New York Times Falsifies Obama-Netanyahu Meeting

The New York Times assigned to the story a campaign-trail reporter, Sheryl Gay Stolberg, whose political perceptions are bland and whose knowledge of Israeli-American relations is an antiseptic zero. At the newspaper of record, a thing like that does not happen by accident. They took the most anxiously awaited meeting with a foreign leader of President Obama's term thus far, and buried it on page 12. The coverage of a major event, which the same newspaper had greeted only the day before by running an oversize attack-Iran op-ed by Jeffrey Goldberg, has officially now shrunk to the scale of a smaller op-ed.

Brown calls Blair in to No 10 for secret talks as crisis mounts

Gordon Brown has called Tony Blair into Downing Street as he desperately tries to rescue his leadership from a series of crises. The meeting on Thursday lasted more than an hour, coming amid the continuing outcry over MPs' expenses and warnings from ministers that Labour faces its worst performance in decades at next month's local and European elections.

Double dipping MPs in another dodgy deal

THE husband and wife Tory MPs who have been "double-dipping" expenses so the taxpayer funds BOTH their homes were last night caught up in a new scandal.

Julie Kirkbride and Andrew Mackay are letting her brother live rent-free in their mansion flat that WE pay for, the News of the World can reveal.

Fraud challenge to home secretary

A man has appeared in court to try to start a private prosecution against the home secretary over her expense claims.

Anthony Weaver, from Holborn in London, applied for a summons before a district judge in Jacqui Smith's constituency in Redditch, Worcestershire.

He alleges she defrauded the public purse of between £116,000 and £200,000 by claiming her main residence was her sister's London house.

I attended Andrew MacKay's meeting and I think his position is now untenable

The meeting got off to a shaky start when the Chairmen of the proceedings (David Osborn, former Rector of Bracknell) stated that we could of course expect "transparent honesty" from Mr MacKay and large parts of the audience broke out into derisive laughter. This must have been very embarrassing for a Member of Parliament of 25 years standing.

Feingold: Prolonged detention would ’set the stage for future Guantanamos’

Feingold announces in the letter that he plans to hold a hearing on the matter next month and asks for top Justice Department officials to testify.

“While I appreciate your good faith desire to at least enact a statutory basis for such a regime,” Feingold writes, “any system that permits the government to indefinitely detain individuals without charge or without a meaningful opportunity to have accusations against them adjudicated by an impartial arbiter violates basic American values and is likely unconstitutional.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Should this be put into effect, the entire system of American jurisprudence will have been pushed off a cliff.

Apparently, this is precisely the outcome Obama wants.

Taliban might launch retaliatory attacks across Pakistan, says Gilani

Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that terrorists might carry out retaliatory attacks in the country as they have suffered heavy losses in the wake of the military offensives in North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

"There are intelligence reports that terrorists can carry out attacks in any part of the country as reaction," Gilani told reporters in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If history has taught us anything, it has taught us that the remedies to radicalization cannot be sought solely through military suppression; social and political changes have to be part of the process.

Does a person who's able to go to work at a meaningful job at a decent wage, who can take care of himself (or herself) and the family, and who sees hope in the political process and the future suddenly wake up and say "I think I'm going to start shooting at government and military personnel!?!"

People become radicalized because they have no voice in what is going on with them, and not one whole heck of a lot to lose by becoming violent. In fact, under those circumstances, many think they may have everything to gain.

Gilani just doesn't get it, or doesn't care. Unfortunately, that does not bode well for the future of the Pakistani people.

Tony Blair believed God wanted him to go to war to fight evil, claims his mentor

John Burton, Mr Blair's political agent in his Sedgefield constituency for 24 years, says that Labour's most successful ever leader – in terms of elections won – was driven by the belief that "good should triumph over evil".

"It's very simple to explain the idea of Blair the Warrior," he says. "It was part of Tony living out his faith."

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder about a "faith" which requires the absolute destruction of a country which was never any real threat to the UK or the west.

What has been left in the wake of the invasion and occupation of Iraq is the utter devastation of that country, the infrastructure, with its medical systems and educational systems absolutely destroyed.

Oh, and let's not forget the dumping of tons of depleted uranium by coalition forces,, leaving large sections of the population mortally ill with cancer, and with huge numbers of birth defects in its wake.

Any god which demands those kinds of outcomes from their followers is a pretty spiritually evil deity.

Federal judge threatens to sanction Obama administration over secrecy

U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker of San Francisco warned the Obama administration on Friday of severe sanctions if it does not comply with the court’s order to turn over a secret document an Islamic group says proves they were illegally spied upon.

Loan defaults in the worst commercial real estate market in decades have created tens of billions worth of distressed properties across the nation, sometimes forcing cut-rate auctions of landmark skyscrapers. So they are selling skyscrapers at a drastic discount, with the condition that the new buyer take on the enormous amounts of debt connected to the properties.

Credit Default Swaps; The Poison in the Financial System

In a little more than a decade, Credit Default Swaps (CDS) have ballooned into a multi-billion dollar industry which has changed the fundamental character of the financial system and increased systemic risk by many orders of magnitude. CDS, which were originally created to reduce potential losses from defaulting bonds, has turned into a cash cow for the big banks, generating mega-profits on, what amounts to, nothing more than legalized gambling. In the case of insurance giant AIG, losses from CDS transactions has already cost the American people $150 billion, and yet their still has been no serious effort in Congress to ban them once and for all.

The Climate-Industrial Complex

Some business leaders are cozying up with politicians and scientists to demand swift, drastic action on global warming. This is a new twist on a very old practice: companies using public policy to line their own pockets.

The tight relationship between the groups echoes the relationship among weapons makers, researchers and the U.S. military during the Cold War. President Dwight Eisenhower famously warned about the might of the "military-industrial complex," cautioning that "the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." He worried that "there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties."

Israel, National Security State

My companion also told me that young people are recruited to careers in the Shin Bet or Mossad and consider it a badge of honor. Such a job is looked on as a great adventure by many. And every family seems to have at least one member working for the intelligence services. It’s an open secret.

I asked him what was the difference between this and the CIA. He said the CIA had overt and covert branches. One could work honorably for an open department within the CIA. In Israel, the Mossad and Shin Bet are entirely shrouded in secrecy. There is no such thing as a public face or overt action. Budget figures are never public information.

This is the price Israel pays for being a national security state, for which citizens sacrifice rights that Americans take for granted.

Barack Obama is giving Iran the time it needs to build a nuclear bomb

Has President Obama inadvertently given Iran the green light to develop an atom bomb? I only ask because it appears to be the logical conclusion to be drawn from his announcement this week that he is giving Iran until the end of the year to decide whether or not to co-operate with the West over its controversial nuclear programme.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's try a little science, and a few facts, shall we, Mr. Coughlin? You do remember what those are, don't you?

Fact: Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program; they are building a power station. They, as signatories to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, are perfectly within their international right to do so.

Fact: the facilities are inspected regularly by the IAEA.

Fact: Israel is not a signatory to the NPT, and so there are no inspections of their nuclear arms (which have been acknowledged to exist by Ehud Olmert, and former US President Jimmy Carter)

Fact: the level of uranium enrichment necessary to create a weapon is far higher than it is to enrich uranium for a power plant. Were the enrichment signatures at the level necessary to create a weapon, the IAEA would find it and report it.

Fact: Low-enriched uranium cannot be made into a nuclear bomb. Only when that uranium is enriched to much higher levels can it be weaponized. Again, were that to happen, the IAEA would know that it had happened, and report it.

And sir, you might remember what the word "sourcing" means when you make the statement "Many experts argue that there is now sufficient evidence to suggest that the country has resumed its efforts since the hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the presidency in 2005."

Who, sir, is making those claims, and what is their evidence, please? If this were real, I would imagine you would be in a hurry to name names and have the info readily available, so the West would really be convinced this is true.

But obviously, you have not, which has to make one wonder what the real agenda here is, and that is very simple: "softening up" the West for an attack against Iran.

FCC’s Warrantless Household Searches Alarm Experts

You may not know it, but if you have a wireless router, a cordless phone, remote car-door opener, baby monitor or cellphone in your house, the FCC claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it.

That’s the upshot of the rules the agency has followed for years to monitor licensed television and radio stations, and to crack down on pirate radio broadcasters. And the commission maintains the same policy applies to any licensed or unlicensed radio-frequency device.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unflipping believable.

U.S. Relies More on Allies in Questioning Terror Suspects

The United States is now relying heavily on foreign intelligence services to capture, interrogate and detain all but the highest-level terrorist suspects seized outside the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, according to current and former American government officials.

The change represents a significant loosening of the reins for the United States, which has worked closely with allies to combat violent extremism since the 9/11 attacks but is now pushing that cooperation to new limits.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: if we are outsourcing "interrogation", you can bet your backside that we're outsourcing torture as well, just so Obama can say with a reasonably straight face that "The United States doesn't torture!!"

But we are still responsible for what happens to people rotting away at various so-called black sites.

Suicide a 'free pass' for corrupt South Korean politicos (and their paymasters)

It is a shock that could have been predicted: former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun's opting to avoid prosecutors' questions by ending his life today, off a rock edge near his southern village home. His friends and supporters are left grieving, and the public will grant commensurate pity to his memory--as is humane and to be expected. As Israel rages, US plans for Iran war re-emerge

As Washington gets updates on Israeli plans to strike Iran, US President Barack Obama orders the Pentagon to rejuvenate contingency plans for the use of military in Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, here is the deal.

In the run-up to Iraq, many of you didn't want to look at the obvious signs of deception. or Israel's role in the lies, or the fact that it was Israel pushing us along to war, with Congress' bought and paid for assistance.

So those of you who did nothing to spot that last atrocity can delude yourselves into thinking that you just didn't know any better, and that in a way you are also a victim of that war (kins of, sort of, maybe).

But not this time.

This time, you KNOW the previous war(s) were started with lies; lies based on confessions extracted under torture.

This time you KNOW there really is no threat to the US justifying the invasion of Iran. Iran does not have nuclear weapons or delivery systems. The US (and Israel) have a great many.

This time you KNOW that innocent people will die.

Real Americans are not going to let the US Government commit yet more war crimes.

and if you are okay with yet another invasion (and from the WRH polls, about 4% of you are), then you need to take a good long look in a mirror to see what kind of sub-human you have been transformed into.

I would like to repeat the decisive sentence that we all believe in: The time of defeats has gone, and the time of victories has come.”

'Gender-bending' fear over plastic drinks bottles

A study found that participants who drank for a week from polycarbonate bottles showed a 69 per cent increase in their urine of BPA, which mimics the female sex hormone oestrogen.

The senior author of the latest study, Karin B. Michels, associate professor of epidemiology at HSPH and Harvard Medical School, said: ‘We found that drinking cold liquids from polycarbonate bottles for just one week increased urinary BPA levels by more than two-thirds.

Israel destroying Gaza's farmlands

Safadi says he was present when Israeli soldiers fired small bombs into his field, which soon after caught ablaze. He explained that "The Israeli soldiers fired from their jeeps, causing a fire to break out on the land. They burned the wheat, burned the pomegranate trees ... The fire spread across the valley. We called the fire brigades. They came to the area and put out the fire. But in some places the fire started again." According to Safadi, he lost 30,000 square meters to the blaze, including 300 pomegranate trees, 150 olive trees, and wheat.

Nasrallah: Israel may be preparing for war

Less than three weeks before Lebanon's hotly contested election, Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah warned his people on Monday night that a five-day IDF exercise scheduled to start at the end of the month could mean the Jewish state is preparing for "a new and unexpected war."

While he said he had no information that indicated this was the case, he added that "it is a possibility that cannot be ignored." He spoke in a televised speech.

Obama orders Gates to update plan for Iran strike

Webmaster's Commentary:

I challenge anyone to provide a convincing reason for the US to attack Iran (other than Israel has ordered us to).

Iran has not invaded anyone for the last 200 years.

Iran does not have nuclear weapons, and even if they did, they are not a threat to the US, which has thousands of nuclear warheads and delivery systems that can reach Tehran. Iran is not building nuclear weapons according to the IAEA.

Israel, the chief war-monger for an attack on Iran has a past track record of lying about Iraq's nuclear weapons to start a war. Israel is not in any danger from Iran because Israel has an estimated 200 nuclear weapons.

So, with our nation at the edge of collapse, and already mired in three disastrous wars, why go into Iran (other than Israel has ordered us to)?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Women 'mistreated by Mercy Ministries'

Three former ministry residents have blown the whistle on the program, claiming they were independent young women when they entered, but came out broken and suicidal, believing - as ministry staff had told them - that they were possessed by demons and that Satan controlled them.
These women have since been forced to undergo years of intense psychological and psychiatric care to overcome their treatment at the ministry.

Generals Find Suicide a Frustrating Enemy

Such meetings are one piece of a broader effort to arrest the Army's rising suicide rate, which has surged to record levels in the past year. In 2008, 140 soldiers on active duty took their own lives, continuing a trend in which the number of suicides has increased more than 60 percent since 2003, surpassing the rate for the general U.S. population.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US military is already massively understaffed for the tasks at hand.

Multiple rotations, coupled with commanders putting soldiers unfit to fight back on the front lines with all kinds of prescription drugs in their systems, cannot be helping.

But what may well have been the tipping point for at least some of these people was the very clear, inescapable understanding that this time, the US is not on the right side of history, in the pursuit of these wars without end.

Don't judge the chemo kid

But I would also like to turn down the volume on the talk-radio chatter and outraged editorials. That's because nobody seems to be talking about what it takes to beat Hodgkin's (or any other cancer). What it takes is a grueling regimen that can indeed give even a dying person pause. In fact, the Hausers didn't refuse chemotherapy outright. They defied doctors and a judge's ruling only after Daniel experienced some of its violent effects following one round. If you don't understand why, listen to my friend, Arun Ponnusamy, 36, who beat acute lymphocytic leukemia. "Surviving cancer is one thing," he says. "Surviving chemotherapy is another thing entirely."

Webmaster's Commentary:

I watched what chemo did to my mother, and to this date I still cannot decide if it was the cancer of chemo that finally killed her. But there is no question in my mind that she suffered horribly from the chemo for the last months of her life.

IF HEZBOLLAH OR HAMAS FIRE JUST ONE IRANIAN-BUILT ROCKET INTO ISRAEL…

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is just itching to find an excuse to attack Iran and what better way than to try what his predecessor, Ehud Olmert, tried in 2006 – provoke Hamas in the Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon by getting them to retaliate with minor incidents to Israeli border provocations and then use this as an excuse to launch massive attacks against both.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, what happens when collaborators working for Israel fire a soft-of-=looks-like-it-is-from-Iran rocket into an empty lot in Israel from inside Palestine?

The Humanitarian Face of the State, With Fangs

The state is driven by its own internal interests, which can only be fulfilled at the expense of society. The state operates according to the principle of violence. US Threatens to Pull Lebanon Aid Depending on Election Outcome

Biden linked US aid to the nation with the outcome of the election, cheered the current ruling parties and cautioned the nation against electing what he called “the spoilers of peace,” presumably referring to Hezbollah.

Recent polls suggest that the Hezbollah-led opposition has a very good chance of winning the June 7 poll. Hezbollah opposition faction includes a significant portion of the nation’s Christian voters. Contrary to its international image as a hawkish, Shi’ite Islamist faction, Hezbollah’s campaign has emphasized support for Lebanon’s diverse religious character.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this is a free and fair election, the US should acknowledge the outcome, and see what concrete steps can be taken to intelligently partner with the government taking shape for the good of all the people of Lebanon.

Of course, Israel won't stand for that.

In fact, the Israeli military just concluded a huge, "pull out all the stops" war game, envisioning war against every one of their neighbors.

The timing, right before Lebanon's elections, was a belligerently crude warning, writ large, about a possible military Israeli response if the "right" parties did not win.

Seven Jewish Children: A Play

Israel's recent bombing and ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, Operation Cast Lead, killed 1,417 Palestinians; thirteen Israelis were killed, five by friendly fire. Thousands of Palestinians were seriously wounded and left without adequate medical care, shelter or food. Among the Palestinian dead, more than 400 were children. In response to this devastation, Caryl Churchill wrote a play: Seven Jewish Children.

Since its February debut, Jewish leaders have condemned “Seven Jewish Children” as anti-Semitic.

Bill to Audit Fed Gains Serious Momentum

It looks like the Federal Reserve may finally have something to worry about now that HR 1207 is finally gaining serious steam. If enacted, HR 1207 will amend title 31 of the United States Code and reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States. In other words, for the first time since 1950, the criminals at the Federal Reserve will be forced by law to open their books.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It won't happen. Opening up the books would reveal to the ordinary American that the Federal Reserve just makes the money they loan at interest out of thin air! It's a legal counterfeiting operation.

Viggo Mortensen Smacksdown Obama and Cheney

1) Afghanistan is not a “good” war.
2) The government and people of Israel ought not be held in higher esteem than those of any other nation.
3) Most importantly, you should not let Cheney, G.W. Bush, and other immoral, murderous criminals in their administration off the hook. You and your relatively new government are, it is hoped, better than Gerald Ford and his government, who unforgivably pardoned the wretched criminal Richard Nixon for somewhat less significant wrongdoings and betrayals of the people of this and other countries than Cheney and company are guilty of.

On NBC’s Today Show this morning, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said that President Obama has ordered him to update the plans for a US attack on Iran, plans which were last updating during the Bush Administration. But that’s also where Cheney slipped up. You didn’t notice? Well, Cheney couldn’t resist expanding on the complaints of the terrorists:

“Our support for Israel.” Cheney got that part right.

Letters Did Bibi Box Obama In?

By setting a six-month deadline, Obama has given an incentive to Israel, AIPAC, the neocons, and even al-Qaeda, which wants Shia Iran bombed back to the Stone Age, to provoke collisions with Iran, until December, then demand that Obama keep his word, suspend talks, impose severe sanctions, and start us on the escalator to war.

And, already, the incidents are multiplying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There was never a question that Netanyahu wold get what he wanted from Obama.

The only question was timing, and how to sell yet another war of aggression to the American people to wipe out yet another one of Israel's "existential threats", with our kids, our blood, and our money.

However, there is one issue Buchanan leaves unaddressed, and it is one of real urgency to any adults in the room on foreign policy in Tel Aviv and Washington. And this issue is the 9,000 lb. gorilla, sitting on the Steinway in the living room.

That issue is Russia.

Just what do Obama and Netanyahu think Russia will do when it finds its 7th largest trading partner attacked, nothing?

If this doesn't keep some of the folks in the US government and the Pentagon awake at night, it should.

LaRouche: Obama Has Revived Hitler's Genocide Program

This monstrous program was initially sold as an economic measure: "The economic burden represented by people suffering from hereditary diseases is a danger for the State and society," Nazi Dr. Gerhard Wagner said at the Nazi party congress in 1934. The Nazis required all state institutions to report on patients who were chronically ill, and used those reports as the basis to decide which patients should be killed.

President’s Detention Plan Tests American Legal Tradition

President Obama’s proposal for a new legal system in which terrorism suspects could be held in “prolonged detention” inside the United States without trial would be a departure from the way this country sees itself, as a place where people in the grip of the government either face criminal charges or walk free.

SATURDAY UPDATES ON HOPE CONVOY TO GAZA

It’s moving quickly now. Was just on the phone with one of my friends when the buses arrived to pick up the members and take them to the convoy vehicles at the port. So they will arrive at the port very soon and then the members will drive the vehicles loaded with the medical aid to the Rafah border.

The convoy will be accompanied by Egyptian security who will see them to the border. Once at the border they will have to clear inspection and passport control, then enter Gaza. This could take a bit of time as there are many others waiting for entry ahead of the convoy, or, the convoy could be put right through quickly. We will see what happens later today.

The Weimar Hyperinflation: Time to get out the wheelbarrows?

Some worried commentators are predicting a massive hyperinflation of the sort suffered by Weimar Germany in 1923, when a wheelbarrow full of paper money could barely buy a loaf of bread. An April 29 editorial in the San Francisco Examiner warned:

"With an unprecedented deficit that's approaching $2 trillion, [the President's 2010] budget proposal is a surefire prescription for hyperinflation. So every senator and representative who votes for this monster $3.6 trillion budget will be endorsing a spending spree that could very well turn America into the next Weimar Republic."1

The United States will invest one billion dollars to develop key components for a swine flu vaccine and conduct clinical studies into its efficacy, Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How convenient for the large pharmaceutical manufacturers in the US which are licensed to produce flu vaccine for antigens.

And remember;if these jabs are mandatory, if there is an adverse reaction, or even death, there is absolutely no legal remedy to be had.

A little clause in the US Patriot Act gives pharmaceutical manufacturers complete immunity to any possible litigation against them due to a bad reaction to their product, even death.

Satellites to Streamline U.S. Intelligence Agency Narcotics Trafficking Operations

It’s helpful to make sure that the Left hand knows what the Right hand is doing when it comes to Uncle $cam’s drug running operations. My guess is that the use of the satellites will make this much easier. The cops are there to bust the upstarts, not the others.
