THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

"As long as people are marginalized and distracted [they] have no way to organize or articulate their sentiments, or even know that others have these sentiments. People assume that they are the only people with a crazy idea in their heads. They never hear it from anywhere else. Nobody's supposed to think that. ... Since there's no way to get together with other people who share or reinforce that view and help you articulate it, you feel like an oddity, an oddball. So you just stay on the side and you don't pay any attention to what's going on. You look at something else, like the Superbowl." -- Noam Chomsky, American linguist and US media and foreign policy critic

Indian Government Asks Twitter to Remove Accounts “Spreading Rumours” About Kashmir

By Rezwan

On August 5, India’s BJP-led government revoked Article 370 of the Indian constitution that gave special autonomy status to the disputed state of Jammu and Kashmir dividing it into two union territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Fearing unrest, protests, and opposition, the authorities put hundreds of political leaders and their aides under house arrest and suspended access to mobile, landline and internet networks...

Prescription Infant Formulas Found To Be Contaminated With Aluminum

By Arjun Walia

A new study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health has shown that multiple popular infant prescriptions are contaminated with aluminum. You may be asking how much aluminum, but the authors make it a point to stress that there are no safe amounts of aluminum levels that can be inside of a human body, let alone a newborn baby. That being said, the amounts found are listed within the abstract of the study...

Study Shows That Horses Understand Our Emotions & Remember Us Deeply

By Dulce Ruby

“What we’ve found is that horses can not only read human facial expressions but they can also remember a person’s previous emotional state when they meet them later that day — and, crucially, that they adapt their behavior accordingly,” Karen McComb, a professor at the University of Sussex, said in a news release. “Essentially horses have a memory for emotion.”

Scientists have previously shown horses can recognize expressions, but the latest findings, published this week in the journal Current Biology, are the first to show the mammals can recall an expression linked with an individual’s face...

Victory! California Supreme Court Blocks Sweeping Search Condition of Minors’ Electronic Devices and Social Media Accounts

By Jamie Williams

The California Supreme Court just rejected the government’s attempt to require a youth probationer, as a condition of release, to submit to random searches of his electronic devices and social media accounts. The trial court had imposed the condition because the judge believed teenagers “typically will brag” about drug use on the Internet—even though there was no evidence that the minor in this case, Ricardo P., had ever used any electronic devices in connection with any drugs or illegal activity, let alone ever previously bragged about drug use online.

EFF and the ACLU filed an amicus brief in the case back in 2016, warning that the search condition imposed here was highly invasive, unconstitutional, and in violation of the California Supreme Court’s own standard...

Silicon Valley Wants To Read Your Mind – Here’s Why You Should Be Worried

By Garfield Benjamin, Solent University

Not content with monitoring almost everything you do online, Facebook now wants to read your mind as well. The social media giant recently announced a breakthrough in its plan to create a device that reads people’s brainwaves to allow them to type just by thinking. And Elon Musk wants to go even further. One of the Tesla boss’s other companies, Neuralink, is developing a brain implant to connect people’s minds directly to a computer.

Musk admits that he takes inspiration from science fiction, and that he wants to make sure humans can “keep up” with artificial intelligence. He seems to have missed the part of sci-fi that acts as a warning for the implications of technology.

These mind-reading systems could affect our privacy, security, identity, equality and personal safety. Do we really want all that left to companies with philosophies such as that of Facebook’s former mantra, “move fast and break things”?...

Instead of red flag laws, why won’t lawmakers investigate psychiatric drugs and their links to violence?

As we’ve come to expect, “RINOs” (Republicans in name only) like Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina are now eagerly pushing the so-called “red flag” laws that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner want to see implemented all across the country as an affront to the Second Amendment. But why is nothing being said about the role that psychiatric pharmaceuticals like SSRIs (selective serotonin reputake inhibitors) quite obviously play in America’s mass shootings?

Red Flag Gun Laws- the obvious problems politicians want to ignore

Politicians told us to put up plastic signs that said “no guns allowed”. The results were horrible. -- Instead of making us safer as they promised, these “gun-free” zones left crowds of unarmed people at the mercy of mass murderers. Gun-control politicians aren’t criticized when their policies fail. Rather than fix their mistakes, they invent a new gun-control law. Criminals don’t follow gun laws, so these new laws are no more effective than the last ones. We’re rightfully disturbed when innocent people are slaughtered. Rather than fix their mistakes, Democrat politicians offered up human sacrifices so we’ll feel safer.

Those screaming loudest about “climate change” are flying around in private jets and living in luxurious, energy-wasting homes

Yes, most people want to live on a planet that is clean and less polluted, but they don’t want to pay reparations to the elite ruling glass, submitting to carbon taxes and geoengineering schemes that have unintended consequences. The real problem with the environment is the Hollywood A-listers who fly around the world pretending they can save the planet. Moreover, eliminating carbon from the atmosphere will have unintended consequences.

It’s easy to photograph a chunk of ice breaking off of Greenland in the summer months, but no one is under water during the winter documenting how the ice forms slowly along the bottom. It’s easy to cherry-pick temperature data during a warm front, as long as the data allows you to confirm a theory that will keep money rolling in to fund your “research.”

MULTIPLE BULLETS SHOT AT TWO ICE FACILITIES IN TEXAS

FBI agents are searching for suspects in connection with shots fired at two ICE buildings early Tuesday morning.

The shooting first reported took place around 3 a.m. Tuesday on the 1700 block of NE Loop 410 near Brookhaven Drive. We're told another shooting happened at a separate ICE facility around the same time.
Investigators say that multiple shots were fired on two floors targeting ICE officials. No one was hit, but windows were broken in the building. One person was injured, it's not clear how they were, though.

"I don't think there's a question that they knew which floors the ice offices were," FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Combs said Tuesday. The building shot at has multiple tenants, with the ICE facility located on upper floors.

GE shares plunge as much as 15% after Madoff whistleblower claimed the company is a 'bigger fraud than Enron' and a bankruptcy waiting to happen

General Electric shares fell as much as 15% on Thursday after fraud investigator Harry Markopolos, who blew the whistle on Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme, said GE was concealing deep financial problems.

In a 175-page report, Markopolos accused GE of hiding $38.1 billion in potential losses and asserted that the company's cash situation was far worse than it had disclosed.

'GE's true debt to equity ratio is 17:1, not 3:1, which will undermine its credit status,' Markopolos said in the report, which was commissioned by an undisclosed hedge fund that has taken short positions on GE stock.

The report says GE is insolvent and asserts that its industrial businesses have a working capital deficit of $20 billion.

The plunge in share prices wiped more than $10 billion off of GE's market capitalization in a matter of hours.

If you’re new to this website, grab onto something, as the following may come as something of a shock. Not only has there never been any credible evidence to support the claim of Russian cyber interference, there has always been a simple alternative explanation that involves no “hacking” at all – by Russia or anyone else.

Russian Fighter Jet Chases Off NATO Fighter Over Baltic Sea

Russian state media showed a video of a mid-air confrontation over the Baltic Sea, where a Russian Su-27 fighter chased away a NATO F-18 that was moving toward a passenger plane.

NATO moved against the passenger aircraft when it was over the Baltic Sea after leaving Kaliningrad and heading toward Moscow. The plane contained Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shogu. The F-18 was from Spain, but operating out of Lithuania.

This is the second time a NATO fighter moved after a plane Shogu was on. Fortunately for Shogu, Russia keeps fighters in the area to protect high-ranking officials’ flights, and the Su-27 got into the area near the NATO plane, forcing it off.
