THE RUSE: Outcry Builds in Washington for Recovery of A.I.G. Bonuses

The New York Times Jackie Calmes - Louise Story

Those payouts are expected to come under intense scrutiny Wednesday as Edward Liddy, the chief executive of A.I.G, testifies before Congress amid mounting public outrage about the bonuses, which were paid out after nearly $200 billion in taxpayer funds were pumped into the company.

They're feeding you stupid today again. The price of a barrel of oil has going up 38% since Obama got his money. That's the real story. And this huge jump has happened exactly as demand for oil has plummeted, so you're getting inflation-screwed a second time with all this stimulus bailout crap.

Plan Would Limit Prison Chapel Books

The New York Times Solomon Moore The Bureau of Prisons in January proposed that “materials that could incite, promote, or otherwise suggest the commission of violence or criminal activity” may be excluded from chapel libraries.

The American Civil Liberties Union and several other civil rights and religious groups argue that the agency is going beyond the provision of the Second Chance Act of 2007, which included a restriction on materials that “seek” to incite violence.

They argue that the act was meant to prohibit only books that intend to suggest violence, and that the agency’s new rule would expand that ban to all books that could possibly lead to violence.

Here is a lighthearted video that makes this serious point:

Livid Democrats demand AIG return bailout bonuses

Talking tougher by the hour, livid Democrats confronted beleaguered insurance giant AIG with an ultimatum Tuesday: Give back $165 million in post-bailout bonuses or watch Congress tax it away with emergency legislation. Republicans declared the Democrats were hardly blameless, accusing them of standing by while the bonus deal was cemented and suggesting that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner could and should have done more. While the White House expressed confidence in Geithner, it was clearly placing the responsibility for how the matter was handled on his shoulders.

Great show. Can we vote them a Grammy? They know they can't touch AIG without inflicting damage elsewhere. AIG has the US "gummermint" apes over a barrel.

Tax hike has smokers fuming

Smokers, including many that say it's healthier to smoke roll-your-own than commercial pre-made and Fire-Safe cigarettes, said the tax is unfair, said Heather Wantland, manager of Custom Blends.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Okay, let us wade in here.

First off, I don't smoke. I watched my mother die from cigarette-related cancer and all joking aside I don't even puff the local pakalolo.

But, while I understand the anti-smokers concerns about our health, targeting roll your own tobacco for such a huge tax increase is counter-productive. Most roll-your-own tobacco is organically grown whereas the commercial cigarette farms use cheap mineral fertilizers which are laced with polonium. It is the polonium which is the source of the major health problems one sees with cigarettes (but not with pipes or cigars). and, we know from Dr. Jeffrey Wigand's appearance on "60 Minutes" that commercial cigarette manufacturers artificially increase the addictive components in their products, something roll-your-owns do not.

It seems this tax is intended to protect the profits of the big cigarette manufacturers rather than to address the health issues.

The doors to two groups of cells didn't lock, but apparently no one tried to escape — perhaps because they had everything they needed inside.

"We intend to continue timed (bomb) attacks," the proclamation said.

Tenth Amendment Movement: Taking On the Feds

Many of America’s Founding Fathers were concerned that if the federal government were too powerful, it would become tyrannical. For this reason, many checks and balances were put on the federal government’s power. One of these was that Washington should be restrained by the powers of the states, which would retain a high degree of sovereignty.

Obama details plan to aid small businesses

President Barack Obama on Monday offered a fresh package of aid to small businesses - "the heart of the American economy" - in an aggressive push to get big banks that got federal bailout money to do more lending to these struggling entrepreneurs.

Unfortunately, any plan that is not going to help average consumers out, from under the massive debt load the government has piled on them, is doomed to fail. Businesses are failing because nobody has money to spend. Lending businesses money won't BUY them customers. It will only put them further behind the 8-ball.

Jewish Canadians Concerned About Suppression of Criticism of Israel Censored by Canadian Media.

Jewish Canadians Concerned About Suppression of Criticism of Israel

James Deutsch, M.D., Ph.D., Judith Deutsch, M.S.W., R.S.W., Miriam Garfinkle, M.D.

Over 150 Jewish Canadians signed a statement expressing their concerns about the campaign to suppress criticism of Israel that is being carried on within Canada. The signatories include many prominent Canadians, including Ursula Franklin O.C., Anton Kuerti O.C., Naomi Klein, Dr. Gabor Mate, and professors Meyer Brownstone (recipient of Pearson Peace Medal), Natalie Zemon Davis, Michael Neumann, and Judy Rebick. *

The signatories are particularly concerned that unfounded accusations of anti-Semitism deflect attention from Israel’s accountability for what many have called war crimes in Gaza. They state that B’nai Brith and the Canadian Jewish Congress have led campaigns to silence criticism of Israel on university campuses, in labor unions and in other groups. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney and Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff unquestioningly echo the views of these particular Jewish organizations.

Torture Revealed Yet Again

As with the evidence that Bush, Cheney, and gang intentionally lied us into a war, or the evidence of illegal and unconstitutional spying, each time a major new piece of evidence of torture emerges, it is impossible not to hope that this is the one that will compel the Justice Department or Congress or the courts or the American people to act decisively.

Paulson Was Behind Bailout Martial Law Threat

Senator James Inhofe has revealed that Henry Paulson was behind the threats of martial law and a new great depression prior to the passage of the bailout bill, having made such warnings during a conference call on September 19th, around two weeks before the legislation was eventually approved by both the Senate and Congress.

CONFIRMED! German school shooter was taking anti-depressants!

Authorities late last week began to think they had something of an answer for the paper. Kretschmer, announced minister of justice Heribert Rech, had left a message on a chatroom the night before he launched his assault on Albertville. He said he was "fed up of his life" and added that "everyone laughs at me, no one recognises my potential". Chillingly, the post went on: "I have weapons here and tomorrow morning I will go to my former school and I will really administer a grilling."

Mr. President, Instead of Getting "Choked Up With Anger", Please Do Something Useful By Stopping Your Economic Team from Choking the Economy

Mr. President, in a press conference today, you said that you were "choked up with anger" about AIG's shenanigans.

Mr. President, we don't need your populist rhetoric. We don't need you to be choked up with anger.

We need to you actually exercise your power and actually do something constructive.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You WON the election, Obama. Now quit speechifying and start doing the job!!

Scholar Claims Dead Sea Scrolls 'Authors' Never Existed

Elior contends that Josephus, a former Jewish priest who wrote his history while being held captive in Rome, "wanted to explain to the Romans that the Jews weren't all losers and traitors, that there were many exceptional Jews of religious devotion and heroism. You might say it was the first rebuttal to anti-Semitic literature." She adds, "He was probably inspired by the Spartans. For the Romans, the Spartans were the highest ideal of human behavior, and Josephus wanted to portray Jews who were like the Spartans in their ideals and high virtue."

Thousands of farmers have to struggle, nearly on a daily basis, with Israeli army troops and Jewish settlers who are pursuing a relentless campaign to destroy Palestinian olive orchards throughout the West Bank.

Olive trees, some a century old or older, are extirpated by heavy machinery and replanted at a neighboring Jewish settlement or kibbutz.

Al-Hurub, like other Palestinian farmers, are left completely helpless to stop the theft which takes place in broad daylight.

“You can imagine the anguish and the mental pain we suffer watching our life-long labor reduced to zero in a matter of a few minutes.”

Patriot or crackpot? Seattle man's mission to prosecute Bush

Ask Bob Alexander how often he's heard the word "quixotic" recently. The approximate answer: all the time.

Of all the people who read Charles Manson prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's best-selling "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder," this 57-year-old Seattle coffee merchant is the only one jolted to act on it in a substantial way. The SuperBeans proprietor has become a super-activist.

With the help of a handful of volunteers and donations, Alexander has sent 2,200 copies of Bugliosi's hardcover to prosecutors around the country.

Now he and his volunteers are following up with each one of them by phone and e-mail, as well as gathering signatures for petitions urging the prosecutors to indict the former president.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bob is a long time contributor to this website and can be reached at http://www.superbeans.com/.

Yes, he carries the Kona coffee. :)

Webmaster's Commentary:

A nation whose children sleep in alleys and eat out of trash dumpsters is a nation which should NOT be sending a single dime of tax money to a foreign government ... Mr. President.

America needs leaders who put America first, second, and third.

Continuity and Change

As a reward for killing 1,400 Palestinians in the Gaza blitzkrieg, ignoring U.S. demands to stop the building of "settlements" on the West Bank, and vigorous efforts to breach our security and steal highly classified information via its Washington fifth column, Tel Aviv has been reassured by President Barack Obama that $30 billion in aid will not be cut. World financial crisis? Impending US bankruptcy? Obama's newfound sense of fiscal responsibility? Put it out of your mind. All it takes is one phone call from Chuck Schumer, a tête-à-tête with Nancy Pelosi, and an editorial or two in the Washington Post, and – poof! – "change" turns into continuity. Obama will keep Bush's promise, and you can take that to the bank.

This is a nasty group of Zionists, run by a man who was arrested for Child Molestation AND convicted of terrorist Pro-Israel bombings in New York in 1984. I wrote a blog about them and their group. They had a televisions show in New York and that was removed as well for hateful content. Now they are targeting my blog at WordPress because I reported the truth about them from their own website, in their own words coupled with information on the internet of this man’s arrest for child molestation

Because I knew that I would need to cross the Kalandia checkpoint (going both ways), I decided not to drive my own car. For one thing, it is against rental car company policies to take your car into the West Bank. If anything happens within the occupied territories you are 100% responsible for the damage. They have their ‘reasons’ for having those policies. To me, it is just one more way to marginalize the Palestinian people.

450 MILLION in AIG Bonuses to be paid, not the reported 150 million

"I think the economic logic behind dumping a load of toxic waste in the lowest wage country is impeccable and we should face up to that . . . I've always thought that under-populated countries in Africa are vastly underpolluted."

New Hampshire in uproar over US Administration

A group in the US State of New Hampshire is becoming more vocal in its fight for independence. They believe the federal government has overstepped its role and intruded upon their states' rights.

A group calling themselves the Free State Project says the only option is to let states govern themselves and set their own rules – much they already do on issues like firearm legislation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Historical note: New Hampshire was the first state to sign the Declaration of Independence.
