Chinese President Xi Jinping promised on Friday to defend the "territorial integrity" of Tajikistan as he announced a boost to diplomatic relations with the neighbouring country on a rare visit.

Xi arrived in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, Thursday night from Kazakhstan following a gathering of leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), during which he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and urged the bloc to "resist external interference".

A trip by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia next week is aimed at reinforcing the relationship with Moscow as New Delhi strengthens ties with the U.S. to counter China.

The Chinese dredger suspected of plundering two World War II Royal Navy shipwrecks last year has been detained by Malaysian maritime authorities.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has arrived in China as part of his “peace mission” tour, following meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev.

The Hungarian premier confirmed he is in China with a photo of Deputy Foreign Minister Hua Chunying greeting him at the airport and a brief post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning, saying: “Peace mission 3.0 Beijing.”

A group of Chinese army personnel arrived in Belarus on July 6, 2024, to participate in joint “anti-terrorist training” with Belarusian forces. These exercises aim to exchange experience, coordinate units, and strengthen Belarusian-Chinese relations in troop training. Belarus, a key ally of Russia, has supported Russian aggression against Ukraine but hasn’t committed its own troops to fight directly in the war.

In an utterly stunning development in eastern Europe, China has sent troops from its People's Liberation Army (PLA) to Belarus, to participate side-by-side with Belarus troops in an "exercise." - as NATO places 115,000 troops on Belarus' Border.

Word of this began to leak out around 5:00 AM eastern US time today (Saturday July 6) when avid air enthusiasts noticed an unidentified plane in Belarus air space.   It had begun squawking a Transponder beacon, but was not identifying itself.

US President Joe Biden said that he was in a position to counter Russian President Vladimir Putin, contain China and hold the North Atlantic Alliance together.

"I am running the world, <...> I am taking on Putin," the US leader boasted in an interview with ABC. He said that he had been on the phone with the prime ministers of Israel and Britain earlier on Friday and that he had been working on European and other issues.
