Authored by William Hartung via,

When, in his farewell address in 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the dangers of the “unwarranted influence” wielded by the “military-industrial complex,” he could never have dreamed of an arms-making corporation of the size and political clout of Lockheed Martin.

In a good year, it now receives up to $50 billion in government contracts, a sum larger than the operating budget of the State Department. And now it’s about to have company.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic in their origin, the guy was absolutely, entirely correct.

Through wars, the military industrial complex makes obscene profits, even with products which are inferior; late to market; and have an incredible, unjustifiable markup; so it is, also, with the banks which loan money to governments to keep the wars going, with loans which are generally usurious in their interest rates.

The only people for whom wars are horrendous, are those who are "press-ganged" into fighting them.

I cannot say, with any certainty, that the US government will reinstate the draft; but were I a betting woman, I would not bet against this happening, particularly if there is another horrific false flag (to most probably be blamed on the "villian du jure", these days, Iran).

And please understand; wars are not about honor, glory, or protecting or preserving the "American Way of Life.", however that translates to you.

Wars are about regime-changing governments, to create governments which are Western/US centric; expropriating resources to which the US Government has absolutely no moral right; and insuring that those resources are only sold in US dollars.

If you take a look at all the wars from President Bush's attacks against Afghanistan and Iraq; President Obama's regime change in Libya ( because Ghadaffi was about to institute a gold-backed dinar, which would have utterly wiped the floor with the US dollar); and President Trump's threats against Iran (for regime change, and its oil wealth), this is absolutely, painfully, obvious.

In my world, patriotism consists of honoring the good that people do for their country, which may, or may not be something they do for money; the polar opposite of patriotism, is milking a government for every cent you can, in the name of defense, when what the military industrial complex generally creates is very expensive "junk" which completely under-serves our men and women in uniform.

As those of you who read this blog consistently understand; I am a Christian Pacifist Activist, who believes that the US government should use its entire range of options, including moral, hard-won, reasonable negotiations before declaring war against another government.

Unfortunately, with the military industrial complex, which needs wars and conflict to survive, and the Deep State so stunningly in control of US foreign policy, this is only likely to happen...when pigs discover that they are aerodynamic!!

Between 2006 and 2012, opioid drug makers and distributors flooded the country with 76 billion pills of oxycodone and hydrocodone—highly addictive opioid pain medications that sparked the epidemic of abuse and overdoses that killed nearly 100,000 people in that time period.

As the epidemic surged over the seven-year period, so did the supply. The companies increased distribution from 8.4 billion in 2006 to 12.6 billion in 2012, a jump of roughly 50%. In all, the deluge of pills was enough to supply every adult and child in the country with around 36 opioid pills per year. Just a 10-day supply can hook 1 in 5 people into being long-term users, researchers have determined.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"The needs of the patients" did NOT include heavy addiction, over a short period of time, thank you very much.

There are alternatives to addiction, including meditation; diet; music; and more. Music calmed pre-op patients just as well as did drugs

I would hope for a future which combines the best, and vetted, alternative therapies with far lower doses of potentially addictive drugs, to keep people from getting addicted.

Unfortunately, these are alternatives which are not really supported by the medical/industrial complex at all, because it eats into drugs' profitability.

Glenn Miller’s Disappearance, Accident or Cover Up?

On December 15, 1944, American orchestra leader, Glenn Miller, famous for hits like “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” and “In The Mood,” was in England entertaining the troops serving in World War II. Although the weather was dicey, Miller and his orchestra agreed to perform in Paris in the days leading up to Christmas. So Miller sent his orchestra ahead with plans to meet up with them in France in three days. He never made it. After boarding a small airplane with its two crew members, Miller took off for the flight over the English Channel. He, his plane, and the two crew members were never seen again. The obvious conclusion was that the plane crashed into the English Channel, but there may be more to the story.

UK commandos fail to ‘liberate’ Estonian island during wargame, beaten by locals

The action was an utter defeat for the Brits, or at least that’s how the drill’s ‘referees’ saw it when they awarded victory in the Battle of Saaremaa to the Estonians.

The Royal Navy did not provide an in-depth analysis of why the liberation mission flopped. They mentioned that the Estonians had more personnel fighting, and that their troops had grown up on Saaremaa. They therefore “knew every rock and tree upon it.”

The British also pointed out that some of the UK Apache helicopters were fighting for the Estonian side. Despite the referees’ verdict, “the commandos claim it was a draw,” the Royal Navy noted in a lighthearted fashion.

Attorney claims Jeffrey Epstein had improper sexual contact with one woman while he was serving time

At least one young woman has accused Jeffrey Epstein of "improper sexual contact" while he was serving a 13-month jail sentence for state charges in 2008 and 2009, according to a lawyer who represents dozens of Epstein accusers.

Bradley Edwards, the lawyer, also alleged during a press conference Tuesday in New York that Epstein had inappropriate contact with some women as recently as 2011.

Edwards was responding to claims made Monday by Epstein's lawyers that Epstein had maintained a "spotless 14-year record," with "meticulous obedience" to the law, since he pleaded guilty to state prostitution-related charges in 2008 and was released from jail.

Last week, federal prosecutors in New York charged Epstein with sex trafficking of minors and sex trafficking conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty.

Journalist Goes to Ilhan Omar’s Homeland to Prove How Great It Is – Gets Killed by Terrorists

Before President Donald Trump suggested on Twitter Sunday that Rep. Ilhan Omar "go back" and "help fix" her native Somalia, Hodan Nalayeh was already in the country doing just that.

According to a Washington Post report published Saturday, the Somali-Canadian journalist had returned to the country of her birth to tell "uplifting" stories of how people lived there. However, her homecoming ended in tragedy.

By the time Trump unleashed his nativistic tirade against Omar, Nalayeh had been dead for two days.

She was killed Friday when al-Shabab militants stormed the Asasey Hotel in Kismayo, killing at least 26 people. It took around 14 hours for Somali security forces to regain control of the hotel, where another journalist and at least one American were among the dead.

The news media is going to do everything possible to deflect your attention from this basic fact:

Epstein’s Austrian passport with a home address in Saudi Arabia is a MAJOR smoking gun.

Why is it a smoking gun?

This was a real working passport issued by a foreign government.

Who is able to get passports issued at will – legally or illegally?

The passport was used. It had multiple visas. It was not a decoy to protect him from terrorists. And there is no legal way to get one for that purpose anyway.

He used it to travel from Europe to and from Saudi Arabia.

The passport says he had a home in Saudi Arabia. Did he?

Maybe the lazy news media will check the address out.

If he had a home in Saudi Arabia, what was it for?
