US Can't Stop Hypersonic Weapons, Air Force General Says

March 21, 2018 "Information Clearing House" - Missiles that spit out warheads traveling up to 20 times the speed of sound and with the ability to perform elusive acrobatics may be too much for U.S. defenses to block.

That's according to the head of the U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Gen. John Hyten, who testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday (March 20).

When asked by Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., what kind of defenses the U.S. has against hypersonic weapons, Hyten replied: "We have a very difficult — well, our defense is our deterrent capability. We don't have any defense that could deny the employment of such a weapon against us, so our response would be our deterrent force, which would be the triad and the nuclear capabilities that we have to respond to such a threat,"

40 tons of chemical weapons left by militants found in Syria – Russian MoD

Chemical weapon production facilities have been discovered in the areas liberated from militants in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry says.

More than 40 tons of chemical weapons were abandoned by retreating militants in the war-ravaged country, the ministry said on Wednesday. “The Syrian Foreign Ministry pointed out that more than 40 tons of poisonous substances were found on the territories, liberated from terrorists,” Igor Kirillov, the commander of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Forces, said on Wednesday.

Trump voices concerns to Putin over new Russian armaments - report

US President Donald Trump expressed concerns over new Russian armaments in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, The New York Times reported citing sources in the US administration.

During their call, "a senior official said, Mr. Trump told Mr. Putin he had been concerned by a recent speech in which Mr. Putin talked about Russia developing an "invincible" intercontinental cruise missile and a nuclear torpedo that could outsmart all American defenses," the report said.

The US leader also "raised the nuclear threat" in phone conversations with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to the paper.

“It Was a Crime”: 15 Years After U.S. Invasion, Iraqis Still Face Trauma, Destruction & Violence

It was 15 years ago today when the U.S. invaded Iraq on the false pretense that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was hiding weapons of mass destruction. The attack came despite worldwide protest and a lack of authorization from the United Nations Security Council. At around 5:30 a.m. in Baghdad on March 20, 2003, air raid sirens were heard as the U.S. invasion began. The fighting has yet to end, and the death toll may never be known.>>>

Pentagon Trained Syria’s Al Qaeda “Rebels” in the Use of Chemical Weapons, Confirmed by CNN

In a bitter irony, Moscow’s allegations directed against the U.S. are confirmed by CNN.

While the Western media casually upholds Washington’s narrative which consists in blaming Bashar Al Assad of killing his own people, coincidently they also refute their own lies. Not only do they confirm that the Pentagon has been training the terrorists in the use of chemical weapons for more than five years. they also acknowledge the existence of a not so secret “US-backed plan to launch a chemical weapon attack on Syria and blame it on Assad’s regime”

First Recorded Successful Novichok Synthesis Was in 2016 – by Iran, in Cooperation With OPCW

The line that novichoks can only be produced by Russia is now proven to be a complete lie. As I previously proved by referencing their publications, in 2013 the OPCW scientific advisory committee note the evidence was sparse that novichoks had ever been successfully produced, and that was still the line being published by Porton Down in 2016. You can find the hard evidence of all that here.

Assessing Russia's Military Strength

There is a popular point of view in some of Russia’s political circles, especially among those who profess monarchist views and cling to a famous meme of 1913 Tsarist Russia development statistics, that WW I was started by Germany to forestall Russia’s industrial development which would inevitably challenge Germany’s plans on domination of Europe. A somewhat similar argument could be made for the WW II, but, in general, preventive wars are nothing new in human history. While “preventive” argument may or may not be a valid one regarding WW I, there is no doubt that it could be used, among others, when explaining the origins of a war.

Flashback: Russia destroys last Cold War-era chemical weapons

Russia completed dismantling its Cold War-era chemical weapons arsenal on Wednesday, according to Russian officials and the head of the international chemical weapons watchdog.

"Russia has fulfilled the undertaken obligations to dispose of all of its stockpiles of this deadly type of weapons - about 40,000 tons ahead of schedule," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Russia's news agency, TASS.

The head of the Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ahmet Uzumcu, praised the announcement. "The completion of the verified destruction of Russia's chemical weapons program is a major milestone in the achievement of the goals of the Chemical Weapons Convention," he said.

Flashback: Russia Becomes First Country To Destroy All Of Its Chemical Weapons

Russia has become the first country in the world to destroy all of its chemical weapons, with the very last of its cache set to be destroyed by the end of 2017.

According to the head of Russia’s Federal Administration for the Safe Storage and Destruction of Chemical Weapons, Major General Valery Kapashin, only one percent of Russia’s chemical weapons stockpile is left to be destroyed.

Some “99 percent of the chemical weapons stored in Russia have been destroyed,” Major Kapashin said.

Rt.com reports: The remaining 400 tons of weaponized chemicals is currently “at the last facility in operation to store and destroy the chemical weapons, in the Kizner village in the Udmurt region,” Kapashin added.

Consequently, Russia meets the conditions stipulated in the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which it joined 20 years ago.

Chemical weapons expert says nerve agent used to poison Russian spy could not have been smuggled in his daughter's bag as it would have ‘killed hundreds on the plane’

The poisoning happened a few miles from the government's research laboratory at Porton Down, he said.

'Seventeen years ago in the same small town of Salisbury, where Skripal was poisoned, under mysterious circumstances, another Russian defector, biologist Vladimir Pasechnik was killed,' he said.

'The deaths of local, British scientists are taking place there with a frightening frequency.'

He did not give examples but tarred Skripal with smuggling chemical weapons.

'Perhaps he needed money, and given his past in the secret services, he somehow participated in the smuggling of chemical weapons?

'This version cannot be excluded. At the very least, it explains why traces of the warfare agent were found not only in the restaurant, but also at Skripal's house, on his things.'

A group of US lawmakers led by Senator Bob Menendez told the State Department in a letter that any sale of Russian S-400 air defense system should lead to new punitive measures as stipulated in the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

“We are writing today to specifically inquire about reported negotiations between Russia and certain countries over sales of the Russian government’s S-400 air defense system and whether these reported deals could trigger mandatory CAATSA sanctions,” the letter said on Friday. “Under any circumstance, a S-400 sale would be considered a ‘significant transaction’ and we expect that any sale would result in designations.”

The lawmakers also requested that the State Department provide detailed analysis on the current status of Russian S-400 talks with China, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and any other country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In that last statement, Senator Menendez is definitely heading into "pot...kettle...black" territory.

Does the Senator suffer from such a bad case of SMD (selective memory disorder), that he cannot remember that in 2014, the US sponsored the coup in Ukraine which unseated the duly elected President Yanukovich, and replaced him with Western Centric Poroshenko, a gentleman most likely with family mob connections, and assassins on speed dial?!?

President Obama admitted as much, as reported from globalresearch.ca in the following article:

Obama admits that the US brokered a deal in support of regime change in Ukraine

Now, as to preventing other nations in dialogue with Russia about the S-400 weaponry, such as China, Turky, India Saudia Arabia and Qatar; the system works far better, and is a lot cheaper than anything the US has to offer.

As described in Wikipedia:

The S-400 has been described, as of 2017, as "one of the best air-defence systems currently made."

The fact that the US's military industrial complex appears to be incapable of producing anything, to date, which can best it, is not Russia's fault.

To deny these countries access to it, is a form of international restraint of trade, and sanction Russia for selling this to them, creates insult added to injury, as though relations with Russia are not bad enough at the moment.

I would politely suggest, Senator, that what you COULD do, from an American perspective, is go on a fact-finding mission, as to why the American military complex, at this point, has nothing really to compete with the S-400, and just what they intend to do about it.

Of course, THAT... would be logical.

Exclusive: Does Israel Have Chemical Weapons Too?

Syria’s reported use of chemical weapons is threatening to turn the civil war there into a wider conflict. But the Bashar al-Assad government may not be the only one in the region with a nerve gas stockpile. A newly discovered CIA document indicates that Israel likely built up a chemical arsenal of its own.

It is almost universally believed in intelligence circles here in Washington that Israel possesses a stockpile of several hundred fission nuclear weapons, and perhaps even some high-yield thermonuclear weapons. Analysts believe the Israeli government built the nuclear stockpile in the 1960s and 1970s as a hedge against the remote possibility that the armies of its Arab neighbors could someday overwhelm the Israeli military. But nuclear weapons are not the only weapon of mass destruction that Israel has constructed.

The Neocon Full Court Press For War Is Here

The events of the past two weeks have been stunning. Since Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled new ‘doomsday’ weapon systems at his State of the Union address, the West has gone completely bonkers.

In the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, “I simply don’t have any normal terms left to describe all this,”

With the U.K. expelling Russian diplomats over the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury last week, the push to isolate Russia and create conditions for a World War is here.

The questions are Who is behind this? And Why?

Theresa May’s response is a joke. This is a woman who can’t stand up to EU shakedown artists over the mildest of disagreements in Brexit talks but can grandstand to high heaven over an incident with no evidence of Russian action.

As Trump Moves Toward War, "The Resistance" Refuses To Resist

Tuesday’s post, It’s Impossible to Overstate How Terrible Mike Pompeo Is, laid out the view that Trump’s firing of Rex Tillerson represents a major shift toward war footing for the Trump administration, with Iran the specific target. This pivot was easily predictable, and I wrote numerous articles doing just that during 2017. Nevertheless, forecasting it and then seeing the disastrous pieces being moved into place are two different things.

Trump’s push to install Mike Pompeo as U.S. Secretary of State is a crystal clear indication that he’s begun the process of building his war cabinet. The next steps, likely to begin over the course of 2018, is to walk away from the Iran deal. I suspect relentless war propaganda to be unleashed simultaneously as the neocon/neoliberal/mass media war-monger alliance plays its well established role in selling the American public on another pointless and destructive war.

The address was written in the event nuclear war does occur, and she needs to address the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Framing Putin – Saga of the Spy and the Nerve Agent

By Chris Kanthan

How dumb are the masses of the world? One just has to look at the brazen, obvious false flag incidents that the elites keep piling on. Trained to be consumers of sensational news, the idiotic population of the West simply accepts allegations without thinking or analysis.

Let’s take a brief look at the claim that Putin/Kremlin/Russia used a deadly chemical weapon (called “Novichok”) against an ex-Russian spy who has been living in the UK for eight years. Within hours after the incident, the UK foreign minister – bozo Boris Johnson – claimed that Russia was behind the attack. Then Theresa May said it’s “highly likely” that Russia did it; and everyone translated that into “definitely Russia did it.” Now, of course, crazed warmonger Nikki Haley has joined the chorus and even tells people that Russia may use chemical weapons in New York...

Saudi Crown Prince Says Will Develop Nuclear Bomb If Iran Gets One; Compares Ayatollah To Hitler

In a "60 Minutes" interview set to air on Sunday, the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said his country would quickly obtain a nuclear bomb - if arch rival Iran successfully develops its own nuclear weapon.

The Saudi crown prince, currently on a whirlwind global PR tour to relieve his western allies of the bitter aftertaste that resulted from last year's unprecedented extortion crackdown on Saudi Royals, which left many of them imprisoned in the Riyadh Ritz Carlton for months until they "agreed" to hand over their loot to the cash-depleted government, said that "Saudi Arabia doesn’t want to own a nuclear bomb. But without a doubt, if Iran develops a nuclear bomb, we will follow suit as soon as possible.”

Russian to Judgment: Who Poisoned Sergei Skripal?

The absurdity of this was inadvertently underscored by the comments of Vil Mirzayanov, the Russian-born chemist who first revealed the existence of “Novichok,” the nerve agent developed by the Russians. Mirzayanov came to the United States in 1995: in 2007, he published a book, State Secrets, which tells his story as a chemist working in Russia’s secret chemical weapons facilities. Now 83, he gives the following explanation for the attack on Skripal:

“‘Only the Russians’ developed this class of nerve agents, said the chemist. ‘They kept it and are still keeping it in secrecy.’

“The only other possibility, he said, would be that someone used the formulas in his book to make such a weapon.”

Oh, but what kind of a person would do that? Why, that would have to mean that they were trying to frame the Russians by making it look like the work of the FSB, the Russian intelligence agency. And we all know that’s just not possible – right?

Britain’s presumption of guilt towards Russia invites conflict and chaos

Britain’s abandonment of due process has taken a dangerous and reckless leap, with Theresa May declaring economic sanctions and diplomatic expulsions for Russia’s “failure” to respond to allegations over the Skripal poisoning.
Provocatively, Moscow was given a 24-hour deadline to “answer” charges leveled by the British government that it was responsible for the attempted murder of a Russian double agent, Sergei Skripal, who had been living in England since 2010 after a spy-swap deal.

Skripal (66) and his 33-year-old daughter Yulia were apparently stricken with a deadly nerve agent in his adopted hometown of Salisbury on March 4 while strolling through a public park. The pair have been receiving treatment in intensive care ever since.

World War III Is Approaching

Of course, there has not been any chlorine gas use unless by the Washington-supplied mercenaries. But facts are not important to Washington. What is important to Washington is Israel’s demand that Washington destroy Syria and Iran in order to get rid of Hezbollah’s supporters so that Israel can seize southern Lebanon.

No doubt that other interests are in on the plot. Oil companies that want to control the location of oil and gas pipelines, the crazed neocons married to their ideology of American World Hegemony, the military/security complex that needs enemies and conflicts to justify its massive budget. But it is Israel’s determination to expand its boundaries and water resources that set all of the Middle East conflict in motion.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I fear that Paul Craig Robert's "Curse of Cassandra Logic", (the prophetess, in classical Greek mythology, who always got her visions right, but was constantly being ignored by the very people those visions were supposed to help) is right on target here.

There is a certain aura of inevitability about how this is shaping up, and I suspect that it will be a question of when, not if, the US and Russia lock horns over Syria.

I also fear that the outcome of such a conflict may not go well for this country.

Mar 14 10:52

This dramatic announcement came during his annual State of the Nation address which this time included multiple videos showcasing each of the weapons systems that he described in his speech. President Putin was clear, however, that these armaments are for defensive purposes and were created in response to the US pulling out of the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty in 2002 and thereby completely upsetting the erstwhile parity that had hitherto stabilized their relations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF American intelligence knew about the development of these weapons, why does the US not have the weapons at least one step ahead of what the Russians have at present?!?

There is no real excuse here, if that was the case.

This "J'accuse" I lay squarely at the feet of the culture of the leadership in the military industrial complex; the last two administrations; and the Trump administration.

Knowing that this was going on, but doing nothing to improve America's weaponry strength, makes the leadership of this country, and that of the military industrial complex here, appear to be collectively stupid.

Not that I am for using such weapons, as a Christian Pacifist Activist; St. Petersburg, and the Hermitage, are very much on my bucket list, and there is much positive that Putin has done for Russia.

It is apparent that the Russian government is getting far more "bang" for its weaponry buck than is the US government.

But not having such weapons in the US's military arsenal?!?

Just plain dumb, and a really bad call.

Novichok – toxic questions about chemical at center of Skripal saga

‘Novichok’ is said to be a “binary agent,” meaning that it could be stored as two, less toxic chemicals. To produce the active toxic agent, the two must be mixed, and be allowed to react. This makes the ingredients easier to transport, as they only become fully toxic when mixed.

Anton Utkin, a Russian chemist who worked as a UN inspector in Iraq and developed technologies to destroy Russia’s chemical weapons, says it’s unclear “how they [Britain] could establish that it was produced in Russia.” He said that anyone familiar with the technology could have produced it. “You can’t find out who manufactured the chemical weapon – the content of the substance will be fully identical while using the same method,” he said. “There is no way to establish with full accuracy that a chemical comes from this or that country.”

This Is No ‘Cold War’; It’s Far Worse Than That.

During the Cold War, the two sides agreed that any war between the capitalist side and the communist side would escalate to nuclear war between the U.S. and the USSR and constitute Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D.). Therefore, because of this mutual acceptance of M.A.D., hot war didn’t develop during that entire period, from 1945 till the Soviet Union dissolved and ended its military alliance the Warsaw Pact, both of which ended in 1991. Throughout that 45-year period, called “the Cold War,” there was no hot war between the two nuclear superpowers, because both sides believed that any hot war would end in M.A.D. — mutual annihilation, and the end of civilization.

The rush amongst the super-rich started after the key event of 2014; this single stunning event suddenly sparked that rush by the super-rich to buy nuclear-proof bunkers, and the rush has been nonstop since that event. Putin’s Missiles: Deterring an American Attack?

Putin’s March 1st presentation of new Russian weapons has been greatly misunderstood as a declaration of strategic parity or triumphalism. There was a much more urgent need, namely, to prevent an imminent strike. This danger is not over yet, for a week later, on March, 7, President Putin emphasised his readiness to employ the nuclear weapons for retaliation purposes, even if it would end the world.

The sharply raised stakes were a game-changer. Who knows what will be the Russian response on this or other action of the Western allies? The warlike neocons say Russia is all talk, all bluff. Realists say that the US may suffer the humiliating and painful loss of its CSGs with thousands of lives at sea. The US President had enjoyed the previous strike of Syria with dozens of Tomahawks before returning to his beautiful chocolate cake. US Commander: ‘US Troops Prepared to Die for Israel’ in War Against Syria, Hezbollah

Such a war is likely to be ignited by the unrest destined to follow the U.S.’ imminent move of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The move, set to take place in May, led Hamas to call for a third intifada, or uprising, in response to the U.S.’ unilateral decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in defiance of the international consensus.

Beyond the fact that Israel is preparing to go to war with several countries simultaneously is the fact that U.S. ground troops are now “prepared to die for the Jewish state,” according to U.S. Third Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Richard Clark.

“We are ready to commit to the defense of Israel and anytime we get involved in a kinetic fight there is always the risk that there will be casualties. But we accept that, as in every conflict we train for and enter, there is always that possibility,” Clark told the Post.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And I will venture one relatively safe bet here; the Israeli government wants to see these wars go forward; but primarily at the costs of American blood and American money.

Hawaii declines requests for records on false missile alert

Hawaii officials have repeatedly pointed to a low-level state employee and a breakdown in his agency's leadership as the main cause for a January missile alert that left hundreds of thousands of islanders thinking they might die in a nuclear blast. But efforts to find out more about what other top officials did that day have been stymied at the highest levels of state government.

Hawaii law says opening the government to public scrutiny "is the only viable and reasonable method of protecting the public's interest."

But for nearly two months, Gov. David Ige's office has refused to provide information requested by The Associated Press that could show how he and other officials handled the crisis.

Citing open records law exemptions, Ige's office has declined to release phone logs, text messages, instant messages and calendars related to the missile alert, even as the state moves forward with recommendations to implement a new missile alert system .

Webmaster's Commentary:

Pure and utter codswallop, Governor Ige!!

The Hawaiian people don't believe it for a second, either; because of the massive corruption in this state's government, they have grown utterly cynical about any statement from most Hawaiian politicians.

And hey, Governor, talking about corruption and a hideous waste of taxpayers' money in this state, let's talk about about the "Light Rail to Nowhere", which is in a constant state of construction and repair, with roads so torn up in cities like Aiea, that it is nearly a death-defying experience for both a car's suspension, and human spines.

When is that forensic accounting of this project going to happen, demonstrating where the hell the money went, sir, andy why the horrific cost over-runs here?!?

US slams Russia at the UN and warns it will strike Syria again if airstrikes against civilians continue

UN Ambassador Nikki Haley slammed Russia for its support of Syria's Assad government, which she accuses of gaming the UN system to continue to kill civilians, possibly with chemical weapons.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that France would launch attacks on any Syrian facilities used to launch chemical weapons attacks.
Haley ended her statement by saying that if the UN couldn't stop violence in Syria, then the US would act on its own.

Madam Ambassador, I would like to politely suggest to you that some Americans can still read; and worse for you, still have the capacity for critical thinking.

The world knows you are lying, to support and forward the agenda of US troops going into Syria, in order to partition it, and create regime change in Damascus.

This will put us head to head with Russia in Syria, and this is not a place thinking Americans want us to be.

But just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could possibly do is, unfortunately, no guarantee that the US won't do it.

I would like to remind you of how "well" our military interventions are continuing to go in Libya, Niger, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and other areas of the world where the US military is assisting in the expropriation of resources to which this country - and its corporate minions, have no moral right.

After a run of mishaps in recent US military acquisition history, the US military’s new top weapons developer quipped that “the Chinese love our acquisition system. They are the biggest fans of our acquisition there could possibly be.”

Speaking to a defense industry group in Washington, DC, at the McAleese/Credit Suisse Defense Programs Conference on March 6, Pentagon Undersecretary for Research and Engineering Michael Griffin pointed out how slow US military development and acquisition processes are — more than 16 years from statement of need to operational capability, compared to China’s two or three years. “We used to do it in two or three,” the official deadpanned.

24 tonnes of toxic substances found in areas in control of militants

Syrian chemical weapons specialists have recovered 24 tonnes of toxic substances in the areas previously controlled by militants, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad told reporters on Saturday.

"Western countries wanted to prove that the Syrian government forces were the ones who had used chemical weapons. However, we have found substantial amounts of chemicals production. We have numerously declared the fact, but the West wants to heed only the terrorists," he said.

"The OPCW experts are appointed by the West. They do not want to know the truth. When we are saying that those experts do not tell the truth, the United States claims that they are experts who cannot tell lies," the deputy foreign minister added.

Newly Revealed Russian Weapons Systems: Political Implications

Right now, the AngloZionists are undergoing something very similar to the first two of the Five Stages of the Kübler-Ross Grief model: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Mostly this manifests itself in criticisms of the quality of the videos presented by Putin and by simple incantations about “these weapons only exist on paper”. This is absolutely normal and will not last too long. That kind of denial is a normal coping mechanism whose primary function is to “soften the blow”, but not something one can base any actual policy or strategy on. However, it is worth looking into why exactly these revelations triggered such a powerful reaction as things are a little more complicated than might first appear.

First, a stunning revelation of sorts: the deployment of these weapons systems does not fundamentally change the nuclear balance between Russia and the USA, at least not in terms of first strike stability (for a detailed discussion see here).

Goodbye ‘Satan’: Russia to get rid of iconic ICBM & get top replacement

Russia will soon start scrapping its family of Soviet-era R-36M ICBMs, dubbed ‘Satan’ by NATO, according to the Defense Ministry. The missiles that will replace them, Sarmat, boast cutting-edge capabilities.

“It [Satan missile] is at the end of its life span, and we are about to start discarding that missile,” Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov said.

Borisov did not elaborate on the exact model though. The R-36M intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was first deployed in 1975, becoming the most powerful silo-based strategic nuclear munition in the world. Two further modifications of the missile were made since then, and its booster stage also received tweaks.

CIA & Pentagon believe Russia’s next-gen weapons ‘years away’ from reality

The Pentagon and the CIA see “no change” in Russia’s strategic military capability following new strategic weapons systems presentation, saying they believe that President Putin “says lots of things that are without foundation.”

The five new Russian systems unveiled by Vladimir Putin “are still years away” from threatening the US, Defense Secretary James Mattis noted Sunday, stressing that Russian military capabilities are unable to change the military balance in the world.

GOP Senator Long Critical Of Yemen War Now Helping Trump Block Debate On It

Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) spent much of 2017 urging greater accountability for the American role in the civil war in Yemen ? presenting himself as one of few GOP critics of the Trump administration’s policies and aligning with prominent critics of U.S.-backed Saudi-United Arab Emirates operations in Yemen, like Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and a bevy of national security experts on the left and right.

Now he is trying to undercut the clearest shot war skeptics have of forcing the U.S. to change course.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sadly, this is the legislation which will probably be voted into law; and I would strongly suspect that it is utterly no accident that this legislation has been introduced shortly after the "AIIPAC Convention came to DC.

Young just apparently got "turned" to support the Israeli notion of a US proxy war against Iran, staged from Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

And precisely what this legislation is engineered to do IS to create an outright proxy war with Iran, which may well lead to an actual, physical attack by the US against Tehran.

The Implications of Russia's New Weapon Systems

Vladimir Putin’s March 1st, 2018 address to Russia’s Federal Assembly was not about Russia’s upcoming presidential elections, as many in the election-obsessed West suggest. Putin’s speech was about coercing America’s elites into, if not peace, at least into some form of sanity, given that they are currently completely detached from the geopolitical, military and economic realities of a newly emerging world. As it was the case with Georgia in 2008, the coercion was based on military power. The Pre-Shoigu Russian Army, for all its real and perceived shortcomings, disposed of the US-trained and partially equipped Georgian force in a matter of five days—the Russian Army’s technology, personnel and operational art was simply better. Obviously such a scenario is not possible between Russia and the United States; that is unless the American myth of technological superiority is blown out of the

Army document: US strategy to ‘dethrone’ Putin for oil pipelines might provoke WW3

A study by the US Army’s Command and General Staff College Press of the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth reveals that US strategy toward Russia has been heavily motivated by the goal of dominating Central Asian oil and gas resources, and associated pipeline routes.

The remarkable document, prepared by the US Army’s Culture, Regional Expertise and Language Management Office (CRELMO), concedes that expansionist NATO policies played a key role in provoking Russian militarism. It also contemplates how current US and Russian antagonisms could spark a global nuclear conflict between the two superpowers.

Bill Gates Warns Of Epidemic That Could Kill Over 30 Million People

Bill Gates is a smart guy who knows something about global health. So when he gives a grave warning about a potential catastrophe, it's a good idea to listen. Yesterday, at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the man who tops the Forbes richest person in the world list and is co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation said:

Whether it occurs by a quirk of nature or at the hand of a terrorist, epidemiologists say a fast-moving airborne pathogen could kill more than 30 million people in less than a year. And they say there is a reasonable probability the world will experience such an outbreak in the next 10 to 15 years.

“Back in 2000,” he said, “the U.S. announced its withdrawal from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty. Russia was categorically against this. We saw the Soviet-U.S. ABM Treaty signed in 1972 as the cornerstone of the international security system. … Together with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty [START], the ABM Treaty not only created an atmosphere of trust but also prevented either party from recklessly using nuclear weapons, which would have endangered humankind. … We did our best to dissuade the Americans from withdrawing from the treaty. All in vain.”

Putin Says "US Political System Eating Itself Up", Explains Preparation For Nuclear War

Putin then changed the topic, and vented his frustration with the U.S. political system saying "it has demonstrated its inefficiency and has been eating itself up."

"It's quite difficult to interact with such a system, because it's unpredictable," Putin said.

Russian hopes for a detente and better ties with Washington have been dashed by the ongoing congressional and FBI investigations into allegations of collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia. Speaking about the bitter tensions in Russia-West relations, Putin said they have been rooted in Western efforts to contain and weaken Russia.

"We are a great power, and no one likes competition," he said.

Turning his attention to a particularly sensitive topic, Putin said he was dismayed by what he described as the U.S. role in the ouster of Ukraine's Russia-friendly president in February 2014 amid massive protests.

New arms race started by US pulling out of missile treaty – Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied accusations he revived an arms race by unveiling Russia’s new nuclear deterrent. That was done by US President George W. Bush killing a 30-year-old missile treaty in 2002, he told NBC.

In an interview with NBC’s “Megyn Kelly Today” on Thursday, the Russian leader brushed off claims in the Western media that by introducing new nuclear-powered missiles, including the hypersonic Sarmat, he has signaled a new arms race. The alarmist rhetoric that fills Western news outlets is just another form of propaganda, Putin said.

“A large-scale effort is ongoing to encircle Russia with an anti-missile shield. Anti-missile defense sites have been already seat up on US soil in California and Alaska,” Alexander Fomin, Russia’s deputy defense minister, said on Friday in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel. Washington has in fact long been expanding its anti-missile shield into Europe. In 2016, a $800 million ballistic defense site went into operation in Romania.

Missile-gate: U.S. Intel Misses Russia’s Big Advances in Nuclear Parity

But as is the case with many of Vladimir Putin’s major presentations, the speech yesterday was addressed to a far broader audience than the Russian electorate. Many of the estimated 700 journalists invited to attend were foreign correspondents. Indeed, one might reasonably argue that the speech was directed abroad, precisely to the United States.

The final third of the address, devoted to defense and presenting for the first time several major new and technically unparalleled offensive nuclear weapons systems, established Russia’s claim to full nuclear parity with the United States, overturning the country’s withdrawal from superpower status dating from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. Some Russian commentators, in a burst of national pride, claimed that the power of the Soviet Union had now been restored and the wrongs of the 1990s were finally undone.

The New Cold War Is Here – and it could turn hot at any moment

If President Trump is “Putin’s puppet,” as the loonies of #TheResistance claim, then why is the Russian leader making speeches threatening to destroy the United States with “invincible” nuclear weapons – and illustrating his threat with a video rendition of a Russia ICBM circling the globe and hitting Florida? Although the Russians deny it, it looks to me like that missile is headed straight for Mar-a-Lago.

Putin’s recent speech was over two hours long: the first half was taken up with Putin’s take on every single aspect of life in Russia, from the state of the airports to the housing market to healthcare, illustrating the fact that there is hardly any aspect of human existence that is not touched by the Russian state. It’s a textbook illustration of what we used to call Oriental despotism: constantly exhorting his subjects to do better, Putin has an opinion on every conceivable issue, and then some.

‘Do you want war with Russia?’: Backlash at German newspaper over ‘NATO’s Eastern Front’ piece

An article mentioning “NATO’s Eastern Front” in a headline got Germany’s Die Welt newspaper in hot water, with furious readers accusing it of warmongering. The term Eastern Front is associated with the 1941 Nazi invasion of USSR.

Entitled ‘The Bundeswehr lacks winter clothing for NATO’s Eastern Front’, the article was first published by the German dpa news agency and then reprinted by other German media outlets, including Die Welt, which eventually bore the brunt of the headline wording. The piece tells of shortages of winter uniforms and basic equipment required by Germany’s military to lead the bloc’s rapid deployment force known as the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

The US is Accelerating Development of Its Own ‘Invincible’ Hypersonic Weapons

Early on Thursday, national-security professionals across Washington, D.C., awoke to news that Russian President Vladimir Putin was claiming to have created an air-defense-beating, “invincible” hypersonic missile — though offering no particular proof. New DARPA director Steven Walker declined to comment on Putin’s assertion but told defense reporters that his teams are working as they can to test a hypersonic missile before 2020 — and that they need more help.

“Most of our programs at DARPA [related to hypersonic research] are testing at one facility,” Walker said: NASA’s Langley Research Center in Virginia, where research and testing is happening around the clock.

He says he needs more testing infrastructure.

The most dangerous moment in the US-Russia relations

This business that, Russia is the number one existential threat has been unfolding this false drama at the expense of US national security, maybe for a decade, but it certainly intensified under the Obama administration.

Meanwhile, Russia was of course in the person of Putin, repeatedly, almost begging the US to join it in an alliance against terrorism, not only in Syria, but in a kind of global war. I don't know if the global war against terrorism is possible as a separate issue, but Russia wanted to partner with the US. Obama was inclined very briefly in Sep. 2016, but that was killed by the US department of defence when they attacked those Syrian troops.

Putin’s message couldn’t be clearer: The West needs to stop provoking a war we don’t want & which no one can win

First and foremost what Putin’s speech – just as all his previous warnings – is ultimately intended to do is avert a pending worldwide catastrophe. The US political class is too fluoridated, too driven by ideologues, too crazy to understand MAD any more. And its current policy, in concert with the EU and NATO, is one of continued unremitting provocation toward Russia, presented through the subservient and frankly stupid corporate media as “responding” to Russian “aggression”.

Since the “aggression” in question is no more than Russia exercising its lawful rights as a sovereign nation, what the US/EU/NATO nexus is actually doing is demanding Russia return to the client status it occupied in the 1990s or face continued threats to its security both physical and financial. They are trying to wear Russia down, convinced that sooner or later, if pressure increases enough, Putin will fold, withdraw from Syria, agree to “co-operate” with Western interests and generally get in line.

The Pentagon’s “Ides of March”: Best Month to Go to War

Is it a coincidence?

In recent history, from the Vietnam war to the present, the month of March has been chosen by Pentagon and NATO military planners as the “best month” to go to war.

With the exception of the War on Afghanistan (October 2001) and the 1990-91 Gulf War, all major US-NATO and allied led military operations over a period of more than half a century –since the invasion of Vietnam by US ground forces on March 8, 1965– have been initiated in the month of March.

The Ides of March (Idus Martiae) is a day in the Roman calendar which broadly corresponds to March 15. The Ides of March is also known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC.

Lest we forget, the month of March (in the Roman Calendar) is dedicated to Mars (Martius), the Roman God of War.

For the Romans, the month of March (Martius) marked “the time to start new military campaigns.”

US training EU armies to nuke Russia: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the United States of hurdling international nuclear disarmament efforts by training European armies to use tactical nuclear weapons against Russia.

Addressing the United Nations Conference on Disarmament on Wednesday, Lavrov said the US military had deployed strategic and non-strategic weapons across Europe and was using them in joint military exercises with other European countries, including the NATO military alliance’s non-nuclear members.

New Nuclear Cruise Missiles Could Go On Navy's Stealth Destroyer

According to the Military Times, the Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) includes a long-term strategy that could equip the new USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) stealth destroyer with nuclear cruise missiles. Released earlier this month, the NPR calls for the development of smaller warheads that the Pentagon believes would be seen more “usable” against China, Iran, North Korea, and or even Russia.

“In support of a strong and credible nuclear deterrent, the United States must…maintain a nuclear force with a diverse, flexible range of nuclear yield and delivery modes that are ready, capable, and credible,” stated the report, which serves as the first updated document the Pentagon has released about its perceived nuclear threats since 2010.

A Recurring Nightmare: Deployment of U.S. Ground-based Intermediate Range Nuclear Missiles in Europe against Russia

The plan was announced three years ago, during the Obama administration, when Pentagon officials declared: “In front of Russian aggression, the United States is considering the deployment of ground-based missiles in Europe” (the manifesto, 9 June 2015).

Now, with the Trump administration, the plan is officially confirmed. In the 2018 fiscal year the Congress of the United States authorized the financing of “a program of research and development of a ground-based mobile Cruise missile”. It is a nuclear missile with an intermediate range (between 500 and 5500 km), similar to the 112 Cruise nuclear missiles deployed by the US in Comiso in the 1980s.

They were eliminated, along with the Pershing 2 ballistic missiles deployed by the US in Germany and the Soviet SS-20 deployed in the USSR, by the Treaty on Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF), stipulated in 1987. It prohibits the deployment of ground-based missiles with a range between 500 and 5500 km.

US Special Envoy on North Korea Retires After Trump Rejects Talks

US special envoy on North Korea Joseph Yun, an advocate of direct diplomacy with the reclusive nation since 2016 has informed the State Department of his intention to retire on Friday.

Though he didn’t offer a specific statement on this sudden decision, it came immediately after President Trump’s most recent comments spurning direct talks with North Korea without massive preconditions.

Though North Korea has expressed willingness to talk, the White House has made clear that they will only talk if they are guaranteed that total nuclear disarmament of North Korea results before the talks themselves begin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I can certainly understand why Yun did this; he must be catastrophically disappointed in Trump, and in the Trump Administration's hard line on North Korea, which most probably means that Trump is getting ready to greenlight a military action against it.

Remember: demonization of a country, plus placing harsh sanctions against it (as the Trump Administration did last week) is nearly always a prelude to war.

Speaking of which, also at antiwar.com, comes the following article, linked from wapo.com:

Trump’s team is floating an attack on North Korea. Americans would die.

It is foolish, and magical thinking, to believe that such an attack would not escalate, and spiral completely out of control.

Senators Look to End Yemen War With First-Ever War Powers Challenge: US involvement in Saudi invasion never authorized by Congress

A bipartisan effort by four senators is looking to end the US military’s involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen, with the introduction of the first ever War Powers Act vote to come out of the Senate.

Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Chris Murphy (D-CT) are forwarding the bill, which notes that Congress has never authorized the use of military force in Yemen. This should allow Congress to oblige the administration to end US involvement in the war.

The US has participated in the Saudi invasion of Yemen since it began in 2015, with US planes performing mid-air refueling missions for Saudi bombers, and US warships at times participating in the Saudi-led naval blockade which is causing mass starvation in Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This move is morally correct, as the US government and military have been colluding with Saudi Arabia in war crimes in Yemen, through participation in the blockade and providing aerial refueling of Saudi bombers, supporting the bombing runs which have led to the massive, indescriminate killing of innocents, including women, children, infants, and the medically fragile elderly. And now, we have massive cases of cholera and diptheria ravaging the land.

But as morally correct as it may be, the passage of such legislation may prove quixotic in the extreme, for several reasons.

First, the Butcher of Yemen, AKA the Saudi Prince Salman, hates the fact that the Houthi rebels are Shia, and believes that they are getting extensive assistance from Iran (which, BTW, can hardly be proven at this point, other than for a few Iranian advisors).

Iran is considered by Saudi Arabian royalty and government to be its existential threat in the region.

So, the plan is, pound the Yemeni people down to extinction, through the genocidal campaign Saudi Arabia is currently waging against it, then go after Iran militarily. This was reported at globalresearch.ca on 13 February of this year:

The Coming War on Lebanon: Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the US Prepare for a long-Planned Middeast War.

The basic plan is to invade and control Lebanon, destroying Iran's ally Hezbullah; destabilizing and regime changing Damascus; then attacking Iran, with US and Israeli military help.

Of course, there is one tiny bit of of the calculus which Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the US haven't quite factored into their plans, and that is the current Russian presence in Syria, and the Russian promise it has consistently made to Iran to defend it if it should ever be invaded.

And THAT... is the thousand pound gorilla, sleeping splayed over the grand piano, which is going going to make such coming wars.... interesting, if not globally devastating.

Trump wants nuclear missiles on US warships: Report

US President Donald Trump has reportedly asked his generals to see if it is possible to arm the US Navy’s warships with nuclear weapons, a strategy that seems to fall in line with his order to review America’s nuclear posture.

The Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), which was released earlier this month, came largely to counter Russia and effectively end efforts by former President Barack Obama to reduce the size and scope of the US arsenal and minimize the role of nuclear weapons in America’s military doctrine.

It also cast China as a potential nuclear adversary, saying the US arsenal is tailored to “prevent Beijing from mistakenly concluding” that it could gain advantage by using its nuclear weapons in Asia, or that “any use of nuclear weapons, however limited, is acceptable.”

The US Is Protecting ISIS to Weaken Rivals, Expand US Occupation of Syria

The dominant view of the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (ISIS), Operation Inherent Resolve, is that its fundamental goal is the defeat of ISIS.

And so, in the wake of the routing of ISIS from Iraq and Syria, the core justification for an ongoing US military presence in Syria is ensuring that no post-mortem ISIS insurgency arises.

That the US is unequivocally opposed to ISIS is simply taken for granted.

Yet a closer look at the history of US involvement shows that counterterrorism has been a lesser concern relative to geopolitical and strategic goals. Whenever the goals of expanding territorial control or weakening rivals conflicts with the goal of opposing ISIS, the entity was either ignored or even empowered in pursuit of these more paramount concerns.

Yemen's forgotten war: Locals tell their stories

With Yemen's political and humanitarian situation growing increasingly fragile, DW speaks to people inside the country about what life is like in the midst of the war.

The third anniversary of the war in Yemen is approaching, and there are few signs that the conflict, which is being fought between an armed military group called the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces, is abating.

Last month, the country was pushed into further uncertainty following the killing of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh by the Houthis. Saleh, a former Houthi ally who had switched allegiances to support the Saudi-led coalition, was an important figure in the war and his death has been viewed as cementing Houthi power, in the short term at least.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In terms of blame, and really missing the mark as to just how resilient the Houthi rebels were, we can thank Saudi Prince Salman, the Butcher of Yemen, for this obscene situation here, aided and abbetted in his war crimes, by none other than the Good Old Us Government.

Innocent women and children have been slain, indiscriminately; the medical infrastructure has been gutted by Saudi bombings; and Depleted Uranium, that "gift that keeps on giving", has been used, giving rise to massive rises in stillbirths and horrific fetal deformities in Yemen's children.

Malnutrition is causing Yemeni children to starve to death; disease, in the forms of both cholera and diptheria (pehaps weaponized), have felled hundreds of other, and appear to be expanding their deathly grasp.

Prince Salman could initiate a diplomatic solution by attempting to negotiate with the Houthi Rebels; he will not, because of not wanting to "lose face" in the Arab World, and because he believes that the Shia Houthi are aided by Iran, his existential enemy.

So he is very happy, to continue to allow the death of Yemeni innocents, by any means necessary, to essentially beat Yemen into a pulp, before he goes after Iran with a direct military conflict, supported by the US Government, and specifically President Trump. As reported at financetwitter last November:

With Trump's Support, Saudi Crown Prince is ready for a war with Iran

US Airstrike Kills 25, Including Children, in Eastern Syria: Slain were mostly women and children

A US airstrike in eastern Syria’s al-Shaafa region has killed at least 25 people on Monday, with more than half of the slain identified as women and children, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Details on the slain are still emerging, but US spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon attempted to downplay reports, saying the US takes “all allegations seriously,” and that if any civilians were killed they’d be included in the Pentagon’s monthly list. The Pentagon, of course, tends to ultimately count only about 10-15% of the deaths in their official lists.

The al-Shaafa area is believed to be one of the last strongholds of ISIS forces inside Syria, and that has made it a popular target for airstrikes by various anti-ISIS factions. So far, however, the strikes have appeared to kill mostly just random civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The murder of a country's children, via airstrikes, is an assassination against that country's future.

In its vicious and violent attempt to partition Syria, the American Government is completely unphased by its military commiting these war crimes; I do not blame the American military for this; it is their mission, and they can shake off civilian casualties by characterising them as "collateral damage."

It is simply another manifestation of the Trump administration's "OR ELSE!!" foreign policy, one to which I am afraid that the American people have become "comfortably numb", in order to avoid having to think about this, or discuss the moral rightness of these actions.

US making biological weapons around world: Report

A recent report has claimed that the US Army frequently makes lethal viruses, bacteria, and toxins in blatant violation of the United Nations Convention on the prohibition of Biological Weapons for the purpose of biological warfare.

According to a detailed report recently published by Bulgarian investigative journalist Dilyana Gaytandzhieva, bio warfare scientists, under diplomatic cover, purportedly test man-made viruses at Pentagon bio labs in at least 25 countries across the globe.

It alleges that these laboratories are financed by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under a $2.1-billion military program, called Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP).

South Korea Pushes for US, North Korea Talks; Trump Says ‘We’ll See’

Hoping to expand on diplomatic gains made surrounding the Winter Olympics, South Korea is pushing for the US and North Korea to both ease their stances a bit and get to the table for direct negotiations and quickly as possible.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in in particular said the US needs to lower its threshold for talks, citing long-standing US preconditions, while North Korea should make it clear they’re willing to discuss nuclear disarmament.

North Korean officials have broached the subject in the past, saying they would be willing to disarm their nuclear program if the deal ends the threat of US attack, which they believe they need a nuclear deterrent to preclude.

White House officials reiterated over the weekend that they would only talk if there was a guarantee that the talks would end in North Korea’s denuclearization.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would love to think that this was possible; but North Korea will not stand down from its position to remain a nuclear-armed country, as a deterrent to a US invasion, and the US government will not stand down from its position that it will not talk unless North Korea denuclearises.

So what we have here... is the potential for a catastrophe which may will impact the entire planet.

Expect China to join the fray on North Korea's side, should the US start this war; the best hope would be for China to remain neutral, if North Korea started an attack on any US assets, but were I a betting human being, I would not bet on that happening.

As Americans continue to rage over the Valentine’s Day school shooting in Florida, expressing indignation at both the atrocity and efforts to impose (or reject) gun control, the U.S. government has acknowledged its own perpetual addiction to violence.

According to two letters released by the federal government last week in response to an inquiry from Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, the U.S. plans to maintain its military presence in Syria and Iraq indefinitely, citing vague threats of terrorism.

In one letter, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Policy) David Trachtenberg responded to Kaine by justifying continued operations in Syria with the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), passed by Congress in the wake of 9/11 to justify invading Afghanistan.

Webmaster's Commentary:

An "indefinte" US military presence in Syria?!?

Forgive me, but has either Syria's Al-Assad or Russia's Putin received a copy of this memo?!?

Remember; Russia was invited by the Syrian government to assist with getting rid of the Western-backed jihadists; the US absolutely was not.

The US military actions in Syria and Iraq are absolutely not about "self-defense", except in the pure economic sense; these actions are about ultimately, regime change in Damascus, making Syria more Western-Centric, and in both countries, assuring that the oil from these countries is only sold in US dollars; it is just that simple.

This virtually guarantees a military confrontation between Russia and the United States in Syria. I think that the question of how much of this nonsense Syria and Russia will take from the United States will be answered relatively shortly.

Unfortunately, it appears that US foreign policy, under the Trump administration, has devolved to the "OR ELSE!!!" school of foreign policy, which counts only on threats, and pre-emptive wars with which to secure what the US government wants to accomplish, rather than even attempt to make deals which would accomplish the same outcomes.
This country was founded on a brilliant concept of responsible, representative government, serving the needs and hopes of its citizens; that country has died, and been replaced by a government which only represents the needs and concerns of major corporations, and their desire to acquire, no matter how many innocents get crushed in the way of those acquisitions.

Wars are fought for corporate profit, not for any great noble ideal; not for truth; not for justice; and not to allegedly protect the "American Way of Life", whatever that is supposed to be.

When Karl Marx observed that "All wars are economic in origin.", he was being ruthlessly honest, which is why so many US politicians hate this reality; after all, it thoroughly interferes with the US Deep State narrative that its wars are always just; honest; and moral, which we now know to be a complete and utter lie.

Why One War When We Can Have Two!

In Afghanistan, America’s longest war, President Donald Trump ordered a doubling of bombing against Taliban forces battling US occupation. Now, the US is running very low on bombs, guided munitions and even air-to-air missiles for some reason. Stores of munitions are being rushed from the US Pacific command to the Mideast.

At the same time, the US is fast running out of Muslim targets to bomb, now that the bogeyman ISIS has vanished into thin air and US air attacks in Syria are being minimized for fear of clashing with Russia. Iran still remains on the US potential hit list.

Which brings us back to General ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis. He is quite right that so-called terrorists (that’s anyone who actively opposes the Lex Americana) pose no real life or death threat to the US mainland.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Margolis is a gentleman with whose assessments of world events I generally agree; but I must politely disagree with his observation that "Both east and west are simply unready for a real war"

I would suggest that Russia and China are perhaps more ready for a real-world war than is the US, and here are the following reasons; The US Government does not conscript; Russia and China do.

The US government has had to lower its standards for its all-volunteer force. US Army now accepting more low quality recruits, giving waivers for marijuana use

Russia and China's weaponry design continues to blast past that of their American contemporaries; we have seen the performance of Russian military equipment in Syria, and that has had the world beating a part to its door to purchase its military equipment.

The collective corporate culture of American weapons manufacturing companies demonstrates that they believe that they can offer equipment which doesn't work as advertised; can be delivered so late as to be obsolete by the time it gets introducec into the field; and that the American taxpayer can be goughed for huge markups on this equipment, and everything is just fine.

This all has to change, and abruptly, before the US military will truly be ready to fight a major war on one front, let alone two.

The US Expresses Concern About The New Russian Cruise Missiles

The commander of the United States Northern Command And North American Aerospace Defense Command, General Lori Robinson spoke to the United States Senate Armed Services Committee about her "concern" over the potential of the newly developed Russian cruise missiles. The text and video of her speech are published on the website of the Committee.

Speaking about possible events that may affect the mission of US defense, the general noted that Russia and China "have expanded their military presence." Where it happened, Robinson did not clarify, noting that Russia has prioritized the development of "advanced cruise missiles capable of acquiring targets from distances not previously seen."
