Michael Bloomberg knighted by the Queen - just don't call him Sir Mike

Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire philanthropist and former mayor of New York, has been made an honorary knight by the Queen.

The 72-year-old American was knighted in honour of his "prodigious entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavours", the British embassy announced.

Mr Bloomberg, a well-known Anglophile with a £12 million house in Knightsbridge's Cadogan Square, will not be able to style himself "Sir Mike" because he is not a British citizen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How about 'Sir Asshole?"

Technically, he can be called "Sir Michael" while on British soil. Good reason for him to move there.
