First Brexit, then… CorExit? EU’s mild response to coronavirus epidemic could be the final nail in the coffin for European unity

Rising tensions between member states of the EU, brought about by different approaches to dealing with the outbreak of Covid-19, could see the emergence of a new and particularly unwelcome problem for the bloc – CorExit.

While EU Crisis Management Commissioner Janez Lenarcic said Brussels was working on a regional approach to the crisis, the latest figures show more than 10,000 cases of coronavirus in Italy, nearly 2,000 each in France, Germany and Spain, and hundreds across the rest of the continent. With those numbers only ever likely to go higher, that “regional approach” needs to appear pretty darn quickly – like, yesterday.

In a clear sign of division among the EU members, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s comment that up to 70 percent of the population is likely to be hit by coronavirus didn’t go down well with Czech Republic Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who accused her of making remarks that would simply cause panic.

EU top dogs slam coronavirus travel bans but can’t coordinate bloc’s response, as member states shut borders to defend themselves

Brussels had hoped to show a ‘united front’ against the growing coronavirus crisis but, with panic setting in, top EU leaders are already scolding their unruly neighbors as responses vary wildly across the 27-member bloc.

In a statement on Thursday, European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen lashed out at the Donald Trump administration’s sudden decision to ban travel to the US from Europe, with the exception of the UK and Ireland.

Yet, closer to home, some EU nations have implemented similar widespread restrictions in the past 24 hours – much to the disappointment of the union’s top dogs.

NATO and COVID-19: a Parasitical Disease in Europe

The decision to go-ahead with NATO’s biggest-ever war games in Europe at a time of heightened fears over the coronavirus sure raises questions about the military alliance’s stated purpose of maintaining security.

NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg has said the Defender-Europe 20 exercises will not be cancelled due to the flu-like disease which has now spread to every country in the European Union causing hundreds of deaths so far.

30, 000 soldiers arrive in Europe without masks

Authored by Manlio Dinucci via VoltaireNet.org,

The United States are demonstrating their power by organising the largest transfer of their troops in Europe on the occasion of the Defender Europe 20 exercises. This country, which only a few years ago sacrificed its soldiers without warning in its nuclear tests, is taking no precautions for its soldiers faced with the coronavirus epidemic.

The United States have raised the alert for the corona virus in Italy to level 3 - (« avoid non-essential travel »), and taken it to level 4 for Lombardy and Veneto (« do not travel »), the same level as for China. The airline companies American Airlines and Delta Air Lines have cancelled all their flights between New York and Milan. US citizens who are travelling to Germany, Poland and other European countries are at alert level 2, and must take « increased precautions ».

"Bracing For Impact" – China Shock To Strike Germany's Largest Port In Days, As Trade Volumes Collapse 40%

The worst-case coronavirus scenario is now being realized for German ports, as collapsing trade volumes from China could push Europe’s largest economy into recession.

For the last three weeks, global markets have been obsessed with economic paralysis that is quickly spreading across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. An economic shock combined with a virus outbreak is what triggered a macro matters moment for investors, who sold first and are asking questions later, as it appears a global trade recession could be on the horizon.

US Nukes Reportedly Delivered To Poland

In order to prevent the conflict in the region to be nuclear, USA decided to take the nukes out of Turkey. The fact of taking the ammunition out of the country was widely discussed in Turkish media.

The media informed that five C-17A Globemasters III arrived to Incerlik AB from Ramstein Air Base and took the whole bulk of nukes out to Germany, Poland and one of the Baltic States.

An official in the Air Mobility Command who wished to remain anonymous said that the nuclear ammunition had already been delivered to Powidz, Poland in early March 2020.

In this way the tensions are to rise in Europe: the biggest US maneuvers in Europe, more nukes– that can provoke reactions from Russia.

Moscow has already warned that Russian government would take responsive measures to an upcoming, massive U.S. military deployment and U.S.-led exercises across multiple European states bordering Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unfortunately, just because something is the most pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid thing the US government could ever do, is no guarantee that it will not do just that, which is one of the most frightening aspects of US foreign policy; and right now, looking at the Turkish and Russian positions in Syria, this could potentially devolve into all-out war, as both Turkey and the US are sister NATO countries, and the US (and Israel) want Al Assad's government crushed to smithereens in Damascus.

Hijab Ban Scandal: Problem is Muslim Migrants Are Different From Norms & Laws of Sweden

Swedes should no longer keep their migration problem under the rug as the society is growing increasingly polarised over ethnic, religious, and cultural differences, says Luai Ahmed, a Yemeni-Swedish author and journalist.

A Saturday discussion concerning a hijab ban in the southern Swedish town of Skurup, aired by the country's national broadcaster Sveriges Television AB (SVT), triggered a firestorm of criticism on Twitter after an immigrant Muslim teacher who opposed the measure told her opponent to "move away from Sweden", accusing her of racism.

Italy ‘QUARANTINES’ 16 MILLION people in Lombardy & 14 other provinces in attempt to stop coronavirus outbreak

Italian PM Giuseppe Conte has signed an emergency decree, virtually locking down the Lombardy region and 14 other provinces until April 3, to curb the spread of coronavirus that killed at least 233 across the country so far.
While the central government stopped short of enforcing a mandatory quarantine and introducing a complete travel ban, calling it a “reduced mobility” regime, the bill virtually banned citizens from entering or leaving the “red zones” unless for an emergency or “essential work reason.”

Finland’s Millennial Feminist Govt to Help Greece… By Sending Border Guards to Help Migrants Claim Asylum

Finland’s millennial feminist-led government faces a vote of no confidence after pledging to send personnel to the Greek border — to help migrants claim asylum.

34-year-old Green League politician Maria Ohisalo, who serves as Minister of the Interior under 34-year-old Social Democratic party leader Sanna Marin in a red-green left-wing coalition government, said Finland was following the common European Union line to “reject Turkey’s attempts to use people as political pawns” — but also said that the Greek government’s decision to suspend asylum applications was “wrong”.

The Greeks have been faced with huge pressure at their land border with Turkey, where thousands of migrants have massed, facilitated by transport provided by the Turkish authorities.

Forced Islamisation at Swedish School as 9-Year-Olds Confess to Allah in Religious Studies – Reports

According to a disturbed parent, the teacher threatened her daughter with detention if she refused to participate in a lesson that included confessing to the Islamic faith in a letter and prayer.

Söderfors School in Tierp has come under fire for its unorthodox methods of teaching religious studies.

According to the news portal Katerina Magasin, third-graders were forced to confess to Islam and Allah in a letter during a lesson in religious studies. Among other things, the nine-year-olds had to write “I belong to Islam”.

Anamaria von Roteliuc, the mother of a nine-year-old girl, told the magazine the pupils also had to participate in a prayer, while a minaret call was played in the classroom. Furthermore, the children had to colour a mosque on a piece of paper.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a parent of a kid at that school who had been forced to identify with a religion other than their own, I would pull that kid out of school so fast, as to make the administration's head spin.

I would then either "vote with my feet", and leave Sweden as a "religious refugee", or find a job in another country which does not enforce the teaching of one religion over another in this way.

CORONAVIRUS: FRENCH GOVERNMENT SEIZES ALL STOCKS OF FACE MASKS, THOUSANDS STOLEN FROM HOSPITALS

SOURCE: BREITBART
French President Emmanuel Macron ordered the seizure of all stocks and future production of medical face masks in the face of a growing threat from Coronavirus, and a spate of looting of masks from medical facilities.

The China-origin Coronavirus, which has already killed a known 3,190 people worldwide is becoming more established in Europe, with worst-impacted nation Italy’s death toll standing at 79. Neighbouring France has seen a comparatively modest four deaths, but the French government hasn’t baulked at launching a series of sweeping measures under the guise of public health.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One thing you cannot accuse France's President Macron of being, is "not Draconian enough!!"

So President Macron, a word, please; when you make the possession of something illegal, you immediately create an illegal marketplace for said item; your energy would, most probably, have been better spent, in authorizing the best French manufacturers of these items, to be making these items exclusively for the French government, and paying them intelligently to do so.

By this action, you are stoking fears, and not really doing anything to alleviate the problem; right now, you need the wise counsel of a seasoned Epidemiologist, who can guide your actions to prevent as many infections as possible in France.

And I seriously doubt that this "mask seizure" would have been one of their top recommendations.

Assad Joins Forces With Libya’s Hafter to Combat Turkey: East Libya govt will open embassy in Damascus

While recent generations have shown them reluctant to expand far beyond their borders, in the past few months Turkey has shown interest in overseas military engagements. Forces have been active in northern Syria with an eye toward regime change, and Turkey has also committed to military involvement in Libya.

That’s given Turkey two potential enemies to worry about, and given them each a potential new ally. The Syrian government and Libya’s self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) or Gen. Khalifa Haftar have agreed to cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding to confront Turkish aggression.

The LNA’s adjoining government, the eastern-based Tobruk Parliament, has confirmed it will be opening an embassy in Damascus. This will be the first Libyan embassy in Syria since the 2012 NATO-imposed regime change in Libya.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the most significant developments regarding Libya, that you will almost never hear about, courtesy of the Corporate Presstitutes.

A very very curious, but astute, article appeared in mid-January of this year, from fp, and titled: Russia’s Role in the Libyan Civil War Gives It Leverage Over Europe

It then states that "recent joint Russian-Turkish summit in Moscow aimed at forging a cease-fire in Libya broke down after the Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar left without signing the proposed truce agreement. One of Haftar’s main backers is Russia, and his unwillingness to sign on to the deal raises important questions about not only the degree of influence Russia actually has in Libya, but also how serious it is about bringing an end to the conflict.

Russia first rose to prominence in Libya in September 2019 after it deployed mercenaries to the front lines of Tripoli to back Haftar, sparking concern in the United States and Europe that the Kremlin had finally thrown its hat into Libya’s civil war. Its presence in Libya was strikingly reminiscent of the decisive role it played in Syria, where it backed the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to brutal effect and essentially saved the regime from collapse."

but if Syria (and Russia) are bringing force to bear against the current UN/proxy military government in Tripoli, which Erdogan is claiming he is fighting to defend, we have a couple of potential outcomes, both lousy, for US involvement here.

The first is a triumphant Haftar, after taking Tripoli, and the rest of the country, calling for new elections, and throwing the delegitimized UN government out, and the question has to be asked; what is the US government actually willing to do to prevent this, in light of the fact that Russia is siding with Haftar?!?

The second is a prolonged US/NATO-led military against Haftar and the Russians, which could well turn Libya into another US Vietnam, with the same ultimate outcome as this war had.

And what concerns me, is that those in the Bowels of Power in this country appear to be sleepwalking into this trap, just as blissfully as did the US government in World War I.

One of the most brilliant films about war ever to have been made, is the 2nd Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law film about Sherlock Holmes; the title is "A Game of Shadows", and if you have not seen it, I urge you to do so, because it talks in very plain language, about just how regional wars like this get fanned, until they become world wars; this is the potential impact of Al Assad throwing his geopolitical fortunes with Russia, in supporting Haftar in Libya.

Standing up to Turkey: Austria’s chancellor is the only EU leader prepared to call out President Erdogan over weaponizing refugees

A poorly-considered fix to prevent Syrian refugees flooding Europe has come undone for the EU as Erdogan opens Turkey’s border to the west, with only Austrian Chancellor Kurz exposing Brussels’ migration policy failure.
If the EU had not been so distracted with the whole prolonged Brexit fiasco or its inability to staff up its Commission with acceptable new faces, then it might have noticed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had weaponised thousands of Syrian refugees.

While Brussels has taken its eye off the ball, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was paying attention and rightly accused Erdogan’s opening of Turkey’s border with western Europe as “an attack on the EU.”

Erdogan’s Dance of Death With NATO

Although the evidence is murky, it appears that both Russian and Syrian jet fighters took part in the Feb. 27 attack on a Turkish mechanized infantry battalion consisting of roughly 400 soldiers. According to an account in Al-Monitor, two Syrian Sukhoi SU-22 pounded the convoy, forcing the troops to take cover. But then a pair of Russian Sukhoi SU-34s dropped advanced laser-guided bunker-buster bombs on two roadside buildings where Turkish forces had taken shelter, burying them in the rubble.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And the US government has responded accordingly, according to an article in msn.com, datelined today:U.S. promises Turkey ammunition for Syria's Idlib battle

The article goes on to state:

U.S. promises Turkey ammunition for Syria's Idlib battle

The United States is willing to give NATO ally Turkey ammunition alongside humanitarian assistance in northwestern Syria where Ankara is in a deepening standoff with Russia, the U.S. special representative for the region said on Tuesday. Lucy Fielder reports."

As I have mentioned on this site many times before, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government can do, is no guarantee that it will not do it; I am very concerned that President Trump may well rue the day he and his Cabinet decided that this was the "right way" of handling Erdogan's "military misadventures" in Syria.

Erdogan warns Europe to expect ‘millions’ of migrants after Turkey opens borders

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Monday that "millions" of migrants would soon head for Europe, drawing accusations from EU leaders that he is trying to pressure them into backing his incursions into Syria.

Turkey gave the green light to refugees and migrants on Friday to leave for the European Union and thousands have since massed at the Greek border, triggering fears of an influx like that which poisoned European politics in 2015.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel described Turkey's move as "unacceptable" and EU migration commissioner Margaritis Schinas said nobody could "blackmail or intimidate the EU".

But Turkey, which hosts roughly four million refugees, is trying to hold off another mass influx from Syria – where government forces backed by Russian air power are advancing into the last rebel stronghold of Idlib.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Europe is singularly unprepared for this flood of immigrants, and has no cohesive way to stop them, save assassination at the borders, which is hardly likely.

But the real problem here, is the reality that Russia and Turkey are closer to war over Syria, than they have ever been before; ad US and European/NATO fire-power to the mix, and we have a recipe for disaster.

As NATO is a partner with Turkey, this makes the possibility of an intense US/NATO incursion into Syria, a lot more real than it has been before.
And we also have a companion piece, also from antiwar.com, with the following headline: Threat of a US and Russian Nuclear War Is Now at Its Greatest Since 1983
The article goes on to state: "When the Commander of NATO says he is a fan of flexible first strike at the same time that NATO is flexing its military muscle on Russia’s border, the risk of inadvertent nuclear war is real.

US Air Force Gen. Tod D. Wolters told the Senate this week he “is a fan of flexible first strike” regarding NATO’s nuclear weapons, thereby exposing the fatal fallacy of the alliance’s embrace of American nuclear deterrence policy.

It was one of the most remarkable yet underreported exchanges in recent Senate history. Earlier this week, during the testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee of General Tod Wolters, the commander of US European Command and, concurrently, as the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (SACEUR) also the military head of all NATO armed forces, General Wolters engaged in a short yet informative exchange with Senator Deb Fischer, a Republican from the state of Nebraska.

Following some initial questions and answers focused on the alignment of NATO’s military strategy with the 2018 National Defense Strategy of the US, which codified what Wolters called “the malign influence on behalf of Russia” toward European security, Senator Fischer asked about the growing recognition on the part of NATO of the important role of US nuclear deterrence in keeping the peace. “We all understand that our deterrent, the TRIAD, is the bedrock of the security of this country,” Fischer noted. “Can you tell us about what you are hearing…from our NATO partners about this deterrent?”

Wolters responded by linking the deterrence provided to Europe by the US nuclear TRIAD with the peace enjoyed on the European continent over the past seven decades. Fischer asked if the US nuclear umbrella was “vital in the freedom of NATO members”; Wolters agreed. Remarkably, Wolters linked the role of nuclear deterrence with the NATO missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere outside the European continent. NATO’s mission, he said, was to “proliferate deterrence to the max extent practical to achieve greater peace.”

Then came the piece de resistance of the hearing. “What are your views, Sir,” Senator Fischer asked, “of adopting a so-called no-first-use policy. Do you believe that that would strengthen deterrence?”

General Wolters’ response was straight to the point. “Senator, I’m a fan of flexible first-use policy.”

I don't know if that statement scares any one of you as much as it does me, but right now, my hair is standing straight up in the back... and breakdancing,

Greece has no right to stop accepting asylum requests – UN

The UN’s refugee agency said on Monday that Greece had no right to stop accepting asylum applications as Athens struggles with a sudden increase in arrivals of Middle East refugees and migrants from Turkey at its border.

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Sunday his country would not be accepting any new asylum requests for a month after two days of clashes between border police and thousands of people seeking to enter the EU from Turkey, Reuters reported.

“It is important that the authorities refrain from any measures that might increase the suffering of vulnerable people,” the UNHCR said in a statement. “All states have a right to control their borders and manage irregular movements, but at the same time should refrain from the use of excessive or disproportionate force and maintain systems for handling asylum requests in an orderly manner.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would then politely suggest, that this UN Committee, and all of its members, insist that all immigrants straining Greece's immigration system, immediately (and gently) be air-dropped on the homes of all members of this Committee, and their Committee Head; happy "cultural enrichment", guys!!

Having been hit by the Syrian Air Force in Idlib, Turkey has called on NATO’s protection, but as much as the alliance would like a fight with Assad and his ally Russia, it’s refused to back Ankara’s questionable adventure.
Turkey engaged NATO in Article 4 consultations, seeking help regarding the crisis in Syria. The meeting produced a statement from NATO condemning the actions of Russia and Syria and advocating for humanitarian assistance, but denying Turkey the assistance it sought.

A failed gamble

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is painfully obvious, that Erdogan did not due his "due dilligence" with NATO, of which Turkey is a member, to sound out potential support for this military misadventure, which is on track to be one of the most miserable epic fails in Turkey's contemporary history, before he decided to send in troops.

The next Turkish Parliamentary elections are scheduled in about 3 years from now. Turkish General Elections Scheduled for 2023.

IF Edrogan keeps writing geopolitical checks his military is unable to cash, this pathologically "bad behaviour" on his part may well sour the Turkish electorate on him; cause the voting public to go back to a Parliamentary system of elections; and find someone else who will care enough about the Turkish people and its military to not put them in harm's way like this.

And now, we have a related story, from rt.com, with the following headline:
Turkey & Syria on brink of WAR in Idlib: How did it come to this?

I am hoping (and praying) that Russia's collective general level head will continue to prevail, but it all depends on how hard Erdogan, and his military, are willing to push back here.

Erdogan has been very much behaving like the human version of a loose cannon, ever since the 2016 attempted coup in Turkey; I am seriously hoping that there has got to be a point, where he has to realize what harm he is bringing to both his people, and his military; but in looking at his current behaviour, relative to Syria, I am not so certain that we are going to see a change in the behaviour which brought Turkey into Syria in the first place.

Hundreds of Refugees Reportedly Move Towards European Borders Amid Escalation in Idlib

Ankara has linked a new refugee crisis with renewed hostilities in Syria’s Idlib Province, where the Syrian Army has been repelling militant attacks, some of which began under the cover of Turkish artillery fire, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

Hundreds of refugees coming from Syria, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq are currently moving towards Turkey’s borders with Europe following reports that Ankara will no longer prevent migrants from crossing them, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported. According to the media outlet, these refugees have been moving in large groups on foot and using vehicles via the cities of Istanbul, Edirne, Izmir, and Aydin.

The number of confirmed cases in Italy has soared from 3 to 322 in the space of just five days, with 10 deaths, but authorities insist that the Schengen Area, which abolishes passport checks and border controls between 26 European states, must not be compromised.

Europe keeps Schengen zone open despite coronavirus

European countries have no plans to suspend the Schengen free travel zone despite the coronavirus outbreak in Italy, Brussels has said, as it cautioned against a “panic” response.

The EU’s health security committee was due to meet on Monday for talks on the Italian crisis as the European Commission announced a €232m package for the global fight against the disease’s spread.

An emergency assessment mission of the World Health Organization and the EU’s European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control is due to arrive in Italy, where 229 have tested positive for the virus and six people have died, on Tuesday as authorities there battle to contain the largest outbreak outside Asia.

“We need to take this situation extremely seriously — but we must not give in to panic and of course to disinformation,” Stella Kyriakides, EU health commissioner, told reporters in Brussels on Monday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When politics trump hard science, bad things happen; of course, with hubris the size of Texas, the Eurocrats are sitting safe in their bunkers, believing, with an absolutely stunning amount of "magical thinking" that this disease is never going to hit the EU, as it has China.

Overt Trump Regime Support for Al-Qaeda Offshoots in Syria, ISIS-Daesh Et Al are Pentagon/CIA Proxies

Both right wings of the US war party support ISIS, Al-Qaeda, its offshoots, and likeminded terrorist groups in Syria and other countries where their fighters are deployed as Pentagon/CIA proxy troops.

Instead of explaining reality on the ground in US war theaters, establishment media blame nations victimized by its aggression for high crimes committed against them.

Syria is Exhibit A, US aggression ignored, government forces, greatly aided by Russian airpower, vilified for liberating cities, towns and villages from US-supported “jihadists” — what’s currently ongoing in Idlib province, the last stronghold in the country of these elements.

On Monday, Trump’s envoy for regime change in Syria James Jeffrey indirectly expressed support for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham — the al-Qaeda offshoot al-Nusra by another name.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Once you realize that this is all about fossil fuel; the control of it, and the selling of it only in American dollars, does the American position of utilizing terrorists to further their objectives in the region become crystal clear.

Musical Chairs in the White House

On the job training in the intelligence community.

Donald Trump’s latest appointment, guided purely by malevolence, is, however, in another category completely, even in an administration where bullheaded ignorance is considered a virtue. Rick Grenell, currently the United States Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, is completely unqualified to be Director of National Intelligence (DNI), where he would be the nominal head of the entire intelligence community (IC), 17 organizations including the Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency and National Reconnaissance Office.

Is 5g the Real Culprit?

There sure is a lot of Gorilla Dust flying around. Is she on to something or just more Gorilla Dust. I don't know what to believe anymore!

My work now backed up on Brighteon.com. (more below) Is this truly Viral or is to do with the fact that F.I.V.E.-G? C.H.I.N.A has unleashed 60 Ghz all throughout the country with WU-HAN as the PILOT CITY. Unbelievable comparisons to symptoms 'showing' as a V-Irus compared vs what happens when one is hit with 60GHz waves, and it's impact on the uptake of oxygen via the hemoglobin. This specific frequency is absorbed by oxygen. 60GHz causes the rotation of the electrons around the oxygen molecule to spin, thus inhibiting the ability of hemoglobin to properly uptake these oxygen molecules. What would be the ultimate 'solution' to such a problem as this "V.I.Rus"?

Coronavirus Could Be on the Verge of Worldwide Breakout

Paul Craig Roberts

It is difficult to get reliable information about coronavirus. The information difficulty is further complicated by interest groups using the outbreak for their own agendas. For example, many both inside and outside China are using the spread of the virus to criticize the Chinese government. Others, both inside and outside China, claim the virus is a bioweapon unleashed on China by the US. Still others say the global elite has decided to implement a program to reduce the world population and that Bill Gates, one of the global elite, said some months ago that a global pandemic would break out at this time. Some Internet sites attract traffic by posting reports of massive numbers of Chinese deaths and crematoriums running 24/7. The official Chinese story has been that the virus originated in a market that sold wild animal meat. The fact remains that Wuhan, apparently a city larger than any in the US, has been locked down for a month.

Update (0910ET): The coronavirus is already forcing Iranians to tweak certain practices, including their daily greetings.

As we reported over the weekend, more than a dozen towns in Lombardy - the hardest hit region with 167 confirmed cases and 4 deaths - are on complete lockdown. According to the latest update, there are now 219 confirmed cases in Italy, as well as five deaths.

Angelo Borrelli, head of the country's civil protection agency, said Monday during a press briefing that another 91 people are currently in isolation inside their homes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is a companion piece to this, dateline today, also from zerohedge.com, with the following title: 'What Coverup?': WHO Refuses To Acknowledge China's Early Censorship Of Outbreak

The article then goes on to state: "Update (0816ET): For the most part, the WHO briefing on its visit was everything we feared it would be: Nothing revelatory, just long, boring droning and lukewarm praise about China's response to the outbreak, without once mentioning any kind of coverup.

One reporter apparently felt empowered to challenge the Chinese censors and ask about the cover-up, to which the WHO responded: 'What coverup?' "

Outstanding work, gentlemen.

Northern Italy in Lock-down (around 10 towns)

The number of people in Italy infected with the new virus from China more than quadrupled Friday due to an emerging cluster of cases in the country's north that prompted officials to order schools, restaurants and businesses to close.

Many of the 14 new cases represented the first infections in Italy acquired through secondary contagion and brought the country's total to 17. The cluster was located in a handful of tiny towns around Lodi, in the Lombardy region, said the Lombardy regional health chief Giulio Gallera.

The first to fall ill was a 38-year-old Italian who met with someone who had returned from China on Jan. 21 without presenting any symptoms of the new virus, health authorities said. That person was being kept in isolation and appears to present antibodies to the virus.

Italy becomes Europe’s largest coronavirus hot spot with 2 deaths & 79 cases across 5 regions

The number of confirmed Covid-19 coronavirus cases has soared to at least 79 in Italy, forcing authorities to introduce increasingly strict containment and quarantine measures in the northern regions of Lombardy and Veneto.
A 78-year-old man died near Padua in the Veneto region on Friday night, becoming the second victim of the virus in Italy, after a 76-year-old woman was found dead on Thursday 50km south of Milan.

At least 17 people have been confirmed infected in Veneto so far, including the latest victim’s wife and daughter, as authorities are still mulling whether the Carnival of Venice events should be cancelled. In neighboring Lombardy, there are 54 cases, including one in Milan – a city with a population of 1.4 million, where Women’s Fashion Week is currently taking place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Prayers for the families and friends of those affected; but again, China's scientists, and the world's scientists, need to work together, with complete transparency, to determine what the hell happened; develop and fast-track a vaccine; and figure out how to prevent such a slate-wiper from ever rearing its ugly head again.

As to whether this will happen, is anyone's guess; but logically, this is what should happen.

2/7/20 Danny Sjursen on America’s Coming Battle for Eurasia

Danny Sjursen is back for part two of his conversation with Scott about America’s foreign policy disasters, this time focusing on what Sjursen calls “the coming battle for Eurasia.” According to an old theory of geopolitics, the power that controls central Eurasia—that is, eastern Europe and parts of the Middle East, with all its natural resources and strategic position—will be the dominant global hegemon. Obviously, certain figures in the American government would like to be in that position. The problem, Sjursen points out, is that America is way too far away to have any business trying to do this, especially while countries like Russia and China might have an interest in trying to stop us. He says that based on his experience in the military, people seem to think the U.S. could wage a conventional war with tanks, infantry, and aircraft carriers against other world powers, without resorting to nuclear weapons.

? Thought you might be interested...This was sent by someone who was interested in knowing what's what, dug around, and found the following....

"Having stumbled across an interview with Greta Thunberg's captain of the sailing vessel that brought her across to New York, I was very surprised at what he said. He was flying back to Europe from New York and 3 others were flying from Europe to New York to sail the vessel back. So that is four flights to save her one flight. Obviously a PR stunt. But it got me curious as to who the heck was paying for these flights? This is a quick synopsis of what I found out.
