Banks Aiming to Play Both Sides of Coin

Watch out! Here comes another proposed scheme designed to GIVE banks money. Since our government buys its own debt, it won't be much of a stretch for it to allow banks to buy their own toxic assets at inflated prices with government money. After all, the United States crossed the Rubicon months ago. Its debts cannot be repaid. If not for the Federal Reserve buying the debt, there would be no buyers.

Burping of the lambs blows roast off menu

A government-sponsored study into greenhouse gases found that producing 2.2lb of lamb released the equivalent of 37lb of carbon dioxide.

The problem is because sheep burp so much methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Cows are only slightly better behaved. The production of 2.2lb of beef releases methane equivalent to 35lb of CO2.

That's nothing compared to me after I've eaten an "environmentally friendly" Beanfeast. Mr Methane would be jealous of my greenhouse emissions.

Paying money to the government does not improve bandwidth because the ISPs that build the links are private companies.

There are things in our history that most Americans don’t know because they haven’t been told, or what they have been told is not true. Unfortunately, some of the things are so disturbing that many of us would prefer to keep it that way. Such is the case of the death of Frank Olson.

On Monday, November 23, 1953, Olson, a scientist at Fort Detrick, Maryland, told his boss he wanted to quit his job. The following Saturday Olson fell to his death from a tenth floor window of a hotel in New York City.

Nuremberg set a valid precedent for trials of war-crime suspects in Iraq's destruction

Japan Times: The Nuremberg Principles, a set of guidelines established after World War II to try Nazi Party members, were developed to determine what constitutes a war crime. The principles can also be applied today when considering the conditions that led to the Iraq war and, in the process, to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, many of them children, and to the devastation of a country's infrastructure.

In January 2003, a group of American law professors warned President George W. Bush that he and senior officials of his government could be prosecuted for war crimes if their military tactics violated international humanitarian law.

Perhaps one of the most serious breaches of international law by the Bush administration was the doctrine of "preventive war." In the case of the Iraq war, it was carried out without authorization from the U.N. Security Council in violation of the U.N. Charter, which forbids armed aggression and violations of any state's sovereignty except for immediate self-defense.

Springtime for Hitler?

by: Steve Weissman t r u t h o u t

(*And now it's ...
Springtime for Hitler and Germany
Deutschland is happy and gay!
We're marching to a faster pace
Look out, here comes the master race!)

Here, in France, we have a series of laws that make it a crime to deny the Holocaust. At most, the prosecutions make heroes of the Holocaust deniers to their small coterie of followers and do nothing to spread the truth of how Hitler tried to annihilate Jews,Roma and Sinti, and gays. So why lean on ineffective laws that only get in the way? Leave historical truth to historians and to playwrights, as the First Amendment compels Americans to do. Springtime for Hitler is a much more effective way to marginalize the purveyors of hate.

Canada's Soaring deficit undermines confidence in finance minister, say Liberals

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has "lost credibility" after announcing Canada's deficit will soar to a record level, Liberal finance critic John McCallum said Wednesday.

Flaherty announced Tuesday the federal deficit will reach more than $50 billion this fiscal year, more than $16 billion higher in 2009-2010 than he forecast in January's budget.

McCallum, a former chief economist at Royal Bank, said he warned Flaherty early last year against spending "drunkenly" during good economic times.

"Sadly, I'm afraid this serves to further undermine confidence in our finance minister at a time when Canada desperately needs competence and strength at the helm in this area," said McCallum.

Americans' credit scores fall as they struggle to pay bills

From the third quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009 — the latest data available — the average TransUnion credit score dropped 6 points to 651, the credit bureau says. The Iraq War Really Is a Crusade

Given that the Iraq war really was a crusade, the fact that the Pentagon is now saying that it may have to leave troops in Iraq for another decade shows that the crusade is still ongoing under Obama.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Entering the city [Jerusalem, July 15, 1099], our pilgrims pursued and killed Saracens up to the Temple of Solomon, in which they had assembled and where they gave battle to us furiously for the whole day so that their blood flowed throughout the whole temple. Finally, having overcome the pagans, our knights seized a great number of men and women, and the killed whom they wished and whom they wished they let live.... Then, rejoicing and weeping from extreme joy, our men went to worship at the sepulchre of jour Saviour Jesus and thus fulfilled their pledge to Him.... They also ordered that all the Saracen dead should be thrown out of the city because of the extreme stench, for the city was almost full of their cadavers. The live Saracens dragged the dead out before the gates and made piles of them, like houses. No one has ever heard of or seen such a slaughter of pagan peoples since pyres were made of them like boundary marks, and no one except God knows their number."

Ending Today's Economic Crisis Simply and Easily, in America and Globally

Economist Michael Hudson explains that "debt leveraging is what caused our economic collapse," so piling on more ("The Recovery Plan from Hell" he calls it) makes things worse, especially the way it's done:

-- in America, by a private banking cartel Federal Reserve bailing out its members to enrich them - the key giant ones referred to as Wall Street; and

-- the US Treasury doing the same thing; it let the federal debt skyrocket to stratospheric levels and affirmed Adam Smith's dictum in The Wealth of Nations that no country ever repaid its debts, surely not huge ones in a private banking cartel run state, and therein lies the problem - easily solved with a bold stroke, thus far not taken nor will it without mass public action demanding it.

Visions Systems was included in a sweep that led to arrests of some 11 people in six states. In court papers filed last month, the U.S. indicated it may be getting ready to do just that.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Behind that fraudulent displacement of American workers lies an uncomfortable fact; the foreign workers are often more qualified.

The reason is simple. American schools have been transformed from centers of learning teaching science and engineering into political indoctrination centers promoting various agendas such as gay awareness, multiculturalism, intelligent design, and of course, human-caused global warming.

As a result, American workers are highly educated in totally useless areas, while lagging behind the rest of the industrialized world in the basic skills needed to compete in a modern technological marketplace.

China Is Now in Firm Control of U.S. Debt Markets

So far, in the three months of data which have been reported for this year (Jan., Feb., March), the net result was an outflow of capital from the U.S. totaling $211.4 billion.

Does this number suggest China is “trapped” into buying U.S. debt?

The March number is slightly more instructive. This marks the beginning of the newest propaganda-offensive from the U.S. corporate media in asserting (yet again) that the U.S. economy was starting to “recover”. This was epitomized by U.S. court-jester Ben Bernanke prancing around, braying about “green shoots”.

In March, the TIC inflow into the U.S. was a paltry $23.2 billion. However, net purchases of U.S. Treasuries totaled $47.9 billion – meaning the net results for all other categories of U.S. debt was yet another outflow of $24.7 billion.

There is good reason to believe that the goal would be not the direct physical destruction/incapacitation of Iran's nuclear programs but rather, to trigger an all-out US-Iran war in the course of which, Israel's planners hope, the US would do the dirty work in Iran that it is unable to do itself.

The most powerful grassroots organization of the peace movement, MoveOn, remains silent as the American wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan simmer or escalate.

Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look

With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Originally, a national sales tax was floated as a replacement for the income tax, given the dubious issue of the ratification of the 16th Amendment.

But in this case, and typical of the government, they are talking about having a sales tax IN ADDITION TO the income tax.

And forget about health care or anything else offered as the justification; the fact is that the US Government is deeply in debt, and since government cannot earn any of their own money, inevitably, they must take it from you.

I mean, look at the last 6 months alone. The Federal Government has loaded an additional $100,000 in tax debt onto every US tax payer; money they are expected to pay back in the coming years for which they will receive no services at all. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Government has become a black hole into which your life's blood is being sucked, and it will not stop until you stop it.

123 Real Change

We all have been tirelessly screaming about issues related to Congressional leaders abdicating their main responsibility of 'oversight.' We have been outraged for way too long at seeing 'no' accountability whatsoever in many known cases of extreme wrongdoing. I, and many of you, believe that the biggest reason for this was, and still is, the lack of true journalism and media coverage -- which acts as the necessary pressure and catalyst for those spineless politicians on the Hill and in the Executive branch. Or, at least it's supposed to. So, in our book, the MSM has been the main culprit.

............live birds are forced into tanks of scalding-hot water while completely conscious and able to feel pain, and in Moorefield, West Virginia slaughterhouse workers kill birds by slamming them against the wall and stomping on them!..........

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay so my question is, where are the big Hollywood celebrities' documentaries demanding action to end torture by the US Government?

Or are most Hollywood types only willing to champion causes where there is no risk of personal inconvenience?

Then come the really nosy questions, ranging from your college major and your health insurance to how you spend each day at the office. The survey even asks what time you leave for work, down to the hour and minute.

It also asks whether, "because of a physical, mental or emotional condition," you have difficulty "concentrating, remembering or making decisions," "walking or climbing stairs," "doing errands alone such as visiting a doctor's office or shopping" or "dressing or bathing."

MKs support arrest over denial of Israel's existence

A heated discussion erupted at the Knesset before the vote. Meretz Chairman Chaim Oron slammed the government, saying, "Have you lost your confidence in the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state? This crazy government – what exactly are you doing? Thought Police? Have you lost it?

"Israel's citizens have the right to say that they believe Jewish and democratic is an incorrect wording. I think they are wrong, but what does this have to do with the criminals area? Enough with this story." MK Orlev replied, "You used very shallow demagogy."

'You want to punish people for thinking?'

Here Comes the Internet Tax

What is the single modern invention most responsible for enhancing peoples' freedom and standard of living across the world? Arguably, it is the Internet. Yet, Democrats from revenue-starved states and Congress are proposing to make it less free by taxing Internet commerce. (Content regulation should be coming soon to a screen near you.)

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is the single invention most responsible for limiting peoples' freedom and lowering the standard of living across the world?

GM says bondholder offer fails; bankruptcy likely

General Motors (GM) said Wednesday that not enough bondholders agreed to an exchange offer, which expired at midnight Tuesday, to make the deal go through. GM's board of directors will meet shortly to discuss the next step.

The automaker was attempting to persuade bondholders to trade in $27.2 billion in unsecured public debt notes in exchange for a 10% stake in the restructured automaker. GM needed 90% of bondholders to agree to the plan. On Wednesday, the automaker said the amount of notes turned in were "substantially less than the amount required by GM to satisfy the debt reduction requirement" set forth by the U.S. Treasury.

Nukes 'politically retarded', says Ahmadinejad

Tehran says its program is directed at the civilian applications of the technology. The US and Israel, however, accuse the country of developing nuclear weapons.

President Ahmadinejad reiterated Iranian assertions that the country would never seek weapons of mass destruction -- including nuclear weapons.

"We think those who assume restoring nuclear weapons can have the upper hand in political equations are politically retarded," the president said.

Iran says nuclear weapons are "un-Islamic" and "developing, producing or stockpiling nuclear weapons are forbidden under the rule of Islam."

The Bilderberg Plan for 2009: Remaking the Global Political Economy

Before the meeting began, Bilderberg investigative journalist Daniel Estulin reported on the main item of the agenda, which was leaked to him by his sources inside. Though such reports cannot be verified, his sources, along with those of veteran Bilderberg tracker, Jim Tucker, have proven to be shockingly accurate in the past. Apparently, the main topic of discussion at this year's meeting was to address the economic crisis, in terms of undertaking, “Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty ... or an intense-but-shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency.”

I wish more Americans had an opportunity to get to know Muslims. Then they would not be susceptible to the silly anti-Muslim propaganda that is floated by some right-wing Christians.

FLASHBACK - A Moment in History: Passage of California Proposition 13 & Insane Tax-&-Spend Liberalism leads to Unprecedented Fiscal Nuclear Blast 3 decades later

Warren Buffett, named earlier this week as an adviser to Schwarzenegger's campaign in a move widely touted as giving the movie star credibility on economic issues, may have nullified his own value when he told the Wall Street Journal that property taxes in California are too low and suggested that Prop. 13 ought to be undone.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The phrase "taxes are too low" betrays a mindset in which those in the government truly believe it is all their money anyway and ordinary people should be allowed no more than the bare minimum needed to keep them complacent.

Story Exposing HSUS Buried: Read Transcript

An ABC-TV affiliate in Atlanta aired an Investigative Report on where the Humane Society of the United States spends its money. Twenty four hours later, the story was pulled from the air. I wasn’t able to locate it in their archives either, even though there were older investigative stories still there. I spoke with Mark Winne of Channel 2 and was told that it is routine to take down this type of news report, however he was less specific when asked why it wasn’t saved in their archives. A copy of the video played on YouTube for one day then mysteriously disappeared from that site as well.

PetPAC posted, on our site, the written transcript you see below, sent to us by several of our supporters.
