A Major Conventional War Against Iran Is an Impossibility. Crisis within the US Command Structure

Under present conditions, an Iraq style all out Blitzkrieg involving the simultaneous deployment of ground, air and naval forces is an impossibility.

For several reasons. US hegemony in the Middle East has been weakened largely as a result of the evolving structure of military alliances.

The US does not have the ability to carry out such a project.

Bolton Demands Iran Abandon Non-Existent Nuclear Arms Program

US officials are continuing to express demands that Iran get rid of its nuclear weapons program. This is a long-standing demand, and Iran is well aware of it. The problem is Iran doesn’t have such a program, and has repeatedly disavowed ever having a program in the future.

They might as well not bother to have spent the last 16 years disavowing arms, with hawkish John Bolton clearly acting like it never happened, saying the US is determined to “increase the pressure on the Iranian regime until it abandons its nuclear weapons program.”

Iran’s Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami reiterated on Monday that Iran will never pursue a nuclear weapon, and that the whole world knows that. The general asked why the world keeps sanctions Iran over the nuclear issue when it clearly isn’t a real issue.

Frog-Marching Trump Toward War on Iran

Hypocrisy seems to have become a defining characteristic of US foreign policy, especially when it comes to Iran. After breaking the Iran deal last year and, de facto, forcing the Europeans to violate the deal in May, the US Administration is now complaining that Iran is no longer abiding by its obligations under the deal!

It’s remarkable to see Secretary of State Mike Pompeo take to Twitter to complain of Iran enriching uranium to pre-deal levels, as if somehow the US believes it can still dictate the terms of a deal to which it is no longer a party.

Media Falsely Portrays Iran’s Nuclear Deal Breach As Dash To Bomb

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)—the UN nuclear watchdog tasked with vigorously monitoring Iran’s nuclear program under the 2015 accord—confirmed this week that Iran exceeded the limit on its supply of low-enriched uranium (LEU). Unfortunately, with a few notable exceptions, reporting from many in the media on this development wasn’t great. Reporters and commentators portrayed Iran, not Donald Trump, as the primary provocateur, with many going so far as to claim, without any evidence whatsoever, that Iran is now racing to build a nuclear weapon.

UK envoy to US worries ‘dysfunctional’ Trump is one twitch away from Iran war, leaked memos show

US President Donald Trump’s erratic policies regarding Iran could lead to war at the slightest provocation, the UK’s American envoy has been warning his London superiors in internal memos leaked to media.

Troves of diplomatic cables sent to London by British Ambassador to the US Kim Darroch, which contain stinging remarks about US President Donald Trump’s temperament and policies, were leaked to the Daily Mail, which first reported the scoop on Sunday.

‘Unilateral bullying is worsening tumor’: China blames US pressure for Iranian nuclear crisis

China has slammed the United States for its “unilateral bullying” of Iran, and for being a catalyst in the nuclear crisis after Tehran announced plans to breach a uranium enrichment limit set in 2015.

“The maximum pressure exerted by the US on Iran is the root cause of the Iranian nuclear crisis,” Geng Shuang, spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, told a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.

He likened Washington’s reintroduced sanctions to “bullying” and said they’ve become a “worsening tumor” for the global community. While expressing regret at Iran’s decision, the spokesman reiterated that the current discord over the country’s nuclear program should be resolved diplomatically.

Trump: Iran 'better be careful' after backing away further from nuclear deal

President Trump lobbed a strong warning to Iran on Sunday after the rogue nation announced it had ratcheted up its uranium enrichment beyond the limit allowed by the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers.

“Iran better be careful. … Iran is doing a lot of bad things,” Trump said. “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”

Israel Warns Iran ‘Will Be Hit Hard in War’, Vows Not to Allow Tehran ‘to Obtain Nuclear Weapons’

On Monday, Tehran confirmed its stockpiling of over 300 kilograms (660 pounds) of enriched uranium, something that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described as a “significant step” toward obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has claimed that in the wake of its uranium enrichment ramp-up, Iran is veering toward a war in which it may suffer heavy losses.

Speaking to Israel Army Radio, Katz pledged that the Jewish state would not “allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, even if it has to act alone on that”.

A beginner's guide to enriching uranium

In May last year, President Donald Trump unilaterally pulled the US out of the multinational deal and reimposed severe sanctions, which further crippled Iran's economy and removed many of Tehran's incentives for compliance.

The European signatories to the deal have since struggled to keep the JCPOA alive. Last week, France, Germany and the United Kingdom confirmed that a new financial mechanism designed to enable European and Iranian companies to trade without any direct financial flows - thus bypassing the US financial system - was operational.

But the workaround vehicle called INSTEX (Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges) can only help European companies avoid US sanctions if they are sending humanitarian goods and aid products and services to Iran.

Netanyahu Compares Iranian Uranium Enrichment to Nazi Invasion of the Rhineland

Iran’s 60-day nuclear deal deadline to Europe to expire Sunday

Iran’s 60-day deadline for the European signatories to a 2015 nuclear deal to meet their end of the bargain will expire on Sunday, when Tehran will begin to enrich uranium beyond limits set by the nuclear accord, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In the second phase of scaling down its JCPOA commitments, Iran plans to increase the purity of its enriched uranium on Sunday, no longer sticking to the 3.67% limit it had agreed to in the deal.

Back in May, Iran notified the remaining partners in the nuclear deal that it would suspend the implementation of some of its commitments in reaction to the US’ unilateral withdrawal and Europe’s failure to live up to its commitments.

Gibraltar court extends detention of Iranian tanker for 14 days: Attorney general

A top court in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar has ruled that an Iranian supertanker illegally seized in the Strait of Gibraltar can be detained for up to 14 more days.

“The Supreme Court has issued today’s order on the basis that there are reasonable grounds to consider that the detention of the Grace 1 is required for the purposes of compliance with the European Union (EU) Regulation 36/2012 on sanctions on Syria,” Gibraltar’s government said in a statement on Friday.

Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo said on Thursday that the territory’s police and customs agencies, aided by a detachment of British Royal Marines, had seized the Iranian “Grace 1” vessel on suspicion of carrying crude oil to Syria, which has been under EU sanctions since 2011.

IAEA Board to Meet Wednesday on Iran at Demand of US

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that they will hold a special meeting on Iran’s civilian nuclear program on Wednesday, centered around US allegations that Iran is in violation of the P5+1 nuclear deal.

The US accused Iran of being in violation once their uranium stockpile exceeded 300 kg. Iran has denied that this is a violation, and says the stockpile cap was voluntary since the US withdrew from the deal.

Netanyahu Compares Iran's Uranium Enrichment 'Small Step' With Nazis' March Into Rhineland in 1936

Tehran announced Sunday that its uranium enrichment levels would soon surpass limits set in the 2015 nuclear deal, and said that Iran would continue to reduce its commitments to the nuclear deal every 60 days until the deal's other signatories meet their commitments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blasted Iran's decision to raise uranium enrichment levels beyond the 3.67 per cent limit outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying the only possible reason for such an action is the creation of a nuclear bomb, The Jerusalem Post has reported.

Commenting on a report in US media about Iran's uranium enrichment decision on Sunday, Netanyahu said the report seemed to suggest that the move was "not terrible, because it is just a 'small step'."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; this idiotic analogy was absolutely DOA upon delivery.

I would like to politely remind you that when looking at the movement of the Nazis, this was to gain physical territory; not to create a bomb.

And I would like to also politely remind you, that so far, Iran has been within the levels acceptable covered by the P5 +1 agreement.

It appears, to some political analysts in Israel and abroad, you have become a geopolitically "wounded animal", with all the corruption charges placed against you, and you have had to call a snap election, to happen 17 September, because your party was unable to create a quorum.

And nothing is more dangerous than is a wounded animal, or human being.

There are a number of of political pundits professing that you desperately need something major, to plunge into the minds of the Israeli voting public like a knife, before that 60 days is finished, to "seal the deal" of your return to power.
A
And what would be more major than a "false flag", perhaps to be perpetrated against some sort of US military asset, just like Israel tried to do with the USS Liberty, where good men died, because Israel wanted the US government, and the world to believe that it was Egypt which attacked this ship, in order to get the US to declare war against Egypt?!?

What I have just stated, is an historical fact, and not some fanciful work of fiction. 52nd ANNIVERSARY OF ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON THE USS LIBERTY

If it has happened before, there is a precedent; I would like to hope that your "Bromance" with President Trump, is not that of a "Frenemy" in this instance, getting ready to make his move at the expense of both President Trump, and the USA.

Only time.... will answer that question.

The Only Strategic Rationale For America's Involvement In Syria Finally Revealed

Authored by Elias Samo via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

“Washington lacks a clear strategy in Syria “; those were the recent words of Robert Ford, the last American ambassador to Syria who served prior to and during the first few years of the Syrian uprising from 2010 to 2014. A man of Ford’s intricate knowledge of the Syrian/American political dynamic is surly knowledgeable enough to assess America’s policy towards Syria. He goes on to say, “It is hard to explain the fundamental American mission in Syria… Is it to fight Daesh? Or is it to help promote a Kurdish autonomous district in Northeastern Syria… Or is it to resist Iranian encouragement?” It is partially all three; however, oddly enough, Mr. Ford avoids the obvious top priority and strategic rationale for America’s involvement in Syria: The Protection of Israel.

The Trump administration is trying to make war with Iran inevitable - Ben Armbruster

Last night, in response to Iran shooting down an American drone earlier this week, the United States came within one whim of an erratic and unstable president from launching a military strike on Iran.

Like the recent oil tanker attacks in the Gulf of Oman, the Trump administration has framed the drone incident as if it occurred in a vacuum – implying that the Iranians are launching these (alleged) attacks without provocation, and providing an aura of legitimacy to a possible American military response.

And that’s exactly what the Trump administration’s Iran hawks – led by the national security adviser, John Bolton, and the secretary of state, Mike Pompeo — have seemingly planned all along: to cultivate conditions that make military conflict with Iran the only option.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, should such a war happen, it will absolutely NOT be for the benefit of We the People, but only for the benefit of our corporate oligarchs, who will profit from such a war immeasurably.

When Karl Marx made the observation that "All Wars are Economic in Origin, the guy wasn't mistaken at all; it takes large governments borrowing money from the banks, at insanely high interest rates, to keep these wars going.

Mr. President, I am sure that you are getting daily, if not hourly, calls from the politically wounded Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, urging you, explicitly, to "get the party started" by issuing an "Executive Order" for a"kinetic Motion" attack against Iran, bypassing Congress completely.

But the major bone of contention, and your cabinet understands this, is that you will not have the support of ordinary US citizens, should you order a strike before the 2020 elections.

And Mr. President, considering what a mess into which the US government and military were led, by both American and foreign oligarchs the last several times the US government invaded and occupied a number of countries, including Iraq; Afghanistan; Libya; and DRC, you need to look at a couple potential aspects of changing the way the US does business with the Middle East.

What China does, to get what it wants, is its own version of "Let's make a deal"; certain things are promised and delivered; certain things come from the other side, which creates a "win-win" progression of that project, so all people involved, feel lifted up, and that cooperation moves to even greater depths with future projects.

I think you have to call China's "Silk and Belt Road" a major expression of this philosophy, which is going to propel China to absolute leadership and respect, if handled carefully.

Unfortunately, the US government's approach to creating "win/win" since the end of World War II, has generally been "My Way...or the Highway"

And that surprised, collective gasp in Foggy Bottom you hear, when people don't want to be killed or maimed for life by US bullets, to "neutralize" the native population; when the US installs a western-centric puppet government, to insure that their resources are only sold in US dollars, is "Why don't they love our invading their countries; murdering their kids and families, and expropriating their resources"?!?

Mr. President, I am politely requesting that you rethink your Iran strategy; I understand that you are getting what I would call "the ultimate pressure" from Netanyahu, to get this war started, but in light of the fact that the US, economically, isn't doing so well, except for the 1%, I would strongly caution you against it. I frankly think, that the situation needs more time to be resolved, and that starting to "do something" as of the end of today against Iran, could lead to unmitigated disaster for this country.

Patience, honorably conceived notions of win/win in setting up any deal, are desperately needed here; the yelling, foot-stomping, and foul-mouthed insults from both you, and the Iranian leadership, need to stop immediately.

I would also remind you that Russia has been a great partner for Syria, in terms of getting rid of US-backed, trained, and funded jihadi fighters; they are light years ahead in their weapons development.

IAEA Board to Meet Wednesday on Iran at Demand of US

US Envoy demands IAEA 'hold Iran responsible'

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that they will hold a special meeting on Iran’s civilian nuclear program on Wednesday, centered around US allegations that Iran is in violation of the P5+1 nuclear deal.

The US accused Iran of being in violation once their uranium stockpile exceeded 300 kg. Iran has denied that this is a violation, and says the stockpile cap was voluntary since the US withdrew from the deal.

The IAEA agreed to the meeting at the demands of the US, even though the US is no longer party to the P5+1 deal. US officials have been trying to undermine the nuclear deal for months now, and this seems to be a continuation of that.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am working like crazy to get my hands around this, logically, but I am sorry: I cannot.

President Trump, a word, please: since the US withdrew from the P5+1 deal in May of this year, how in the world does the US have any right to criticize the planned enrichment coming up?!?

And BTW, sir, the level to which Iranian scientists are enriching their uranium stockpile is only to serve as a clear fuel power base; it is NOT going to be enriched at the level necessary to create an atomic weapon.

Please ask your "science people" and you will get a confirmation.

You are welcome, President Trump!! :-)

SAUDI-UAE COALITION SAYS IT INTERCEPTED HOUTHI DRONES

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM

A Saudi-led military coalition said it has intercepted and destroyed drones launched by Yemen's Houthi group at targets in the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

"The drones were destroyed in air space," a coalition statement said on Saturday.

The Houthis' al-Masirah satellite news channel said the rebels targeted Saudi airports in Abha and Jizan with Qasef-2K drones.

Yahia Sarie, spokesperson for the Houthi forces, said the attacks resulted in the suspension of air traffic in both airports.

The Houthis have increasingly used drones to target southern Saudi Arabia, including two recent strikes on the Abha airport, which killed one person and wounded more than 30.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The questions I would have here, are:

1. From whom are the Houthi rebels getting these drones?!?

2. Where are the rebels getting whatever training is needed, to make sure that their targeting is as true as possible, without damaging civilian centers?!?

3. What is this going to do to oil prices in the near term, and what will that do to an already teetering US economy (except for the already monied)?

4. When will the Saudi leadership get it through their heads, that the only way to begin to get a negotiated settlement done, is by diplomacy, rather than using brute force?!?

5. When will the US citizenry begin to have an open, intelligent, and civilized national dialogue regarding the US's role in being complicit to war crimes, and genocide in Yemen?

These are very difficult questions, which urgently deserve some intelligent answers, and actions that can prevent this horrible burden on Yemeni kids and their families from continuing.

But let's consider a more global discussion of US foreign policy.

I am watching Faux & Friends, and their big, banner headline is, at 7 AM, Eastern time, is "Which television shows, should be encouraged to come back"?.

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable!!!

These are very dangerous times; major cities like LA, San Francisco, and Seattle have horrible homeless, and garbage problems, which need to be met with both compassion and intelligence, coupled with with exploding crime.

I don't know whether to laugh, or weep this morning.

And our current incarnation of Emperor Nero, President Trump, Our First American Merchant of Death in Chief, simply plays his violin to the only two tunes he knows; first, that American economy is doing magnificently well (and, for the monied like President Trump, that is true; but not for most of the rest of us); and secondly, that American wars are wrapping up, and doing magnificently well.

(This is not at all correct. What we do not see here, is any revocation, or stand down, of US Military troops in the Middle East.)

Pentagon Sending 1,000 more US troops to Middle East

No wonder that most Americans have not a clue as to what is happening in the world at large, as personnel freedoms get chipped away by ever-more-invasive, 24 hour surveillance, while the US is government pouring more troops into the Middle East, and there is a concerted, willful ignorance about this genocide in Yemen that the Corporate Powers that Be, refuse to ALLOW to be seen seen, unless you know where to look for it.

Hint: you will not find it most of the Corporate Presstitute sites; You can only find it at indy media sites, like WRH.

And here, with a warning for graphic content that may cause you to upchuck, if you've already eaten today, are the real images of what is played out in Yemen, day after day, after day, in terms of US/
Saudi war crimes in Yemen:

Images: Yemeni Children getting blown apart, killed, and/or maimed for life, courtesy of US-enabled Saudi bombing runs.

Images: Yemeni children starving to death, courtesy of US/Saudi port blockade

Yemeni children, sick with, and dying, from cholera

In times when Congress actually listened to the American people (like the huge march on the Capital by peaceful, anti-Vietnam war protestors, which demonstrated to then-President Johnson, that he could not pursue the war, because the American people would not go along anymore), and that those politicians who continued to support the war, wouldn't win the next election.

But now is a madly different time and place, originally ushered into being by President Bush's lusting after a war so badly in the Middle East, so as to be able to control both the oil, and insuring that the oil would only be sold in US dollars.

And in this devolution from its initial, Constitutional charge that only Congress has the capability to created a Declaration of War, Congress no longer makes these decisions about war, peace, and national US policies; they are now simply brokered with private, large, multi-national corporations always having a first right of refusal for if and when these wars will be fought, and that these decrees emanate from both DC and Israel.

I mean, those corporations, including our military/industrial complex, are owned by people who contribute, both overtly, and covertly, to Presidential campaigns, to insure that their will, and for heaven's sake, not the will of We the People, is always supported by the US government.

We have a very Kabuki-like ritual in the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika every 4 years, and that this "ritual" is giving Americans the illusion that they actually control who gets "hired" for the Presidency, rather than have them understand, in this first part of the 21st century, that they really have no choice, whatsoever, because they always get stuck with voting for that proverbial "lesser of two evils".

Folks, I am very deeply concerned that Israel is pushing US leadership to a war against Iran, which may well have Russia step in on the Iranian side.

This is not a war which thinking Americans can possibly support, and may well sound the death-knell for this country in its current configuration.

Tackling Iran would provoke a war, and create a "Coalition of the Willing, Against Us

We have seen how well Russian military hardware and leadership have nearly gotten Syria rejoined, under the leadership of President Bashar Al Assad.

Why a War Against Iran Will be the “Nail in a Coffin” for U.S. Hegemony in the Middle East

Why a War Against Iran is bad for President Trump and America

stalemate/5682745">The Unsubmersible US/Iran Stalemate

Iran to Reach the Mediterranean through the Proposed Iran/Iraq/Syria railway corridor

And one of the most crazy-making facets of President Trump's policies in the Middle East, is that neither he, nor the people around him, want to understand that the more the US hits countries like Iran, China and Russia with sanctions, the more these countries are quickly growing closer to each other both military, and economically.

Was this...ultimately the outcome that President Trump wanted?!?

I am having a hard time believing this; but it is a catastrophic, pathological outcome, and state of being for this country, when its leaders listen to those attached to the US government cannot see a scenario through to its logical conclusion.

SENIOR IRAN COMMANDER THREATENS US WITH ‘SECRET WEAPON’

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

Commander of the Iranian Army’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Air Defence Base, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard, has warned the United States that Iran owns a “unique secret weapon” which it would use against US forces if they make any “wrong moves”.

Addressing a forum in Iranian capital Tehran yesterday, Fard claimed that Iran’s “deterrence and unique secret weapons have stopped the filthy enemy 200 miles away [from the Iranian border] in the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.

“The enemy knows very well that it should not test Iran’s combat readiness, as its first mistake will be its last,” Fard added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Brigadier General Fard, please, a word, sir; this kind of hyper-jingoistic palaver only encourages Israel to push the US government harder toward some kind of military confrontation with your country, and soon.

Please remember; Israel's Prime Minister is both dealing with corruption charges, and with an inability to form a coalition, which has meant another snap election coming up in the next couple of months, give or take.

Netanyahu is a geopolitically wounded animal, both at home, and abroad; and any living being, is at its most dangerous, when wounded.

He may feel that he must create some kind of diversion against any country which will not bend to his will, before this snap election happens, which will be 17 September of this year. I'm looking at my calendar, sir, and I am seeing that Premier Netanyahu has precisely 73 days, to make something like this happen.

And as you are well aware, sir, the competition/threat between Israel and Iran, is primarily economic, rather than existential.

I can assure you, Brigadier General, that no thinking American wants a war with your country; and I say that, because Russia has made it crystal-clear, through the following announcement made toward the end of last month in the blog moscowtimes.com: Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

We have seen just how well Russian weaponry, and military, have performed in terms of getting rid of Syria's US trained/funded jihadis, and it appears that President Bashar Al-Assad is just on the keening edge of getting his country back.

Zamir Kabulov, went on to state: “Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

So Brigadier General Fard, please: don't give Israel more "ammo" ( I am speaking metaphorically, not literally, here) with which Netanyahu will attempt to push the US government toward something that would be so ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid, that I cannot even begin to go there.

US calls emergency nuclear watchdog meeting over Iran, after spurning it for 3 years

The US has called an emergency meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog after Iran’s uranium stockpile exceeded the 2015 nuclear deal’s limits. That’s the same body whose reports of Iran’s compliance Washington has ignored for years.

“The international community must hold Iran’s regime accountable,” US Ambassador to International Organizations Jackie Wolcott said in a statement calling for a special meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors to discuss what it calls the group’s “latest, concerning report” on the Iranian nuclear program.

President Bashar al-Assad says Syria fully supports the Iranian nation and the Islamic establishment against all threats and acts, which contravene international law and regulations.

Speaking during a meeting with Ali Asghar Khaji, a senior assistant on special political affairs to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Damascus on Tuesday, Assad underscored his country’s backing for Iran and its leadership, stating that Syria defends Iranians’ strive for their rights and stands by them against all threats and acts that violate the basis of the international law.

Assad was then briefed on the developments concerning the Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), following the US departure from the 2015 agreement, and Washington’s latest escalatory moves in the Middle East region.

Mysterious blasts off Syria's coast disrupt Iran oil delivery

A mysterious attack on pipelines off Syria’s coast, which a Syrian official said was conducted with the help of a foreign state, disrupted an Iranian crude oil delivery.

On June 22, explosive devices damaged underwater pipelines used to deliver crude oil from tankers to the Baniyas refinery, in the western Syrian governorate of Tartus, causing an oil spill, the official Syrian news agency Sana reported.

The sabotage was “qualitative and professional”, the deputy head of the Syrian Company for Oil Transport told a local radio station, adding that a foreign state co-ordinated with the perpetrators to send a message to Damascus.

TankerTrackers.com, a US company that closely follows Iranian oil shipments to Syria, saw the Iranian-flagged Stark I oil tanker arriving off the Baniyas coast a day after blasts disabled the pipelines.

Iran's Zahedan city targeted by terrorist bombing, second attack foiled

A homemade bomb has gone off in the Iranian city of Zahedan, in the southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, but a second explosive device apparently intended to cause massive casualties has been diffused by security forces.

The explosive device, revealed to be a homemade sound bomb, went off at around 2:30 am local time and prompted authorities to evacuate the area, according to a statement issued by Iranian police on Saturday.

Bomb disposal units present at the site identified a second bomb shortly after the initial explosion, diffusing the device after cutting a remote control link meant to activate the explosion.

The terrorist attack, yet to be claimed by any terror group, left no casualties but shattered windows of several shops in the vicinity.

U.S.'s Bolton welcomes Britain's seizure of tanker with Iranian oil

White House national security adviser John Bolton on Thursday welcomed Britain’s seizure of an oil tanker loaded with Iranian oil bound for Syria, saying the United States and its allies will continue to prevent Syrian and Iranian governments “from profiting off this illicit trade.”

AFTER 37 YEARS, IRAN URGES ICRC PROBE INTO DISAPPEARANCE OF ITS DIPLOMATS

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

Iran’s Foreign Ministry yesterday urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to form a fact-finding committee to probe the issue of four diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982, Iranian news agencies reported.

“As has been announced several times over the past years, evidence shows that the kidnapped diplomats in Lebanon were delivered to the Israeli Zionist forces and then they were transferred to the occupied lands and they are now held in prison by this illegitimate regime,” a statement said.

It added: “Given the fact that Lebanon was under the US-backed Israeli occupation at that time, the Islamic Republic of Iran holds the Zionist regime and its supporters legally and politically responsible for the abduction and the terrorist action.”

Friday marked the 37th anniversary of the disappearance of diplomats identified as Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Ahmad Motevasselian, Kazem Akhavan and Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You are seeing a marvelous PR campaign, timed brilliantly to ultimately be levelled at Israel, and what will ultimately be the most apt to happen here, will be for Israel to publicly deny the presence of these people in its prisons, and to deny the team any access to either critical records, or people who would actually know what really happened here.

Iran averted all-out war in the Middle East at the last moment when the Central command and control operational room of its Army and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) ordered not to shoot down a US Navy anti-submarine warfare, Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance Poseidon P-8 .

US officials join bizarre Iranian cult MEK in rallying for regime change

The exiled Iranian MEK regime change cult rallied in front of the US State Department on June 22, just a day after Trump rejected pressure to start a war on Iran. Current and former American officials joined the bizarre organization, hailing it as the legitimate resistance to Tehran. Shadowed by a team of Mojahedin-e Khalq minders, Max Blumenthal and Thomas Hedges reported from the scene.

Iran's FM Zarif Confirms Enriched Uranium Limit Now Breached

It what appears to be the first known violation of the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA), Iran’s stockpiles of enriched low-grade uranium have surpassed the limit of 300 kg, Iran’s semi-official Fars News is reporting.

Fars noted further that the International Atomic Energy Agency had confirmed the stockpile measurement on Monday, after in May it had already quadrupled its production of the material, the key component to make nuclear reactor fuel – and potentially nuclear weapons. Following the Fars report which had been based on an unnamed "informed source," Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was the first government official to confirm the country has exceeded the ceiling of 300kg, according to Iran's ISNA.

Iran says it has exceeded uranium limits set in nuclear deal

Iran has exceeded the limits for its enriched uranium stockpile set in a 2015 nuclear deal with six world powers, the country’s state media reported on Monday.

?A spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization announced earlier this month that Tehran would surpass the nuclear deal’s 300-kilogram limit ?if the countries still participating in the nuclear accord did not negotiate new terms.

US Media Outlet Reveals Who Stopped Trump From Striking Iran After Spy Drone Downing

According to the newspaper, while advisers to Trump were calling for a military strike against Iran in response to the downing of an American drone that Tehran claimed violated its airspace, Carlson told the POTUS that the use of force would be "crazy".

The anchor of Trump's beloved TV channel reportedly convinced him that the “hawks” in the US administration did not have the president's best interests at heart, and that if Trump unleashed a war on Tehran, he could kiss his chances of 2020 re-election goodbye.

China imports first Iranian oil since US ended sanction waivers

Iran has delivered the first crude oil to a Chinese refinery complex since the United States removed as of May all sanction waivers for Iranian oil customers, including its biggest buyer China.

According to TankerTrackers, a medium-sized Suezmax vessel, named SALINA and owned by the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), loaded around 1 million barrels of crude oil from Iran and departed on May 28. The tanker arrived on June 20 at Jinxi Refining and Chemical Complex in China in a first independent tanker-tracking confirmation that China is defying the U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil exports.

Potential Cost Of US War With Iran: $250 Oil & Another Afghanistan

Iran’s downing of a US military surveillance drone last week predictably led to another flare-up in tense relations between Tehran and Washington. What could be the implications of a potential conflict between the two nations?

Right after the Global Hawk UAV was shot down, the New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump approved military strikes against Iran, but then changed his mind.

Let’s start by saying that the decision to launch a military operation against Iran (which is what this is really about), including the specific time and place, would have to be taken by a very small group of top US political and military officials. At such meetings, no leaks could possibly occur by definition.

Childish Diplomacy: Donald Trump’s New Play Against Iran

The Trump administration is supplying another version: diplomacy, not as subtle art but as childish outrage and pressings, brinkmanship teasingly encouraging of war. The result of the latest round of bile-filled spats between Iran and the United States is that diplomacy has ceased to exist, becoming a theatrical show demanding the lowest admission fees.

On Monday, Washington announced that another round (how many will they be?) of sanctions would be imposed. They are of a very specific, personal nature, though their effect is one of insult rather than tangible effect. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, deemed by Trump “ultimately responsible for the hostile conduct of the regime”, is the crowning glory of the list, as are his appointments and those in his office. An important aspect of the sanctioning lies in the allegation that the Ayatollah has access to a vast fund that showers largesse upon the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps.

Falling Oil Profits Drive U.S. War Threats Against Iran?

“I was the CIA director. We lied, we cheated, we stole. … We had entire training courses.” That’s what Trump regime Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told students at Texas A&M University on April 15.

On June 14, Pompeo told reporters that “Iran is responsible for the attacks that occurred in the Gulf of Oman today.” On June 16 he told Fox News,“There’s no doubt. The intelligence community has lots of data, lots of evidence.” He didn’t give any.

The Trump regime is desperately escalating confrontation with Iran in coordination with Israel and Saudi Arabia. Why? The answer can be found in the headlines.

Not the headlines parroting Washington’s claim that Iran attacked tankers in the Gulf of Oman. The answer is in the headlines that bankers and CEOs worry about.

No such thing as ‘short war’ with Iran – foreign minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif issued a damning post on Twitter, slamming Donald Trump’s policy and ridiculing his claim that war with the Middle Eastern nation would be a quick affair.

Zarif, who has served under President Hassan Rouhani since 2013, said that a “short war with Iran is an illusion.” In four other bullet points, he takes down Trump’s policies one-by-one. In the first, he pointed out that sanctions are not an alternative to war but, in fact, itself constitutes an act of war. In another, he states that Trump’s reference to the “obliteration” of Iran amounts to a threat of genocide, which is a war crime.

The Iranian People Are Not Our Enemy

Bullying and crude threats will achieve little beyond entangling the United States and the region in another senseless war while deepening the two countries’ 40-year estrangement. The United States should strive for an Iran that is stable with a strong middle class and highly educated youths connected to the moderating influence of the outside world [bold mine-DL]. The Iranian people want to restore the friendship between Iran and the United States, two countries that enjoyed 123 years of cordial ties before 1979. But the path to their hearts and minds is not through sanctions and military intervention.

It is not too late for this administration to cease demonizing and threatening Iran, and step aside from its maximalist demands. One of Iran’s most renowned poets, Rumi, offers a better way forward: “Out beyond ideas of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

Trump: I Don’t Need Congressional Approval to Attack Iran

In an interview Monday, President Trump told Hill.TV that if he was going to start a war against Iran, he doesn’t need Congressional approval, nor does he even have to inform Congress about the attack.

“I do like keeping them abreast, but I don’t have to do it legally,” Trump insisted. Trump says Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told him he needed Congressional approval, and “I disagree.”

The US Constitution empowers only Congress to declare war, and the War Powers Act also mandates that Congress offer an authorization for the use of military force. No such authorization exists for Iran, something Congressional officials have repeatedly pointed out.

State Dept Looks to Create Anti-Iran Coalition

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he intends to build a global coalition against Iran, starting Sunday with his visit to Saudi Arabia. This appears to be the latest push since the collapse of an attempt to build an “Arab NATO,” though Pompeo intends to recruit nations from Europe and Asia as well.

While Pompeo emphasized the new coalition being anti-Iran, other State Department officials described it as primarily about maritime security. They said it would be intended to patrol and protect shipping lanes.

This reflects the conflicting interests of Pompeo and President Trump. Pompeo is very keen to get something started against Iran, and remains among the main advocates for that. Trump, on the other hand, says he wants other nations to protect their own ships instead of expecting the US to do it, this isn’t necessarily an Iran-centric issue.

No War With Iran, for Now – but Mike Pompeo and John Bolton Still Really, Really Want One

After a week of high drama in which Secretary of State Mike Pompeo indicated the Trump administration was preparing for war with Iran, President Trump sought to end the war crisis, at least for now, by declining to retaliate against Iran over what he called “very minor” attacks.

Trump canceled a retaliatory strike on Iran in the early hours on Friday, at least in part because he was not certain that the drone or a Navy spy plane following it had not strayed into Iran’s airspace in Strait of Hormuz, according to the New York Times.

But the evident determination of Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton to get Trump to carry out a military strike against Iran – combined with Trump’s “maximum pressure” strategy, which has already prompted Iranian pushback – mean that such crises are bound to continue until either war comes or U.S. policy fundamentally changes.

UN Security Council Holds Meeting to Discuss Iran at Request of US

Over the last year, the relationship between the United States and Iran has suffered numerous blows. It started when US authorities withdrew from the Iranian nuclear deal and imposed tough sanctions against key sectors of the Iranian economy in order to "change the behaviour" of the Islamic republic.

The UN Security Council is holding a closed-door meeting at its headquarters in New York City to discuss the attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman and Iran’s downing of a US Navy surveillance drone, following the request made by the US mission.

The meeting comes after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that they shot down a US surveillance drone because it violated Iran’s airspace, an assertion that was categorically denied by Washington. The US President responded to the incident, slapping new US sanctions on Iran to hold Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his associates responsible for the country's "hostile conduct".

Pompeo accuses Iran of 'violence' after Iran shoots down US spy drone

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused Iran of “violence and disinformation” after Iran shoots down an American state-of-the-art spy drone over its territorial waters, repeating claims without evidence that the aircraft was targeted over international waters.

In a statement released Saturday evening, Pompeo accused Iranian authorities of lying about Washington’s efforts to bring Tehran to the negotiating table using the government of Oman as an intermediary, claiming that the US would only engage with Iran “when the time is right.”

“President Trump did not pass a message through Oman calling for talks with Iran,” the top US diplomat claimed in the statement, adding: “We have made our position abundantly clear. We are willing to engage when the time is right."

US Walks Back Claim Of Drone Not In Iranian Airspace, Just As Iran Releases GPS Data & Drone Debris

The US got Itself Caught in the Gulf

Even after facing toughest US sanctions in history and severe economic conditions for many months now, Iran continues to stand tall in front of US economic and military aggression. Certainly, the US based “Iran experts” advising the Trump administration never expected such level of resilience and resistance. On the contrary, what they expected was an Iranian capitulation under “maximum pressure” and a victory for the US For Iran, imposition of sanctions is, as its leaders have expressed many times, an act of war and the Iranian act of downing a US spy drone speaks volumes about Iranian preparation to face a US military aggression. Most certainly, the US policy makers were not expecting such action from the Iranian side; hence, the shocking surprise at the Iranian “counter pressure” tactics. The downing of a spy drone is no small act. Consider this:

Mainstream Media Faults Trump for Not Following Through on Iran Attack - Not blundering into a war with Iran seen as a sign of weakness

To be sure, Thursday was meant to be the start of the US-Iran War which hawks have been trying to piece together for generations. Trump ordered the attack, but ultimately, called it off a mere 10 minutes from a strike.

What had been a subject of debate was now USA Today accusing Trump of “not following through.” As concerning as blundering into a huge war in the Middle East had been, the new talking point was Trump showing weakness, and per Kori Schake of the Atlantic, damaging “America’s credibility.”

America can, after all, usually be counted on to react hastily, and stumble into what are in retrospect unfortunate wars. That Trump managed to just barely avoid the siren’s song of war was outside the expectation of American allies, and now they don’t know what to think. NBC News was quick to accuse Trump of “indecision” and declared it would “embolden Iran.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight; the US military, and the Presidency are now being taken to task, for not starting this potentially protracted war of attrition, for which our military is utterly unprepared, because it doesn't have the troop strength; the weaponry; the money; or the manufacturing?!?

And we know, at least with Samantha Vinograd, where her foreign policy views come from; she was a featured presenter at last year's AIPAC Conference:

2018: AIPAC Conference Featured speakers included CNN'S Samantha Vinograd

With Kori Shake, we know a little bit about her background Kori Shake, Hoover institution bio

I would like to politely state, that whatever credibility President Trump started with, in 2017, he absolutely and thoroughly blew to smithereens, by very publicly backing the notion, that everything Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu and his biggest US contributor, Sheldon Adelson, wanted in the Middle East, they would get from his administration.

So, what has he done so far, in that support?!? He has declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel; he has withdrawn the US from the P5+1 treaty with Iran, and thrown crippling sanctions on the Iranian government; he has also, for good measure, created a definition, by executive order, of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, as "terrorists".

And in an absolutely potentially insane win/win for Tel Aviv, he has conjured up a "Pax Americana in the Middle East", being hawked by his son-in-law, Jarod ("The Magnificent") Kushner, which is DOA, because all sovereignty of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem ,as well as the Golan Heights, would now be recognised as official Israeli territory, period, end of discussion.

What the whole of the White House seems pathologically incapable of understanding (or, more correctly, do not want to understand), is, that for Palestinians, money is not the objective in any peace deal with Israel, although the money offered here may seem attractive; it is sovereignty over a bit of land to call their own, which drives the Palestinian movement.

And to add insult to historical injury, Israeli engineers, in creating new settler developments, have placed them in such a manner, that there is no way for a contiguous State of Palestine to exist, at this point.

So to Kori and Samantha, please, don't despair; as I type this, I am very sure that if President Trump does NOT want to start a war, your hero in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Netanyahu, is talking to his military ops right now, and has had lengthy discussions about how to "get this party started", and goad the American government into a war in Iran, from which they cannot walk away.

Bolton Visits Israel, Threatens Iran Our Military is 'Ready to Go'

While standing behind a podium of the Israeli Prime Minister's Office during a trip to Israel on Sunday, National Security Adviser John Bolton threatened Iran not to "mistake US prudence and discretion for weakness" and said the US military "is rebuilt, new and ready to go."

"Neither Iran nor any other hostile actor should mistake US prudence and discretion for weakness. No one has granted them a hunting license in the Middle East," Bolton said while standing besides Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Our military is rebuilt, new and ready to go," Bolton said.

Trump May be in Too Deep to Avoid War with Iran

President Trump’s last-minute change of mind over launching US airstrikes against Iran shows that a military conflict of some description in the Gulf is becoming highly probable. His hesitation was most likely less connected with an Iranian surface-to-air missile shooting down a US surveillance drone than with his instinct that militarising the crisis is not in America’s best interests.

If Trump had not pulled back and the strikes against Iranian radars and missile batteries had gone ahead, where exactly would that have got him? This sort of limited military operation is usually more effective as a threat than in actuality. The US is not going to launch an all-out war against Iran in pursuit of a decisive victory and anything less creates more problems than it resolves.

Iran and Trump on the edge of the abyss

Iran is pushing US President Donald Trump to the edge of the abyss, raising the level of tensions to new heights in the Middle East. After the sabotage of four tankers at al-Fujairah and the attack on the Aramco pipeline a month ago, and last week’s attack on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC – now categorized by the USA as a terrorist body) yesterday shot down a US Navy drone, sending two clear messages. The first message is that Iran is ready for an all-out war, no matter what the consequences. The second message is that Iran is aware that the US President has cornered himself; the embarrassing attack came a week after Trump launched his electoral campaign.

Iran ‘Violates’ Nuclear Deal, After US ‘Withdraws’

Quick question: Does the US ever break, breach or violate its international agreements?

Apparently not, according to US coverage of Iran’s recent announcement that it intended to go beyond the limits of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in enriching uranium for its civilian nuclear program (frequently mischaracterized as a nuclear weapons program in media coverage). Reading corporate media’s inversion of reality, it’s hard to escape the impression that while Iran betrays its international agreements, the US just leaves them behind.

The Exceptionally American Historical Amnesia Behind Pompeo’s Claim of ‘40 Years of Unprovoked Iranian Aggression’

Someone attacked two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman last week. The Trump administration wants the world to believe that Iran is the culprit. Yet there is no serious evidence that Tehran was behind the attacks on the Norwegian and Japanese ships. Not only is there no proof of Iranian involvement, such an attack by Iran makes no sense at all. Japan and Iran are friends. Just last month, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe – who was visiting Tehran during the tanker incident – affirmed this friendship in the presence of Donald Trump during the US president’s recent state visit to Japan. Most importantly of all, the crew and owner of the Japanese tanker attacked in the gulf vehemently reject the US claim that the vessel was damaged by a mine, asserting instead that a “flying object” struck the ship.

Pompeo and Other Hawks Try to Steer Trump Into War With Iran

It is no mystery that the Trump Administration has some major hawks, and that the likes of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and John Bolton are just itching for an opportunity to start a US war against Iran.

Weeks of mounting tensions with Iran saw Pompeo taking point on talking up the escalation. President Trump would occasionally chime in on its opposition to having a war, but Pompeo is still seen trying to coax Trump into some sort of military action.

He’s not alone after Thursday’s attack was called off, either. Media outlets are pushing Trump broadly about not following through, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is predicting that Iran will attack a US ship if a war isn’t started.

US Troops in Iraq See Surge in ‘Indirect Fire,’ Some Look to Blame Iran

The escalation of US tensions with Iran has centered greatly, at least within the narrative, on Iraq. The idea is that US troops are endangered in Iraq, and that Iranian proxies, who are actually part of the Iraqi government, are plotting against them.

And just because nothing ever happens doesn’t mean that isn’t going to continue to be a talking point, as US officials talk about “indirect fire” attacks in Iraq, with indirect in this case meaning they don’t appear to be firing directly at the US forces.

Officials say they are perceiving an increase in the amount of mortar and rocket fire in Iraq. Which would be dangerous to US troops, except US targets aren’t actually being hit. It’s just that the US has so many targets in Iraq that something they have “come close.” The military confirmed there were no casualties, but declined to report on the number of these not-really-attacks that took place.

Why a U.S.-Iran War Could End Up Being a Historic Disaster

Sixteen years ago, the George W. Bush administration manipulated intelligence to scare the public into backing an aggressive war against Iraq. The smoking gun mushroom clouds that National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice warned against didn’t exist, but the invasion long desired by neoconservatives and other hawks proceeded. Liberated Iraqis rejected U.S. plans to create an American puppet state on the Euphrates and the aftermath turned into a humanitarian and geopolitical catastrophe which continues to roil the Middle East.

Thousands of dead Americans, tens of thousands of wounded and maimed U.S. personnel, hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and millions of Iraqis displaced. There was the sectarian conflict, destruction of the historic Christian community, the creation of Al Qaeda in Iraq—which morphed into the far deadlier Islamic State—and the enhanced influence of Iran. The prime question was how could so many supposedly smart people be so stupid?

Iranian general warns US against uncontrollable scope of war

An Iranian military commander warned on Sunday that any conflict with Iran would have uncontrollable consequences across the region and endanger the lives of US forces, as tensions between Washington and Tehran have flared after the downing of an American surveillance drone. Maj. Gen. Gholamali Rashid made the remarks while addressing Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps during a field visit to a command center for Iranian radars and missile systems. The general oversees and coordinates joint military operations in the Iranian Armed Forces. “The US administration should behave in a responsible way to protect the lives of American forces,” he was quoted as saying in comments published by the semi-official Fars news agency.

Cotton warns 'attack on a US ship' will happen without 'firm' response to Iran

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, said that recent actions from Iran deserved a proper response, and warned that if the Islamic Republic does not go unchecked, it will only increase the country's hostilities toward the U.S.

This comes after President Trump decided against a possible American strike after Iran shot down an unmanned U.S. drone, believing that the 150 expected casualties from a countermeasure were not "proportionate" to the loss of an unmanned aircraft.

Crazed US Government: As We Face “Armageddon” the Western World Is Leaderless

The moronic warmongers in high office—Bolton, Pompeo, and Pence—and their Israel Lobby masters are determined, and they have not abandoned their campaign for war with Iran. Of course, the liars say that Iran will just accept its punishment for defending its territory and there will be no war. But this is not what Iran says. I believe Iran.

Some of the tiny percentage of people in the Western World who are still capable of thought regret that Trump called off the insane plan. They think the consequences would have been the destruction of the Saudi and Israeli governments—two of the most evil in history—and the cut-off of oil to the US and Europe, with the resulting depression causing the overthrow of the Western warmonger governments. They believe that catastrophic American defeat is the only way peace can be restored to the world.

Trump Has a $259 Million Reason to Bomb Iran

Much analysis of Trump’s slide toward war with Iran has focused on his hawkish national security adviser, John Bolton, who, reportedly requested options from the Pentagon to deploy as many as 120,000 troops to the Middle East and hit Iran with 500 missiles per day. Bolton is the loudest voice inside the White House pushing for a military escalation to the administration’s “maximum pressure” strategy.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, for his part, is staking out the position that the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force allows the administration to take military action against Iran without congressional approval, an unusual and broadly criticized interpretation of congressional oversight.

Yet, there’s another omnipresent influence on Trump: $259 million given by some of the GOP’s top supporters to boost his campaign in 2016 and support Republican congressional and senate campaigns in 2016 and 2018.

Trump on Iran Nuclear Deal: ‘I Don’t Care About Europeans’

US President Donald Trump said in an interview that he is interested in direct talks with Iran without preconditions. At the same time, he dismissed the European point of view that Tehran is complying with the 2015 nuclear deal, arguing that it is EU business interests talking.

Trump commented on Washington’s point of view on the 2015 Joint Cooperative Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal with Iran in a Sunday interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, saying he would accept any kind of deal with Iran, as long as it prevents Tehran from getting nuclear weapons. Trump suggested that he has no issue with the deal being bilateral or multilateral.

“I don't care which, what kind of a deal. It can be separate or it could be total,” he said.

Iran goes for “maximum counter-pressure”

Sooner or later the US “maximum pressure” on Iran would inevitably be met by “maximum counter-pressure”. Sparks are ominously bound to fly.

For the past few days, intelligence circles across Eurasia had been prodding Tehran to consider a quite straightforward scenario. There would be no need to shut down the Strait of Hormuz if Quds Force commander, General Qasem Soleimani, the ultimate Pentagon bête noire, explained in detail, on global media, that Washington simply does not have the military capacity to keep the Strait open.

As I previously reported, shutting down the Strait of Hormuz would destroy the American economy by detonating the $1.2 quadrillion derivatives market; and that would collapse the world banking system, crushing the world’s $80 trillion GDP and causing an unprecedented depression.

Netanyahu 'Pleased to Hear' About 'Crippling' New US Sanctions on Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed Washington’s intentions to impose additional sanctions on Iran.

"Thanks to crippling American sanctions, Iran is facing unprecedented economic pressure as a result of its aggression. So I was pleased to hear President Trump make clear yesterday that pressure will continue and that pressure will increase", Netanyahu said during a joint press conference with US National Security Adviser John Bolton ahead of the security summit between the United States, Israel and Russia.

The statement comes after US President Donald Trump said on 22 June that new "major" sanctions would be imposed on Iran on 24 June.

If war breaks out, no country will manage its ‘scope and timing,’ Iranian general warns US

The US should think about the lives of its military forces before considering further military action in the Middle East, an Iranian general has warned, predicting that a US-Iran conflict would devastate the entire region.

“The US administration should behave in a responsible way to protect the lives of American forces,” Maj. Gen. Gholamali Rashid said on Sunday, while addressing Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Rashid stressed that if war does come, it would be the fault of “US interventionist policy,” and would have disastrous consequences for the entire region.
