Historic US-Iran nuclear deal could be taking shape

Edging toward a historic compromise, the U.S. and Iran reported progress Monday on a deal that would clamp down on Tehran's nuclear activities for at least 10 years but then slowly ease restrictions on programs that could be used to make atomic arms.

Despite US/Israel Demands, 'Isolated' Russia Offers Iran Advanced Anti-Aircraft Missiles

With proxy wars mounting and "isolated" Russia ratifying The BRICS Bank this week, we are sure Washington is preparing to double-down on 'costs' (to Europeans) as Reuters reports, Russia has offered Iran its latest Antey-2500 missiles (ironically after a deal to supply less powerful S-300 missiles was dropped under Western pressure in 2010). While the United States and Israel lobbied Russia to block the missile sale, the head of Russian state defense conglomerate, Sergei Chemezov, says, "as far as Iran is concerned, we offered Antey-2500 instead of S-300. They are thinking. No decision has been made yet."

U.S. helped Israel develop hydrogen bomb: Obama releases documents

Officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran claim they have documents that prove the United States assisted Israel in its development of a hydrogen bomb, which they claim is a crime according to international laws, according to the Iranian news media. And there is suspicion that President Barack Obama declassified the documents and released them to a left-wing think-tank to hurt Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to reports, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday, “There's no question that some of the things that the Israelis have said in characterizing our negotiating position have not been accurate. There's no question about that.”

White House Accuses Israel Of 'Distorting' Truth Of U.S.-Iran Nuclear Negotiations

The Barack Obama-led administration on Wednesday accused the Israeli government of misleading the public on negotiations between the U.S. and Iran over the latter's nuclear program. U.S. Officials reportedly said that Israel is engaged in “cherry-picking.”

She also confirmed that the U.S. government is withholding some details related to the talks from the Israelis.

State of the Nation: Historic US–Israel Rift: Obama Leaks Israeli Nuke Violation Doc Before Bibi Visit

The Obama Administration has radically departed from the traditional U.S. relationship with Israel during this second term. Such a sea change in attitude by the American government augurs great changes on the horizon, both for the Middle East and the world.

It appears that this may be one of the ‘higher purposes’ of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He has so polarized the Israelis, the American people, and various camps throughout the Mideast that many now understand the status quo can no longer be maintained. Netanyahu has forced the Palestinian plight onto the entire community of nations.

US officials believe that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authorized his government to release secret details of the US nuclear negotiations with Iran to the Israeli press, according to Washington Post columnist David Ignatius.

In response, according to Ignatius, the US has decided to "reduce the exchange of sensitive information about the Iran talks" with Israel.

The US has stopped updating Israel on progress in talks with Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program, Channel 2 reported Sunday. The report was quickly denied in Israel and the US.

According to the TV report, US National Security Adviser Susan Rice has cut off contact with Israeli National Security Adviser Yossi Cohen on the talks. It also quoted chief US negotiator Wendy Sherman as saying that she will no longer keep Israel informed of the attack.

The channel characterized the move as revenge for Netanyahu’s planned speech to Congress next month, which has raised the ire of the Obama administration.

To prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, he said, America should place heavy sanctions on Iran while maintaining the threat of a military strike.

Israel Slams Diplomacy, Threatens to Attack Iran

The Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs is a position initially created in 2006 to give hawkish Avigdor Lieberman a position of nominal foreign policy. The portfolio’s role is simply to threaten Iran on a regular basis. Current Minister Yuval Steinitz takes that job very seriously.

On Thursday, Steinitz warned Israel could unilaterally attack Iran at any time, with no warning at all, and would consider it “self defense” because they consider the ongoing nuclear negotiations a failure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Avigdor Lieberman: there is something called a "cost/benefit" ratio to any military offensive.

And I would like to assure you that, geopolitically, militarily, and economically, the cost of such an attack for Israel will far outweigh the benefits. The massive international sanctions which would result from such an unprovoked attack would put the Israeli economic into a complete downward spiral from which the country might never recover.

Remember, sir: Iran has not started a war in over 200 years; the same certainly could not be said with a straight face about Israel!

As ticked off as Obama is about Netanyahu coming to lecture both Houses of Congress on 3 March about Iran, he may well decide that if Israel attacks Iran, the US military will sit this one out; and then, where are you?!?

And it appears that you didn't get the memo about Russia and Iran signing a mutual defense accord, earlier this year. War with Russia, sir?!?!? I would not imagine that this is the outcome you would want for such an attack.

Please tell us, sir: would you attack Iran, knowing that one of the oldest, continually practicing Jewish communities lives here?!? Are you really ready to commit genocide against your own Jewish brothers and sisters?!?

I would therefore strongly caution you, the Knesset, and the IDF to be very careful about what you wish for as an outcome from such an attack; the unexpected consequences may be both horrific...and irreversible.

Steinitz Hints Israel Could Strike Iran as Nuclear Talks Drag On

Intelligence Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz warned Thursday that Israel could act unilaterally against Iran over its nuclear drive, saying Tehran has failed to make concessions in talks with world powers.

"I won't be too specific but all options are still on the table," Steinitz told reporters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It should be recalled that Israel bombed the civilian power station in Osirak, Iraq, claiming it was a nuclear weapons factory. International experts examined the ruins of the power station after the 2003 invasion and found no evidence at all of a clandestine nuclear weapons factory such as the one Israel has under Dimona. So, if Israel bombs Iran's power station, Iran would be well advised to allow international observers (with the necessary radiation protection) to fully inspect the facility and confirm that Israel is batting zero with respect to correctly identifying nuclear facilities and needlessly exposed the Iranian people to a nuclear disaster. Gen Allen: Iraq’s Anti-ISIS Ground Offensive to Begin Within Weeks

After several months of sort of spinning its wheels in the war against ISIS, retired Gen. John Allen, who’s become sort of the global ambassador to the war, says the Iraqi “ground offensive” will begin in a matter of weeks.

Gen. Allen, whose comments were made to Jordan’s state media, said the coalition intends to provide “major firepower” for the offensive, and that the goal is to “take back Iraq.”

The comments don’t go on to say exactly what this offensive will include, but they certainly give the impression of this being the “big one” which Iraq has been hoping for to try to retake Mosul.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please take a look at the map on the right hand side of this article.

Mosul, once retaken, would be a perfect staging area for a ground invasion of Syria, under the pretext of "fighting Isis" there.

And General Allen, sir, I have a bone to pick with you: this story should have been in all American outlets, rather than Jordanian outlets, and the coming actions confirmed first.

Netanyahu rejects criticism: I am determined to address Congress

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he is determined to address the U.S. Congress on Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu rejected the criticism in the United States and Israel, saying that "while some are busy with protocol or politics, a bad deal with Iran is taking shape."

Speaking at a Likud election event, Netanyahu added that, as prime minister, it is his duty to do everything in his power to prevent a dangerous deal with Iran. "From the day Israel was established to this day, there have been essential differences between Israel and the U.S., and relations remained sound – this will be the case this time as well," he said.

"This is not a political issue or a party issue, neither here nor there. This is an existential issue, and I approach it with the fullest responsibility."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation from Netanyahu-ese into English:

"I will do my best to destroy any possibility of the P5+1 talks reaching a successful conclusion, and hijack US foreign policy on Iran...because I can!!"

And sir, forgive me, but talking about Iran as an alleged "existential threat" is morally disingenuous in the extreme.

Iran has not started a fight in over 200 years.

One certainly cannot say the same for the State of Israel, however.

And let just say, for the sake of argument, that Iran did develop a nuclear bomb. What would that mean for the State of Israel, which already has nuclear bombs?!?

It would mean, sir, that Israel could no longer attack Iran because it had a nuclear deterrent.THAT is what you are trying desperately to prevent.

The Iranian leadership is many things, but stupid is not one of them. They understand that should they attempt to attack Israel, the US and Israel would reduce Iran to smoldering green glass. So, the bottom line here is, they would not.

And just as do the Israelis, the Iranians love their children as well.

And am I not correct that Iran is home to one of the oldest continuing Jewish communities on the planet, who are so content with their lives in Iran that they are not too eager to "make aliyah" (immigrate to Israel)?!?

IF there were racial intolerance against the Jews of Iran, they would be moving as fast as they can from Iran, to find a new home in Israel, or somewhere else. But as you know, in the 1979 Iranian Constitution, Jews, Christians and Bahais were given the status of respected minority religions, and have a seat at the table in the Iranian Parliament.

Uh, sir, how many Palestinians are allowed to stand for election in the Knesset?!?!?
It is both a fair, and reasonable question, don't you think?!?

PM Considering Changing Format of Congress Address: Netanyahu's team reacts to criticism over planned address to Congress; may pull live TV plan.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's team is considering changing the format of his planned address to Congress, Reuters reports Monday, due to the waves of criticism directed at Jerusalem over the invitation.

Netanyahu's address to Congress on Iran was initially planned to be televised live, as important addresses have been in the past.

However, following the constant criticism leveled at Netanyahu for the invitation - which was extended to him by House Speaker John Boehner, but not directly by US President Barack Obama - the team is reportedly considering scheduling his address for a closed-door session of Congress instead.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short question for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: what do you want to say to Congress that the American people are not supposed to hear?!?

That, sir, is what every thinking American will want to know.

And a short memo to the American Congress: if you allow Netanyahu to do this, every single American will understand that US foreign policy, particularly as it effects the P5+1 negotiations with Iran, is dictated by Israel, and Congress has been completely co opted by a foreign government.

Pro-Israel lobby threteans Democrats who plan to skip Netanyahu speech

Several pro-Israel lobby groups in the United States have threatened to “publicly condemn” Democrats who plan to skip the Israeli prime minister’s speech about Iran before Congress next month.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s well-funded Jewish conservative backers say they may use their funds to draw attention in the districts and states of any Democratic lawmaker who is not at the US Capitol to listen to Netanyahu on March 3.

Netanyahu has been invited by House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner to address a joint session of Congress to speak about the “threat” of Iran’s nuclear energy program.

“This is, I think, a critical visit by the prime minister. If these Democrats would rather put partisan politics ahead of principle and walk out on the prime minister of Israel, then we have an obligation to make that known,” said Matt Brooks, the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a political lobbying group which promotes Jewish Republicans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Messrs Kline and Brooks: what is in the best interests of Tel Aviv, many times is NOT in the best interests of the American people, the American military, and the American economy; waging war against Iran happens to be one of those things NOT in the best interests of this country.

And the utter, unabashed hubris, Mr. Klein, of demanding that Democrats who don't show PROVE that they were ill and could not attend Netanyahu's speach by way of presenting a Doctor's note to you?!?

But Mr. Klein, I cannot possibly thank you enough for having given me a marvelous idea for a slogan campaign, that the American people - and all of Rivero's Rangers - should be up to, regarding Netanyahu's blatant attempt to sway US public policy against Iran.

It should be Teeshirts, Bumperstickers, and logos, faxed into every congressional office thickly, and that is:

Hell, no, don't you go,
hell, no, don't you go

Netanyahu Vows to Sabotage Iran Nuclear Deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was among the first to recognize that a deal might happen, and saw this as a potentially huge threat to his would-be war. He’s now promising to do everything and anything in his power to sabotage the deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu; sir, I would like to politely point out to you that you, and the country of Israel, are completely irrelevant to this process, where no members of the Israeli government were invited to join these negotiations, due to your transparent desire to be the warmonger-in-Chief against Iran.

I know, sir, that you have had an extensive university education, and speak brilliant English, so there is a word about which I wish to strongly caution you, particularly in light of your addressing a joint session of the US Congress on 3 March, to bully them into rejecting the treaty.

That concept, sir, is hubris: an unbounded pride which dictates that the person demonstrating this quality believes that there will be utterly no consequences to their actions, even if those actions are completely morally reprehensible.

Iran has chosen to sign the NNPT; Israel, which has a nuclear weapons program, refuses to become a signatory, and allow their nuclear sites to be inspected. We have known this from the late 80s, through the exposure of this program through Mordecai Vanunu.

It is an open secret in the West that there is no "nuclear ambiguity" for Israel.

As well you know, every bit of American aid, both military and monetary, is ILLEGAL, under the Symington Act.

Therefore, it is not the business of any foreign government, including that of Israel, to attempt to form or mold US foreign policy; but your address to Congress regarding Iran, is just such a blatant attempt to do this.

Thinking Americans resent this, because they understand that what may be considered by Tel Aviv to be in Israel's best interests, are many times NOT in the interest of the American people; and a war against Iran, which now means most likely means a war with Russia, on Iran's side, is not good for the American people, our military, or our economy.

You are expecting AIPAC to deliver the appropriate hammer blows to Congress in terms of threats to withhold money and support, after your address, and after their meeting in early March.

However, I would suggest that the results of reactions against your speech will include a backlash against more Iranian sanctions here at home, and a deeper distrust of you in Israel, ahead of a crucial election for you.

Sir, I would strongly urge you to be careful about what you wish for as the outcome of this speech.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed yesterday to do everything possible to prevent world powers from reaching a “bad and dangerous deal” with Iran over its nuclear programme.

Bibi’s speech to Congress boomerangs

In the past week Dermer, Netanyahu and Boehner have overcooked this dish until it’s ruined. Instead of enlisting Democratic senators to support new sanctions on Iran, the Israeli-American scandal had the opposite result. Netanyahu managed to do the impossible: He helped Obama rehabilitate his relations with his party members in the House and Senate.

The 10 Democratic senators who were considering supporting the sanctions are now toeing the White House’s line. The new legislation was put in the freezer until after the Israeli elections. Nancy Pelosi, minority leader of the House of Representatives, called Netanyahu and suggested reconsidering delivering the speech, and a group of congressmen started petitioning members for a letter calling on Boehner to put off his invitation to Netanyahu until April, when the prime minister may no longer be politically relevant.

CIA Tried to Give Iraq Nuclear Plans, Just Like Iran

Its centerpiece legislative effort — the drive to impose new sanctions on Iran — has been frozen in place and, more importantly, the notion that support for Israel is a bipartisan issue in American politics has suffered a serious blow.

The source of the setbacks suffered by the organized Jewish community could be tracked down to one event: House Speaker John Boehner’s January 21 invitation to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak on Iran in front of a joint meeting of Congress — and Netanyahu’s acceptance of the invitation, by prearrangement — without consulting Boehner’s Democratic counterparts and without telling President Obama about his outreach to a head of state to visit. From that moment, events spiraled downward quickly, leaving the community with more questions than answers and with blame being assigned in all directions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Representative Yarmuth: there are many times when the goals and needs of the Israeli state are not the goals and needs of the American state, or its people; during those times, We the People, including those who elected you, demand your full attention, and support to, the goals and needs of the American people, particularly when they do not coincide with those of the Israeli government.

The passage of these new sanctions by Congress against Iran will be a prelude to war: you, as a logical person, have to understand that.

If Iran is attacked, one of the oldest practicing Jewish communities in the world, from the times of ancient Babylon, may well be obliterated. As an American Jew, sir, how do you feel about that?!? Are these brother and sister Jews merely "collateral damage"?!?

IF the P5+1 is unable to come to agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program, this coming war, most likely to be instigated by Israel, will draw the US in, and probably Russia and China, on the side of Iran.

I would like to politely remind you that at this point in its history, the US military does not have the troop strength; the manufacturing; or money necessary to insure a positive outcome with either Russia or China in a conventional war; and that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

Representative Yarmuth, I would very strongly caution all those who may be thinking about advocating for the passage of these sanctions on the following; please be very, very careful about what you wish for as an outcome here. The unintended consequences of such a war could be both horrific... and irreversible.

Pelosi: Netanyahu speech to Congress could wreck Iran talks on nuclear weapons

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled speech to the U.S. Congress in March could damage the Obama administration’s attempts to broker a deal with Iran on nuclear weapons development, the senior U.S. House of Representatives Democrat said on Wednesday.

“Such a presentation could send the wrong message in terms of giving diplomacy a chance,” said Representative Nancy Pelosi during a news conference on the sidelines of an annual retreat for Democratic lawmakers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As a native San Franciscan myself, Congresswoman Pelosi, I am simultaneously cringing, and wondering if you believe you should be congratulated for your magnificent grasp of the obvious.

Congresswoman Pelosi, of COURSE, that is precisely what Netanyahu will attempt to do with his joint address to Congress, then figure AIPAC will take care of the rest of the damage to American diplomacy with their usual basket of tricks. And if he and AIPAC are allowed to get away with sabotaging the P5+1 talks (to which, BTW, Israel is NOT a signatory), here is the probable outcome.

1. It will become painfully transparent, to both Americans and the world, that Israel has a stranglehold on American foreign policy; therefore, the US can no longer be perceived as an "independent, honest broker" in ANY dispute in the world, and will be shunned as a pariah.

2. The Iranian delegation will leave the peace talks permanently, understanding that it is futile to try to broker any deal with the US continuing to be held in Israel's Svengali-like grip.

3. Israel will most probably attack Iran, bringing the US military in on their side. In fact, were I a betting person, I would not bet against the possibility that Israel might attack Iran's nuclear facilities before the P5+1 talks have concluded; Superbowl Saturday, when most Americans are focused on football and food, might be

4. Hezbollah will attack Israel from the North.

5. The casualties on Israeli soil will be far higher than predicted.

6. Russia may well join Iran in their fight against the US and Israel; Russia and Iran have just signed a military "memorandum of understanding" this month.

So, in summation, unfortunately, just because leveraging more sanctions against Iran would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly counterproductive thing Congress could do at this time, is absolutely no guarantee they won't do it.

I am sure that those of you in Congress who are heavily invested in stocks in the military industrial complex will be very happy to see more sanctions go down, because, most generally, sanctions are a prelude to war.

Genocide, Iran, and the brat who cried wolf

Everyone has heard the parable of the boy who cried wolf. Yet, that hasn’t stopped Bibi and others like him from routinely making charges of anti-semitism where none exists. Now, Bibi the brat has taken it a step further with the outrageous claim that Iran is planning a genocide against “the one and only Jewish state.” Nevermind that Iran is home to 25,000 Jews who have lived there in peace for 3000 years and are determined to stay no matter what Bibi et al say.

Lebanon-Israel border quiet after Hezbollah attack

U.N. peacekeepers and Lebanese soldiers were patrolling the border with Israel Thursday, a day after Hezbollah launched a revenge attack on Israel for the recent killing of six party members and an Iranian general in Syria's Golan Heights.

The patrols came after Israel responded to the Hezbollah attack with artillery shelling on several areas of south Lebanon.

The Next War In The Middle East Has Begun And Israel Vows ‘To Act Powerfully On All Fronts’

Israel and Hezbollah are at war. On top of everything else that is going on in the world, now we have a new war in the Middle East, and nobody is quite certain what is going to happen next. Israel has been preparing for this moment for more than 8 years. So has Hezbollah. According to some reports, Hezbollah has amassed an arsenal of 50,000 rockets since the end of the Hezbollah-Israel war in 2006. If all-out warfare does erupt, we could potentially see tens of thousands of missiles rain down into an area not too much larger than the state of New Jersey. And of course the Israeli military is also much more sophisticated and much more powerful than it was back in 2006. If cooler heads do not prevail, we could be on the verge of witnessing a very bloody war. But right now nobody seems to be in the mood to back down.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would not be surprised to see Israel bomb Iran's nuclear facilities the way they did Iraq's.

Senate Dems Won’t Back Iran Sanctions for At Least Two Months

Several key Democratic Senators, including Sen. Robert Menendez (D – NJ), have announced they will withhold support for any new Iran sanctions until at least March 24, giving negotiations a chance to continue at least until then.

The March 24 date was picked as the informal deadline for a framework agreement by the P5+1 on negotiations with Iran. The lack of Democratic support essentially makes it impossible that the Senate can override a threatened presidential veto until then.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This delay has absolutely NOTHING to do with the P5+1 negotiations, and EVERYTHING to do with Netanyahu's address to a joint Congressional session in March, right before he addresses AIPAC, where he will do everything in his power to prevent the P5+1 negotiations from succeeding, as will AIPAC

Netanyahu and AIPAC want negotiations to fail; and for the US to attack and "neutralize" its alleged "existential threat" in the region, Iran, just as it did with Iraq; and we can all see, looking through the lens of hindsight, JUST HOW BRILLIANTLY THAT worked out for the US.

The delay is engineered for both Israel and AIPAC to put maximum pressure on Congress to move forward with more sanctions, and cause Iran to walk away from the negotiating table.

Please remember: your alleged Congressional representatives believe that they are infinitely more beholden to Netanyahu and AIPAC than he or she is to the people who actually elected them.

And sometimes, AIPAC can make, or break, a congressional representative; AIPAC and Netanyahu are counting on this, as they apply "leverage" toward more sanctions, and away from negotiations, in the form of a poisonous cocktail of threats, innuendo, and bribes.

In fact, right now, voters who are more than a little upset at this Israeli-sponsored agency's power over Congress (and remember; they do not have to register as a "Foreign Government Agency"), should begin a little social media blitz of their own, something like #Congress, don't drink Israel's Koolade on more Iran Sanctions!!!

Sanctions are almost, invariably, a prelude to war; and Russia and Iran have just inked a mutual military accord. War with Iran will most likely mean war with Russia, and possibly, China.

Iran warns US of 'consequences' for Israeli attack

Iran has told the United States that Israel should expect consequences for an attack on the Syrian-controlled Golan Heights that killed an Iranian general, a senior official said Tuesday.

Israel has not officially acknowledged carrying out the attack, but was already warned last week of an eventual response.

Tell Congress not to attend Netanyahu’s speech

Join us in raising our voices to protest Netanyahu’s speech, not because it’s a partisan snub, nor because the date is close to the Israeli elections, but because Netanyahu is going to Washington to undermine the U.S. strategy of diplomacy with Iran.

Instead of letting diplomacy work, Netanyahu wants the U.S. to impose harsher sanctions on Iran, all but ensuring that talks collapse and increasing the risk of war.

Raise your voice now and tell Congress to boycott Netanyahu’s speech:

Israel’s Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer defended on Sunday Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned speech before the US Congress on March 3, just two weeks before Israeli national elections, saying it was the prime minister’s “sacred duty” to present his stance on Iran — a stance sharply at odds with the Obama administration.

It Is Time For Iran To Tell The West ‘Goodbye’

From all appearances, the Obama regime’s negotiations with Iran, overseen by Russia, were on the verge of ending the contrived nuclear issue. An end to the confrontation is unacceptable to the Zionist Israeli government and to their neocon agents in America. The Republicans, a political party owned lock, stock, and barrel by the Israel Lobby, hastily invited Netanyahu, the crazed ruler of both Israel and America, to quickly come to tell the Republican Congress, which the insouciant American voters put in place, how to prohibit any accommodation with Iran.

Defiant Netanyahu to Obama: I will go anywhere to warn about nuclear Iran

Israel's Prime Minister on Sunday said openly and loudly that he will go anywhere in the world that he is invited to speak about the clear and present danger posed by Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons and the threat to Israel, the United States and European nations posed by radical Islam, according to the Middle Eastern news agencies. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a former officer with the Israeli special forces, while not mentioning names left the impression he was referring to his controversial upcoming visit to the United States.

Netanyahu claims speech to US Congress is ‘anti-Iran strategy,’ not presidential snub

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended on Sunday a planned speech to the U.S. Congress about Iran, saying he had a moral obligation to take every opportunity to speak out on an issue that poses a mortal threat to his country.

His visit to Washington in March has opened up a political rift in the United States and has drawn accusations in Israel that Netanyahu is undermining a strategic alliance to win an election due two weeks after the trip.

Briefing his cabinet on the speech to be made on March 3 to a joint meeting of Congress, Netanyahu said his priority was to urge the United States and other powers not to negotiate an Iranian nuclear deal that might endanger Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Prime Minister, this statement is grade-A, select-quality bovine excrement and you know it.

Iran hasn't begone a war in over 200 years; one certainly cannot say that with a straight face about Israel.

You goals are very simple, but amazingly transparent; to neuter the President's foreign policy goals in Iran; to cause Congress to cave to a foreign country in its actions regarding Iran; and to convince the Israeli voters that you still have the US government firmly by the "short and curlies".

And I hope you fail, miserably, because, as you are well aware, additional sanctions against Iran will cause them to leave the P5+1 negotiations. This, may well, cause Iranian legislators to believe that their only course of action is to develop an atomic bomb, and quickly, as a defense against an attack by Israel.

And sir, I will tell you: the American people have no stomach for yet another war in the Middle East to "neutralize" yet another of Israel's alleged "existential enemies", fought and paid for by American taxpayers, because they can see, very clearly, how US military action in Iraq,(not to mention Afghanistan, Libya, and Yemen) have failed catastrophically.

If Israel begins a war with Iran, and pulls the US along with it, you will see an outpouring of pro-peace, anti-Israeli rhetoric in this country the likes of which you have never seen in the history of Israel.

Sir,criticizing the government of Israel when it is doing something absolutely morally wrong is not anti-Semitic, but the absolutely correct action to take, as it would be with any other country with a bloodthirst for starting wars, and expanding territory to which they legally and morally hold no legitimate claim.

Netanyahu and ‘the Big Lie’

With the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) acceptance of Palestine as a member, and its agreement to investigate possible Israeli war crimes during last summer’s brutal bombardment of the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Murderer Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be having fits of rage. His puppet, the United States government, has also denounced the Court’s decisions, and Mr. Netanyahu has made the following bizarre statements:

* “It’s absurd for the ICC to go after Israel, which upholds the highest standards of international law. Our actions are subject to the constant and careful review of Israel’s world-renowned and utterly independent legal system.”

* “But this decision is even more preposterous given that Israel is legitimately defending itself against Palestinian terrorists who routinely commit multiple war crimes. They deliberately fire thousands of rockets at our civilians, while hiding behind Palestinian civilians whom they use a human shield.”

Greater Israel: Netanyahu Seeks to Turn US Congress Against Elected American President

The current Congress follows the agenda of AIPAC – the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (a pretentious title for a political lobby group). AIPAC, in turn, is controlled and financed by pro-Israel supporters and they take their lead from the Likud policy agenda of Israel’s Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu.

If this is difficult to believe, then watch Binyamin Netanyahu, in March, as he ‘struts and frets his hour upon the stage’ in an attempt to orchestrate world affairs to suit his own agenda whilst humiliating the elected President of the United States before an AIPAC-controlled Congress to which he (Netanyahu) has been invited to address without prior White House knowledge or approval.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What the author of this article conveniently forgets is that many of Congress' most powerful Democratic leaders are also strong supporters of AIPAC.

And I have an open note to President Obama.

Sir, we disagree on many issues. My arguments, as a Christian pacifist are, generally, logical, and noted with some reasonable degree of precision and documentation.

I abhor ad hominem attacks, as I think they are both "dirty pool", as well as being non-productive.

But there is one thing upon which you and I do agree, mightily, and that is a need for a positive relationship with Iran regarding its nuclear energy program, which the P5+1 group are desperately working to finalize.

It is not accidental that Netanyahu is coming here in March. This is the time of the annual AIPAC conference, and shortly before the Israeli elections.

And THAT, sir, is the point of his addressing both houses of Congress, particularly on the issue of Iran's nuclear program.

IF Israeli voters see that he is able to deter Congress from allowing these negotiations to move forward by placing more sanctions against Iran, causing it to walk away from the negotiating table, it will make him more attractive to them as a political leader.

This is highly dangerous, not only for the people of Israel, but also for the world in general.

But IF Netanyahu is successful in accomplishing this, it will be a complete, and painfully public, geopolitical "neutering" of you and your agenda for the rest of your term in office.

Sir, there have been rumors of your being "furious" at Netanyahu's acceptance of Boehner's invitation to address Congress, and that there "will be costs" to the US/Israeli relationship.

But Sir, precisely what are those "costs" going to be? You need to think about this very carefully, because the only thing Netanyahu understands is hard-ball.

Should Netanyahu's meddling in US foreign policy bring about his desired outcome, the following should happen, and immediately after it happens.

1. All financial and military aid to Israel should stop, and immediately.
2. All US military should be removed from Israel.
3. All US military equipment should be removed from Israel
4. Sanctions should be immediately be placed against Israeli banks and corporations.

But the big issue here, Mr. President, is preventing Netanyahu from trying to influence US foreign policy before that over-ride vote on your veto is taken. Making him know that the above will happen, and that there is no mistake that it will happen, if your veto is overturned.

Because you know what will happen if this veto is not allowed to stand: Israel will go to war against Iran, and drag the US, kicking and screaming, right along with them. Of course, Russia has just signed a military agreement with Iran, meaning that if there is an attack against Iran, Russia might well join the fray on Iran's side.

And in closing this, Mr. President, I would very strongly like to caution you that capitulating to Bibi Netanyahu on this will cause history to judge you harshly as the 21st century's Neville Chamberlain, embracing a "Pax Israelica" which will translate into infinitely more bloodshed in the Middle East, and beyond.

The very stark choice, sir, is yours.

Obama won’t meet Netanyahu during ‘bizarre,’ ‘historic,’ ‘unprecedented’ visit

White House and State Department won’t meet with Netanyahu on his March visit to address both houses of Congress. Emergency Committee for Israel calls this a snub.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree with Obama on this one. Netanyahu and Boehner are trying to hijack the AMERICAN Congress to serve Israel's agenda. Obama knows that war with Iran means war with Russia and while a degree of conflict is desired to forestall the rise of the Ruble, all-out war will cost millions of lives and there is the real possibility the US will lose.

Israel, like the bankers, doesn't care who wins or loses so long as their personal wealth and power are elevated in the process. Obama, in his final two years in office and no longer dependent on Israeli support for future elections, seems to be looking at the situation from the point of view of the US, and that is a good thing!

Israel’s Netanyahu Was Imported by GOP to Ensure a War with Iran

Republican House Majority leader John Boehner secretly invited Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Washington to address Congress and then once it was set up he let Barack Obama know about it.

The reason for bringing Netanyahu is that Boehner wants to craft a super-majority in Congress that can over-ride Obama’s veto of new sanctions on Iran. He doesn’t have enough Republican votes to do so, but if he can get Democrats beholden to the Israel lobbies of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee to join the veto over-ride effort, he might succeed.

John Boehner invites Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday to address a joint meeting of Congress on Feb. 11.

“In this time of challenge, I am asking the prime minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life,” Boehner said in a statement.

The invitation came a day after U.S. President Barack Obama said in his State of the Union address he would veto legislation that toughens sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to John Boehner: forgive me, sir, but how in the name of Heaven does Iran pose a grave threat to the lives of Americans, or Israelis, for that matter?!?!?

Iran hasn't started a war in over 200 years, and their negotiators at the P5+1 meetings are working, to the best of the IAEA's understanding, to achieve a meaningful, workable pact with the West on their nuclear energy program.

I would also like to mention that Iran has one of the oldest continuing Jewish populations in the Middle East, and many of them are so contented in Iran, that they have no desire to move to Israel.

I would strongly suggest that you view the video "Don't Tell Mother I'm In Iran", filmed by a charming young videographer, who meets with Jewish members of the Iranian community in Tehran, including a merchant who is himself a member of Iran's Parliament.

Sir, Prime Minister Netanyahu has not been shy on demanding that the US invade Iran and "neutralize" the country for Israel's benefit, without the IDF lifting a finger.

I would, very strongly suggest that if Netanyahu wishes Iran to be "neutralized", that the Israeli military is strong enough to take care of that on their own.

And JUST IN CASE you did not get the memo (as I did, this morning, websurfing the news), Russia has just signed a military pact with Iran. This means that a US invasion against Iran will mean war with Russia.

So sir, do you have the gall to state, bluntly and publicly to the American people, that we have the troop strength, the money, and the manufacturing, to insure a positive outcome to such a conventional war against Russia?!?

Were you telling the truth, I don't think you would be so brazen as to answer the above questions with an uniquivocal, difinitive "yes".

Russia signs military cooperation deal with Iran

Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday signed a military cooperation deal with Iran that his Iranian counterpart touted as a joint response to US "interference".

Shoigu is the most senior Russian military official to visit Tehran since 2002, according to Iranian media, and the agreement comes with both countries facing western sanctions.

The deal provides for joint exercises and military training, as well as "cooperation in peacekeeping, maintaining regional and international security and stability, and fighting against separatism and extremism," the Iranian defence ministry website said.

Defence minister Hossein Dehqan told state television that Iran and Russia had a "shared analysis of US global strategy, its interference in regional and international affairs and the need to cooperate in the struggle against the interference of foreign forces in the region."

Senators unveil more toned down Iran sanctions bill

Supporters of Iran sanctions in the US Senate have unveiled a toned-down bill aimed at gaining enough votes to override a presidential veto.

President Barack Obama has argued forcefully against any new measures against the Islamic Republic, saying Iran was already chafing under existing sanctions and imposing new ones could torpedo ongoing talks on an agreement to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear bomb, a goal it denies having.

On Thursday, the Senate banking committee will discuss and vote on the re-jigged bill proposed by Republican Mark Kirk and Democrat Robert Menedez, two senators who have sponsored previous sanctions bills.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Leave it to massively AIPAC SUPPORTED Senators to lead the charge on this. And just for the record, to be clear, from maplight.org:

Top Senate Recipients Funded, in a time period from 7/2008 through 6/2014

Recipient Amount
Mark Kirk $643,598
Top Senate Recipients Funded

Recipient Amount

Mark Kirk $643,598
Mitch McConnell $400,022
Robert Menendez $341,170

Such sanctions are engineered to completely destroy the progress made at the P5+1 meetings with Iran to date, and cause Iran to walk away from the negotiating table, which is Israel's desire.

And why?!? To have the US declare war on Iran, so that its alleged "mortal enemy" in the middle east would be "neutralized" without Israel lifting a finger; to have America's kids fighting, dying, and getting maimed for life rather than their own.

There is, however, one infinitesimal, teensy, tinsy fly in the ointment with this scenario, however; and that is Russia.

Russian leadership, both civilian and military, has been very blunt on this issue. As quoted at washingtonsblog.com,from Dimitri Rogozin, in January, 2012:

" “Should Anything Happen to Iran … This Will Be a Direct Threat to Our National Security”. “Iran is our close neighbor, just south of the Caucasus. Should anything happen to Iran, should Iran get drawn into any political or military hardships, this will be a direct threat to our national security,” stressed Rogozin.

So I would like to suggest to Senators Kirk and Menendez that going to war against Iran may well mean going to war against Russia; and there is no guarantee that such a military confrontation would have a positive outcome for the US, because US military doesn't have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure such an outcome; that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

But there is one bet about these gentlemen I would almost be willing to make; they have no close family currently serving in the US military.

Were I able to introduce a Constitutional Amendment, it would be this; all running for Senate, Congress,President, or Vice-President should have one close family member joining the military right before they announce their run, in units which see combat on a regular basis.

Folks, THAT would greatly change the way the US government handles international kerfluffles; I would almost guarantee it!!

Because when you have family in the military, it's personal how this country resolves its international differences.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined that Tehran would revive and speed up its nuclear activities, including its enrichment program, in case the US refrains from removing all the sanctions against Iran under a final deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The western media is already screaming that Iran is being "provocative", but under the P5+1 preliminary deal, Iran would reduce enrichment and the US would ease sanctions. Iran kept their word and reduced enrichment and the US, goaded by Israel-firster members of Congress, not only did not ease sanctions; they increased them! So, from Iran's point of view, the US broke the deal. This is nothing new as both Iran and the US signed and ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Deal. The story is this. The CIA drew up plans for a key part of a nuclear bomb (what a CIA officer on Wednesday described in his testimony as "the crown jewels" of a nuclear weapons program), inserted flaws in the plans, and then had a Russian give those flawed plans to Iran.

During the trial on Wednesday morning, the prosecution's witnesses made clear both that aiding Iran in developing a part of a bomb would be illegal under U.S. export control laws, and that they were aware at the time that there was the possibility of what they were doing constituting just such aid.

So, why do it?

Russia and China: The Dawning of a New Monetary System?

China, leading member of the BRICS, is lining up the bloc of the BRICS and that of the SCO – and their currencies – to support Russia in need. Currency swaps between Russia (ruble) and China (yuan) for an initial US$ 25 billion equivalent have already been implemented, to allow direct transactions between the two countries. Similar swaps are under way between China and Russia with other countries, primarily the BRICS and the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) members – including the soon to become new members – Iran, Pakistan, India (also a BRICS member) and Mongolia – and possibly in some not too distant future also strategically located NATO member Turkey.

Iran-Backed Militias Are Getting U.S. Weapons

U.S. weapons intended for Iraq’s beleaguered military are winding up in the possession of the country’s Shiite militias, according to U.S. lawmakers and senior officials in the Barack Obama administration. These sources say that the Baghdad government, which was granted $1.2 billion in training and equipment aid in the omnibus spending bill passed last month, is turning hardware over to Shiite militias that are heavily influenced by Iran and have been guilty of gross human-rights violations.

The greatest trick Obama ever pulled was convincing the world America isn’t still at war

The holiday headlines blared without a hint of distrust: “End of War” and “Mission Ends” and “U.S. formally ends the war in Afghanistan,” as the U.S. government and Nato celebrated the alleged end of the longest war in American history. Great news! Except, that is, when you read past the first paragraph: “the fighting is as intense as it has ever been since the U.S.-led invasion in 2001,” according to the Wall Street Journal . And about 10,000 troops will remain there for the foreseeable future (more than we had a year after the Afghan war started ). Oh, and they’ll continue to engage in combat regularly . But other than that, yeah, the war is definitely over.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And I can nearly guarantee you; the current wars are prologue for future wars, potentially against China and Russia to prevent the end of dominance by the US dollar.

The US government is financially on the ropes, and the only way the members of this government have known, historically, to get off those ropes, is to wage war.

This country experienced two massive depressions, followed, inevitably by war. Although the presstitutes dare not mention it, we are in another massive recession right now, because all the decently paying jobs, which used to support this country's middle class, have been offshored/outsourced to places with nearly slave labor wages.

And please, if you don't believe me, take a look at this; last year, Charlie Rangel, the senior Congressional Representative from New York, introduced a bill to reinstate the draft; but this time, should this be passed, it will be coming for both our sons and our daughters. When last I checked this month, it is still in Committee, waiting for the "right emotional moment" to be passed.

US Slaps Iran With New Sanctions Unrelated to Nuclear Program: US Treasury

“Although we do not support the imposition of any new nuclear-related sanctions while negotiations are ongoing, throughout the JPOA [Joint Plan of Action] period we have made clear, by word and deed, that we will continue to enforce our existing sanctions,” Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at US Treasury David Cohen said.

Five individuals and one entity have been subjected to new sanctions for assisting the Iranian government in purchasing or acquiring US banknotes. Two Iranian companies, Abyssec and Douran Software Technologies, were targeted for allegedly helping Tehran dodge US sanctions and supporting human rights-related abusers.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That last statement is really rich: "...and supporting human rights abusers."

Undersecretary Cohen might well have swallowed those words, before uttering them in public, in light of the highly redacted summary of the US government's report on torture against prisoners of war, which has been recently revealed to not only US citizens, but also to the world.

Between this, and the Senate's talking about laying down more sanctions against Iran with an alleged "veto proof" majority, it appears that this country is doing everything in its power to insure that Iran walks away from negotiations, then claim it's Iran's fault for leaving.

That clears the way for a US/Israeli attack against it, which is precisely the outcome Israel wants.

Or better yet, from Tel Aviv's perspective, make it a completely an American campaign, so that no members of the IDF get killed, or maimed for life.

Russian leadership, both diplomatic and military, have very bluntly stated that they will consider any attack against Iran to be an attack on the interests of Russia.

I would like to politely point out to those precious few adults in the room in the bowels of power in DC, that the US military does not have the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia; and that is what makes a military scenario here so scarily dangerous.

And to those in Tel Aviv advocating for such a scenario, I would strongly caution you to rethink. Should Iran be attacked, Hezbullah may very well attack Israel from the north,, and the casualty figures may be catastrophically higher than what your military planners have told you.

The P5+1 talks are the world's best bet for stabilizing the region. The Iranian leadership may be many things, but stupid is not one of them.Even dealing with the hardline reactionaries, the current government, I believe, truly wants to see these negotiations succeed.

Sabotaging these talks would be the most pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid thing the US government could possibly do right now; and yet, it appears that this is precisely what these actions are engineered to do.

Iran denies ‘tentative uranium agreement’ with US

Washington and Tehran came a step closer to agreeing on shipping part of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile to Russia, AP reported on Friday, citing diplomatic sources. However, Iran denied that any such agreement took place.

According to two diplomatic sources who spoke to the Associated Press, the December round of nuclear talks produced a “catalogue of areas of potential accord”, while outlining differing approaches to remaining stick points.

One of the breakthroughs, sources say, comes as Iran allegedly “tentatively agreed” to transport a large portion of its uranium stockpile to Russia for conversion into reactor fuel.

However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denied reports that it has agreed with the US on the list of nuclear materials to be delivered to Russia. On Friday, Iran's foreign ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said "no agreement on any nuclear topic" had taken place.

Obama cannot use ‘veto pen’ on Iran sanctions: Sen. Rubio

Rubio, a Republican from Florida and potential contender for 2016 presidential election, says it is within Obama’s powers to obstruct the movement of legislation in Congress but not when it comes to Iran.

“There are some bills where I think he won't be able to do that on — for example, sanctions on Iran. I think we'll have a supermajority, a veto-proof majority to impose additional sanctions on Iran and to require the administration to come before Congress for approval of any deal that he has with Iran,” the senator said in an interview with NPR News.

Asked whether he would impose additional sanctions on Tehran in the midst of nuclear talks even if the move would destroy the prospect of a deal, Rubio said, “yes, because I don't believe there is a prospect for a deal with Iran.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It remains to be seen if Rubio can actually achieve a veto-proof majority on these additional sanctions against Iran.

But should this law be passed, it will force Iran away from the P5+1 talks completely, which is why these sanctions have been engineered to cause the talks to fail.

Iranian leadership is many things, but irrational is not one of them.

Additionally, Iran has not started any wars in the last 200 years; neither the US nor Israeli officials can say that with a straight face.

WHO IS THE THREAT TO WORLD PEACE? CHRISTIANS, JEWS, OR MUSLIMS (The US, Israel, or Iran)!

Since the 1979 Iranian revolution and the downfall of the US Puppet Ruler the Shah, Iran has been an Islamic state. In that interval of time, 1979 to the present, Iran has not invaded anyone. Not once. In fact Iran has not launched a war of aggression against another nation in 200 years. War is not their nature. People of all religions live in peace in Iran, even Jews, who find life so comfortable in Iran they refused an offer by the government of Israel to emigrate!

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am reposting this article because as word comes down that Obama may reopen the US embassy in Tehran, the promoters of war are already screaming again that Iran is just two months away from a nuclear bomb, a claim they have been making since the 1980s, even though the IAEA acknowledges that Iran has complied with the preliminary P5+1 agreement regarding their nuclear technology.

President Obama Defends Iran Nuclear Deal to Israeli Policy Forum

President Obama said today “We don’t know yet” whether the agreement reached with Iran last month will succeed in keeping the country from producing nuclear weapons, but he asserted that there are “unprecedented” fail-safe mechanisms to keep the agreement from failing, as others have in the past.

The president defended the deal today at a Mideast policy conference, where he was asked what made the sweeping, if tentative pact — which Israel opposed — “different” from the failed nuclear agreements pursued by Presidents Reagan with Pakistan and Clinton with North Korea.

“Well, we don’t know yet. We don’t know yet.” Obama said at the Brookings Institute’s Saban Forum. “I think it’s important for everybody to understand: This is hard, because the technology of the nuclear cycle you can get off the Internet. The knowledge of creating a nuclear weapon is already out there.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is getting interesting. It looks like Israel's push for a US invasion of Iran is starting to falter!

UPDATE: FOX News is pushing the claim that Iran could build a nuclear bomb in as little as two months. The US media and Israel have been making that claim since the 1980s.

IAEA: Iran honoring nuclear deal with P5+1

Iran is honoring the interim nuclear agreement reached last year with the P5+1 world powers, according to a confidential International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report.

The document, obtained by Reuters Friday, showed that Tehran was not enriching uranium above a five percent concentration, and that it has not made “any further advances” at two enrichment facilities and a heavy water reactor which was under construction.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US committed to reducing sanctions against Iran, but has failed to do so, and pro-Israel congressmen are preparing to pass more sanctions against Iran next month, even though the P5+1 talks are continuing, and as IAEA points out, Iran is keeping their promises.

Republican Senate Eyes Veto-Proof New Iran Sanctions

Despite President Obama’s promise to veto any bill that threatens the ongoing P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran, the incoming Republican Senate continues to talk up imposing new sanctions on Iran, putting the US in violation of the interim agreement and likely blowing up the talks.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R – IL) says he has assurances from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R – KY) that the second vote of the new Senate will be a round of sanctions against Iran.

Obama’s pledge to veto such a sanctions bill does not seem to be stopping Sen. Kirk and others, who say they believe they can must enough Democratic votes to get a veto-proof majority through.

The interim nuclear deal has the US and other P5+1 members offering minor sanctions relief in return for Iran limiting uranium enrichment. The talks have been extended, and the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed Iran is in compliance with the deal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having an industrial-strength, palm to forehead moment upon reading this, and my first thought, after having digested it, is a phrase frequently used by the American comedian Ron White: "you can't fix stupid!"

A reasonable, hard-fought negotiation, leading to a nuclear energy treaty with Iran, will help stabilize both the region, and the world.

And I am sorry: if Senator Kirk insists on consistently putting the needs and concerns of a foreign government (that of Israel) over and above the needs and concerns of his own constituents (who most likely would want to see a reasonable, working treaty with Iran), to the point of risking war with Russia over Iran, perhaps he should retire from the Senate, move to Israel, and run for the Knesset.

I understand that there are snap elections on the way in Israel very soon!! :-)
