Activist convicted of election fraud in Berrien County

A Benton Township political activist with prior election-related convictions is looking at several years in prison after being convicted Monday of five election fraud felonies.

Edward Pinkney was found guilty by a Berrien County jury after nine hours of deliberations for changing the dates on petitions from a failed recall attempt against Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower. He was acquitted of six misdemeanors after being accused of letting several people sign petitions more than once.
