America The Victim: Are Enemies Lining Up For Revenge In The Wake Of COVID-19?

Authored by Philip Giraldi via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

When in trouble politically, governments have traditionally conjured up a foreign enemy to explain why things are going wrong.

Whatever one chooses to believe about the coronavirus, the fact is that it has resulted in considerable political backlash against a number of governments whose behavior has been perceived as either too extreme or too dilatory. Donald Trump’s White House has taken shots from both directions and the response to the disease has also been pilloried due to repeated gaffes by the president himself. The latest mis-spoke, now being framed by Trump’s press secretary as sarcasm, involved a presidential suggestion that one might consider injecting or imbibing disinfectant to treat the disease, either of which could easily prove lethal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What we appear to be seeing here, is an out-of-control President, who somehow has never, either in his private life, or his extraordinarily disappointing and thoroughly vilifiable public life, been told that when you screw up, particularly in his role as "Leader of the Free World", one takes responsibility for one's screw ups, listens to true wisdom as to how to fix them, and does the work to do so.

Not this President; he is ready to blame; vilify; sanction; and literally threaten multiple wars across multiple parts of the earth, in order to make it appear that he has utterly no responsibility for the state of the world today, in terms of health, from the global pandemic, and how it has affected the US; geopolitics; or the economy, which has just fallen into the proverbial, undrainable gutter, and may not get up again for a very long, long, time.

I don't know about you, folks, but I cringe at our options this November; on one hand, we have a mentally enfeebled, potential serial sexual predator, who may well, if he wins the election, have to be replaced by his running mate and Vice President shortly after the election, by the invocation of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, or... the man currently residing in the oval office, who is pathologically incapable of taking personal, or professional responsibility over the intense, foul harm his presidency has caused this country... and the world.

Pompeo Demands Countries Block Airspace To Iran's 'Terrorist Airline' After Venezuela Deliveries

The US is going on the offensive once again against Venezuela, this time attempting to break up growing Iranian cooperation and assistance to Caracas. The two so-called 'rogue states' recently targeted for US-imposed regime change are helping each other fight coronavirus as well as Washington-led sanctions. Specifically Tehran has ramped up cargo deliveries related getting Venezuela's derelict oil refineries fully operational.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in new statements has called on international allies to block airspace specifically for Iran's Mahan Air, currently under US sanctions, and which has in recent days delivered cargoes of "unknown support" to the Venezuelan government, according to Pompeo's words.

Late last week it was revealed Venezuela received a huge boost in the form of oil refinery materials and chemicals to fix the catalytic cracking unit at the 310,000 barrels-per-day Cardon refinery, essential to the nation's gas production.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh holy crud, is Pompeo attempting to pull another "Libya" toward Iran and Venezuela?!?

Please remember what was done here, and why:

Military intervention in Libya

The Wikipedia article goes on to state: "On 19 March 2011, a multi-state NATO-led coalition began a military intervention in Libya, ostensibly to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, in response to events during the Libyan Civil War. The United Nations' intent and voting was to have "an immediate ceasefire in Libya, including an end to the current attacks against civilians, which it said might constitute crimes against humanity ... imposing a ban on all flights in the country's airspace – a no-fly zone – and tightened sanctions on the [Muammar] Gaddafi regime and its supporters."[26]

American and British naval forces fired over 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles,[27] whereas the French Air Force, British Royal Air Force, and Royal Canadian Air Force[28] undertook sorties across Libya and a naval blockade by Coalition forces.[29] French jets launched air strikes against Libyan Army tanks and vehicles.[30][31] The intervention did not employ foreign ground troops.[32]

The Libyan government response to the campaign was totally ineffectual, with Gaddafi's forces not managing to shoot down a single NATO plane despite the country possessing 30 heavy SAM batteries, 17 medium SAM batteries, 55 light SAM batteries (a total of 400–450 launchers, including 130–150 2K12 Kub launchers and some 9K33 Osa launchers), and 440–600 short-ranged air-defense guns.[14][33] The official names for the interventions by the coalition members are Opération Harmattan by France; Operation Ellamy by the United Kingdom; Operation Mobile for the Canadian participation and Operation Odyssey Dawn for the United States.[34] Italy initially opposed the intervention but then offered to take part in the operations on the condition that NATO took the leadership of the mission instead of individual countries (particularly France). As this condition was later met, Italy shared its bases and intelligence with the allies.[35]"

I would like to remind you of the very sober, and thoroughly terrifying, observation, that those who do not understand history... are doomed to repeat it.

Libya lies in ruins today, still suffering from the horrifically violent upheaval of a civil war which has raged across the country from this military intervention in 2011, well into today, in April of 2020, making it 9 years of civil war.

Can NATO be talked into such a monstrous reality yet again, and if so, could they be demanded/cajoled by Pompeo, in creating another "no-fly", coupled with a "No Sail" zone over Iran and the Persian Gulf, while the OAS is also cajoled/commanded to do the same thing to Venezuela? and if so, how would they enforce it?!?

Please remember: Venezuela left the OAS in April of last year, Venezuela leaves OAS, Claiming that President Trump "Runs Over Member States."

And how will Russia react, if such a thing happens?!?

Remember, Russia assured Iran last year, that if the US attacks it, Iran will not be alone, if the US attacks.

Folks, we are about to be introduced to an alleged, new "Axis of Evil"; I would encourage you to examine those claims before you "jump on the bandwagon here and say, "HELL, yes, let's go to war with Venezuela and Iran, they are colluding like twin halves of an evil empire!!".

Venezuela may not be very useful in a long-term, geopolitical firefight, but Iran is, and would be; Russia's strategy, would then probably be to attempt to make any potential US invasion of Iran draw quick and immediate parallels with the horrific, ultimate ending of the war against Vietnam, in which the US government and military just got "ground down."

The longer I live, the more I understand that both the US government and military, seem to have very difficult challenges in learning from their mistakes; I wish I could see this as being otherwise, but 20th and 21st US history and logic, forbid me from seeing the facts this way.

In Letting Navy Sink Iran Boats, Trump Grabs Illegal War Power

At 5:08 a.m. (EST) on April 22, 2020, President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter: "I have instructed the United States Navy to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea."

Wags have mocked Trump for wanting to “shoot down” boats, which don’t fly. Infinitely more important is the heightened risk of war with Iran – and thereupon with Russia – if the military carries out Trump’s intent. Consider too his blow to the rule of law by –

Treading on Congress’s exclusive authority to declare war (Constitution, Article I, Section 8, eleventh paragraph).
Disregarding the United Nations Charter’s ban on the use or threat of force against any nation contrary to the UN’s peaceful purpose (Article II, Paragraph 4).

Trump Regime Aims to Suppress Iranian Truth-Telling

US hostility toward Iran is all about its sovereign independence — free from US control.

It’s also because of its large hydrocarbon resources the US seeks control over, along with wanting Israel’s main rival neutralized.

Hostile US policy toward Iran reached a unprecedented level under Trump and hardliners surrounding him.Earlier the Obama regime falsely claimed that the US can “seize any .com, .net and .org domain name because the companies that have the contracts to administer them are based on United States soil.”

Cyberspace is the last frontier of press freedom. Without it, the Internet would be like cable TV, controlled by corporate giants.

Truth-telling would be marginalized and silenced, speech and press freedoms consigned to the dustbin of history — where things are heading without redoubtable resistance.

Republicans and Dems are hostile to free and open expression.

To Pressure Iran, Pompeo Will Argue US Remains a Party to Nuclear Deal

or years, one of the big criticisms of the US reneging on the P5+1 nuclear deal and withdrawing as a party was that the US had lost its seat at the table as a party to enforcement of the deal. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is now trying to find a way to have his cake and eat it too.

Under a new legal argument Pompeo is in the process of putting together, the US will argue that it is still a party to the nuclear deal with Iran, even though the US withdrew from the deal in May 2018 and never provided promised sanction relief. Pompeo would argue that this allows the US to force snapback sanctions on Iran even if everyone else objects.

Pompeo’s plan will argue that President Obama said at the time of the deal that the US wouldn’t need UN support for a snapback, though its almost certain Obama did not envision the US attempting this years after withdrawing from the deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What the hell is Pompeo ingesting on Air Force One, please?!?

I'd really love to be able to laugh at this insanity; but what concerns me, is not being able to stop, in light of the reality that President Trump, concretely and completely, walked away from the deal in 2018, period, end of discussion.

US Beefs Up Gunship Presence In Gulf Ready To Back Trump's Iran 'Red Line'

American forces in the Persian Gulf have greatly bolstered their ability to respond to Iran at a moment President Trump has renewed trading threats and barbs with the Islamic Republic, ordering the US Navy "to shoot down and destroy any and all Iranian gunboats if they harass our ships at sea."

This includes the Pentagon bolstering its AC-130 gunships and Apache attack helicopters to target and destroy small surface threats in the Arabian Sea. Tehran has meanwhile responded with its own threats to 'destroy' American vessels of course.

It was apparently this beefed up presence that led to the April 15 confrontation about which Trump was responding by ordering destruction of boats that "harass" American vessels.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just because something would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government could do is, unfortunately, no guarantee that it will not do it.

US elections are to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020; that is only 160 days from today; and between the Dementocrats' "race to the bottom" with their Candidate appearing to suffer from both dementia AND a potential history of sexual predation, "Sleepy Joe" Biden, and President Trump's fumbling and bumbling on Covid 19 and the shutdown that has destroyed huge swathes of the the American economy, God only knows how this campaign is going to unfold.

But I can tell you one thing for certain; Team Trump desperately needs a win, of some kind, and I am hoping (and praying) that a war against Iran is NOT what they are looking at right now, as their "pre-election" win."

Russia's Putin has been very clear, that if the US goes into Iran, they will most probably be facing the Russian military as well, and as we have seen very clearly in Syria, their weaponry does work as advertised, which cannot be said with a completely straight face, regarding some of the US's most costly weapons programs.

The F-35 still has hundreds of problems the Pentagon has no plans on fixing

"Driving The Gringos In The White House Crazy": Iran & Venezuela Deepen Sanctions-Busting Cooperation

Two so-called 'rogue states' recently targeted for US-imposed regime change are helping each other fight coronavirus as well as Washington-led sanctions.

Late last week it was revealed Venezuela received a huge boost in the form of oil refinery materials and chemicals to fix the catalytic cracking unit at the 310,000 barrels-per-day Cardon refinery, essential to the nation's gas supply.

This as a fuel and food shortage crisis has driven protests and clashes with police, especially in hard-hit rural areas, over the past month.

“Thanks to the support of our allies in the Islamic Republic of Iran... We will overcome our difficulties,” Erling Rojas, vice minister for refining and petrochemicals in Venezuela’s Oil Ministry, stated when the much-needed refinery parts arrived last Thursday.

He further underscored in colorfully provocative rhetoric that Iran’s support is “driving the gringos in the White House crazy.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

What did the Trump administration think, that both governments were going to roll over and play dead, as their responses to these sanctions?!?

I am very much reminded of a one-liner from the American comedian Ron White, which is: "You can't fix stupid!"

And unfortunately, the "stupid" when it comes to Iran, is that President Trump, and his cabinet, are, collectively, pathologically incapable of seeing Iran, except through the jaundiced eyes, and equally jaundiced perception, of one of his BFFs in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu.

The other bit of "stupid" comes from ignoring a statement made by one of Putin's confidantes a year ago last summer to their Iranian counterparts at a summit last summer: Iran will not be alone, if the US attacks.

The statement was made by Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow\ last Summer, and reported by the Moscow Times.

There is one thing of which I am very certain; Kabulov would never have made the statement without Putin's absolute backing: if the US government attacks Iran, we will most probably be facing Russian military in Iran as well.

And Putin will move heaven and earth to insure that any US invasion of Iran.... will have precisely the same outcome as did the US invasion of Vietnam.

Iran’s Nurses Are Martyrs to Trump’s Maximum Pressure

The Trump administration’s sanctions have made it impossible for Iranian medical personnel to keep themselves safe amid the pandemic.

Medical personnel work at Razi hospital, which has been allocated to treat COVID-19 patients in Ghaenshar, Iran, on April 9. Majid Saeedi/Getty Images
Narjes Khanalizadeh was a 25-year-old nurse in Gilan, a province along the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. In late February, after working with coronavirus patients at a hospital in the city of Lahijan, she fell sick. Within a few days, she was dead.

A week later, results from a coronavirus test that had been administered before her death came back positive, sparking anger and fear among the country’s nurses. Khanalizadeh, who had been working without adequate protective gear, is one of more than a dozen nurses who have died from the coronavirus since February, despite desperate warnings from nurses about shortages of personal protective equipment at hospitals, including at Khanalizadeh’s.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is precisely what this US Administration wants to see happen in Iran; first responders dead, sick unto death, unable to work, and a spectacular spike in the death toll in Iran.

Well, it appears that the current Administration is definitely getting their wishes here, in spades.

Congrats, folks; Josef Mengele would have been SO PROUD OF YOU!!

Israel Kills Nine in Attack Near Syria’s Historic Palmyra

At least nine people were killed Tuesday in Israeli attacks on a Syrian military base near the historic city of Palmyra. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported the death toll, saying six of the slain were “not Syrian,” but were believed to be Lebanese.

Israeli attacks in Syria are common enough, and often target foreign Shi’ites, who irrespective of their country of origin will be labeled “Iranian” by Israeli officials. The Syrian government confirmed the attack, saying they’d intercepted several Israeli missiles.

Palmyra is not a major site of combat lately, so it’s not clear why Israel would attack it in the first place. Palmyra is an important historical site, and after years of complaining of damage ISIS might do there, its likely there will be a backlash if Israel damages anything as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just how long Russia's President Putin will allow these Israeli targeted assassinations to continue; I would like to hope, not much longer.

Here we go again with the regime change

In a new Foreign Affairs article this week, Eric Edelman of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and the Council on Foreign Relations’ Ray Takeyh argue that the United States should be using every tool of statecraft at its disposal to aid dissidents in Iran to overthrow the regime.

They bluntly state that, with Iran, the “only U.S. policy that makes sense is to seek regime change.” They contend that the Iranian regime is inherently revolutionary, and as such, American interests in the Middle East can only be secure once the regime is deposed.

‘Armageddon’: When Coronavirus Struck a Tehran Hospital

It was like scenes from an Armageddon-like movie made in Hollywood instead of a real-world Tehran hospital, Hesam Khezri said, describing the state of Masih Daneshvari during the first days of the coronavirus outbreak in Iran.

“Looking down from the rooftop of the hospital…you could see dozens of ambulances rushing with their sirens blaring. People in sanitary clothes were going hurriedly from side to side transferring patients on stretchers,” Khezri told Middle East Eye.

Khezri is a doctor’s assistant working in the hospital’s surgery department but was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) as the demand for more personnel to deal with the crisis grew.

He was diagnosed with Covid-19 on 1 April.

“Suddenly, we were spearheading the fight against Corona,” Khezri said of Masih Daneshvari, a big hospital built in a mountainous area north of the capital.

Iran vs US: Tehran ramps up its defences with groundbreaking new system

The two long-ranged radar systems were unveiled on Sunday in a major sign of the country’s defensive development as seen in pictures released by Fars News Agency. Opened by high-ranking army officials, the Khalij-e Fars has an operational range of 800km (497 miles). The second, named Moraqeb, is a mobile unit which has a smaller range but is able to detect low-altitude UAVs.

Both systems are hugely significant and would allow the country to detect most foreign aircraft entering its airspace.

In a further upgrade to its military arsenal, Iran has acquired three bomb-carrying drones.

IRGC’s new device can help detect coronavirus in seconds

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has unveiled a new technology that enables the detection and diagnosis of the new coronavirus within a 100-meter radius in just seconds.

War-Torn Yemen Confirms First COVID-19 Case, Official Says Brace For 'Millions'

Throughout five years of war Yemen has been considered by the UN and health agencies to be the 'world's worst humanitarian disaster' — but few Americans have heard much about the war or its over 100,000 dead, including tens of thousands of civilians, given that it's the US-Saudi coalition doing the bombing.

But now Yemen is about to rip back into the headlines, given the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the country, with health officials fearing "one million" could be infected if the outbreak takes hold in the war-torn country.

This as already some 25 million civilians are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including basic food, medicines, and other staples. The Saudis have essentially imposed a complete land, sea and air blockade of the country for years. Its health system also long ago collapsed.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As I type this, there was a news flash in the Presstitute Non-Media from yesterday which got nearly zero traction, and the headline read: Saudi royals hit by COVID-19; King, Crown Prince in isolation. Any infected staff members will now be treated at a less elite hospital to save room for royals.

Please remember; Saudi royalty will be treated brilliantly, and their staffs, at least well, and with any and everything known to help them recover, and ease their suffering.

But once this gets hold of the Yemeni population, the Yemeni people, suffering from underlying medical conditions as malnutrition; cholera; and with infants; children; women and the medically fragile elderly maimed for life by US/Saudi bombing sorties, and God knows what else, thanks to the US/Saudi blockade, Yemenis will die by the thousands from this new scourge.

I would truly love to be a citizen of a country which does not, as a matter of national course and policy, commit war crimes; unfortunately, Mike and I are both too broke, and too old, to make that happen at this time.

But having said this, I want to make something very clear to both the present, and future, US administrations; the moment you start committing war crimes around the world in our names, and with our tax dollars, this site will, in the most peaceful, logical, and most documented manner, will call you out on it, for both our brother and sister Americans, and all the world to see.

US attempt to block Iranian funds in Europe nullified: Iran

Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), also known as Bank Markazi, says the country has won a legal battle in Europe to dismiss a US attempt to have Iranian funds blocked and handed over to Washington for compensating the so-called victims of terror.

Abdolnasser Hemmati said on Wednesday that courts in Luxembourg had taken Iran’s side in a dispute over $1.6 billion worth of Iranian funds hold by Clearstream, a securities depository, which Washington had sought to block and confiscate.

“Through Bank Markazi’s legal follow-up, the US attempt to have CBI’s funds in Europe confiscated and transferred was nullified,” said Hemmati.

Iran Pleads For $5BN IMF Loan As Deaths Soar Past 4,000; US To Block Funds

Iran is desperately pleading for the International Monetary Fund to approve a $5 billion emergency loan to help the outbreak-ravaged country to survive.

“I urge international organizations to fulfill their duties... we are a member of the IMF... There should be no discrimination in giving loans,” President Hassan Rouhani said in televised remarks Wednesday.

He further slammed US sanctions on the Islamic Republic as “economic and medical terrorism” — given the US-led near total economic blockade of the country has severely hampered Tehran's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are currently over 64,500 confirmed cases and as of Wednesday this includes a grim milestone of surpassing 4,000 deaths after months ago Iran became the first epicenter outside China, followed by Italy.

Of course, the U.S. is expected to block the loan:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am not surprised, but completely sickened by what the US government is doing here; apparently, to the Foggy Bottomites, they just don't care about how many Iranian people whose lives will be snuffed out by this virus, to allow reasonable aid to be released by the IMF to help this combat it.

And that... is completely despicable.

Al-Kastan is located near the town of Jisr al-Shughur, controlled by the Al-Qaeda-linked Turkistan Islamic Party. The exploded weapon depot likely belonged to the terrorist group or persons affiliated with it.

On the same day, the Turkish military established three new ‘observation posts’ around Jisr al-Shughur. They are located at the villages of Baksariya, al-Z’ainiyah and Furaykah. Idlib militants see Turkish positions as an important defense line that would allow containing possible Russia- and Iran-backed anti-terrorist operations in the area.

The 46th Regiment Base of the Syrian Army in western Aleppo came under Turkish artillery shelling. In response, Syrian forces struck position of Turkish-backed militants near Kafr Amma. Oliver Stone: ‘Accurate to Say the U.S. Is Weaponizing’ Coronavirus

Hollywood director and radical left-wing activist Oliver Stone is pushing for the United States to ease sanctions against Iran and Venezuela during the coronavirus pandemic, arguing that the U.S. is “weaponizing the virus” against its adversaries.

At the same time, the two-time Oscar winning director praised the Communist dictatorships of China and Cuba for what he sees as their generosity during the global crisis.

Oliver Stone co-wrote an editorial for the New York Daily News with human rights attorney and peace activist Daniel Kovalik in which they make the stunning claim that the U.S. could be legally responsible for COVID-19 deaths in Iran if Washington fails to loosen sanctions. “It is accurate to say that the U.S. is weaponizing the virus against these countries,” they write.

Venezuela’s Maduro pens open letter to Americans

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has released a letter addressed to the American people urging them to prevent what he calls the madness that drives the government of President Donald Trump.

In the letter, Maduro says Trump seems determined to fulfill his threats of a military invasion against the Latin American country. Maduro stated that the country cannot accept war threats, nor the intention to install an international guardianship that would violate the country’s sovereignty.

The Venezuelan leader also demanded an end to the illegal sanctions and blockade by the US, which have impeded the import of humanitarian goods to fight the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Maduro said Trump must by no means be allowed to "lead the US into another conflict, like in Vietnam, or Iraq."

Webmaster's Commentary:

People in Caracas, including President Maduro, actually believe that Americans will have the opportunity to read this letter, and respond to it intelligently and humanely, asking their government to do the same.

However, unless one reads the English language version of presstv.com; telesurenglish.net; informationclearinghouse.info; thealtworld.com; en.granma.cu; liberationnews.org; telesurtv.net; or, ultimately, WRH, one is not going to know that such an open letter from Maduro's even exists.

IF one looks at Foxnews.com; the latimes.com; or nytimes.com, you will see nothing of this appeal by Maduro; it is as though it never existed.

So I, as an American citizen, who very much cares about her country's future, am compelled to ask the current Trump Administration; please, with regard to both Iran and Venezuela, loosen some of the worst embargo strictures on these pandemic-hit countries, and show yourselves as the international humanitarians you claim to be.

President Trump, I would politely suggest that the world is watching your actions right now, even over and above anything you might say.

Human Rights Watch blasts US refusal to lift Iran sanctions amid coronavirus

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has strongly criticized the United States for its refusal to lift sanctions on Iran amid the new coronavirus outbreak.

The report was published by the New York-based organization on Monday asserted that international law obliges any country imposing sanctions on another to “consider the impact on the human rights of the affected population, especially regarding their access to goods essential to life, including medicines and food.”

The broad bans “are negatively affecting the Iranian government’s ability to adequately respond to the mounting health consequences of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” said the HRW.

Iran unveils indigenously-developed smart technology capable of diagnosing infection with the new coronavirus with the help of artificial intelligence and use of CT scan.

The technology produced by experts at Iranian science-based enterprises was wheeled in, in the presence of Iran’s Deputy President for Science and Technology, Sourena Sattari, Fars News Agency reported on Saturday.

“A number of the companies managed to introduce a new method for diagnosing coronavirus’ [infection] by resorting to artificial intelligence,” he said, describing the innovation.

Netanyahu shares part of TV series as proof of Iran coronavirus deaths cover-up: Report

The American Axios news website on Wednesday cited two unnamed Israeli ministers as saying that Netanyahu had told his cabinet via a recent conference call that he had seen the footage of Iranian soldiers loading bodies onto trucks and dropping them at garbage dumps.

The Israeli premier, they added, also claimed that his security adviser, Meir Ben-Shabbat, had initially shown him the video.

Netanyahu asked Ben-Shabbet to send the clip to those ministers who wanted to see it.

According to the report, the video had been shared on social media and passed on to Netanyahu without any authenticity check.

Upon further review, however, the clip turned out to be a scene from ‘Pandemic,’ a 2007 Hallmark TV mini-series about a fictional flu pandemic that originates in Australia and eventually threatens Los Angeles.

One scene in the series depicts a garbage truck dumping dead bodies into a ditch.

In a time of pandemic, the US prepares for war – but Iran’s weakness is grossly exaggerated

The US prepares for confrontation with Iranian-backed militias in Iraq while Iran struggles to cope with the consequences of the coronavirus inside its borders. This looks like a good time for Americans to strike – but it isn’t.

The US military is engaged in a strategic redeployment of forces inside Iraq, including the deployment of surface-to-air missiles whose only logical purpose was to defend against an Iranian ballistic missile threat. This movement of forces has reinforced concerns that some in the Trump administration might seek to exploit Iran’s perceived weakness brought about by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The reality, however, is far different: Iran is prepared to defend itself using the totality of its defense resources. Any US move against Iran would be a miscalculation with devastating results.

Iranian Muslims May Be Creating COVID-19 ‘Super-Spreaders’ Through Pilgrimages

Authorities in Iran closed the city shrines on March 16, sparking protests by Islamic faithful and some clerics at the shrines, including at the Fatima Masumeh Shrine in Qom, according to Time.

Despite the purported closures, Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad tweeted a video Monday allegedly showing tour buses and pilgrims on foot are still headed toward one of the city’s holy sites.

“Iranian authorities are creating #CoronaVirus super-spreaders,” Alinejad wrote.

Pompeo: US May Ease Iran Sanctions to Fight Coronavirus

In a substantial break from previous policy statements, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters on Tuesday that the US may ease sanctions against Iran in the days to come. US officials, and Pompeo in particular, had been denying that this was the case all month.

Iran brought this up as a major need for fighting coronavirus, saying sanction easing is one real way to help them. The US went so far in rejecting this as to even declare at one point that coronavirus wouldn’t help Iran “escape” from sanctions.

Trump had issued one statement suggesting the US was willing to help Iran, but at the time it appeared to be in any way other than sanctions relief. Interestingly, over the past week it was reported the US had issued waivers allowing Iran to buy medicine and equipment, though they denied it at the time.

Trump says Iran planning 'sneak attack' on US troops, assets in Iraq

President Trump said Wednesday that Iran is planning a "sneak attack" on U.S. troops or "assets" in Iraq, warning the country will pay a "heavy price" if this happens.

The president made the abrupt announcement in a tweet Wednesday afternoon, coming amid lingering tensions between the two countries over past confrontations as well as the coronavirus pandemic.

Is US readying itself to re-invade and occupy Iraq?

By Robert Inlakesh

In the wake of the great escalation of January 2020, ultimately resulting in the retreat of United States forces, situated across Iraq, down to a few key bases around Baghdad that now come under regular rocket attack by local anti-occupation resistance groups, American strategic planners are confronted with only two choices: leave Iraq or launch a full-scale shock attack operation in the country's west and subsequent occupation of the area to regain the strategic initiative.

The US finds itself in its current position in Iraq, for the first time since the North Korean army invasion of South Korea in 1950 - an event which nearly threw American troops, at Pusan, into the sea and forced them to fight a protracted defense.

For a military force whose historical doctrine has been to 'attack, attack, attack', America’s current position in Iraq is terribly awkward and uncharacteristic of the usual predicament of total superiority it generally finds itself in.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Inlakesh puts together a brilliant, and thoughtful, scenario here; but there is a question which remains unasked in this article: should the US do this,
what will Russia do, in light of the fact that one of its chief politicians, told his Iranian counterpart last summer, that if Iran is attacked by the US, it will not stand alone.

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

This came out in the English language edition of the Moscow times on 26 June, 2019; why do I seem to be the only person still standing who remembers this being said?!??

This.... is literally the 5,000 lb polar bear, lounging on the Bosendorfer Baby Grand, on this issue.

But there is one thing that Inlakesh got absolutely correctly; this has to happen before the US end of the Covid-19 shut-down, which is, at this moment, is set for Friday, 1 May, 2020; this gives the Federal Government 30 days to either retreat entirely from Iraq, or use it, and Saudi Arabia, as the bases from which to ultimately attack Iran.

I am an American who cares greatly about this country, and the future trajectory of both its domestic and foreign policies. I care greatly about our men and women in uniform, so I am respectfully asking the civilian government in the US to use both restraint, and wisdom, in their deployment here.

A war with Russia over Iran?!?

There is nothing Israel's Netanyahu would love to see happen more than this.

But if there were any possible scenario which could create at something perceivedly good for Israel, but which would be card-carryingly horrible for We the People, I can hardly think of a worse one than this one could create.

And before I end this post, Mr. President, would you please have someone break the following down for you, in digestible format, and that would be the following.

'But Sir, It’s an American Ship.' 'Never Mind, Hit Her!' When Israel Attacked USS Liberty

Mr. President, with "friends" like this......?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm just saying.

US Deploys Patriot Missiles in Iraq Bases Hosting US Troops

Recent US fighting with Iraqi militias has seen bases in the country hosting US troops coming under rocket fire, and this has led to the US trying to get more Patriot missiles into Iraq to intercept such rockets. The first missile systems are now set up, at Ayn al-Assad base, and in Irbil.

The US appears to be trying to move away from having troops scattered around Iraq, closing multiple bases in the west, and reportedly has missiles in Kuwait ready to be sent to two more US bases inside Iraq in the days to come.

Details on the diplomacy with Iraq on these deployments are unclear. The US has talked about wanting the missiles in Iraq since January, but it has never been confirmed that Iraq signed off on such deployment. Since the deployment is roughly intended to thwart attacks by Iraqi paramilitaries who are essentially part of Iraq’s security forces, this is potentially problematic for Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One wonders, with all the Covid-19 "smoke screens" going on in this country, if this generally ignored deployment is intended to start a land war with Iran, even though it is reeling from its own issues with Covid 19.

US sanctions on life-saving drugs are leading Iran into a ‘humanitarian catastrophe’ as pandemic rages – Zarif

US sanctions make it “impossible” for regular Iranians to have access to essential drugs during the Covid-19 pandemic, the republic’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said.

“The illegal blockade of Iran’s financial resources by the sweeping US sanctions makes access to drugs and medical equipment impossible,” Zarif wrote, in an op-ed titled “Fight the virus, not us” published by Russian business newspaper Kommersant on Monday.

“This is leading to a humanitarian catastrophe,” the diplomat warned, noting that Washington’s campaign of ‘maximum pressure’ on Tehran undermines the Islamic republic’s efforts in treating Covid-19 patients and slowing down the spread of the deadly virus.

It Is A Time Of Crisis And U.S. Foreign Policy Is Becoming Unhinged

March 28, 2020 "Information Clearing House" - The Trump administration is reacting to the pandemic stress by lashing out at perceived internal and external enemies. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is leading the external onslaught.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for an "immediate global ceasefire" to focus on fighting Covid-19. He has appealed for the "waiving of sanctions that can undermine countries' capacity to respond to the pandemic."

But Washington is not listening.

Requests from Venezuela and Iran for emergency IMF loans to buy medical supplies were blocked by U.S. interventions.

Just a month ago Pompeo announced an increase of sanctions against Iran. The sanctions block money transfers. They make it impossible for Iran to import the medical equipment it urgently needs to counter the epidemic.

US Repositions Troops in Iraq, Preparing for Fight Against Iran

Initially announced weeks ago, the US withdrawal of troops from western Iraq and concentration in the east looks more and more like preparation for another confrontation with neighboring Iran. Recent reports suggest that is one policy being advocated.

On Friday, reports suggested that the Pentagon had been ordered, by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to start planning to wipe out certain Iraqi militias which they believe are Iranian proxies. Officials say the administration is increasingly divided on the plan.

Lt. Gen. Robert White was very averse to this idea, saying it would require the US bring in thousands of more troops, and divert from existing missions. He also warned it risks starting a war with Iran, which at least some of the proponents consider very much the point.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please!!!

Just a thought, sir; what will the optics look like in November if we wage a full-fledged war against Iran, a war in which Russia has already promised to participate on Iran's side?!?

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

Your problem with your perspective on Iran is, that you can only see its geopolitics through the rather jaundiced and horrifically prejudicial, "vision" of one of your BFFs in the Middle East, specifically, that of one Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu.

And Mr. President, please don't think for a millisecond, that there are not elements of the Israeli government which are, as I type this, conjuring up all kinds of scenarios as the "perfect false flag" with which to "sucker in" the American government to fight Iran, and consequently, Russia.

And sir, if you doubt me for even a second, please re-acquaint yourself with the real history of the USS Liberty incident in 1967:

'But Sir, It’s an American Ship.' 'Never Mind, Hit Her!' When Israel Attacked USS Liberty

Pentagon Orders CENTCOM to Draw Up Plans to “Destroy” a Section of the Iraqi Armed Forces

The military not enthusiastic about Pompe’s idea but Trump gives the planning the go-ahead nonetheless

The Pentagon has ordered military commanders to plan for an escalation of American combat in Iraq, issuing a directive last week to prepare a campaign to destroy an Iranian-backed militia group that has threatened more attacks against American troops.

But the United States’ top commander in Iraq has warned that such a campaign could be bloody and counterproductive and risks war with Iran.

US plans to build new base in western Iraq for Patriot missile system deployment: Source

An Iraqi security source says the US military intends to construct a new military base in the country’s western province of al-Anbar for the deployment of Patriot missile systems.

“US forces intend to establish a new base in Umm Samij area north of al-Baghdadi district in the city of Hit in order to deploy a Patriot anti-missile system, and protect Ain al-Assad air base as well as other locations in western regions against possible attacks,” the unnamed source told Iraq’s Arabic-language al-Ahad news agency on Monday.

He noted, “Identification of a location for the deployment of the Patriot missile system is the first of its kind in Iraq. Such measures are indicative of US forces’ intention to stay in their bases in the western regions of Iraq for a long period of time.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF in fact this report is true, (and presstv.com generally "nails and vets" its information before it is published), it is correct in its assessment that it does not appear that the US government is planning to leave Iraq soon; in fact, such a base of operation might well be established as a "forward operation base" from which to attack Iran directly, should that be the thinking in DC.

I do not know how long it takes to build a military base in a foreign country; but after the Covid 19 has peaked in Iran, one may well see some kind of US military action against it, and perhaps sooner than later, to demonstrate that the current administration is "doing something" against Iran before November's election; if, in fact, the US election IS held in November of this year.

Iranian Army’s air defense warns off intruding F-18 fighter jet in south country

A recently released video shows how the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force warns off an intruding F-18 fighter jet several times in southern Iran, forcing it to leave the country's airspace immediately.

The video, released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), dates back to the first day of the Iranian New Year (started on March 20) and shows Iranian Army's Air Defense Force warning the intruding fighter jet, whose nationality has not been revealed, to get away from the country's border after it approached the Iranian airspace on Friday, Tasnim news agency reported.

The Iranian forces warned the fighter jet that if it maintained its course toward Iran's airspace, it would be targeted by the country's air defense missiles.

Trump Nixed Calls For Large-Scale Attack On Iranian Proxies, Citing Covid-19

In what appears the first significant US foreign policy alteration due to the coronavirus pandemic, President Trump reportedly nixed plans for a large-scale attack on "Iranian proxies" in Iraq last week amid a tit-for-tat following rocket attacks on a US base there, which killed two Americans.

The Commander-in-Chief specifically cited coronavirus as reason for holding off on such a major attack, which would surely bog American forces down further in an ongoing battle against Iran inside neighboring Iraq, which Washington fears has long come under the control of the Shia clerics in Tehran. More importantly, the president thought it would "look bad" at the moment of a global pandemic.

Iran is facing an existential crisis, brought on by a combination of economic, political and social emergencies which, when combined, threaten to bring the nation to its knees. The United States has, over the years, sought to destabilize Iran in hopes that it would collapse from within, clearing the way for a new pro-Western government. The current ‘maximum pressure’ campaign, built around stringent economic sanctions targeting virtually every aspect of the Iranian economy, is designed to not only bring Iran to the negotiating table, but to drive its leadership from power.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the Us government could possibly do, is utterly no guarantee that it will not do just that thing; the current policy on Iran, is demonstration of that, in spades.

Trump Refrained From Ordering Tougher Response to Attacks on Iraqi Bases Due to Coronavirus

Last week, the US military confirmed that they had staged “defensive precision strikes” on weapons storage facilities of the Iraqi Shia paramilitary group Kataib Hezbollah in retaliation for the group’s previous attack on the Camp Taji military base in Iraq that killed at least two American servicemen.

NBC News has cited several unnamed US sources as saying on Thursday that the coronavirus pandemic prompted President Donald Trump last week to refrain from ordering a more aggressive response to an Iraqi paramilitary group’s recent attack on American troops in Iraq. The US sees Kataib Hezbollah as an Iranian proxy.

According to the sources, Trump told his senior national security advisers that such a retaliation could tarnish the US’s image now that Iran is grappling with COVID-19, which has already claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people in the Islamic Republic.

Pompeo and Netanyahu Paved a Path to War With Iran, and They’re Pushing Trump Again

by Gareth Porter Posted on March 21, 2020

The administration of President Donald Trump may escape the most recent conflict with Iran without war, however, a dangerous escalation is just over the horizon. And as before, the key factors driving the belligerence are not outraged Iraqi militia leaders or their allies in Iran, but Trump’s secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long sought to draw the US into a military confrontation with Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this push for war with Iran, under Trump's watch, will not end well.

Even though Iran is reeling from the effects of an horrific Covid 19 epidemic, not one single US-engineered sanction will be lifted, to speed the delivery of desperately needed drugs, food, and aid for this beleaguered country.

Right now, President Trump isn't looking at any attack on Iran's alleged "proxies" in Iran, because the optics would be awful; that, of course, is no guarantee that the Israeli intelligence, or military, hasn't got several "false flags" up their collective sleeves, to be "green lit" at the moment when Netanyahu needs "maximum coverage and distraction" away from his corruption trials, which began last Tuesday, 17 March Court Denies Request for Delays in Netanyahu's Corruption Trials

Netanyahu desperately needs a distraction here, and damned quickly; what better "distraction" than an alleged "Iranian attack" against either Israeli or US assets in the Middle East, to which President Trump would be "obligated to respond"?!?

But I would, very politely, like to mention (again) to all Foggy Bottomites (and their underlings, occasionally "cursed" with having to read this blog) that last Summer at a gathering in Moscow, a Moscow politician assured his Iranian counterparts that should Iran be attacked, it "would not be alone."
Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

You can bet your sweet bippie, that Kabulov would never have made that statement, unless he had full, and completely supported, support from Putin to say it.

War with Russia over Iran?!?

Folks, please think about this; because the next time the Unhinged, Surveilled, State of Amerika re-introduces a draft, it will be not only becoming for your your sons, but also your daughters as well.

U.S. to Iran: Coronavirus won't save you from sanctions

WASHINGTON/DUBAI (Reuters) - The United States sent Iran a blunt message this week: the spread of the coronavirus will not save it from U.S. sanctions that are choking off its oil revenues and isolating its economy.

Iran is the Middle Eastern nation worst hit by coronavirus, with its death toll climbing to 1,284 and one person dying from it every 10 minutes and 50 becoming infected every hour, the health ministry said.

The United States, which argues that its “maximum pressure” campaign to curb Iran’s nuclear, missile and regional activities does not stop the flow of humanitarian goods, imposed new sanctions this week.

The Trump administration blacklisted five companies based in the United Arab Emirates, three in mainland China, three in Hong Kong and one in South Africa for trade in Iran’s petrochemicals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These US economic sanctions are deliberately being engineered, designed, and executed in order to wreak the maximum amount of havoc on innocent Iranians.

ESCOBAR: CHINA LOCKED IN HYBRID WAR WITH US

SOURCE: PEPE ESCOBAR VIA THE ASIA TIME
Fallout from Covid-19 outbreak puts Beijing and Washington on a collision course...

Among the myriad, earth-shattering geopolitical effects of coronavirus, one is already graphically evident. China has re-positioned itself. For the first time since the start of Deng Xiaoping’s reforms in 1978, Beijing openly regards the US as a threat, as stated a month ago by Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference during the peak of the fight against coronavirus.

Beijing is carefully, incrementally shaping the narrative that, from the beginning of the coronovirus attack, the leadership knew it was under a hybrid war attack. Xi’s terminology is a major clue. He said, on the record, that this was war. And, as a counter-attack, a “people’s war” had to be launched.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Coincidence", when it comes to geopolitics, is something which rarely exists; it is only reasonable, at this point, to demand answers from those who are, intractably, refusing to offer them.

And there is a scarily-worthy companion piece worthy of linking to here, coming to us from defensenews.com:

Esper’s dark vision for US-China conflict makes war more likely

The article goes on to state: "American troops who have seen three, four, even five or more deployments to the Middle East may finally be able to come home — or not. If Esper’s grim vision becomes reality, they may soon be fighting China instead, embarking on a new and far larger conflict that would make Afghanistan look like child’s play, put U.S. security in unnecessary danger and plunge the world into lasting turmoil.

“I would like to [reduce troop levels in Afghanistan] because what I want to do is reallocate forces to” the Asia-Pacific region, Esper said while the U.S.-Taliban agreement was under negotiation. “All of these places where I can free up troops where I could either bring them home to allow them to rest and refit and retrain or/and then reallocate them [to the Asia-Pacific region] to compete with the Chinese, to reassure our allies, to conduct exercises and training.”

The defense secretary also has been conducting a “blank slate review” of U.S. force levels in Africa to the same end, “predominantly to reduce presence” there, he said, so the Pentagon can train its sights on China. And the Air Force described a flight by a nuclear-capable B-52 bomber over Somalia in February as, in part, a warning to China of engagement to come."

And as a final warning, about the currently existing, and escalating, war against China, we have statements from the British journalist, John Pilger, who made the following tweet, prompting a storm of criticism:

"A pandemic is declared, but not for 24,600 dead every day from unnecessary starvation, or 3,000 children dead every day from preventable malaria, or the countless daily dead from America's blockade on Venezuela and Iran and its bombs on Yemen. Before you panic consider them."

US imposes fresh sanctions on Iran amid coronavirus outbreak

The United States has announced a new round of sanctions against Iran as part of its so-called "maximum pressure" campaign against the Islamic Republic.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that Washington had blacklisted three Iranian entities for engaging in what he called “significant transactions” to trade in Iranian petrochemicals.

While he did not name any firms or individuals, Pompeo said the measure included blacklisting Iran’s armed forces social security investment company and its director for investing in the sanctioned entities.

Iran ‘Will Continue to Respond’ to Soleimani’s Murder as Iraqi Militia Rockets Rain Down on US Bases

The US assassinated Qasem Soleimani, long-time commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force military unit, in January, prompting Iran to launch a massed rocket strike on a pair of US bases in Iraq, and leading Iraq-based militias to carry out sporadic strikes on American bases and the US Embassy Green Zone in Baghdad.

Iran will continue to respond to the January 3 assassination of Commander Soleimani, President Hassan Rouhani has warned, one day after a coalition base holding NATO troops came under rocket fire.

“The Americans assassinated our great commander. We have responded to that terrorist act and will respond to it,” Rouhani said in a televised address Wednesday.

More than Just a Virus

As we are all collectively, as One Universe, experiencing the potential of a coronavirus infection, we have been assured that the outbreak originated in a fish market in Wuhan, China’s eighth largest city with a population of 11 million. That is the largely unchallenged conclusion since China is well known for its extensive network of high tech labs and since the SARS virus began in China last year.

At first glance, it seems a passing curiosity that the next two most extensively affected countries with corona infections, each disparate from China and each other, have extensive trade relations with China. In defiance of science, why would Italy be the most infected country outside of China?

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am presenting this article for its FWIW (for what it's worth) factor; but the hype, vs/ the reality here, if in fact COVID-19 was bio-engineered as a weapon, cannot be ignored, and for precisely the same reasons Renee Parsons articulates in this article.

Iraq envoy to UN threatens arrest of US troops for attacks on pro-Iran militias

Iraq’s envoy to the UN threatened on Tuesday to arrest US troops in the country for carrying out air strikes on Iranian-backed Iraqi militias in the country amid rising tensions between US troops and pro-Iranian groups.

The US “perpetrators will be arrested and held accountable” for the attacks on the Iraqi militias last week, said Iraq’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Uloom in a draft letter seen by Al Arabiya English.

Iran supports militias in Iraq operating under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). The US has designated some of the PMU militias, including Katai'b Hezbollah, as terrorist organizations and increasingly come into conflict with them as the US and Iran compete for influence in Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let me ask; did you see this headline in any Corporate Presstitute outlet, yesterday, or today?!?

Would you not think that this would be a story of extreme interest to the American people, particularly since it was spelled out at the UN, in New York?!?

Folks, the situation in Iraq is in intense melt-down, and although the current Iraqi government is doing their best to get occupying US and NATO forces out of the country, and trying to do it the "honorable way" (i.e., raising holy hell at the UN, as they did yesterday), they are not going to be successful in this endeavor.

Look for more Guerrilla fighting, particularly by Shia-aligned forces, against US and NATO troops.

And folks, here is my bet; the fighters are most probably not Iranian nationals; they are most probably Iraqis Shias, who simply want their country back from US/NATO control; and the question I have to ask, nearly 17 years after the original attack (March 20, 2003) and occupation of Iraq by the US, can we really, honestly blame them?!?

Mar 18 07:45

Rockets Hit Iraq Base Housing US Troops South of Baghdad

Details are still emerging, but this was much fewer rockets than previous strikes, and so far there has been no word of any casualties in the incident. The US has threatened retaliation for further attacks, but no such strikes were yet reported.

Both sides have been hitting one another recently and talking up escalation. That this was a much smaller, casualty-free attack may suggest that the militias are trying to save face but not escalate the matter any further.

This would depend heavily on the US not looking to escalate further either, however, and all indications out of the administration are that they consider the Iraqi militias to be “Iranian proxies,” and are very keen to keep picking fights with them.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As Americans are well and truly distracted (and to some reasonable degree, should be) with Covid-19; hand sanitizers; and bathroom tissue, the folks in Foggy Bottom which brought you the original Iraq War, are most probably about to bring you the Iraq/Iran War 2.0, complete with very probable Russian military assistance to the Iranians.

Madness, you say?!? Absolute madness, writ large, dear readers, particularly
when a Russian Official, meeting with some Iranian counterparts in a Moscow conference last Summer, assured them that if Iran was attacked, "it would not stand alone."

Iran Won't Be Alone, if the US Attacks. The article, from last June's Moscow Times, English Language Edition, goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

Readers, career politicians like Kabulov do not even FART without Putin's approval; and this statement was just as much for American consumption as for the Iranian delegates attending; unfortunately, DC's lethal combination of a collective "tin ear", and general hubris, in light of the fact that the US has, ultimately, lost every war it has started since Vietnam, is not helping the situation.

Oh, and BTW, who, really, "won" the war in Iraq?!?

In short form, China. And why do I say this?!?

Take a look at the following headline, and see for yourself: Iraq signs contract with Chinese oil company to complete 80 wells in Iraq

You are probably looking at this headline, dated September 7th, 1999, foaming at the mouth, fulminating, and thinking, "why the hell were the American people not told about this?!?" It is simple; the Trump Administration didn't want you to know, so the story was suppressed in most English language papers.

Here are other articles about this, primarily from the foreign press, in English:

Iraq, China launch 'oil for reconstruction' agreement

OH, and WAIT: there's more from Reuters:

CORRECTED-China's CPECC wins $121 mln West Qurna-1 contract from Iraq

The US government is DESPERATE to prevent China from starting this development deal, so what are they going to do?!? They are going to create a situation so dangerous for the Chinese, that the risk/benefit ratio will make it "too difficult" for China to move ahead with this.

So, how will they do this?!?

By declaring "Iraq War 2.0", of course; unlike China, which very much likes to create deals to get what they want, the Foggy Bottomites will most likely declare a "national emergency", leading to yet more military conflict in Iraq, and potentially against Iran itself, from Iraq, no matter how much the Iraqi government protests, or the costs to the Iraqi and/or Iranian people.

Pakistan Calls on US to End Iran Sanctions to Confront Virus

Pakistan’s prime minister said Monday he fears the new coronavirus will devastate the economies of developing nations, and warned richer economies to prepare to write off the debts of the world’s poorer countries.

n an interview with The Associated Press, Imran Khan criticized recent comments by the president of neighboring Afghanistan, which appeared to reference accusations that Pakistan used militants to further its own goals in years past.

Khan also raised concern over India’s worst Hindu-Muslim violence in decades, saying the Indian prime minister’s Hindu nationalist-led government threatens to disenfranchise hundreds of millions of people through a controversial new citizenship law.

He further called for lifting sanctions against Iran, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the Middle East.

Video: US Navy Tests AC-130 Gunship Against Sea Targets Off Iran’s Coast

In its latest display of force, the US Navy conducted a live-fire drill off Iran’s coast in which AC-130 gunships practiced blasting away small patrol vessels like those used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

During the drills on March 8 and 9, a US Navy P-8A Poseidon naval patrol aircraft coordinated attacks by AC-130 gunships for the first time against simulated small, hostile ships. The aircraft is typically used to pound land targets and has seen heavy action in the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.

Geopolitical Genius Donald J. Has Backed Saudi Arabia’s MBS to the Hilt Only to Get a Price War on US Shale in Return

Donald Trump made one of the biggest mistakes of his presidency in the spring of 2017, when he offered an unconditional embrace to the then-emerging 31-year-old ruler of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and adopted his agenda of aggressively confronting Iran. Three years later, as Trump grapples with the greatest crisis he has faced, that choice is costing him dearly.

As Coronvirus Grips the US, Americans Get a Taste of Life Under Sanctions

The crippling shortages, inability to move and the likely overwhelming of medical services will give Americans a taste of what it is like to live under sanctions that it imposes on a number of countries worldwide. U.S. sanctions on Venezuela, declared illegal and a “crime against humanity” by the United Nations, are conservatively estimated to have killed more than 40,000 people between 2017 and 2018 alone. Diabetics, for example, have been unable to get insulin because of the embargo, leading to mass deaths. The Cuban government estimates that the American embargo has cost it over $750 billion. Meanwhile, Iran, wracked by the virus that has caused more than 850 confirmed deaths, has been decimated by Trump’s increased sanctions.

The Coronavirus and the New World Order:“War is in the Air”"Time is out of joint..." – "Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark". William Shakespeare from his tragedy Hamlet

The worldwide fear of a hitherto unknown but supposedly highly contagious and weapons-grade virus means that many people feel paralysed, public life in several states is crippled by governments, at the same time fundamental civil liberties are “honed” or severely restricted and also the military is brought into readiness. What is going on here?

The former Soviet head of state Mikhail Gorbachev recently described the current political situation as extremely worrying. According to “Sputnik News” of 12.03.20 he wrote: “War is in the air.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

BUMP TO THE TOP

What concerns me most gravely right now, are statements from the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, regarding alleged "Iranian Paramilitary Activity", hitting the US's crumbling military stance in Iraq right now, where both the Iraqi people, and military, are demanding that the US military leave the country, and right the hell now.

We found this "little gem" in rt.com, their English language edition, yesterday: US will act in ‘self-defense’ if attacked in Iraq – Pompeo

The article went on to state: "Washington will act in “self-defense” in Iraq if its military comes under attack, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said. US bases in Iraq have been repeatedly shelled recently and several servicemen have been killed and injured.

Pompeo told Iraqi PM Adil Abd al-Mahdi that Baghdad “must defend Coalition personnel supporting the Iraqi government's efforts to defeat ISIS,” the US Department of State said in a statement on Monday.

Those “responsible for the attacks must be held accountable,” the official warned, adding that Washington “will not tolerate attacks and threats to American lives” and will take “action as necessary in self-defense."

And right below that, we see the following headline: "Baghdad Summons US and British Envoys after condemning their strikes on Iraqi Targets as "violation of Sovereignty". The article goes on to state:

"Over the past week the US Camp Taji base, located north of Iraq’s capital, came under rocket shelling twice. On Wednesday, three soldiers, two from the US and one from the UK, were killed at the installation, while a dozen others were injured. Iraqi military personnel were affected by the attack as well.

While no one claimed responsibility for the deadly shelling, Washington was quick to blame Iraqi Shia militias for it and launched “retaliatory” airstrikes on them. Since said militias are an integral part of the Iraqi military, the US basically bombed its own allies, killing at least six servicemen and wounding several more."

So I have to ask; under what possible geopolitical circumstance, could this possibly make sense, in Pompeo's weltanschauung?!?

The answer becomes frighteningly real, from an except of the following article last year, in an interview Pompeo did, where he made the following statements, as recorded by bbcnews.com:;
Pompeo says God may have sent Trump to save Israel from Iran
The article goes on to state:

"US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said it is "possible" that President Donald Trump was sent by God to save Israel from Iran.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network during a high-profile trip to Israel, he said it was his faith that made him believe that.

He also praised US efforts to "make sure that this democracy in the Middle East, that this Jewish state, remains".

The comments came on a Jewish holiday celebrating rescue from genocide.

The holiday, Purim, commemorates the biblical rescue of the Jewish people by Queen Esther from the Persians, as the interviewer noted to Mr Pompeo.

What did Pompeo say?

He was asked if "President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from an Iranian menace".

"As a Christian, I certainly believe that's possible," said Mr Pompeo, a former member of Congress for Kansas and CIA director.

"I am confident that the Lord is at work here," he added."

OK, there you have it folks; to energize their evangelical base, a "faith-based" foreign policy has been put into play, which consistently demonizes Iran, and consistently characterises Israel as "the innocent party", in geopolitical affairs when most of the time, nothing could be further from the truth.

There's a phrase in DC, the originator of which I cannot recall at the moment, but it goes something like this; "Never let a good crisis go to waste"; now having said that, Covid 19, and its monumental spread, does comprise a health crisis of huge concern.

But please also note, today, in RT, there is a very serious article at the top of the blog with the following headline: US halts deployment & recalls troops from NATO’s biggest drill ‘Defender Europe 2020’ due to coronavirus threat

Sounds good, and reasonable, on the surface, doesn't it?!?

But what if there are other deployments to come for these military personnel, which may well not be announced beforehand?!?

I would like to politely speculate that these battles in Iraq against alleged "Iranian militia" at US Camp Taji base, and beyond, may well be only the "beginning here; the US government is flailing, in both Iraq, and in its Covid 19 response, and President Trump well knows that a combination of the wall-street melt-down with a "too-little too late" response to the pandemic, will most likely result in his 2020 candidacy going up in absolute flames, unless he "does something dramatic."

So please, do not bet that a war against Iran, and ultimately against Russia, which has declared their support for Iran should the US attack it (and publicly: Iran won't be alone if the US attacks it, says Russian official), is off the table for these people, particularly for Pompeo.

US On Brink Of War In Iraq - "Self Defense" Strikes Against Iranian Proxies On Table: Pompeo

What a time for war to be brewing in the Middle East yet again: Washington warned Iraq's government on Monday it is ready to act “self-defense” if American forces come under attack. This follows last week's rocket attacks on Taji base just north of Baghdad, which houses US troops. At least two Americans have been killed in the recent attacks, blamed on Iran-backed militias, especially Kataib Hezbollah.

Pompeo told Iraqi PM Adil Abd al-Mahdi in a phone call that Baghdad “must defend Coalition personnel supporting the Iraqi government's efforts to defeat ISIS,” according to a Monday State Dept. press release.

Those “responsible for the attacks must be held accountable,” the statement warned. The US “will not tolerate attacks and threats to American lives” and will take “military action as necessary in self-defense,” it added.

US General Claims Iran Threat ‘Remains Very High’

Earlier this week, US officials were justifying redeployments out of the Middle East, arguing Iran was no longer the threat they once were because of coronavirus. But a night of US attacks against Iraqi targets has US officials again convinced Iran is a threat.

Centcom commander Gen. Frank McKenzie praised the many US attacks in Iraq as successful, while saying the threat posed by Iran “remains very high,” suggesting the attacks were sending them a signal.

Washington Post hypes fake news on coronavirus ‘burial pits’ in Iran

The Washington Post has turned to publishing fake news about Iran’s response to the coronavirus outbreak, claiming that Iran has dug mass "burial pits" for victims of the disease and was covering the true number of deaths.

As countries across the world grapple with the COVID-19 outbreak, Iran’s struggle to contain the deadly disease has attracted more than usual attention from mainstream outlets in certain countries.

Despite numerous statements from World Health Organization officials praising Iran’s efforts against the outbreak, certain outlets have focused on erringly similar themes regarding Iran; that the country is in chaos, is mishandling the outbreak and that it’s “putting other countries at risk”.

Iran summons Swiss envoy to protest Trump’s 'baseless' Iraq remarks

Iran has summoned the Swiss envoy, whose country represents US interests in Tehran, to protest US President Donald Trump’s accusations blaming Iran for an attack on occupying American forces in Iraq.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said Saturday that Markus Leitner was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry a day earlier to be informed of Iran’s “severe protest” over the remarks.

Mousavi said Washington’s destructive policies and its role in current tensions were discussed during the meeting where Iran warned the Americans against any “unwise” actions.

“Trump can’t deny his responsibility by making such baseless and dangerous accusations” against Iran, he added.

US lying about how bans are affecting Iran’s access to medicine: Minister

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has lashed out at the United States for claims that Tehran’s import of medicine and other humanitarian goods are exempt from Washington's unilateral sanctions, calling such claims “a very big lie”.

Zanganeh told Bloomberg in an interview published on Monday that Iran’s hands are tied up when it comes to buying medicines and food from abroad because the American sanctions have hampered the country’s oil sale as the main source of revenue for the government.

“It's a very big lie,” said Zanganeh, adding, “Do they think that we have billions of dollars in deposit in the international bank to come into us to use that money for buying the food and medicines.”

US Goes After Iran’s Floating Oil Storage

Washington has plans to issue warnings to oil shippers, insurers, and port authorities that storing Iranian crude oil will bring the wrath of US sanctions, a US State Department official said on Monday, according to Reuters.

The US will target those who store Iranian oil or oil products in violation of current sanctions, “no matter where they are” David Peyman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Counter Threat Finance and Sanctions, said in a statement.

The US is also looking to ship captains to obtain and submit to US authorities photo evidence of anyone engaged in the practice of ship-to-ship transfers of Iranian oil,

Iran's coronavirus death toll rises by 21 to reach 145 including second politician to die from the infection while 'force' is threatened to stop people travelling between cities and streets are disinfected

The number of deaths caused by coronavirus infections in Iran rose by 21 over the past 24 hours to reach 145 on Saturday, a health ministry official said.

The number of people testing positive for the virus increased by more than 1,000 over the past 24 hours, reaching 5,823 on Saturday, he said in a televised briefing.

The figure comes after Iranian authorities warned yesterday they may use 'force' to limit travel between cities in the hope of containing the virus.

Speaking at a news conference, health ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour did not elaborate on the threat to use force, but acknowledged the virus now was in all of Iran's 31 provinces.

Senior WHO director 'impressed' by Iran’s handling of coronavirus

There are more tha 2 strains of this virus and the one in Iran is different than the ones in China. The Iranian strain has the highest death percentage.

A senior official at the World Health Organization (WHO) says he has been impressed to see how Iran is fighting the spread of a coronavirus that has infected thousands of the people across the country.

Richard Brennan, WHO’s Director of Emergency Operations, said on Sunday that he was specifically satisfied to see efforts to contain coronavirus in Qom, a city some 120 kilometers to the southwest of the capital Tehran where the outbreak of the disease began less than three weeks ago.

“Very impressed by the dedication and hard work of the doctors and nurses and health workers here in Qom,” said Brennan at a briefing with reporters, adding, “The people of Qom should be very proud of their health workers.”

US to Sell Pegasus Tanker Jets to Israel, Allowing Its Fighters to Reach Iran's Territory

The US State Department has greenlit the sale of eight KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft to Israel along with spare parts and supporting equipment for $2.4 billion. If the deal passes the US Congress, Tel Aviv can expect to receive its first jets in 2023.

The State Department also noted that the aerial tankers will not only boost Israel's national security posture, but will also be of great help to the US itself.

"[This sale] supports the foreign policy and national security of the United States by allowing Israel to provide a redundant capability to U.S. assets within the region, potentially freeing US assets for use elsewhere during times of war", the State Department announced.

Coronavirus may be a product of US ‘biological attack’ aimed at Iran & China, IRGC chief claims

The US Could be the prime culprit behind Covid-2019 outbreak that hit China and then Iran, head of its elite Revolutionary Guards claimed, threatening that the virus will eventually be turned against those who unleashed it.

“It is possible that this virus is a product of a biological attack by America which initially spread to China and then to Iran and the rest of the world," Hossein Salami said on Thursday.

He vowed that Iran would "fight" the virus and cautioned that the illness "will return" to the United States, if Washington was indeed responsible for the outbreak.

Iran coronavirus: US sanctions could turn crisis into catastrophe

y all accounts, the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran poses a major existential threat that could overwhelm the healthcare system and other resources to combat the disease, which has been sweeping across the country like a tsunami.

At the same time, it has delivered a significant blow to the legitimacy of coercive US sanctions on Iran, giving them a new air of cruelty unsustainable by any civilisational standard. Unless the US government steps back from its “maximum pressure strategy” - at least for the duration of this epidemic - the sanctions regime is bound to be stigmatised in the world community as an art of dangerous cruelty, rather than a legitimate foreign policy tool.

Zionist elements developed deadlier strain of coronavirus against Iran: Academic

An American academic and analyst has suggested that “Zionist elements” in the US or Israel have exploited the global coronavirus epidemic to create and spread a deadlier strain of the virus in Iran as a form of “biological warfare” against Iranians.

“I believe that what is going on is, under the cloak of the alleged coronavirus epidemic, that biological warfare is being conducted against Iran by Zionist elements who are taking advantage of the situation,” said James Fetzer, a retired professor of philosophy at the University of Minnesota.

“This is why Iran appears to be hit so severely; in other words, the coronavirus is being used as a smokescreen to conceal the fact that the real enemies of Iran are deliberately targeting the Iranian people,” Fetzer told Press TV on Thursday.

They Have the Watches, We Have the Time; US and Iran Hardliners Still Want War

For the US Empire, and those relishing the responsibility for its maintenance and expansion, to include much of corporate media, there can simply not be too much war.

There are hardliners in Iran who want confrontation and war with the US, just as for decades now we have had hardliners in the US start, prolong and sustain war after war, stretching from Western Africa to Pakistan. What we need to do, both Americans and Iranians, is to recognize the dangers within each of our own governments and not do anything to allow these hardliners to feed off each other, escalate crises and deliver the political space needed in both countries for war between the US and Iran to occur.

IRANIAN GENERAL: CORONAVIRUS IS A MANMADE BIO-WEAPON

An Iranian military leader has suggested that the coronavirus is not a naturally occurring disease, and that it is a manmade bioweapon cultivated and released against China and Iran by a ‘hostile state’.

Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, an Iranian officer in charge of the country’s Civil Defense Organization claimed Tuesday that “A study of the consequences of the virus in terms of tolls or the extent of the epidemic and the type of media propaganda over this issue that is aimed at increasing fear and panic among people strengthens the speculations that a biological attack has been launched against China and Iran with economic goals.”

Strongly hinting that the the virus is a bio-attack by the US, Jalali told Iranian Fars News Agency, state media, that he is seeking “laboratorial investigations and comparing the genome of the primary virus and the new genomes” to confirm his theory.

Iran's First Vice President has reportedly contracted coronavirus as the death toll soared to 92 today, exceeding Italy's, with the worsening contagion prompting the regime to cancel Friday prayers.

Tehran announced total infections rose to 2,922 on Wednesday and it was said the country's most senior VP, Eshaq Jahangiri, was the latest high-profile figure to contract the disease.

Iranians were told Friday prayers - deeply significant in the Islamic Republic - were to be cancelled in the capital and in other areas after the death toll became the highest from the virus outside mainland China.

Coronavirus: High Recovery Rates in China. Most Recent Figures

Western media hype: Fear and panic, disruption of the global economy, that makes the headlines.

But not a word is mentioned that the COVID-19 in China is under control, people are being treated in hospitals and they are recovering.

On February 28, China reported 36,157 out of a total of 78,961 reported cases as having recovered.

China has reported (March 1st) a 52.1 percent recovery rate, which signifies that more than half of the patients (confirmed cases) have been discharged from the hospitals. And the Chinese hospitals (which are very strict) will not release them if they are still infected or could transmit the COVID-19 coronavirus.

What this means is that the number of “reported infected cases” in China (80 304) (WHO data, March 3, 2020) has fallen to less than 40,000. But that does not make the headlines.

Assad Joins Forces With Libya’s Hafter to Combat Turkey: East Libya govt will open embassy in Damascus

While recent generations have shown them reluctant to expand far beyond their borders, in the past few months Turkey has shown interest in overseas military engagements. Forces have been active in northern Syria with an eye toward regime change, and Turkey has also committed to military involvement in Libya.

That’s given Turkey two potential enemies to worry about, and given them each a potential new ally. The Syrian government and Libya’s self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) or Gen. Khalifa Haftar have agreed to cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding to confront Turkish aggression.

The LNA’s adjoining government, the eastern-based Tobruk Parliament, has confirmed it will be opening an embassy in Damascus. This will be the first Libyan embassy in Syria since the 2012 NATO-imposed regime change in Libya.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the most significant developments regarding Libya, that you will almost never hear about, courtesy of the Corporate Presstitutes.

A very very curious, but astute, article appeared in mid-January of this year, from fp, and titled: Russia’s Role in the Libyan Civil War Gives It Leverage Over Europe

It then states that "recent joint Russian-Turkish summit in Moscow aimed at forging a cease-fire in Libya broke down after the Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar left without signing the proposed truce agreement. One of Haftar’s main backers is Russia, and his unwillingness to sign on to the deal raises important questions about not only the degree of influence Russia actually has in Libya, but also how serious it is about bringing an end to the conflict.

Russia first rose to prominence in Libya in September 2019 after it deployed mercenaries to the front lines of Tripoli to back Haftar, sparking concern in the United States and Europe that the Kremlin had finally thrown its hat into Libya’s civil war. Its presence in Libya was strikingly reminiscent of the decisive role it played in Syria, where it backed the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to brutal effect and essentially saved the regime from collapse."

but if Syria (and Russia) are bringing force to bear against the current UN/proxy military government in Tripoli, which Erdogan is claiming he is fighting to defend, we have a couple of potential outcomes, both lousy, for US involvement here.

The first is a triumphant Haftar, after taking Tripoli, and the rest of the country, calling for new elections, and throwing the delegitimized UN government out, and the question has to be asked; what is the US government actually willing to do to prevent this, in light of the fact that Russia is siding with Haftar?!?

The second is a prolonged US/NATO-led military against Haftar and the Russians, which could well turn Libya into another US Vietnam, with the same ultimate outcome as this war had.

And what concerns me, is that those in the Bowels of Power in this country appear to be sleepwalking into this trap, just as blissfully as did the US government in World War I.

One of the most brilliant films about war ever to have been made, is the 2nd Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law film about Sherlock Holmes; the title is "A Game of Shadows", and if you have not seen it, I urge you to do so, because it talks in very plain language, about just how regional wars like this get fanned, until they become world wars; this is the potential impact of Al Assad throwing his geopolitical fortunes with Russia, in supporting Haftar in Libya.

Iran Coronavirus Outbreak: Thousands Infected, Over 650 Dead, yet No Action by the Regime

After days of denial and downplaying the Coronavirus outbreak in Iran, the regime’s Deputy Health Minister Ghasem Janbabaei admitted in an interview on state TV that “over 12,000 people have been hospitalized after being diagnosed with the coronavirus and this is only 20 percent of the individuals who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.”

“Less than 20 percent of individuals testing positive for the coronavirus actually enter hospitals. Some 80 percent of individuals who are infected with the coronavirus either have slight symptoms or their conditions allow them to remain at home,” Janbabei said.

Yet, regime continues its campaign of downplaying the casualties of this deadly virus.

BBC Publishes Leaked Iran Footage Showing Bagged Bodies Of Covid-19 Victims Piling Up

More shocking leaked footage published by the BBC shows bodies piling up at a local morgue in Qom, said to be victims of the country's spiraling coronavirus outbreak. Located 140km to the south of Tehran, Qom is believed ground zero for Iran's epidemic, and crucially is a popular place of Shia religious pilgrimage.

Mideast-based correspondent Joyce Karam comments of the newly published video: "If these are confirmed to be from Corona as videos claim, death toll is higher than the government claims (officially at 77)."

Envoy Denounces Use of Coronavirus as Political Weapon against Iran

Iranian Ambassador to Paris Bahram Qassemi lashed out at some countries which are pouncing on the outbreak of a novel coronavirus to achieve their political objectives, stressing that such an opportunistic approach is tantamount to committing crimes.

“Those who take advantage of people’s lives and turn the coronavirus into a political weapon against Iran are criminals,” Qassemi wrote on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

“The fight against the coronavirus is not limited to a specific country or a special center, and the control of the virus needs a global consensus and comprehensive cooperation,” he stressed.

Iran steps up coronavirus efforts as 23 MPs said to be infected: Plans to mobilise 300,000 soldiers and volunteers as number of cases passes 2,000

Iran has announced plans to mobilise 300,000 soldiers and volunteers against the deadliest outbreak of the coronavirus outside China, as state television quoted an MP as saying 23 members of parliament were infected.

On Tuesday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader, ordered the country’s armed forces to assist health officials in combating the outbreak.

“Whatever helps public health and prevents the spread of the disease is good and what helps to spread it is sin,” Khamenei said, as the deputy health minister, Alireza Raeisi, reported more infections and a death toll of 77.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I need to ask some painfully honest questions here; the populations hit the hardest by this pandemic, China, and Iran, are very prominent members of the US government and military's "regime change" targets.

Is it at all possible, that the Coronavirus was of US origin, and smuggled into China and Iran as "viral/biological WMDS" to attempt to make "regime change" in these two intractable nations become achieved more easily than it would have been through other methods, like massive wars against them?!?

And before people scream at me that the US government and military would "never do this", I would like to politely remind them that there were a wealth of diseases weaponized for World War II, and in its aftermath:

The United States biological weapons program began in 1943. It was replaced by the United States biological defense program.

Folks, the US government and military have been doing this for over 77 years; they have a lot of experience with this kind of work, and right now, I cannot bet against this possibility.

23 Iran MPs & Head Of Emergency Medical Services Confirmed For Coronavirus

Iran now officially confirms at least 2,336 coronavirus cases and 77 dead, while members of parliament have been hit hard. Tehran officials have now revealed that 23 parliament members have been confirmed for the virus, suggesting much bigger numbers of infected nationwide, after multiple reports alleged the Islamic Republic is hiding its true numbers, or at least refusing to test.

On that note the country is bracing itself for the possibility of “tens of thousands” getting tested and possibly being confirmed for the virus after the latest spike in cases, an official said previously.

And after a week ago the country's deputy Iran's deputy health minister tested positive, another top health official, the head of the nation's emergency medical services, has been confirmed for Covid-19.

Iran: Regime Change by Coronavirus?

The consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran will exacerbate the Islamic Republic’s ongoing economic crisis and bring it even closer to political collapse than ever before, the outcome of which is unwittingly being facilitated by the government’s mismanaged response to this disease as a result of the narrative corner that it’s backed itself into for “politically correct” reasons, which worryingly raises the question of whether or not regime change might be just around the corner if this dire situation isn’t soon brought under control.

Bloomberg tells AIPAC he'll 'never impose conditions' on military aid to Israel

Former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg on Monday pledged to support Israel’s security and constrain Iran’s nuclear program at the annual pro-Israel AIPAC summit in Washington, while also criticizing Sen. Bernie Sanders for boycotting the annual event, which has been a lightning rod in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Bloomberg was the only 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to attend the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Conference in Washington, a move criticized by progressives and some Democrats not aligned with the group's views.

“I can’t tell you how glad I am to be at AIPAC,” he said. "Israel is small, we know, but resilient, and surrounded by adversaries. And if you caught the last couple of presidential debates you know that I can empathize."

MORE: Bloomberg criticizes Trump’s response to coronavirus as he launches campaign blitz ahead of Super Tuesday

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation from Bloombergese into English; "I will allow Israeli full, unfettered and free rein to "play picador" in the Middle East, until it gets into a fight it cannot win on its own, and then expend American troops to clean up after Israel, no matter the cost in blood and money!

And hey, invading Iran, even if Russia has pledged to support it in the case of a US invasion of it, Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If the U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Saysis no big deal!!"

Mayor Bloomberg, a word, please; there are moments when US and Israeli objectives align in the Middle East, and times when they most assuredly do NOT align; this last, and thoroughly irresponsible statement, indicates to both American voters, and the rest of the world, that you are hard-pressed to understand the difference here, and are infinitely more inclined to support Israel, no matter if it is completely wrong in its premise to wage whatever wars they feel are critical, at any given point in time, than supporting an even-handed approach to the region's politics.
