On the same weekend that Russia angered the West by pulling out of the UN-brokered grain export deal, which allowed Ukraine to ship its wheat and food supplies to global markets via an internationally monitored safety corridor, the Kremlin has floated a potential basis for "high-level re-engagement", state media reported on Sunday.

Despite this big step back on what constituted the only diplomatic 'positive' of the past months between the warring sides, Putin office spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Rossiya-1 TV channel that talks with the United States remain possible if Washington "pays heed to our concerns."

Such an opening in negotiations related to the war in Ukraine would ultimately be contingent on "the US desire to go back to the state of things as of December-January" Peskov described, and the US must ask, according to his words: "what the Russians are offering may not suit all of us, but maybe we should still sit down with them at the negotiating table?"

The White House is discussing an additional $50 billion in aid for Ukraine after the midterm elections, according to NBC News.

President Joe Biden is considering the move, particularly if Democrats lose their majorities in the House and Senate, the report notes, citing “officials familiar with the discussions.” The number is expected to be around $50 billion.

If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats lose power in the midterm elections, Ukrainian aid would be one of their final priorities before the power switch in January.

The Verdict Is In: Senate GOP Report Released On Lab-Leak Theory

Senate Republicans have taken the opportunity to publish a report about the suspected origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it flies in the face of some of the theories posed by scientists at the beginning of the outbreak.

North Carolina Republican Sen. Richard Burr took the lead on creating and publishing this report, and his team found that it was highly likely that the COVID-19 virus began as a lab leak in Wuhan, China, in mid to late 2019. This is different from the official story of it somehow starting as a result of an individual eating a bat.

Interim Ottawa Police Chief (OPS) Steve Bell said Monday before the judicial inquiry into the use of the Emergencies Act (EA) that the Freedom Convoy protest “felt” violent due to incessant horn honking, but admitted the movement was not actually violent in the criminal sense.

When asked by lawyers representing Freedom Convoy protesters why he had repeatedly claimed protesters would turn violent, Bell said to the Public Order Emergency Commission – the committee currently convened in Ottawa to investigate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act –  it was not meant in the literal sense.

“Not the Criminal Code definition of violence but the violence they felt by having excessive horns blared, by having trucks run 24/7,” said Bell under cross-examination.

In response, lawyer Brenden Miller asked Bell, “So the violence they ‘felt,’ not actual violence, is that what you’re saying?”

“That is correct,” admitted the police chief.

Washington, D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) is surveying students as young as age 11 about their “sexual identity” and “transgender” status, using a questionnaire from a firm owned by the U.S. Attorney General’s son-in-law.

An email to parents on Oct. 25 shared by the Daily Caller explains that DCPS will be surveying students during class about their “social-emotional learning” environment, and that parents can opt their children out of the survey.

“As in previous years, the survey asks students in grades 6-12 about their gender and sexual identity,” the email to parents reads. “These questions help the district promote equitable treatment for all students in accordance with our Transgender and Gender-Nonconforming Policy Guidance.”

The referenced 2015 guidance, issued by former DCPS chancellor Kaya Henderson, advises that ”students have the right to be addressed by the name and pronoun that correspond to the student’s gender identity,” and declares that DCPS standards for health education “support the importance of … sexual orientation.”

Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss's personal phone was hacked by suspected agents working for Russian President Vladimir Putin when she was foreign minister, the Daily Mail reported on Saturday.

Those agents gained access to "top-secret details" of negotiations with international allies in addition to private messages exchanged with Truss's close friend Kwasi Kwarteng, who later became finance minister, the report said.

The messages are believed to have included discussions with senior international foreign ministers about the war in Ukraine, including details about arms shipments, it added.

Up to a year's worth of messages were downloaded, the Mail said, citing unnamed sources.

As if the political unraveling across the European Union, United Kingdom and other powers of the political West wasn’t bad enough, the people who have become fed up with the disastrous policies of their failing governments are finally taking to the streets. Pushed to the brink of (or beyond) poverty, with soaring food, energy and housing costs, tens of thousands of protesters railed against the policies of the Czech government. Starting on Friday, the residents of Prague took to the streets, demanding the resignation of the Czech government under Prime Minister Petr Fiala, withdrawal from NATO, as well as direct talks and an agreement on future natural gas supplies from Russia.

“This is a new national revival and its goal is for the Czech Republic to be independent,” organizer Ladislav Vrabel stated. “When I see a full square, no one can stop this.”

Demonstrations were not only limited to Prague, but occurred both in the capital city, as well as the second-largest Czech city of Brno. Organized under the slogan of “Czech Republic First,” the protests drew large-scale support from both sides of the political spectrum, as left-wing and right-wing parties joined forces to protest the subservient policies of the government in Prague.

Will pro-censorship liberals finally get a taste of their own medicine?

One of President Joe Biden’s official tweets was hit with a Twitter notice Friday, with the social media platform providing “context” that made the Democrat look like a total Pinocchio.

The tweet in question made bold claims about the tax ramifications of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.

Biden claimed his spending bill (one of them, rather) would hit 55 big corporations that don’t pay federal taxes with a bill from the federal government.

What Biden claimed were the “facts” were quickly debunked — through a Twitter “readers added context” notice, no less.

The “Birdwatch” fact check-style feature that Twitter slapped Biden with isn’t a new innovation of Elon Musk’s reign at the company. However, its use on a Biden tweet could signal a new era for the social media platform, which has a history of targeting conservatives.

Researchers found that mental health resources are far more helpful to women after abortion than political rhetoric. Activists on both sides need to start treating them like people rather than pawns in a political contest.

Some find it necessary to shout their approval of abortion to others, even their own. Perhaps they’re seeking justification or trying to ease their psychological pain. Most women, however, told researchers who asked open-ended questions they wanted to remain anonymous about their emotional struggles. Even the 75% of them who identified as “pro-choice” said this.

The study’s authors found a “negative self-image” among 34% of the women who underwent an abortion using pharmaceutical methods. Nearly two-thirds either sought help or said they could have used someone to talk to following the procedure.

Hardcore abortion rights supporters have made it difficult for women who experience regret, shame or other negative psychological and emotional outcomes to make their feelings known. It might, one suspects, diminish the public’s acceptance of the practice, especially among those who tout women’s empowerment as the primary justification for legal abortion.

Police officers were called to the home of Orlando Harris on Oct. 15, nine days before he went on a shooting rampage inside a St. Louis high school. Harris’ mother had asked officers to remove the weapon, an AR-15 rifle, from her home, citing her son’s mental health struggles. Police had been called to the home before.

St. Louis police had also been informed that Harris, 19, recently failed a federal background check when he tried to buy a weapon from a local dealer.

So why didn’t police confiscate the AR-15 before Monday’s attack at Central Visual and Performing Arts and Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience, which left two people dead and seven others injured?

Highly skilled cyber attackers are using a never-before-seen technique to stealthily infect victims with malware by abusing legitimate tools.

The campaign has been detailed by cybersecurity researchers at Symantec, who say that the attackers can spend more than 18 months inside the networks of victims, all while taking steps to ensure their activity stays under the radar to avoid detection in what's thought to be an intelligence-gathering and espionage operation.

How the attack begins is still uncertain, but victims become infected with a previously undocumented form of malware dubbed Geppei, which is used to deliver another form of backdoor malware that has been named Danfuan, which provides secret access to compromised machines, along with the ability to snoop on data stored or entered on systems.

Russian Military Wiped Out Ukrainian Sabotage Group Near Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant (Video)

ILLUSTRATIVE IMAGE

On October 30, the Russian military foiled an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to land a sabotage and reconnaissance group near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP).

Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, said during a briefing that the AFU group was tasked with penetrating Energodar city.

“One speedboat of the Ukrainian armed forces was destroyed during an attempt to land a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group in the city of Energodar in the Zaporozhye region,” Lt. Gen. Konashenkov said.

According to the spokesman, the AFU shelled Energodar and the territories adjacent to the Zaporozhye NPP three times over past 24 hours, with a total of 10 shells. The presence of representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the plant didn’t deter Kiev.
