Atlanta, GA - Jewish Newspaper Apologizes for Obama Assassination Scenario; Secret Service Investigates

The owner of a Jewish newspaper in Atlanta has said he deeply regrets writing a column suggesting that Israel consider “a hit” on Barack Obama if he stands in the way of the Jewish state defending itself.

Andrew Adler told the Guardian he wrote the column in the weekly Atlanta Jewish Times “to get a reaction” from the paper’s readers.

“The headline for the column was: ‘What would you do?’ That’s what I wanted to see,” he said. “It’s got like a Dr Phil reaction: what were you thinking? I feel really bad it did that.”

The column, first brought to light by Gawker, asks readers to imagine that they are the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, confronting the threat posed by Hezbollah and Iran’s nuclear programme while also under pressure from a US president with an “Alice in Wonderland” belief in diplomacy over force.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I do not believe for a moment that Netanyahu and his cabinet have not considered a decapitation strike against Obama as an option. Some scholars suspect Israeli involvement with the John F. Kennedy assassination, owing to Kennedy's opposition to Israel's acquiring nuclear weapons.

Their sole consideration would be how Israel could get away with it, then blame it on another country.

And with "friends" like Israel....who needs enemies?!?

Texas Hospital Changes Ebola Patient Account

A day after saying that doctors didn’t receive a Liberian patient’s travel history due to an electronics records glitch, the Dallas hospital that initially failed to admit the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S. has changed its version of events, stating that information that he had come from Africa was in fact available to doctors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Every time they change the story is further erodes public trust that the government has a handle on this crisis. This is feeling more and more like a repeat of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, the Gulf Oil Disaster, etc. in which the government is to totally focused on creating fake crisis to get our votes, money, and obedience, they are unable to deal with a real emergency.

CDC chief on Ebola: We can’t shut the border

Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Friday said restricting travel between the U.S. and West Africa would likely “backfire” and put Americans more at risk of contracting Ebola.

Appearing on MSNBC, Frieden was asked about potentially prohibiting air travel between the U.S. and West Africa, where the Ebola outbreak is most widespread. He said that such a restriction would likely be ineffective and would make it harder for health officials to root out the virus.

“The only way we’re going to get to zero risk is by stopping the outbreak at the source” in West Africa, Frieden said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Stopping the outbreak at the source sounds great; but do we leave US citizens hostage to more ebola infections in the meanwhile?!?

Because by not stopping flights out of some of the most hard hit countries in Africa, that is precisely what this government is doing.

I do not know if this is standard US governmental incompetence, or something else.

But I do know one thing: if there is one more ebola infection confirmed in the US, this man needs to be sacked and immediately.

Who Will Profit From the Wars in Iraq and Syria?

If there's one thing we should have learned over the past 13 years of war, it's that war is good business for those in the business of war. Unfortunately, while profits for the Pentagon's contractors increase, so does the cost to taxpayers in billions in waste, fraud, and abuse. As America embarks on yet another war in the Middle East, Congress needs to act now to stop this unjustified bonanza for the Pentagon's contractors.

The most recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan offer an ominous example about what can happen when the rush to war is met with sharp spending increases coupled with little to no oversight or fiscal restraint. The Commission on Wartime Contracting -- a bipartisan congressional body -- estimates that there was $30 to $60 billion in waste, fraud and abuse associated with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- a total of $12 million per day. Even worse, at least $6 billion is completely missing, never accounted for, gone forever.

Did America Fake Imminent Terror Threats To Justify Bombing Syria?

The claim has recently been made that the Obama administration concocted not only the imminent attacks on U.S. soil by the al-Qaeda cell The Khorasan Group, but the group itself, in order to make a case for self-defense and justify the bombing of Syria.

As outlandish as it may first appear that America would create a fictitious attack to justify its own attack, there is a pattern of just such fictions stretching back to nearly the very beginning of America’s wars.

President James Polk led America into one of its first foreign wars when he informed the congress that Mexico had attacked a U.S. Army detachment on American soil. In 1848, Abraham Lincoln, then a congressman, would make one of his first appearances in American history by standing up on the floor and demanding that the President inform the House of the exact spot upon which the attack took place. Polk would not answer. That first fictitious attack would justify the war with Mexico.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US government routinely lies as the justification to start its wars, which means at this point in its history, it has completely delegitimized itself, and anything it says on any subject cannot be trusted at all.

The US government no longer governs with the consent of the governed; the governed have had no real say in the workings of the US government for quite some time now.

The US government only listens to the major corporations which fund election cycles, but the the people of this country have become expendable, redundant, and useless, in the eyes of this government.

It is high time that this changes, in the most peaceful way possible.

Ferguson Protesters Outfitted In Orange Jumpsuits And Jailed With High Bail (UPDATE)

More than a dozen people arrested during protests outside the Ferguson Police Department early Friday were outfitted with orange prison jumpsuits, slapped with high bail and locked behind bars for hours longer than most others arrested in earlier demonstrations against the police shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

The 13 protestors, including many seized while standing on the sidewalk, were arrested by police officers from St. Louis County Police and Missouri State Highway Patrol and were jailed in nearby St. Ann. Video of the arrests show protestors on the sidewalk, and not blocking the street, when officers moved in. They were charged with offenses that included failure to comply with police, noise ordinance violations and resisting arrest.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh, this is REALLY going to help mend race relations in Ferguson...NOT!!

It appears that the city, country, and police are doing everything possible to exacerbate the situation here, rather than ratchet down the tension, and almost feels.....deliberate.

But the big problems here are poverty, despair, and hopelessness. As reported in www.areavibes.com:

The income per capita in Ferguson is 8.1% less than the Missouri average and 20.5% less than the National average. The median household income in Ferguson is 16.2% less than the Missouri average and 29% less than the National average. The poverty level in Ferguson is 13.1% less than the Missouri average and 5.9% less than the National average. The median earnings for males in Ferguson is 46.1% greater than the median earnings for females in Ferguson.

Decent jobs, paying a livable wage, coupled with education, could make a tremendous difference here.

But unfortunately, creating situations where that could actually happen are very low on both the State's and Federal Government's agenda.

And until this happens, Furgeson, and all the small, poor towns like it in this country, will remain powder kegs, ready to erupt when the tragedy of another poor, unarmed African American kid gets blown away by another cop happens.

Call of Duty Director: US Troops Should Occupy Public Schools

A former writer and director behind the successful Call of Duty video game franchise recently expressed his desire to see American soldiers patrolling the hallways of public schools in the near future.

On Wednesday, nonresident fellow Dave Anthony at a recent meeting with the globalist Atlantic Council said it was necessary to have the military stationed at schools to combat the threat posed by Islamic terrorists, whom he claimed could already be working inside America.

“It could be that you have 100 of these guys who may be on our soil right now, who may even be U.S. citizens, who could legally walk into whatever gun store they choose, buy some assault rifles, and start attacking soft targets,” Anthony said, adding a jab at the Second Amendment.

“The threat now, the invasion, comes from within,” Anthony told the Council, adding he envisioned “the soldiers could operate like air marshals on commercial flights,” according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely not!!

The "cure" for this would be massive numbers of Americans deciding to home school their kids, and this is an outcome which I think would be very reasonable if these protocols are adopted nationally.

I would also like to remind to Mr. Anthony that the vast preponderance of school shootings have been done by people on - or just trying to get off - antidepressants, so there are chemical triggers to this behaviour which need to be addressed.

What Civilian Casualties? To Barack Obama, Women And Children In Syria And Iraq Are A Subhuman Species

One former Obama administration official said the new White House statement raises questions about how the U.S. intends to proceed in the conflict in Syria and Iraq, and under what legal authorities.

Wait, someone actually wondered under what legal authority the Obama administration is killing innocent people? How dare they: don't they know Obama has a Nobel peace prize, so none of his actions are subject to any scrutiny: surely the president himself is his own best moral censor.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am deeply concerned that these strikes, which are both deeply immoral and illegal in the extreme, are going to a larger regional war which, at some point, will include Russia.

As an American who cares deeply about the future road her country is taking, I cannot support them at all. All people in the world should have the right to peaceful self-determination.

But then again, in the grand scheme of things which originate in Sodom on the Potomac, this may be precisely the plan by those in the bowels of power in DC: a regional war which ultimately leads to war with Russia.

I would very politely like to point out that there is no guarantee of a positive outcome to such a war with Russia, because the US military doesn't have the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure such an outcome.

And that is what makes the military scenario so scarily dangerous.

Judge orders release of Guantanamo videotapes

A federal judge on Friday ordered the public release of 28 videotapes of a hunger-striking Guantanamo Bay prisoner strike being forcibly removed from his cell and force-fed.

Lawyers for the prisoner, Abu Wa'el Dhiab, have challenged his treatment as abusive.

Numerous news media outlets, including The Associated Press, had asked the court on June 20 to unseal the videotapes, which are classified "secret."

Ebola patient's family moved to undisclosed location

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins escorted Duncan's family out of the apartment Friday afternoon personally, while wearing no protective gear in an effort to show the public that the family is healthy and there is no reason for concern.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So they are making decisions based on public relations rather than science. That is a recipe for disaster!

Meanwhile I want to know if the Duncan family had a dog and where that dog is, and especially if the dog was allowed to wander the neighborhood after being exposed to Thomas Duncan. According to the CDC, dogs can carry the Ebola virus and be infectious but show no symptoms of being ill. If Duncan's family has a dog, and that dog acquired Ebola, then spread it to other dogs in the neighborhood, then we are looking at a major vector for the spread of the disease. Remember that it was rats (specifically the fleas on them) that were the major carrier of Bubonic plaque across Europe ... and people are much more friendly with dogs than rats!

LDS missionaries evacuated due to Ebola outbreak safely underway to new assignments

All LDS missionaries serving in the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in west Africa have safely left Sierra Leone and Liberia, according to an update released Wednesday by the church.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Friday that it was evacuating 274 missionaries serving in those two nations. The missionaries are being transferred to new assignments in other countries.

The update said many of the missionaries will be traveling over the next few days and will call their families when they arrive in their new locations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WITHOUT A 21 DAY QUARANTINE FIRST?!?

Are they out of their minds?!? With 274 Missionaries, there is a good chance one or more might be infected, and remember that the standard Ebola test won't show an infection until the patients have actually been symptomatic for three days or more!

According to this article, two of the missionaries died from the disease!

Now in this case they lucked out because it has been more than 21 days, but someone was taking a heck of a reckless chance!

The list of current LDS Missions includes Canada and the US!

Dallas Paramedic Slams Health Officials; Was Not Informed Of Ebola Diagnosis; Drove Contaminated Ambulance For 2 Days

Paramedics who attended to the Ebola diagnosed patient in Dallas were not contacted by hospital officials, local or state health officials, or the CDC to inform them that they were driving around in an ambulance that could be contaminated with the infectious virus.

According to a report by Breitbart News, one of the paramedics himself says that it was not until 48 hours after he had transported Thomas Duncan to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital that he was informed that he could be driving around in an Ebola contaminated death trap.

“[It was] 48 hours later before they finally took the ambulance out of service,” said Dallas Paramedic Geoffrey Aklinski in a discussion on Facebook, referring to the September 28th incident when Duncan was picked up, violently vomiting, at his apartment.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The NSA and Me

For several years I had been working on my first book, The Puzzle Palace, which provided the first in-depth look at the National Security Agency. The deeper I dug, the more troubled I became. Not only did the classified file from the Justice Department accuse the NSA of systematically breaking the law by eavesdropping on American citizens, it concluded that it was impossible to prosecute those running the agency because of the enormous secrecy that enveloped it. Worse, the file made clear that the NSA itself was effectively beyond the law—allowed to bypass statutes passed by Congress and follow its own super-classified charter, what the agency called a “top-secret birth certificate” drawn up by the White House decades earlier.

353 US Reps to Kerry: Iran 'Stonewalling' on Nuke Detonator

In a stunning bi-partisan “Congressional Letter” from over 353 out of 435 U.S. congresspersons to US Secretary of State John Kerry, the 353 U.S. representatives issued a stark warning that, “As you wrote in the Washington Post earlier this summer, if Iran’s nuclear program is truly peaceful, “it’s not a hard proposition to prove. The only reasonable conclusion for its stonewalling of international investigators is that Tehran does indeed have much to hide.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

That Iran may have things they wish to hide seems reasonable. Look how much the US Government is hiding, for example Fast and Furious. Or IRS-gate. But Fast and Furious and Presidential scandals are not about nuclear weapons, and the fact that Iran might choose to keep some of their secrets from spying eyes does not prove those secrets are necessarily nuclear. The available evidence suggests that the facility at Parchin is engaged in making artificial micro-diamonds, a technology worth a great deal of money to anyone who could successfully steal it.

Israel, of course, actually does have nuclear weapons, and was caught trying to sell a clandestine nuclear weapon to the former government of South Africa, the very activity the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is intended to stop. Of course, while Iran has signed the NNPT and abides by its rules, Israel refuses to sign the NNPT and will not allow any IAEA inspections at all. Israel is a proven aggressor nation, standing in stark contrast with Iran, which has not initiated a war of conquest against a neighboring nation in over 200 years. Shame on those 435 members of Congress willing to be Israel's servants in exchange for thirty pieces of campaign donations!

Hackers’ Attack Cracked 10 Financial Firms in Major Assault

Questions over who the hackers are and the approach of their attack concern government and industry officials. Also troubling is that about nine other financial institutions — a number that has not been previously reported — were also infiltrated by the same group of overseas hackers, according to people briefed on the matter. The hackers are thought to be operating from Russia and appear to have at least loose connections with officials of the Russian government, the people briefed on the matter said.

Church: Ebola carrier came to Dallas to get married

Ebola patient Thomas Duncan came to Dallas to get married, his girlfriend has told her pastor.

From the apartment where she hosted Duncan and was sequestered after he fell ill with Ebola, Louise Troh recently spoke by phone with her pastor at Wilshire Baptist Church. For the first time that we know of, Troh explained why Duncan traveled from Liberia to her small apartment two weeks ago—as it happened, carrying the Ebola virus to American soil.

“They were going to get married. They wanted to start a new life here,” church spokesman Mark Wingfield said.

Exclusive - G20 finalising flexible 'bail in' bond deal for big banks: sources

The world's biggest banks may be able to count surplus capital towards new buffers of special bonds being imposed by regulators, two sources familiar with draft proposals said.

In order to secure a deal the regulators have agreed to a more flexible approach to cater for differences in banking models across the world, both sources said.

The proposed new rule for the world's biggest banks is part of a wider plan for making banks safer after governments had to shore up lenders during the 2007-09 financial crisis.

BEX ALERT - Catch this year's autumn leaf spectacle, because it may not be back

The quiet hamlets of Vermont are transformed at this time of year. Verdant hills begin to pop with new hues: scarlet and crimson, gold and orange. Comparisons to a blazing fire are hard to avoid.

Tourists follow these colours, staying in quaint inns and snapping photographs of red barns in green fields, framed by bursts of autumn leaves. Known as “leaf peepers” in the US, they flock to New England every autumn where they wind their ways along normally quiet country roads. Elsewhere they seek out golden larches in the Alps, wild cherry in Britain, and maple and ginkgo in Japan.

As temperatures rise across the globe, these traditions are under threat.

Summertime Snow in U.S.? Unusual but It Happens

Climate skeptics might pounce on the September snow as a rebuttal to global warming, but the early snow that hit parts of South Dakota and other states Thursday and Friday, while uncommon, is not unheard of.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The important point isn't that summer snow " while uncommon, is not unheard of." It is that back in 2000 the global warming carbonazis were claiming that snow and ice were a thing of the past, due to human-caused global warming!

There followed several record setting winters, and we are headed into yet another one! And still they are pushing this human-caused global warming scam because the US Government did not get the expected windfall of new tax revenues from another scam, Obamacare, and is going to hit you all with a carbon tax as soon as the mid-term elections are over!

Biden says US 'embarrassed' EU into sanctioning Russia over Ukraine

“We’ve given Putin a simple choice: Respect Ukraine’s sovereignty or face increasing consequences,” Biden told a gathering at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University's Institute of Politics on Thursday.

The consequences were the sanctions which the EU imposed on Russia, first targeting individual politicians and businessmen deemed responsible for the crisis in Ukraine, then switching to the energy, defense, and economic sectors.

“It is true they did not want to do that,” Biden admitted.

“It was America’s leadership and the president of the United States insisting, oft times almost having to embarrass Europe to stand up and take economic hits to impose costs,” the US vice president declared.

Germany handed law-protected private data to NSA for years – reports

Intelligence service BND failed to protect the private data of German citizens as it handed over internet data collected at a Frankfurt traffic hub to the US, German media report citing secret documents.

The documents cited by VDR and EDR television and the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, which broke the news together, were obtained from the federal government during an ongoing parliamentary investigation into US National Security Service spying on German soil.

Just like the NSA is forbidden by the law to spy on Americans, the BND is not allowed to spy on Germans. So when last year in was revealed that the two intelligence services had been collaborating to collect communication data at the De-Cix internet exchange node in Frankfurt, the BND had to produce explanations.

This War is Not Aimed at ISIS, But at Assad

That ISIS have been emboldened, or even created, by the West’s insistence on supporting the armed insurgency in Syria over the past three years – pouring money, weapons and training (including even in public relations) into the hands of fighters of all shades – was admitted again and again by MPs from all parties, as was the reality that it was precisely the dysfunctional state bequeathed by the occupation that had allowed ISIS to take root in Iraq. But those very same MPs then almost all went on to explain that would be voting (‘reluctantly’, ‘with a heavy heart’, etc etc etc) for the government’s motion. The implicit argument was that, yes, we have being doing the wrong thing for the past three years (or past eleven years); but now we have a chance to put it right; indeed it is precisely because we helped create the ‘beast’ that we must now help to kill it.

The Konyism of Samantha Power, US Ambassador to the United Nations

Obama’s administration sinks in the quicksand of its liberal ambitions –few of its liberal foreign policy objectives have been met; not the closing down of Guantanamo’s prison, nor the tethering of an out-of-control surveillance apparatus, nor even the War on Terror in general. In fact, Obama has intensified the drone warfare in Yemen and Pakistan, and tethered itself to a resurgent Saudi Arabia on the back of Qatari withdrawal. To polish its carapace, the Obama administration has become a latter-day believer in gay rights on the world stage. Power went on Jay Leno’s program to talk about global LGBT rights and held a Google hangout with human rights activists where the issue of LGBT rights was center-stage (later, on twitter, Power mourned the loss of “Eric Ohena Lembembe, a courageous Cameroonian activist tortured to death last month”). But, to stay on the Uganda story, Power did not raise the issue of LGBT rights and Uganda.

Why Ben Bernanke Can’t Refinance His Mortgage

An employee of a think tank owns a house in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington. He wants to refinance his mortgage, but the bank won’t give him a loan.

It is perhaps not the most shocking story in the world, but it becomes so when you learn that the think tank employee is Ben S. Bernanke, who was until earlier this year the chairman of the Federal Reserve, charged with setting the course of interest rate policy for the United States economy.

And it seems downright absurd when you consider that he now makes a reported $250,000 for giving a speech and has signed a book contract that is surely in the seven figures. His income this next couple of years will surely dwarf the value of his house (he and his wife bought it for $839,000 in 2004, and it is currently assessed at $815,000, according to District of Columbia property records).

U.S. Back to Openly Supporting Tyranny in Egypt

t is, of course, very difficult to choose the single most extreme episode of misleading American media propaganda, but if forced to do so, coverage of the February, 2011 Tahrir Square demonstrations in Egypt would be an excellent candidate. For weeks, U.S. media outlets openly positioned themselves on the side of the demonstrators, depicting the upheaval as a Manichean battle between the evil despot Hosni Mubarak’s “three decades of iron rule” and the hordes of ordinary, oppressed Egyptians inspirationally yearning for American-style freedom and democracy.

Almost completely missing from this feel-good morality play was the terribly unpleasant fact that Mubarak was one of the U.S. Government’s longest and closest allies and that his ”three decades of iron rule” — featuring murder, torture and indefinite detention for dissidents — were enabled in multiple ways by American support.

America wants to know: Why in the world isn’t the Ebola clean-up crew in Dallas, Texas, wearing protective biohazard suits to prevent further spread of the deadly virus?

A photo posted online by Dallas/Fort Worth’s WFAA-TV News showed workers pressure washing the sidewalk where Thomas Duncan, a man who arrived from Liberia on Sept. 20 and was confirmed to have the Ebola virus, had vomited all over the ground outside The Ivy Apartments on Sept. 26. Hunter’s family members are reportedly quarantined in an apartment unit under armed guard after they attempted to violate orders to remain in their home.

The workers, who appeared to be allowing the potentially contaminated water wash down the storm drains, wore no protective gear – not even gloves.

Israel Lobby Supports Jabhat Al-Nusra, Insurgents In Aleppo Surrounded

There seems to be no concern in Tel Aviv that one day Jabhat al-Nusra could turn against Israel too. That is somewhat astonishing as both Hizbullah and Hamas started with Israeli support as counterweights to the Palestinian Liberation Organization only to later become the most capable foes of the Israeli occupation forces. One might have thought that Israeli strategists had learned from such foolishness.

But obviously they have not and now their lobby in the United States, here in form of theWashington Institute, supports that dumb policy by calling for further support for the Al-Qaida affiliate:

The risk of empowering an al Qaida affiliate is a small price to pay for Nusra’s contributions on the battlefield, said Jeffrey White, a former senior Defense Intelligence Agency analyst who’s now with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a think tank.

The scenery at the idyllic Colorado ski resorts right now is maddeningly beautiful. As if peak fall color wasn’t spectacular enough, a recent early winter-like storm deposited a gorgeous blanket of white in the high terrain. Shane Bauer is a journalist who, with Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattel, were kidnapped by Iranian border guards and imprisoned in solitary in Iran for many months. After his return to the US. Shane wrote about Pelican Bay, California’s notorious solitary confinement facility for inmates.

As he was observing one of the Urban Shield exercises as a official member of the press he was ordered to stop taking pictures and leave.

Urban Shield, a convention devoted to the glorification of the militarization of the police, has been happening in Oakland since 2007. The Mayor announced that it would not be held in Oakland next year, but it will still be held, probably somewhere else in Alameda County. It should be stopped once and for all or, barring that, Oakland and Oakland’s police should not participate.

Israel army vehicles enter Gaza, forces open fire

Israeli army vehicles have entered the southern Gaza Strip and soldiers have opened fire on Palestinian agricultural areas in a flagrant violation of a recent ceasefire agreement.

A dozen Israeli military vehicles entered Gaza from a gate east of the southern city of Khan Yunis on Wednesday, crossing some 200 meters into the Palestinian territory.

Israeli soldiers then fired shots on Palestinian farms. Witnesses say the assault, which occurred in the early morning, forced agricultural workers to leave their lands. No injuries have been reported so far.

Earlier this week, Israeli military forces shot and injured a Palestinian farmer in northern Gaza near a fence separating Israeli-occupied territories from the blockaded coastal enclave. An Israeli military spokesperson claimed the farmer had come too close to the border fence.

CDC - Ebola Virus Antibody Prevalence inDogs and Human Risk

During the 2001–2002 outbreak in Gabon, we observed that several dogs were highly exposed to Ebola virus by eating infected dead animals. To examine whether these animals became infected with Ebola virus, we sam-
pled 439 dogs and screened them by Ebola virus–specific immunoglobulin (Ig) G assay, antigen detection, and viral polymerase chain reaction amplification. Seven (8.9%) of 79 samples from the 2 main towns, 15 (15.2%) of 99 samples from Mekambo, and 40 (25.2%) of 159 samples from villages in the Ebola virus–epidemic area had detectable Ebola virus–IgG, compared to only 2 (2%) of 102 samples from France. Among dogs from villages with both infected animal carcasses and human cases, seroprevalence was 31.8%. A significant positive direct association
existed between seroprevalence and the distances to the Ebola virus–epidemic area. This study suggests that dogs can be infected by Ebola virus and that the putative infection is asymptomatic.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In other words, dogs can acquire the Ebola virus and not show any symptoms at all.

Now, we know the man in Dallas vomited outside his home before he was taken back to the hospital, and it was some time before workers arrived to clean up the mess with pressure washers. Any neighborhood dogs that came across the vomit and sniffed at it (or worse, licked it) may have the Ebola virus, and will not show any symptoms. Yet they will be able to pass the virus to other dogs and humans in the course of their normal behaviors.

Guess I better stop playing with the neighborhood dogs!

Labor Participation Rate Drops To 36 Year Low; Record 92.6 Million Americans Not In Labor Force

While by now everyone should know the answer, for those curious why the US unemployment rate just slid once more to a meager 5.9%, the lowest print since the summer of 2008, the answer is the same one we have shown every month since 2010: the collapse in the labor force participation rate, which in September slid from an already three decade low 62.8% to 62.7% - the lowest in over 36 years, matching the February 1978 lows. And while according to the Household Survey, 232,000 people found jobs, what is more disturbing is that the people not in the labor force, rose to a new record high, increasing by 315,000 to 92.6 million!

And that's how you get a fresh cycle low in the unemployment rate.

A rare debate on the “settled science” of climate change

Formal debates on the theory of human-caused warming are somewhat rare in our society today. Former Vice President Al Gore stated on the CBS Early Show on May 31, 2006:

...the debate among the scientists is over. There is no more debate. We face a planetary emergency. There is no more scientific debate among serious people who’ve looked at the science...Well, I guess in some quarters, there’s still a debate over whether the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona, or whether the earth is flat instead of round.

Biden blames US allies in Middle East for rise of ISIS

US Vice-President Joe Biden has accused America’s key allies in the Middle East of allowing the rise of the Islamic State (IS), saying they supported extremists with money and weapons in their eagerness to oust the Assad regime in Syria.

America’s “biggest problem” in Syria is its regional allies, Biden told students at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics at Harvard University on Thursday.

“Our allies in the region were our largest problem in Syria,” he said, explaining that Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were “so determined to take down Assad,” that in a sense they started a “proxy Sunni-Shia war” by pouring “hundreds of millions of dollars and tens of thousands of tons of weapons” towards anyone who would fight against Assad.

“And we could not convince our colleagues to stop supplying them,” said Biden, thus disassociating the US from unleashing the civil war in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Perfectly predictable from a man - and the administration he represents - who is pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for ANYTHING!!

That Obama knew this was going on for years, but was impotent to do anything about it?!?!?

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable.

‘Obama to be remembered as someone who betrayed his supporters’

President Obama has turned out to be another failed big government president, who put America into a new war, spied on its own citizens, and made a disastrous health care reform, Executive Director of the Libertarian Party Carla Howell told RT.

RT: The US strikes on ISIS have already cost it around $780-930 million, which is not pleasant news for the American taxpayers but makes a profit for the industries involved. Does President Obama even know about discontent among his citizens?

Carla Howell: I’m sure he is fully informed; he has got an enormous staff to keep him informed of what is going on. Clearly, what he is trying to do is take credit for ending the war in Iraq, and yet at the same time he is beholden to the military industrial complex in America, their special interests, that want more military funding regardless of whether our Generals even want it or not. So he is trying to walk that line.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This President has been an epic fail on everything in which he has intervened.

On immigration; wars in the Middle East; Obamacare; Ebolagate; IRSgate, APgate, and NSAgate, he continues to to undercut working Americans, and makes life worse for most American people.

But you have to understand that such behaviour is completely predictable for a man beholden to the large corporations (including the banks) which have funded the election cycles in which he was (allegedly) elected and re-elected.

Large corporations love illegal immigration, because it cuts the cost of doing business; large corporations love wars, because wars mean profit, for so many companies; and large pharmaceutical corporations love illness, because treatments - rather than cures - are far more profitable.

His faux populism is just an act, and not a terribly convincing act at that; no more, no less.

At the end of the day, this man is a slave to all those who put him in power for one reason, and one reason only; profit.

And he has, and continues, to deliver that for them.

In 2010 Obama Administration Scrapped CDC Quarantine Regulations Aimed At Ebola

In October 2014, the first patient on American soil infected with the Ebola virus sits in isolation in a Texas hospital, prompting calls for travel restrictions between the United States and Ebola-stricken countries.

Meanwhile, four years ago, the administration of President Barack Obama moved with virtually no fanfare to abandon a comprehensive set of regulations which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had called essential to preventing international travelers from spreading deadly diseases inside the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And that may explain why the same administration screaming about human-caused global warming is acting like the very real threat of Ebola is no big deal! To save the Prez embarrassment!

Police Departments Retaliate Against Organized "Cop Watch" Groups Across the US

When communities attempt to police the police, they often get, well... policed.

In several states, organized groups that use police scanners and knowledge of checkpoints to collectively monitor police activities by legally and peacefully filming cops on duty have said they've experienced retaliation, including unjustified detainment and arrests as well as police intimidation.

The groups operate under many decentralized organizations, most notably CopWatch and Cop Block, and have proliferated across the United States in the last decade - and especially in the aftermath of the events that continue to unfold in Ferguson, Missouri, after officer Darren Wilson fatally shot unarmed, black teenager Michael Brown.

Many such groups have begun proactively patrolling their communities with cameras at various times during the week, rather than reactively turning on their cameras when police enter into their neighborhoods or when they happen to be around police activity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

People with kids and skills, get the hell out of this country right now.

Fox’s new poll and the lie that could lead to more war

I’m guessing most Americans imagine annihilation when they hear the word “defeat.” But it’s worth noting that when he talks about his plan to “degrade and destroy” ISIS, the president is not. And that, ultimately, gets to the heart of why the campaign against ISIS remains so worrying, and why Obama’s depiction of it when he’s speaking to the nation at large is still so reckless. As the Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky argued weeks ago (while calling on the president to intervene), and as Obama himself has explained when speaking with journalists or experts, destroying ISIS is well outside U.S. capacity. It’s something people in the region will ultimately have to do for themselves.

To avoid being sucked into another doomed invasion and all-out war, that’s something Americans should’ve understood from the beginning. It’s something the president should have told them. He didn’t; they don’t; and the new poll from Fox may be just the beginning.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This writer does a marvelous job of missing the point entirely.

Those in the bowels of power in DC desperately want another major war as a way to potentially get out of the economic crud in which their policies have placed this country, and misdirect people away from the real, honest causes of their financial misery.

In World War I and World War II, the US got out of the financial messes it was in through war. However, I would strongly caution to those few adults in the bowels of power that World War III may not produce the desired result here.

They want control over all Middle East oil, and the currency in which that oil is sold.

The US public is being "groomed" for another major war in the Middle East, plus a war against Russia.

The US has gone out of its way to surround Russia with nuclear missile encampments on its borders.

I would like to politely point out that the US military does not have the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia; and that is what makes the military option here so scarily dangerous.

To begin, consider that people like Dr. Sanjay Gupta keep saying that the Dallas Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan had “told the nurse” who attended to him upon his first arrival at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Room that he had “traveled “to” Africa.”

That’s certainly a very odd thing for a Liberian national, having just arrived from Monrovia, Liberia to the United States for the very first time in his life, to have supposedly said, is it not? Of course, it fits the CDC Checklist used prior to, and including, Duncan’s case, so that must have been exactly what Duncan said, right Sanjay?

Netanyahu: Postpone Probe Into Attacks on UN Facilities in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got into a heated argument with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday night, according to Israeli officials, over the planned UN investigation into Israel attacking UN sites in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu had demanded Ban postpone the probe into the attacks indefinitely, pending Israel releasing its own inquiry results. He also accused Ban of “discriminating” against Israel by wanting to probe the attacks on UN sites full of civilians at all.

Judge Rebukes Government, Keeps Gitmo Force-Feeding Hearing Open

A federal judge has knocked down the government’s attempt to hold a secret hearing in a case challenging the military’s practice of force-feeding Guantanamo detainees who are on hunger strike.

U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler called the government’s desire to close the proceedings “deeply troubling,” and chastised the Department of Justice for appearing to “deliberately” make the request “on short notice.”

The case involves Abu Wa’el Dhiab, a Syrian man who has been held at Guantanamo since 2002, though he was cleared for transfer out of the island prison by the military in 2009. He began a hunger strike last year and claims that he has been subjected to painful and abusive force-feedings. He has asked the federal court to intervene and stop the military forcing him from his cell and restraining him during the feedings.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Good on Judge Kessler!

Anyone who has had the process proscribed by a doctor, during a convalescence, understands that even with the best, and most compassionate specialists, the process is uncomfortable at best.

To be used in a punitive manor against those who are on a hunger strike, when they have been cleared for release 5 years ago, is immoral and reprehensible
.

But, at all levels, unfortunately, that is what the US government has become: immoral and reprehensible.

Dallas Co. sheriff's officers entered quarantined apartment

Five members of the Dallas County Sheriff's Department who were briefly inside the apartment where a man with Ebola stayed have been temporarily put on leave.?

The J. P. Morgan breach is one part of a larger crisis

J. P. Morgan’s disclosure that hackers compromised the data of more than 76 million of its consumer patrons — and 7 million small business clients — may seem stunning.

But it reflects just a sliver of the withering bombardment the U.S. financial services sector has endured for at least the past three years.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Americans footed the bill for billions of dollars and were forced to surrender their Constitutional rights to create a system of total computer surveillance which was claimed to be intended to fight crime and terror. We have been hearing month after month after month of data breaches costing companies and individuals vast amounts of money. And not a single peep from the NSA. No identified cyber-criminals gleaned from all the data kept of all computer transactions in the nation (and much of the rest of the world). Nothing. Is the NSA totally incompetent? If so, we should shut them down, refund the money and restore the Bill of Rights. Or, as some suggest, is the NSA itself breaking into these data systems to feed its addiction to your data (and make a little party cash on the side)? If so, again, we should shut them down, refund the money and restore the Bill of Rights.

Contagion Blast Radius: How Far Can Ebola Droplets Travel?

One virologist, Alan Schmaljohn at the University of Maryland School of Medicinewas asked if Ebola was airborne and states, “With Ebola, large droplets — which neither travel very far nor hang in the air for long — are the real risk factors. That means an Ebola-infected person would likely have to cough or sneeze up blood or other bodily fluids directly in your face for you to catch the virus, Schmaljohn says. If that drop of blood doesn’t land on your face, it will just fall to the ground. It won’t be swimming in the air, waiting to be breathed in by an unsuspecting passerby.” Source

How the Israel Lobby Set Beto O'Rourke Right

It took only one wrong vote to teach a freshman Democrat from Texas how sensitive, and even wrathful, the Jewish community can be when it comes to Israel.

But the real story of what happened to Rep. Beto O’Rourke did not stop with the angry reaction he got when he cast one of only eight votes in Congress against special funding for Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system during the recent Gaza war.

What is notable is how quickly the carrot followed the stick.

Can Ebola survive on a surface? That and other questions answered

In one study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Ebola virus lived on a surface in a perfectly controlled environment for up to six days. But the environment at an airport, for example, or a school is not perfectly suited to support viruses.

Ebola is easily destroyed outside of the body, experts say. UV light, heat and exposure to oxygen all deactivate the virus over time.

Powers offered Israel a golden opportunity in the aftermath of the Gaza slaughter to show the world a kinder, gentler face.

This is precisely what Israel did in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake when it parachuted a team into the country where it stayed for two weeks, named a new baby “Israel” and promptly left–after videotaping the enterprise for suitable exploitation in hasbara efforts. Ibuprofen Is All It Takes to Avoid Airport Ebola Screening: Experts

On Thursday, Liberia said the first Ebola patient to be diagnosed in the United States had lied on a questionnaire at Monrovia's airport about his exposure to an Ebola patient. On September 16, President Obama solemnly declared the war. He announced, to the surprise of most sane citizens, that he had ordered 3,000 American troops, the so-called “boots on the ground” that the Pentagon refuses to agree to in Syria, to wage a war against….a virus?

US Attorney General urges tech companies to leave back doors open on gadgets for police

US Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Tuesday urged tech companies not to lock police out of popular consumer gadgets, lest law enforcement's efforts to nab kidnappers or child predators be stymied.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"I mean, sure, a lot of Americans, millions really, will have their bank accounts broken into and stuff, but it will be worth it to allow the police unfettered access to nude photos of their wives and daughters, I mean, criminals."

Ebola Virus Hammers Airline Stocks, Boosts Pharma Stocks

The Ebola virus has become the unlikely arbiter of the latest winners and losers in stocks.

The first diagnosis of an Ebola patient in the U.S. may be driving airline stocks lower, while shares of pharmaceutical companies move higher.

It's not the first time an international health concern has led to fears that people will travel less frequently around the world.

"I think airlines are down for reasons beyond just Ebola, but people may remember that SARS was quite negative for air travel," Neal Dihora, Morningstar senior equity analyst, told ABC News.

Syrian air-strikes: Does the US have the foggiest idea who their enemy is?

The fog of war has been a recurrent theme through time, the confusion and misapprehension that comes amid the clamour and fury of combat. Even in these early days of the war against Isis, the fog appears to be descending fast with no clear strategy in view and a moving gallery of enemies.

Barack Obama admits that his administration underestimated the threat posed by Isis and overestimated the capabilities of the Iraqi military. This is surprising; the rise to dominance of the Islamist group in Syria, and the damage done by former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to his country’s forces through sectarian policies had been extensively charted by the media.

The real confusion began when the campaign moved on to Syria, a necessary step. Instead of just attacking Isis, the US also bombed Jabhat al-Nusra, affiliated to al-Qaeda but which had fought against Isis and was loosely allied with the “moderate” rebels whom the West is sponsoring.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Not to mention parachuting food and ammunition onto an ISIS base!

Israel First, America’s National Security Second

In one of the United States Congress’ most recent displays of “Israel First” policy, 39 Representatives, all democrats, have requested that President Obama pardon Jonathan Pollard, an American convicted of spying for the State of Israel in 1987. Pollard is currently serving a life sentence for his crimes. According to American Muslims for Palestine:

Pollard, who was a civilian research analyst with high security clearance for the U.S. Navy, had agreed to spy for Israel for 10 years in exchange for more than $500,000. According to a January 1999 article in the New Yorker by Seymour Hersh, Pollard “betrayed elements of four major American intelligence systems.” Pollard caused extensive damage to U.S. intelligence and U.S. national security because of the nature of the highly sensitive documents he sold to Israel.

Pointing laser at police helicopter costs Texas man two years behind bars

So you’re just some dude chilling on your back porch with friends and you think it would be fun to aim your laser pointer at a helicopter. Everyone has a good laugh.

Eight months later a judge tells you those laughs are going to cost you two years in prison.

Pointing a laser at a helicopter can’t possibly be that much fun.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Nor is it even harmful. During the Egyptian revolution that ousted Mubarak, protesters bathed the overhead helicopters with laser pointers and the helicopters flew on as if they did not even notice.

So I have to wonder just how paranoid our government has become where a pretty colored light is the cause of so much fear.
