack, and that such a retaliation would include major attacks against US forces in South Korea, and the South Korean capital of Seoul.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The cost, in blood and money, for such an attack would be monumental on both sides.

What the US government should be doing is working with Chinese President Xi Jinping to get North Korean leadership back to the negotiating table, as well as South Korea, and put together a true peace treaty, which would replace the existing armistice (which is simply the cessation of hostilities), with the quid pro quo that for the peace treaty, North Korea stops its nuclear weapons program.

Of course, this...would be logical.

Lavrov: Heavy-Handed Stance on N Korea ‘Fraught With Catastrophic Consequences’

The Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday warned that military options in resolving the North Korean issue are fraught with disaster in the region, reiterating Moscow’s concerns with the deployment of the US missile system in South Korea.

“It is obvious that heavy-handed approaches that are beginning to be mentioned publicly are fraught with catastrophic consequences for the Korean Peninsula and the whole of Northeast Asia,” Lavrov said.

Speaking at the VI Moscow Conference on International Security, he expressed concern about the degrading situation in the region with North Korea’s continued development of its nuclear missile program.

Lavrov also voiced Moscow’s disapproval “with the disproportionate build-up under the pretext of the North Korean threat of the US and its regional allies’ military activity.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have a great deal of respect for Lavrov, and his assessment of the situation is absolutely correct.

I am very concerned about the amount of hardware and personnel the US has packed on those warships off the Korean peninsula. One miscalculation, one stupid mis-judgement, and we are off and running into a shooting war - not just with North Korea, but with China as well.

I am hoping - and praying - that nothing goes "bang" in the region before the South Korean election on 9 May, and if the favored candidate does exercise the "sunshine policy" with regard to North Korea, which is a policy of engagement and rapprochement with the North, that tensions will ratchet down.

Unfortunately, however, there are those in the "deep American state" who believe that war is the only way to turn the fragile US economy around, and they are still cheer-leading for it to happen.

And also, unfortunately, the state of Hawaii may well be the "sacrificial lamb", as it was to get World War II going, to get a new war going against North Korea.

The Looting Machine Called Capitalism

Capitalism is the Banksters economic system they have imposed on the Planet.
America's Original economic system was free enterprise. When the Brits tried to impose an early form of capitalism on America known as Mercantilism they got a Revolution. The Banksters eventually got us back into their Satanic Economic System. PCR is 100% right. Capitalism and its handmaiden fractional reserve banking also known as Usury are nothing but a Gigantic Looting and Killing Machine!
The Looting Machine Called Capitalism
Paul Craig Roberts

I have come to the conclusion that capitalism is successful primarily because it can impose the majority of the costs associated with its economic activities on outside parties and on the environment. In other words, capitalists make profits because their costs are externalized and born by others. In the US, society and the environment have to pick up the tab produced by capitalist activity.

7 Nuclear Weapon Screw-Ups You Won't Believe We Survived

From the 1950s up through the early 1990s, the specter of nuclear war cast a shadow over the world like a giant, gloomy mushroom tattoo. Hollywood and our own morbid imaginations came up with any number of scenarios that would wipe out humanity in a series of blinding flashes: robots, Russian and American policies of mutually assured destruction. But Kubrick was probably closest when he imagined the nuclear era as a game of poker between cocky, absent-minded lunatics. Only he probably didn't go far enough.

Tsar Bomba, largest thermonuclear hydrogen bomb ever tested

Tsar Bomba was big enough to cause a fireball that was seen 600 miles away, meaning if it was dropped over Manhattan, you would have been able to watch New York City burn from Virginia. Windowpanes would have been broken down through South Carolina. Even though they dropped Tsar Bomba over a deserted area in the Arctic Circle, wooden houses were destroyed and stone houses had their roofs blown off hundreds of miles away. The shock wave was so extreme that even with the parachute giving them a 20-mile head start, the plane that dropped it was knocked into a free fall for a half-mile before catching itself and continuing to get out of Dodge.

Gulp.

M1978 Koksan: 170-mm self-propelled gun

36+ miles with a RAP!

The M1978 Koksan self-propelled gun was developed in North Korea. A key requirement for this artillery system was the capability of reaching Seoul from the north of the demilitarized zone. Designation of this vehicle was allocated by the US Department of Defense. It was first observed by US intelligence in 1978 in the city of Koksan, hence its designation. This artillery system was first publicly revealed in 1985. It is in service with the North Korean army, however the number employed in not publicly reported.

A number of these self-propelled guns were supplied to Iran. Some of these were captured by Iraq in the late 1980s during Iran-Iraq war.

Trump Talks Tough on North Korea

On Wednesday afternoon, Trump will hold a briefing for all 100 senators on North Korea. Reportedly a similar session is planned for House members – both meetings to be held in a “sensitive compartmented information facility” in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Secretary of Defense Mattis, Joint Chiefs Chairman Dunford, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coates, and Secretary of State Tillerson will conduct the briefing.

On April 25, marking the anniversary of the founding of its army, North Korea held live-fire drills, involving hundreds of artillery pieces – instead of a sixth nuclear test some observers expected.

According to China Foundation for International and Strategic Studies Foreign Policy director Zhang Tuosheng, pressure from China, Washington, South Korea and Japan got Pyongyang to show restraint – whether short or longer-term remains to be seen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why the US government and military will most probably not wait until the 9 May election to create some kind of false flag against North Korea, and we'll be off and running.

The fact that China has been sending some mixed messages on their potential range of responses to a US tactical strike against North Korea makes Mike and me more than a little nervous; Oahu is a critical military communications link to all of Asia, and would be a first-strike target in case China decides to go to war with the US over any such incident against North Korea.

Le Parisien uncovers French lie on 1960 nuke test

A report says France covered up the extent of the nuclear fallout from its first atomic bomb test in North Africa.

The report published by the French daily Le Parisien was based on a recently declassified military map regarding the fallout from the detonation of the Gerbouise Bleue bomb in the Algerian desert in 1960.

The map revealed that radioactive particles reached the Italian island of Sicily and the southern Spanish coast on the 13th day after the blast.

Lawyer Fatima Benbraham, who represents dozens of cases in Algeria, said the map shows that Algeria and practically the whole Saharan region was contaminated following the atomic test.

Trump administration to brief full U.S. Congress on North Korea policy

U.S. lawmakers want to leave briefings on North Korea on Wednesday with something many think has been absent in the Trump administration so far: a clear strategy for dealing with a major national security threat.

As a standoff escalated over the reclusive Asian nation's development of nuclear weapons and long-range ballistic missiles, President Donald Trump invited all 100 members of the Senate to attend the session with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

While administration officials typically travel to the Capitol building to brief lawmakers on national security issues, on Wednesday the entire Senate will hop on a bus to the White House where four top officials will meet with them simultaneously. The same four officials will then go to Capitol Hill to brief the entire House at 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT), a senior House aide said.

Poroshenko hopes Trump will strike Donbass

Armed troops to the Donbass, which the Kiev administration immediately requested from the Americans, following the explosion of the OSCE vehicle n Lugansk. A cleansing of sorts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of its people.

Trump Wants Regime Change in Syria

In March 2011, Obama launched war on Syria to destroy its sovereignty and replace Assad with pro-Western puppet rule.

Trump upped the stakes. He escalated war, increased US terror-bombing, and doubled the number of US forces on the ground ahead of likely larger numbers coming.

His hugely dangerous war plan risks direct confrontation with Russia. Instead of governing responsibly, he’s recklessly risking possible nuclear war in the Middle East and on the Korean peninsula.

Commenting on the remark, Russian parliamentarian Frants Klintsevich warned of the devastating consequences of such an action.

Testing the X15 Flamethrower by FieldandStream

I’ve tested some pretty cool gear over the years—but nothing’s ever turned heads quite like the X15 Flamethrower. My demo model arrived just in time to use on a few fields I’d been planning to manage via prescribed fire. The X15 is much more dramatic than a standard drip torch.
